but btt. yeah that boss definitely is something and i only tried him once and failed hard (was called for help by a friend for the boss, cause someone already left and they needed one, but the place was full of crystals and we gave up a few minutes later^^)

it’s easy, I had to solo it cuz no one else in my group could do it/and conditions stuff
1. Don’t use any condition damage
2. Have some kind of condition removal, most people go all dps stuff but just switch into 1 condition removal at least for this boss
3. Read his animations, there’s two animations one where he’ll single target someone and fire some fireballs and then theres one where he fires 1 fireball at everyone you can just roll or walk to the side for this one
4. Being range makes 3. a lot easier, gives more time to dodge
just because it’s not a spam 12345 boss doesn’t mean its impossible

well said + have 1 guy go ran into his melee range, trigger is flame spin thing and u will get way less of the fireball stuff (which is by the way very easy to dodge if u see the golem and have 1 braincell in order to memorize the animation he does before it. srsly its not that hard…)
and HEY guess what: we figured that out while fighting him !
We fought him the first time, got completly wiped, then we turned of our condition making stuff, used some cond.remove with us and our war found out the thing with the fire wheel (whicht srsly makes it a lot easier). and it was a complete random PUG group without using ts or anything like that. only chat.

Sword #3 ability (leap) bugged?

is it rly that hard to look @ the red bar under the skill and to wait for it to disappear before using the leap…..
the one thing I hate about it is that the clone stucks himself at so many things and u dont get the cripple / immobilize off,

i highly recommend u a ranged weapon, wheter its for pve or pvp. u will need it

one the one hand i agree that it sucks expecially cause i dont want the citadell of flames armor that can be farmed in a few days, but the TA armor that takes quite a while longer to farm.

but on the other hand i think its kinda appropiate cause these armors are f****** awsm and have prestige (except for the citadell of flame-ones cause they’re to easy to farm) and when i wear my armor in two weeks or maybe even longer i can look at it with a satisfying feeling, knowing i’ve achieved something.
it just would be boring to get the full max lvl awsm looking armor after 5 runs…

but in general i think this is all about the attitude. Do i want the cool stuff for free or do i want to do something myself to get this satisfying feeling.
im perfectly fine with the system atm but as this post proves not everybody is, but i guess u cant satisfy everyone unless u give them the option to either get it for free or for 5 runs or for 50+

the only problem i see with this cond healing is that some classes do conds with their autoattack, butu can change the weapon ^.^

only problem it has right now is the illusion getting stucked to often at the terrain therefore u dont the the immobilize NOR the cripple.
the range…. yeah its not that big and i too believe it was 750 in beta but i can live with the 600 as well

yeah i’ve seen what gw2 needs to a good esports (went through all those lists n stuff), but as long as such things dont exist, i wont support gw2 as an esport, cause at the moment the pvp system is imho crappy as hell (not due to some classes being op or anything, but the system overall). Again this is my personal opinion!

in every dungeon (all story + some explores) i went so far i played with two friends and two complete random people we had (from the 2 randoms) every class. we even had a 3 eles one time. And it was all manageable if the people are smart enough to not go full glasscannon, but take utilities in order to get rid of conditions, cripple the boss for easier kiting, etc.
I cant tell if it is like that in the explores i didnt went so far (like arah), but with my current experience i can say: YES it is possible (if your group has some brain ^^)

I think dungeons are hard because we dont know how to handle that kind content.

i had this “wtf is this kitten here” moment in the very first dungeon i went with my mesmer.
but then i kinda realized dungeons are a completely other thing and after that i just adapted myself to it and now – after running through every dungeon and several explore modes – im completly fine with the level of difficulty and the dungeons in general (i dont say i like every dungeon, some are way to easy, others have some really frustrating moments).
What i hate the most atm are those pugs (cause im not in a big guild so i often have to search for a party), who are just way to dumb to adjust and ran as ele full dmg glass cannon with double dagger and die in every fight within seconds. So obviously they cant adjust themselves. So imho (and it has been said often enough) in 99% of the time the players are the one @ fault and not the dungeons. I still dont know how it is possible to complete a dungeon with more repair cots than rewards, but if i look at someone like this full dmg double dagger ele i can understand it….

