I opened a topic in the bug report forum, with screenshots. Seems to be happening only in EB, as far as I can see.
I saw it in BLs as well. Does it trigger a defense event?
i think someone data mined some tournament trophies, although they could also be for PvP so…
maybe it is practice for the new defense events at all the keeps/towers!
if they do add this, i hope i can have a spoon cabinet to keep my growing collection in.

Thieves. Engineers. Warriors. Elementalists. Guardians.And for WvW roaming, thieves number are like 5 times more than other classes. Pretty obvious that which class is the most low risk high reward in WvW lol.. Yet you and that Archon guy is defending the most broken class and crying about ranger because that “Sick-em” and “Rapid Fire”may screw you low risks folks up many times.
Your ignorance on thieves becomes more apparent with each post you make on said subject.
1. Thieves can’t stack stealth on a wall. Used to be but that was removed.
2. You like to cherry pick between WvW and PvP on your rants. There are tons of rangers in PvP. There are zero thief teams out there as well. Funny though is your main problem with thief is in WvW. Stick to 1 aspect b/c in PvP thieves are FAR from OP.
3. Provide hard data or stop guesstimating.Here’s a lil fun test for anyone to try. Log onto WvW and stand out in the middle of EBG. Don’t attack anyone, /wave a lot, invite/join enemy parties to chat, and take note which people attack you.
It’ll always be a ranger, and if its not a ranger its a ranger playing his alt.

i think most/all of the arguements against ranger skills are closer to reasons to nerf Ferocity or Air/Fire Sigils more than reasons to nerf the skills themselves. The only way those skills do that much damage is with the aforementioned things (full zerker and Air/Fire). Anyone not running full zerk (because they want to live when a guard gets over there and sneezes) will never do that much.
As for RF requiring more than 1 skill to use, it used to require hunter shot to apply the weakness. I miss applying those 10 stacks of weakness BEFORE even starting to use RF. Wonder how many QQ RF OP threads would show up if they went back to that.

Scarlet didnt break that, Mordremoth did. They are fixing things in the order that they were broken (que work type thing) so it will be fixed about 5 months after the city is.
does it really track through stealth? I know the channel will keep going after stealth is initiated (thats what they do). Wouldn’t going stealth and dodging once get you away from the hits? I mean it will fire regardless of a target, ive fired at nothing before (thats kinda depressing). Ive never played theif so im not exactly sure about this issue.
Release date? Even if they did do a massive rehash of everything, the release date would make it that much better.

There are several categories of achievements that will likely get added:

since they are rare, you would have to soulbind the weapon itself to unlock the skin. You would still not have credit for them. Having the recipe doesnt unlock the skin either.
Having a Ring of Red Death and a crafted ascended ruby ring with an offensive slot and a ruby w/e in the upgrade slot would give the same stats, so the only benefit would be the fact that you could change the upgrade component if you wanted. i could see the defensive slot ring being outdated for the min/maxers, but most people would just use it anyway. The upgrade slot would only make the ring like a legendary (which is legendary in graphic effects, same stats as an ascended). You still wouldnt be able to change the stats, so it would be an ascended item. Anyone that didnt care about effects and min/maxing would just use the laurel rings.
The main factor in cost would be the xunlai electrum and the augur stone for the (lesser) vision crystal. I can see accessories costing 6 xunlai (2 for filigree, 2 for setting, 2 for hook) 7 for a ring (2 filigree, 2 setting, 3 band) and 8 for an amulet (2 filigree, 2 setting, 4 band).
i was looking at jewels and apparently Opals have assassin stats so you can make your own exotic assassin trinkets if you wanted (and it would be ready for ascended if they introduced it-which would generate hype for JC500 on its own im sure)
not sure if i like the idea of making ascended = exotic, but i do like the idea of infusing other insignias into our armor allowing us to change it. I’ll always support that
Personally I’m not sure we’ll ever get 500 Jewelcrafting and Cooking.
Firstly, we already have guaranteed ways of obtaining ascended rings, accessories and amulets- we can purchase them with laurels/laurels+badges of honour or purchase them with guild commendations. If getting to JC 500/crafting ascended trinkets is too costly, very few people would bother doing it as laurels are very easy to obtain. It would be done just for the AP bonus, or to avoid spending laurels…. but would we not have to buy the ascended recipes with laurels anyway?
It would sure make sense though, considering crystalline ingots/xunlai electrum ingots have a space in the material collection tab. These seem to fit JC best, but personally I believe these materials could be a part of legendary crafting.

