Good day,
Tequila is horribly overtuned. Here are all his problems and how to fix them so the event is slightly more than a ragdoll simulator while banging on a reinforced concrete wall.
1. He has too much HP, period, end of discussion. Reduce HP by 50%.
2. If you’re gonna cover 80% of the fight area with green fire, at least have the decency either to have the fire not 3-shot you or make it remotely visible.
3. Too much CC. I know you’re in love with CC-spamming HP sponges, but this is WAY too much. Have the barely visible water wave on a watery surface NOT knockback you into the conveniently placed aforementioned 3-shotting green fire; it should just do significant damage instead.
4. Elites in overworld. Really? As if the vet/champ adds with plenty of CC aren’t enough, there were elites in the event. Remove them, period.
I give this encounter a -1/10.
That is all.
I’m insinuating that Arah is more difficult than all the other dungeons.
Eh… well , it DOES have more CC-spamming HP sponges than the other dungeons, yes.
Clearly it’s a sign that you should all stop doing the easy dungeons and join the Arah master dungeon.
Surely you’re not insinuating Arah is hard.
What result are you looking for with this thread in specific?
Not OP obviously, but this change has effectively killed ALL my incentive to ever run dungeons more than once a day. Back in the day™ I used to run multiple dungeons on my characters but now there is no reason to do so.
Hopefully it’ll get reverted. But it’s the smart and sensible thing to do and we KNOW Anet can’t do that.
What’s the problem?
Lack of good rewards for difficulty in dungeon content leads to picking a daily dose. Repeating the same daily dose day in day out leads to stagnation and burnout. Burning out leads to my entire static group leaving the game altogether.
That’s the bloody problem.
So uh…
2 SE paths, 2 CoF paths, 2 TA paths, full CoE, full HotW, 2 Arah paths? AKA the daily dose I’ve been running since bloody December?
Sure changed much.
But I’ve pressed 2 to win against everything back in October…
Temporary content considered harmful.
Holy. kittening. kitten.
Dude, I’m impressed as kitten.
AR isn’t hard, it’s just annoying.
… and how to fix it.
Now, before y’all go “l2p scrub”, I thought this dungeon was easy, albeit annoying and cleared it as soon as I got a group. However, here are some major flaws with it that need to be addressed.
1. Kiel bugging out right before Mai. Just fix it.
2. Mai takes too long and is boring and repetitive. Instead of 4 boring phases make them interesting, like 100%->50%, cannons (only ONCE), different mechanics on 50%->0%, Horrik enrage that can actually wipe you, not just building frenzy stacks and dying like a scrublord.
3. Spinning lasers can spawn right on top of you with no warning. Have them phase into existence like the shield on Evolved Destroyer.
4. Supercharged golems both block AND daze while being able to push/pull you into the laser wall while you’re dazed. Add a 1 second ICD on their buff and consider removing one of their block/daze buffs.
5. Both CC-spamming and chain buffing trash just yells “bring stability and buff removal”. Catering to meta at best, just have them do less bloody conditions.
6. Holdout event vs. tons of trash in point 5 is boring. Make it quicker but with harder-hitting cannons and maybe a single champ that spawns once all adds are dead.
7. Didn’t we learn that putting progression-blocking events into NPC hands is a bad idea yet? Why not have Kiel tag along with the party except have her be actually useful and has no say in dungeon progression?
8. It’s temporary. ’nuff said.
And finally. No rapier/pistol skins. Add them as a guaranteed drop from Mai, or better yet, as a reward for completing all the achievements.
Overall I gave AR a 6/10. It’s not MWF quality but if it’s a team’s first project, I’m willing to let it slide.
That is all.
I find groups all the time with that attitude. And no one carries me, because I wouldn’t team with a min/maxer or an efficiency nut. So no one has to carry me. I’ve often carried other people and that’s completely fine. I don’t mind helping out.
It’s one of the best things about being in a community.
Good for you. I personally wouldn’t take you in, though.
It’s nobody’s business what gear I run, which runes I choose, how I spec my character, or anything else.
In open world, yes. In a group, no.
I won’t run dungeon’s who insist I ping gear. I don’t want to explain to someone why I chose (for example, a cavalier amulet over a beserker one).
Enjoy your 1-hour paths, my good man.
I definitely don’t want to have to listen to a “helpful” person explain to me how it’s the best way to add critical damage is to get beserker pants.
So basically what you’re saying is “up yours buddy, you’re carrying me whether you like it or not”. Good luck finding groups with that attitude.
helps when grasts actually casts the kitten bubble instead of continue to attack normally and leave us to die.
This, Hodge’s stupid feature on 2nd scepter and Detha featuring out at traps are the main reasons we (my group) stopped running AC altogether.
I’ve had a ranger not only DPS bosses faster than the zerk war but also take out the gate in about as fast as my theif.
So you played with horrible warriors and thieves. We all did.
I’m a rebellious kitten and will not be dictated, I will wear what I want.. Enough said.. Have a good day.
Good luck finding groups, good sir. I know for sure you will not be welcome in mine.