if you have a two hand weapon u have 1 clone 1 phantasm skill
if u have main / offhand weapon u have clone on mainhand and phantasm on offhand

and I too think you are kinda forced to go with illusions, what is kinda sad, but i dont dislike the playstyle ^^

is it worth it?
Cause i’ve been thinking for a while about going power / precision / conddmg, but i dont see the option for conddmg-focus on mesmer:
mains sword only has no dmg-conds,
szepter has confusion but imho thats not worth for pve cause of the very low attackspeed of mops (maybe worth for champs / dungeons)
offhand sword has no dmg-conds
offhand pistol has no dmg-conds
offhand focus has no dmg-conds
offhand torch has burning but only after three secs of waiting + confusion through the phantasm
GS has no dmg-conds
Staff hast every cond i want but applies it random… so if u are unlucky u just stack vulnerability instead of burning / bleeding via #1..

so the only option u have would be staff + szepter & torch, but the only condition u can be sure of applying would be confusion, cause staff is depending on random.
and there would be the option for illusion crits lets enemies bleed…

Confusion damage is much higher in PvE compared to PvP to compensate for slower mob attack rates. Fun fact: WvW Confusion damage uses the PvE version, which means you can gib people in an instant by using Confusing Images + IR CoF for 11 stacks of Confusion.

Currently I do more than 3000 damage per skill activation with this, and I haven’t even “maxed out” my condition damage yet: when I do it’ll probably be 4000 damage per skill activation.

i still think confusion is not really usefull on normal mobs, on bigger bosses its another issue and i used it there a few times myself. imho that has everyone to decide for themselves.

but that WvW thing seem pretty broken O.O didnt knew bout that cause i havent done any WvW till now :/

I know phantasms have that ether ghost look to them, so that was not the issue, still, seems those names should be reserved by the system.

it certainly is true that some downed abilities are stronger than other, but that 20+ second statement is absolutely not true
especially not for mesmer, as being said, the clone pops out first and 99% of the people use the 4th skill and therefore shining blue and there u have your mesmer.
As its for thief i’ve never player one so i dont know 100% how their downed work but its normally faster to just hit them with your weapon instead of finishing him…

and a post like that shows exactly that people cant see over the “almighty trinity”. Its a really sad thing, cause it just gets into the way of progressing new gameplay >.<
I agree that gw2 isn’t the superb uber game and that the trinity should be forgotten instantly, but its a step in the right direction (or rather new direction).

why cant people just adapt? there is so much q.q going on and most of it is just cause people dont get in their heads that as a warrior i cannot stand in front of a champ mop and “tank” it for my team. the champion mop will look at the warri, wait the 5 secs for shield stance to run out and do a fine hulk smash and the warri’s gone… and then the warri runs to the forums “q.q warri is kitten” / “q.q where is my holy trinity” …
there is no trinity and gw2 and (hopefully) there will never be one. Even the “full support guardians” (dont know if thats a build or something but i had played with a few guys calling themselves that way) who come closest to the tank / healer guy cant tank the boss for the whole fight (which of course 99% wont believe)

gw2 atm is about kiting (especially in dungeons) if the boss runs towards you, u run away from it, speedboost yourself, cripple the boss until it tries to kill someone else and the whole game start from the beginning. its about movement. the dodge roll is not just for show it has a use which 99% of the players (especiall warriors) dont get (at least thats the opionion that i have when play dungeons)

and again, i dont say, that this “i kite till u die”-system is the new meta, but its definitely a step into a new era of gaming. so just get over your q.q, take defensive / appropiate utility skills and KITE and therefore adapt into the world of gw2
and maybe in a few years we have some new way of gaming, which fuses the almighty holy trinity and this dynamic kiting gameplay together into some new awesome things.

I had an addon in WoW that blocked all gold spam, it was great. Why can’t we have that here?

dude, this game is like 2 weeks old… just deactivate the chat and im sure there will be an update (either of anet or a mod) that will do that exact same. just be patient

its not only spamming in chat (which i completely ignore cause i deactivate the /map chat for various reasons. btw the chat feature where u can add multiple registers and customise them is superb. i really love it ^.^), recently i receive ~ 5 mails / day that offers me the “best gold sale blabla”. thats a bit more annoying but still a thing i can deal with.

yep, true to that.

in gw1 it was the guild name that had to be unique. i mean imagine if a few million players (just a wild guess, dont know numbers here) have to decide on tags with max range of 4 letters… (yeah not everyone will make their own guild, but u get the idea i hope ;P)
especially for the more “famous” tag names like for me: im in a guild with the tag [war] and i already saw like 6 guilds with the same tag.

No need to buy them, Gw2 will feature consistent free content updates and in-game events going forward. Our goal is to make it so you get more from Gw2 for free than you get from a game you pay a subscription for.

On top of a large amount of free bonus content, we will be expanding on offerings in the Black Lion Trading Company going forward, as well as be doing large-scale expansion content down the road.