As for bothering with getting 400 chef/JC… they are certainly not the most useful crafting professions, but I have used mine a few times. I’ve needed both to craft Mawdrey, for instance, and I imagine there will be more Mawdrey-like items released in the future. There is the occasional thing that might be cheaper to craft than to buy from the TP. Also, as a completionist and AP hunter, getting these two crafting profesions to 400 was a no-brainer.
Jewelcrafting would be used by many min/maxers as well as others. I can see 2 benefits with JC 500 that laurel trinkets dont/cant have.
1. Non unique trinkets. Currently all trinkets purchased with laurels are unique. This means that in order to use 2 zerk rings you need Ring of Red Death and Crystalline Band. One has an offensive infusion slot, the other has a defensive. This is the key reason that min/maxers will increase their JC to 500. It will be much cheaper to get to 500 than to make an omni infusion especially a power omni infusion.
2. Upgrade slots. This would make it worth making trinkets with 500 (beyond the reason above). There have been a few upgrade slot items released recently (queen bee and haloween items) that have a graphical change to your character. With this added, the value of JC500 is much more than just crafting trinkets like the laurel ones. Obviously the non upgraded stats would be lower than the laurel trinkets (remember back when ascended rings first came out and had the difference). These new upgrade items are likely pointing to a JC500 update (not that it tells us when).
I think those 2 items would make JC500 appealing enough that many people would use it.

is this price increase all due to the reduction in the number availible (20 now as opposed to 38) or is there some speculating going on? These things were only worth 2ish silver about 4 months ago.

I was aiming for a yearly event, but it could tie into LW easily. Evon would blame Kiel and the Captain’s Council for how long it is taking to repair LA (over a year at this point) and would use that to promote his event (and himself for a possible future election). When LA is repaired, this would be a Black Lion Trading Company promotion event.
This is super random. But really, where do my support Evon Gnashblade tokens come in, I still have a partial stack and I’m not willing to get rid of them without getting something out of it.
i dont think those would get used, but they were my inspiration for the Gnashcoins and i can see them looking similar to each other.
Evon Gnashblade’s Coin Extravaganza (couldnt fit it all in the title)
As the title says, this festival will be provided by Evon Gnashblade and the Black Lion Trading Company. The intent will be to gather up special coins (Gnashcoins?) that will have Evon’s picture on them (because, you know, its his event). They will be earned from all areas of gameplay.
There will be 8 types of Gnashcoins: Copper, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Mithril, Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald. To get the other 7 types of coins, you have to upgrade your copper Gnashcoins via a merchant. This merchant will have various rewards for the coin levels with stuff like food and recipes lower in the list. To get the next Gnashcoin, it would take 5 coins of the previous tier and some copper for the first 4 promotions (5 copper -> 1 silver, 5 silver -> 1 gold, 5 gold -> 1 platinum, 5 platinum to 1 mithril). The last 3 Gnashcoins will take 2 mithril coins and some copper/silver. I’ll cover possible rewards further down in the post.
There can also be some merchants that will take some of your excess materials (including ascended materials, luck, and maybe even ascended rings) and give you coins in return (similar to the Festival of the Four Winds).

i suspect the Elite Spec will require many more hero points than the core specs because it will also have various skins and likely the skills spread in it
They might also go with a vertical progression style implementation where they bloat the numbers. What if the elite spec cost ~200+ hero points to unlock? The trick is that all skill challenges in HoT would be worth more whereas all existing skill challenges are only worth 1 point.
If they do that, playing through the new areas will be required to unlock it, though you’ll likely have to anyways assuming there’s a story behind it. If they don’t do that however, the first elite spec will be quickly acquired and they’ll be able to fit in another one before limiting them to expansions only. In the end, it’s the same – you’re required to play through the new content, as if they raised the level cap.
I think the elite spec is already locked behind a gate, so you will need to play the new stuff just to unlock the reward track to get the stuff. I don’t see them making challenges worth more in HoT than in the normal world (although i do think the track will need more points as stated above). If they want you to get more points in HoT, then they will put more challenges in there.
To answer your questions. No there will likely not be any other way to get hero points because, it seems, Anet wants to have a limited number of them and the only way to do that is to not have them drop from anything. You will need to take your WvW characters to PvE and do some Hero challenges there if you want to unock anything above the 413 you will likely have (that’s 400 from leveling and 13 from the challenges in WvW)
My recommendation is to get as many skill challenges done now so that you get the skill point (which will turn into some mystic forge currency) and get credit when the skill challenge becomes a hero challenge (get the hero point too)

