It saddens me a bit that the very mechanic that I rely the most on, is often broken, unreliable and and miss often – the pet.

Just to make some examples…

The pet is my heaviest DPS that I have, (since I’m not only a beastmaster but also Druid) Recently the smokescake was destroyed – again. It was awsome before the last change. Time to change pet – again, back to some of the old pets.

Many of the new pets are broken:

Both new wyverns have too slow AA and tail swipe – wich makes the miss.

Fire wyvern misses due to not taking target, with it should do. It also has a slow cast time wich also makes it miss.

Bristleback: Misses due to broken projectile mechanic.

An Electric Wyvern that dont even fly. That pet would have been better as a dolyak (or other horned, headbutting creature) due to its mechanic. It looks awsome and have a working mechanic why i actually use it, despite it being a bit odd.

I had hopes for pet AI to be updated with HoT to be in par with our new enemies, to e able to actually hit targets, to hit YELLOW targets (such as doors etc). But no…

The synergy between the skills and Traits and the pets is very poor, at least when it comes to druid. and Druid is still a pet class.

Pets names till dont save…..

Any other Beastmasters that feel left out out there?

Same boat.

Same problems.

Same disregard for all of us who have been waiting for fixes and new pets, both of which are huge disappointments.

Don’t count on your pet in PvP or WvW… PvE is where you will shine now and nowhere else.

I’m playing a beastmaster druid too . . . and I feel exactly the opposite about the Smokescale. I guess your mileage may vary . . . or something. . . .

As far as the other pets? Yeah, the wyverns just suck. No getting around that. Slow, clunky, bugged. The bristleback tends to miss if the target is either on a higher or lower plane, so that’s a wash too.

Either way, I’m still happy with my pet and my class. Not as happy as I could be, but as a ranger I’m used to it.

That might be telling though.

After the recent change to smokescale (nerf) and the lack luster effort to fix pets, I’ve pretty much given up hope on Ranger. Decided to throw in the towel and play another class until they fix pets (and i’m not holding my breath).

Both Wyverns cannot hit moving targets at all and are one of the worst at it. Fire wyvern’s F2 covers red circles of death. The Bristleback cannot hit any target on even a slightly different vertical plane than it.

ANet still has a lot of work to do with these and other pets.

Please keep the f2 how it is.. It makes the pet extremely good for hybrid specs in pvp (because you can decide when it bursts) The smoke field doesn’t do much for the player… and the pet is already pretty tanky.

Ps. The druid is great Irenio, people complaining just aren’t playing it right.

I found a dev in game and she told me that the Wyverns were split up between VB and Dragon’s Stand.
She didn’t know exactly where, but she said if the electric Wyverns were not in VB then they’re probably in Dragon’s Stand

I’m sorry to say, I haven’t read all 65 pages, so maybe someone else has said it, but I want more “accessory” colors. I would PREFER dyeable by any dye, but if nothing else, more in the customization kits. I would also like to see more skin colors for some of the races, as well as more charr horn options, sylvari/asura ears, etc.

Hi there,
I don’t post very much on the forums but I’m an avid reader of it. I would like to contribute to this discussion in particular since I think it’s one of the major reason why players could leave the game for a while.
There are a lot of other factors but here’s how I would INITIALLY increase the RNG factor of the unluckier players.

INCREMENTAL MF SYSTEM

Problem Analysis
Avoid Reward’s Clustering Illusion for players, mantaining relatively stable important factors like:

  • Personal Magic Find ( who worked to have more should be rewarded accordingly )
  • TP Economic System ( Markets have to be mantained stable as far as possible )
  • Items’ Value ( Precursors still have to be very rare items, like items’ exclusivity in general should stay the same to avoid the “no reason to play more” problem )
  • Items’ Acquisition ( particular items have to be still gained in the proper way for those that are dedicated to certain areas of the game, like Fractal Weapons and Ambrite Weapons )

Solution Proposed
My initial approach to this Problem is to have an incremental MF factor for each RNG loot that does not gain an exclusive loot. In particular, most sought items are T6 Rare Materials, Rares and Exotics ( I’ll call it Jackpot Loot from now on ). I would apply a system that would work like this:

