The Halls are currently bugged, can’t get more than 5 players in one instance of the map. They are aware and are working on this.

Hi Roy,
I have been playing around with Revenant in a WvW blob-setting ( = 50 v 50 or more ) this weekend. Mostly in a party with 2 Guardians, 1 Warrior, 1 Necro and 1 Revenant.
I found some issues that are really worth looking over:
- the Facets allow you to stack 40 seconds of Fury ( combined with Roiling Mists provides an almost permanent 40% critical chance increase ) and 1 minute of Swiftness for your entire party pre-fight/out of combat; the low upkeep of Facet of Nature allows you to keep it up during the entirety of the fights, which leads to the insane boon stacking out of- and during fights, not only for the boons you apply, but also for the boons your allies apply
- I felt Coalescence of Ruin dealt way too much damage for the the build! I played with. As showcased in these clips ( I suggest looking at the following timestamps: 0.25-0.30; 0.35-0.43; 1.38-1.43; 2.00-2.08; 2.20-2.43 ) , the skill does insane damage ( 2k-4k->4k-6k->6k-8k in three intervals respectively, combined with various damage modifiers ) and it has a short cool down + costs only 5 energy, resulting in it becoming ‘spammable’ or not punishing to use
I would suggest giving Facets a higher upkeep and/or some sort of different mechanic when out of combat. Adjusting the amount of extra boon duration it provides might also be something to consider.
Regarding Coalescence of Ruin, I would increase both energy cost and cool down. Scaling the damage differently could also be an option.

Just to clarify: the changes that are coming are on which population level each server has. The transfer price per population level (Medium, High, Very High, etc.) will stay the same.

I think I’m re-confused. What determines population for a server is going to be WvW data ONLY now (which may cause some servers to change population tiers.). The price to move to each population tier is unchanged. Right?

The new method isn’t based on players currently playing or logged in. It looks at the active WvW population over a period of time.

Some servers will get their population level increased, some will have it decrease. I don’t want to get into too many details before the change is release, because I don’t want to trigger mass-migrations now. People can be weird.
No, EotM won’t be counted towards WvW. I don’t think it’s the same experience, and you can always enter it since it can have as many instances as needed, so there’s really not that same population problem as in “core” WvW.

A few months ago an Anet dev released a video of him and Grouch giving some speech on how they can make GW2 more competitive citing CSGO, Dota, and LoL as examples! Well I posted in that thread with no dev reply about basic fundamentals that all these esports games have that makes them competitive that GW2 lacks: visible MMR, good matchmaking, leagues, rewards! These characteristics make these games extremely competitive and it makes the game look very appealing to newer players who like to compete! I will only make comparisons to CSGO because that is the game I am familiar with but I know for a fact that the other 2 games all have these features!
Anet has stated on multiple occasions that their reasoning for not implementing visible MMR is they think people will BM each other over their rating! To me this is beyond ridiculous! This is the Internet! People will troll and badmouth each other but there is a block feature that completely negates all of that and a report feature for the kids that get out of hand! Not implementing an amazing and necessary feature as a solution for BM is simply not a solution at all! You’re depriving the many of an awesome feature to protect the feelings of a few players! And newsflash! BM happens anyway! We literally get none of the good aspects and all of the bad!
I really like CSGO’s handling of MMR! Instead of a numerical rating, your MMR is displayed as a rank! When you play matchmaking, you will only get paired up with people of the same or near your rank! GW2’s matchmaking pairs up high rated players with low rated players! How does that even happen!
Visible MMR is an important part of the strive to become a better PvPer! In CSGO, most, if not all, matchmaking players constantly try to get better and advance their rank! There are servers that are dedicated just to bettering your aim and they are always packed! There are servers that are dedicated to bettering your game sense and awareness and they are always packed! If GW2 adopted something similar to the CSGO ranking system, you could reward players for achieving a rank with titles and unique armor and weapon skins! These rewards will promote getting better at PvP instead of the current system of receiving chests inside chests inside chests inside chests just for AFKing a game!
Anet has also promised us leagues but has never delivered or even mentioned the subject since then! There are dozens of leagues in CSGO! The most popular one has a monthly fee! People are willing to pay money every month for a league system! If this isn’t an indication that you guys need to get on that, then I don’t know what is! A simple league system can be just a few tiers! A team can sign up as five players with one substitute and be placed in a certain tier based on the average MMR of all the players on the team! Then over the course of a season, which can be just a month, they play a certain amount of games and based on their performance, they can advance a tier, they can be demoted, or they can remain in the same tier! Rewards like unique titles and skins can be given to teams who reach a certain tier! Maybe at the end of each month you can stream the teams with the best records going against each other to determine the champion of that tier! That team can receive additional unique titles, skins, and gems as prizes! Everything about this system promotes bettering yourself and your GW2 skillz and it rewards you for that and that alone! We may even see some new teams with fresh faces enter and rejuvenate the stagnant high level PvP scene!
Like I said, these are some basic characteristics that make games competitive and literally every single esports game or most viewed competitive games on Twitch have these features! And then to give a speech wondering why this game isn’t competitive… it’s just beyond me! I don’t think these features would even be hard to implement as an understaffed department but that’s just my uninformed opinion! Anyway that’s my rant for the month and I don’t expect a dev reply so…