We’ll cover a lot of the details on the kind of support and plans we have in place over the next month or so on the Gw2 blog and with our press partners.

i agree in every point.

as soon as i hit the first undead only zone i was like… meh, not mine but well, there are to other zones.
and suddenly they r all the same, or even worse.

a thing u forgot to mention r these… how should i call it random holes and traps:
I’m just running around, climbing over some ruins and suddenly fall into a whole (i didnt glitch through any wall or something, it was really a whole in front of a deadend) and was unable to get out of there and had to port myself to the next waypoint which cost me over 2 silver cause guess what… exactly the next 5 points were contested.

similar things happened to me 3 times in those last three zones

yeah i agree,
it really gives u not much choice for your points atm.
in my build im forced to go heavily on vitality although i would prefer toughness, but there is no gem / accessory that would support that ( i won’t go into further detail, but believe me, i tried many things )

i would prefer the PvE-system 1:1
meaning each armor has its stats (berserker’s xx / Cleric’s xx, … ) + runes (superior rune of the warrior, etc. ) + 1 amulet + 2 earrings + 2 rings + the thing for the back (dont know how its called :/ )

would love to see that ;P

there are the three traits, which apply confusion / cripple / random condition when the Illusion is killed..

i think that should happen as well if u shatter them, cause i just tested it with the confusion and it dont apply.

very well said, i had the same thing with the frenzy, but then i just evaded the stun / broke it… problem solved.
same thing with thieves. I came to a level of play where i kill the thief ~ 75 % of the fights. And if I lose a battle… so what? everyone loses, no need to start senseless q.q-“everything which beats me is OP”-Thread.

Swimming Under The Map

It happened to me like 5 times, that i ported / glitched myself out of the map / through the wall.
Most of the time its when i use some kind of teleport as mesmer (e.g. illusionarry leap -> swap; 2hStaff 2nd skill (forgot name ^^) ), that i am stuck inside of walls or even go completly through them.

here are some examples that i had:
first thing was in the sPvP map “Battle over Capricorn” (or what its exactly called, anyways the map with the sharks ^^ ) an enemy was standing directly @ the wall behind the capping point “Beach” i used illusionary leap and swapped with my illusion and i found myself behind the enemy & behind the wall, unable to go back to the map.
so i just rand further back and fall into the ocean under the map i was unable to go back up, but fortunatelly a shark appeared and nomnomed me

malchors leap: i just used the 2hstaff skill 2 where u port yourself back a bit and leave a clone at your original position. i used it and found myself again in the ocean under the map (it was a terrain with no hill etc i just dropped under the map.
luckily i found a staircase i could stand on and blink myself back into the map

80 dungeon story mode: again with the 2nd staff skill i managed to port myself into one of the cannons on the flying ship. i was unable to move, but ported myself back into the map again with the same skill (staff #2)

hope it kinda explains what happened and u find a solution for it, cause its really annoying =)

i actually use mantra of distraction in 90% of my builds. in pvp its just to strong to disrupt enemies (stop finisher, stop the spin attacks from wari, …) and imho u have enough time between battles to recast the mantra.
But I agree, that they could need some kind of rework.

Get Rid of "Downed" all together in PvP

Downed state is fine, its the 8v8 zergfest thats the problem. In a 5v5 it feels much more tactical/interesting.

A lot of issues are mostly related to the 8v8 format sadly, yet ANet seems to insist in offering this format for whatever reason.

Mesmer/Thief issues? Not much of a problem in 5v5, very much an issue in pub stomping 8v8 zerg fest.

Downed state? Perfectly fine and tactical in 5v5. Comlpetely stupid in 8v8.

Trebuchet in Kylo? Balanced and interesting tactical choice in 5v5. Completely overpowered and free glory for the one rushing fastest to it in 8v8.

Killing guild lord? Risky tactical choice in 5v5. 8v8? Lol, no problem, always rush him for max glory.

Etc.

i dont really support the idea of getting point while standing around afk….

i mean yeah it is definitly good if someone just camps the ruins in the capricorn map , cause its soooo easy to defend alone even against two or three enemies, but imho you should only get points for defending if u really defend it => stop enemies from capping your point.

if u had to aim your cannon at least but you just spam 2. I really hope that he is kinda bugged, cause i really expect it to be way more challenging ^.^

yeah thats what the developers what but all is see is my team balling on 1 point while the enemy caps the map -.-

yeah this is kinda q.q-thread so if u dont have a constructive criticism about it, plz ignore it =)