i run triple signet in PvE and often in WvW. Signet of the Hunt is for the speed boost, though ill sometimes use it if im in the middle of the battle since there really isnt a reason not to use it (you dont get the speed boost when you’re in combat, and pets keep you in combat). Signet of Stone is for the 6 seconds of invuln, not much else to say here. Signet of Renewal is for those pesky conditions that always seem to be nearby. Its the only way to get rid of them with my build. Also take Heal as One and Rampage as One. I will sometimes replace SoR with sic em if thieves are especially pesky in WvW. In PvP, i drop the SotH for sic em because most maps are too small to need to run really fast in.
I use soldier LB (force/accuracy) with 4 soldier armor pieces and 2 assassin armor pieces (Pack runes). Trinkets are 1 soldier ring, 1 zerk ring, zerk backpiece, soldier amulet and i want to say 2 soldier accessories but i cant really remember for sure on those. I will likely change my force sigil to Air since my crit rate went up by 10 when i changed from the scrub build i was using before to a 66002 that im using now.
I doubt it sounds impressive or anything, but it does what i want it to and i can survive most of what i encounter.
maybe the QQ topic meta will move on to DH and finally leave us power rangers alone!

MM, Skirmishing, and Druid. Gonna be a druid longbow lol. I’m hoping druid offers some unique benefits to my current build (which will not be changed much at all).
If Druid offers no benefit to my longbow build (or my pet) at all, then i will just get BM and buff my pet or maybe NM for various defensive buffs.
they could create a variant of the minion apocalypse bug. basicly this caused a minion to spawn when a player died. before it was patched, someone getting Dhuumed in a pvp outpost caused it to spawn minions in the outpost where players couldnt attack (videos at bottom of link). They could apply it to towns and when a player dies, dragon minions show up in the town. The townspeople could also be slaughtered by the minions and thus increase the number. Fun and crazy at the same time.
you could use the level 20 birthday scroll and tomes of knowledge to get there. those are free and completely viable.
That siege would be great in somekind of instanced PvP mode where you have set number of attackers and defenders.
Regular WvW, it would just let nightcappers and zergblobs steamroll even more.
it could work with a new EOTM map. I kind of hope they do make all the siege in here and create a map just for it all.

The salvage kit should go back to salvage mode after rare/exo prompt and maybe the kit itself could have a right click option “Suppress rares warning” so that specific chain of salvages would not prompt you.
theres the idea that would work. link the rare warning to the kit. Then everyone can have their rare/exotic salvaging kits set to ignore the warning, and their common kit can keep the warning. It would fit my needs at any rate.
It will still sit in your bank just as it does now. The new trait reset will have no bearing on the indicated item at all
I’m not as annoyed by this because i actually use it(im lazy and just click on everything with my weak salvage kit until i get the message, then salvage with mystic kit). Not that that would stop the need to have a button. I get more annoyed by the “are you sure you want to buy this” message you get whne you buy anything worth something (obi shards x10…carapace armor boxes…anything in a large quantity really).
How will conditions be MORE useful with the advent of condi immunity as a boon? It really seems to me like they want to kill condi roamers altogether.
From what I’ve read, resistance doesn’t remove the conditions when applied. It just makes you immune to their damage and effects when it’s active. The boon itself will probably only last for a very short amount of time as well.
Anyone who plays a stance warrior knows how to abuse condi immunity long enough to kill any condi roamer.
Also, not surprised to see the usual fanboy/shill posts defending any and all changes. Honestly, I believe that if Anet removed all classes except one from the game permanently, there would still be a sizable crowd of sycophants shouting down any opposition.
No, actually everyone is answering your question in the topic title which is “Will we receive gear refunds with HoT?”
The consensus of several posters is a solid no. There hasnt been any discussion about whether they will or not though, but they will very likely not do so. Not every answer is no however, there is at least one person that believes Anet will come to your house and evaluate what you need
The best thing to do would be to wait until this change actually happens. If your build truly is broken, then you can come back here and create a topic stating how broken your build has become and how you have to replace every piece of gear because your old build is completely unsalvageable. Then you will have other people who also have broken builds that can join your cause to get a refund (which will likely not happen).