TLDR: Game needs visible MMR, leagues, better matchmaking, rewards for getting better at PvP
This isn’t a bad trait, but I think it’s clear that Anet wants to make Explosives the direct damage focus and Firearms the Condi focus. I’m not averse to the Teldo build though; and this iteration definitely gives Rabid Bombs good pressure.
One thing I would like to see is for bombs to be thrown forward as baseline to improve their offensive capability and their telegraph.
Firearms Adept: New Pistol Trait, Condition Focus.
- Potent Coagulants: Reduced recharge on Pistol skills by 20%. Foes entering Glue attacks are inflicted with Slow (4s). Foes may only be affected once. This trait will strengthen Pistol offhand’s Glue Shot utility, as well as promote synergy between Glue Bomb, Glue Trail, and Condition builds, especially in larger fights.
I don’t know about this one. Slow being anti-Quickness is extremely powerful because it also increases cast times. I would rather Immobilise durations be increased for Glue attacks. 1 second is not great; especially now that 30% Condition duration is lost.
In unfriendly environments not conducive to spamming Bomb1 (All but instanced PvE and Frontline WvW), Bombs are entirely condition based. There will be a ton of condition users opting for Explosives, a the traits lay right now. Observe the Grandmaster Shrapnel trait and Pistol getting explosion status, if you have your doubts!
Also, my Glue suggestion was primarily for the large scale WvW applications of the game, as everybody game-wide is going to be chained to them. Engineers are pretty lacking in large scale deathmatch utility. I think the sheer amounts of blasts that are becoming available to Engineers will help that cause slightly, but it’s still a demographic that should be catered to.

Remember that Firearms still needs a condition oriented trait in the Adept department, I’d have to insist there be one there. Yes, it’s quite tiresome that Conditions go from effective to laughable based on the size of engagements.
What if some experimentation was done with a very limited number of abilities applying a condition that was not able to be removed with general purpose condition removal?
It’d certainly provide a big incentive to bring that ability along, if it had the power to apply a single short duration slow to everyone entering a choke, or something. I think you know what I’m getting at.
That would involve new technology though. Generally, conditions across the entire game have fallen to the wayside, outside of extremely small roaming in WvW/PvP. Some updates to the condition application/removal mechanics via traits could be nice.
@CDR based on actions per minute, I think I have no problem with that.
@Modified Ammunition, it could definitely replace Target the Maimed, and a new power-oriented Master trait could replace it. It’s a passive damage boost and is pretty disappointing as a ‘choice’ to take.
@Net Attacks doing a 200 dash forward, I just can’t picture that animation, lol.
@Incendiary Powder, whatever, as long as it functions well, and people who maximize invuln frames and aim to dodge every auto-attack don’t become too effective at mitigating all damage.

Just pls Devs! I’m having a blast, finally able to finish a fight within secs instead than spend “half day” , playing boring matches against full bunker teams sitting on point.
For the love of god, have mercy on my liver ; for months I had to endure the suffering brought down by those ridiculous premades running double shoutbow/engi or double guardian, not even with a freaking zerk staff I had enough damage to down a single one of them, tanky as hell with kittenload of healing
Just think about it! People want to see fast fights, true esport fans don’t enjoy neverending fights, do not bring back the snoozefests.
I can finally spec and see actual damage, i can finally down those bunkers that seemed to never die, premade or not.
Sure some things like burning scaling , celestial and other will need a revision but overall the patch is great; the direct damage increase is fabulous, it will bring forth a new meta.
Players may finally learn the meaning of rotations and leave behind the old notion of “toughness and protection stacking then zerg from point A to B”.
Just no knee jerk nerfs pls
How come leaderboards are only viewable on the site and not in the pvp interface we have in game. If anything it creates a disconnect between the player and the game. Ofc leaderboards would have to be meaningful first.