So for people who dont know the system in gw1 each cap.point got a regen for each member standing on top of it.
so if one blue member is stand on it. it gets +1 life-regen. if two stand on top of it it is +2 and so on.
If an enemy stands on top of it it gets -1 (of your point of view) so if two blue guys and one red guy standing on the point the point the point has a +1regen for blue side.
hope u get the idea

and i want that system in the sPvP of gw2 cause i see it so often that a guardian defends a point alone for minutes against three people (if thats due to stupidity of the three guys is not of the discussion here :P). Resulting in a number disadvantage on the other points of the map. I also have seen that a standard thing is that a guardian is sent to the fortress (forest of niflheim) while the rest of the team slays the creature and caputes their point, while guardian defends attackers against fortress (that may appear there) (thast was in the few tournament matches i played with some friends of mine, maybe i am wrong here)

stuff like that wouldn’t happen if the capute point system of gw1

Anyway, I really hate it when i defend a point alone for like 2 minutes against 3 people and they cant cap it. Meanwhile my team captures the whole map cause they have advantage in numbers and they get tons of points while i dont get anything.
And thats only one example… i can give u several more if needed.

So the point is, if I just want to get fame i just give i kitten about defending points and just cap as many points as i can. ( yeah i know basic rule cap > kill but thats not the point here ;P )
I want to have a point system where things like the example above is rewarded somehow. maybe by getting 5 points for every 30 secs i stop an enemy from capping my point (just an idea).

Opinions?

your pretty much overrating everything…..
i agree that this sPvP system is far from being good, basically because i just hate this capture point stuff, cause people just dont get that cap > kill and i really loved the HA / GvG in GW1 and hope that something similar to that will come again in GW2.

but tbh its far better than you described (and i dont want to go into details here)

i didn’t really read previous discussions or opinions, only the first post and im sorry if i just copy anyone or bring back “old” topics here, but here is what i think:

thief: yeah, the definitely need some kind of nerf. i managed to kinda get most of them with my mesmer, but sometimes they just pop up and like 2-shot me. What i hate most about them is their ability to do like infinite stealth… I don’t even try to finish them in downed, i rather attack them till they die cause they just have so many ways to dodge the finisher. Also i think their healing abilities are insane. I bring them to 25% hp, they go stealth and just appear 3 secs later with full hp and tons of boons.
i have to say though that i never really played thief so i know 100% how they work, but i have a good idea =)

mesmer: in this point i mostly disagree with u. they certainly r annoying, but they r not op (imho). I main mesmer so on the one side u can say i have this like “no my class is not op plz dont nerf it”-opinion, but on the other hand do i know how the mesmer works..
So your point with finding the right one: clones dont really move and dont dodge, so just watch them. if u call the right enemy the target symbol dont disappear if he clones himself. and the biggest point: clones have always full health so if u have damaged the real mesmer just look at the hp bar. Thats basically the easiest way to find the right. to be 100% sure just attack a clone once (yeah it can take a while) cause clones have very low health.
the downed mesmer skill which does confusion on every hit is definitely very strong. but you are overrating the skill a bit. every class has the ability to dodge a finisher some are stronger than others, but yeah what would be the point in exactly same downed skills…
and many mesmer make the mistake to use their stealth clone skill and then start healing ( 4th down skill) with surround them in a blue light. thats basically the yell at you for killing him ^^
the moa morph is very strong in that point i agree absolutely and the portal thing is also very strong if used right.

So all in all i think the mesmer is definitely not op. It is very annoying but thats basically it. if an enemy sees through your abilities and clones your pretty much screwed. But there are many not so smart players out there – and i dont want offend anyone with that statement – who just dont get the mesmer basics and hitting everything they have on the clones.

the first thing is Illusionary Leap -> Swap fails almost everytime… it is hard enough to even get the illusion to jump to your enemy cause it gets stuck like 90% of the time (a small hill is enough, to make the jump fail), so you dont get even the cripple.
if the illusion actually manages to jump to the enemy, most of the time i dont get the root, cause they just dodge it. (thats only in pvp of course)
It is nearly impossible to land your Blurred Frenzy without the root, cause the enemy just rolls out of it, and therefore you dont have any damage output.

The other thing is with click-stuns / dazes like Signet of Domination or Mantra of Distraction. I think its ridiculous that u can dodge / block it and that it requires line of sight…
i mean maybe thats only me, but i get pretty mad if i have an enemy running away and i want to stun him and he just random dodges (or maybe predicts) the stun and it misses.
But at least the line of sight thing must be changed. yesterday i tried to interrupt the spin skill of a golem in a dungeon. But the golem was standing behind a little asura desk (so u can think how big the desk was) and it says “obstructed!”. I was just like WTF ^^