Example:
Player opens a RNG Loot which has a Jackpot Loot Chance

  • Condition A: he doesn’t get a Jackpot Loot
    - an hidden Unlucky buff will add a stack
    - if the Unlucky buff gets to 100, a visible stack of Bonus Luck buff will be given to the player, which increases its Magic Find by X
  • Condition B: he gets a Jackpot Loot
    - both the Unlucky buff & the Bonus Luck buff will be removed from the player

Possible Issues

  • Jackpot devalued: I don’t study economics but if there will be a devaluation, it would not stay there for a long time since the system is granted for every player and the RNG factor would leave the supply on a stable level after a while. It’s a matter of the lesser evil: unsatisfied players that could stop playing and provide to the market or slightly devaluation to grant a more contributing playerbase?
  • Rares supply: Rares are not too hard to get, especially counting World Bosses, but would they be too much cheap? I think this problem could be adjusted by just working on the MF value provided by the Bonus Luck buff or by the number of stacks needed by the Unlucky buff. Also the Devs could hide these numbers if for any reason they think it should be not known by the player. This point is also compatible with the possible Precursor Supply Issue.
  • Veterans not rewarded: MF was reset when it was deleted from Equip Stats without counting players’ age. Also MF can be increased through the Ectos, more affordable with this system. This means that MF must and should be the most important factor for Jackpot Loots over the age of the player.
  • Technical Implementation: It should not be a player’s concern, but this system just uses almost the same in-game system for the kill-based sigils, and on certain extent it’s almost sure that there is a Loot Check already with the new Collection System. Implementation of this System should not require entire new Systems. Optimization could be then only problem.
  • Unwanted Drop: A player could get an unwanted Jackpot Loot while playing an area of the game where it’s not interested in. For Example: getting a World Boss Exotic between Dungeon runs. This problem is not solved and should not be considered since the System is always active and the Jackpot Loot still has its own value.

Most Wanted Drops
Case by case, here’s how each particular drop will be influenced by this System and could create new advantages:

  • Precursors/Most Wanted Exotics: Players will feel to have more chances to gain them gradually playing the game. Also they will at least get a Jackpot Loot which still has value on the Market, making them more invested in using the TP.
  • Fractal Weapons: Problem potentially unsolved, unless this system will count these weapons in the Jackpot Loot, which could solve most problems with it ( especially ring drops ).
  • Dungeon Chests/Ambrite Fossils: Still Exotics wanted by the players. The more you play that area, the better you’ll get by time.
  • PvP Drops: PvP Bags should already have increased Loot Chances, or if not they should have since it would equilibrate with Pve more frequent Unlucky buff stacks.

This is my idea about this particular topic, let’s discuss how to upgrade this idea of mine or let’s get a better system to improve everyone’s experience without damaging the Economic System.

Hey all.

I just returned from San Francisco and am going to crash hard from the busy weekend at Twitch Con very soon, but first I wanted to clarify something:

During the skill balance stream on Friday we weren’t able to go into depth or even talk about the reasons and expected results for changes we did reach due to time constraints[sub]1[/sub]. Because the June 23rd patch was mentioned during the stream many people seem to expect a patch of that size and magnitude.

This coming patch is NOT that big.

Tuesday’s patch will have those changes we discussed in the livestream, some bugfixes, and more, but it is a step in the right direction. It is not the end-all.

There shall be more.

yes to all…and these armor skins are already in game assets, so adapting them to different races should be less work

we need more tribal/savage armor – there are only VERY few of these in game – especially for medium armor. This is especially annoying if you think about all the savage/tribal/primal weapon sets in game – it just looks super stupid having a clean super nice woven armor and then a bone axe…

More armor that show a lot more skin would also be very much appreciated – or an option to hide chest armor…

The sabertooth one is actually my favorite :-)

Its regarding the Electric Wyvern

The elecrtic Wyvern, it is a flying/winged beast that doesn’t do a single flying attack. Thats just sad. It looks clumpsy when it does ALL the attacking on/from the ground. The Fire one has one flying attack that is really cool.

Suggestion: Give the Electric Wyvern a flying attack. Make the electric attack a flying one similar tothe one the Dragon finisher uses in PvP, or the Griffons swoop. Maybe a bit of a swooping movement where it flies up to come down, breathe the electricity and then hit the enemy with the tail instead of the headbut.

So many traits (i.e. not just Beastmastery) have utility for pets. So many weapon skills have bonuses for pets. So many utility skills rely on pets.

There will be pets! You’re just setting yourself up for disappointment if you don’t like the pet mechanic and think it will change in HoT.