I really love Courtyard and it’s Team Deathmatch scene.
As a vavid WvW Roamer, I’m used to fight small scale and this is just the thing to amuse myself.
I’ve played over 20 ranked games so far and won all of them (solo).
- 4-5 of them were Courtyard with PUG’s aswel *
Alot of ppl here are complaining, but don’t be fooled.
The majority of the community actually likes the map.
Proof? Go into Ranked games and await the ‘Map Vote’. There you see mostly 60-70% actually chooses Courtyard. And I bet Anet can see it too in their logs.
The people complaining here have either:
a) No idea what to do in small scale teamfights, due it differs from Conquest
b) No team/premade and queue solo; then rage at Anet for that (lol?)
c) Play at unbelievable times when most ppl go work/school and get mad for facing a tougher team
d) Have an afk’er in their midst.
e) They need to crawl out of their “Meta-Cave”, making them feel insecure.
This is just like Skyhammer (which I don’t like) and this SHOULD stay in the Map Rotation. The Map Voting is just too obvious; most of the majority actually prefers it.
Face it, some ppl won’t like it while others do.
Others like Skyhammer when I don’t.
Personal Preference.

Hello all, me and a friend have made a soloQ spreadsheet just for curiosity before the patch, and decided to share our results. Spreadsheet can be found here:

To summarize it, we got following results:

But what we did notice is that maps tends to have ’streaks’, especially at the end of the spreadsheet where we got 8 kyhlos from 12 matches, or 6 skyhammers from 8, but maybe this was just a coincidence.

Average queue pop wait: 139,30s or 2:19
Additional: 1 match ended 500-500 and 1 match ended 501-0 (5v5) One match ended by timer.
5 matches (5,43%) ended 5xx-0xx.
Best queue time for best matches was ~17:00 CET and ~21:00 CET imo.
Pops were pretty random, sometimes you could wait 5 minutes and the next day at the same hour, you could get instapops.

I know that this spreadsheet has one constant factor: us. Which makes it unable to reflect the 100% reality.

Pug logs into map, sees commander tag up and running with orange swords near an objective. Pug thinks, “HMMMM I could use some XP for my uplevel ranger”, pug begins running toward tag.
Meanwhile at the tag your “guild group” is engaging the enemy and working hard to have a good fight. Ranger uplevel dude arrives, you start to get downs in the enemy zerg, pug ranger goes HAM on GS cause he heard maul got buffed. Upleveled ranger is now downstate cause bad, enemies rally….
That is why guild raids privately.

from what i c, that red damage got increased significtly.
Before even if u had 3k power the ret would be not more then 280-290, right now i’m rarely getting those numbers but all retaliations hits 300+. They really ninja increased the scale to almost back what it was long time ago.
what he said. retaliation is hitting harder than before this latest patch, but still not quite as hard as pve/pre-wvw nerf.

Personally i have been approached by Kodash, Deso and Gandara in recent weeks to move my 1 man guild “Kill me or I tag your [Keep]” to their servers but i think i will stay put in SFR for the time being.

How can a single class “win” these balance changes, when the only upside for everyone is if all classes become more balanced?
Which they don’t IMO, due to once again this constant focus on sPvP changes prevailing. But in any case, either we all win or we all lose, independent of what we play.

Good luck Anet. I really hope that these listed in the feature pack is not the only improvements coming to WvW. I do not know if your realize how close the WvW communities in GW2 have come, and while it is a great feat for your game, your refusal to reward our commitment and dedication is going to cost you dearly. From what I can gather WvW is filled to the brim with players that have been here since the start. And our patience is at an end. With the release of Archage being F2P, every player in every WvW guild is probably going to at least try it. And since whole guilds are going, the odds of a majority not coming back are increased. You insist on devoting all your time and resources to making living story, and fail to realize why people play MMOs. People do not play MMOs to travel around doing solo instances. They play Online to play with other people. All stories come to an end. So no matter how good or long you make your story’s, people will beat them and be done with them one day. PvP on the other hand, there is always a new battle right around the corner, an enemy you haven’t faced or a tactic you haven’t seen. Only humans can bring originality and surprise to game play, your Ai can only fool us once. This is why the vast majority of all online play is PvP (Every FPS, RTS, etc). Why do you think games like counter strike and star craft were played endlessly? because of the campaign modes? hardly. its because both those games were exclusively pvp, and people(fans primarily) were able to customize and create new and exciting pvp maps and modes to play against each other. If you aren’t going to give us any new WvW content, then at least open it up so we can. Otherwise your game is doomed. All Stories come to an end, but there is always a good pvp battle to find, I guess the question is are you going to host the pvp battles in Tyria? or are you going to make us go somewhere else?