I guess I should ask more directly… how does gear tell you that I am built for group play?
If your gear contains an inkling of MF, you’re not built for group play.
That’s just one example, others really depend on your class.
Except that finding a group of elitists takes far longer than it takes for a group of people to complete the content with less popular builds.
The people who are you’re referring to as “elitist” won’t pug to begin with. They have static premades who they’ve been working with for years, carrying over from other games.
The people who won’t go CoF1 unless they have 4 zerker warriors and 1 mesmer are either scrublords who don’t know anything else or people who intend to farm the path for a few hours.
If that particular gear is destroying diversity – then yes, that’s what I said. Except for the warrior part.
When there is an optimal gear setup there will be no diversity among people who know how to play and want to extract the maximum of their class’ potential. There will always be an optimal gear setup.
See where I’m going here? Your attempts to ‘diversify’ gear are futile.
Go to gw2lfg – you’ll see tons of “zerker warrior and 1 mesm only” – wth is with that?
CoF1 farmers. Pay them no regard; repeatedly doing the same thing for hours on end every day will burn you out extremely fast.
Instead – they only look for berserker – no soldiers, no others (not even sure if they would allow knights). And they specifically look for a class now.
Soldier and knight are inferior to zerker. Nothing inherently wrong in looking for the optimal setup.
How cool is that? I need to either create a zerker warrior/mesm to play/farm?
If all you ever intend to do is farm CoF1 until it’s getting “fixed”, then yes. Otherwise, feel free to roll whatever you wish.

They should increase the damage of mobs so those zerkers will have a hard time – seriously.
“Hey guys let’s kitten the most used gear because this guy doesn’t like it and would rather play healing shout warrior”.
This is what you just said.
My gear is none of your friggin business
You’re right. Until you’re in any group play where the needs of the 4 other players far outweigh your needs to MF leech, be in cleric gear or whatever.
You’ll figure that out when you are sitting in the city spamming for a group and can’t find one.
Why don’t you just go “+4 dungeon train” in /g and have a full party within a minute?
(edited by Iehova.9518)
Celestial anything is bad. Stop using it.
Funnily enough Lehova is proving our point that gear inspect is a bad thing because it’s just making it quite clear the attitude that people have and how much it would effect the casual player.
1. My name begins with an ‘i’.
2. Casual players do not care if they’re being inspected or not. Bads, MF leeches, 5-signet/healing shout warriors, condition damage guardians and the rest of people who do not know their classes and expect being piggybacked do.
3. It’s spelled “affect”.
4. There is nothing inherently wrong with the ability to see what other players are wearing. You do not have to party with elitist jerks, they already have static groups to steamroll all the content.
I’m going to post this over and over in every “BAWWW COF1 FARMING BAWW” thread until it finally sinks in.
Skipping is not an exploit, your argument is invalid.
Running away from the mobs in Crea’s event is not an exploit, your argument is invalid.
My no-mesmer group clears CoF1 in 8 minutes, your argument is invalid.
You do not care what other players are doing when it does not affect you in any way, shape or form, your argument is invalid.
All Arah trash should be vets anyway.
This is a great idea, it lets me know which groups to avoid. The second someone asks to check my gear I can leave and find someone I’d rather play with.
You don’t understand. With a feature like /inspect, you will be checked for gear anyway and probably kicked immediately after.
Are the people who want /inspect because they demand perfection from their random group mates the same people claiming the game is too easy?
Erase that word and you’ll have a ‘yes’ from me.
There really is no such thing as a vastly superior build in GW2 – but people think there is.
Prove it.
Like the whole obsessions some have with ‘zerker’ – a notably inferior choice in many situations that because it works when you glitch runs of CoF p1/2… people are obsessed with.
Disregard what I posted earlier, you have no idea what you’re talking about.
So basically it’s ‘play my way or don’t join’, regardless of the fact said person may have a build that doesn’t hold the team back, and may very well contribute?
No. I always give benefit of the doubt. It’s “what’s your build? why aren’t you build-i’m-used-to-running and why do you think it’s superior?” first. Then I see whether to keep this guy or not.
Before my mates started to play, I used to pug, keeping to AC mostly because I liked the weapons. Despite having rares, I was still refused because I didn’t have exotic gear.
Well, it’s not like crafted gear is expensive or anything.
Horrible in THEIR view, that’s the problem here. My characters all have great builds and can hold their own in most fights, I don’t need elitists whining about my build because it doesn’t measure up to THEIR standarts.
That’s great. For solo play. In a group it is more than reasonable to expect everyone to play with the group’s interest in mind.
And I suppose you decide what kind of build everyone should play with?
No. There’s 4 of us to tell the 5th guy what to roll, how and why is it better than his current way.
Even more reason to keep /inspect out of this game so people like you might get off your ‘you play what I want, up yours’ high horse.
Oh no, feel free to play whatever you want, you just won’t be in my groups, s’all. No hard feelings and I won’t hold anything against you.
I’m too used to being refused groups before I’ve even played with them based on gear and not my skill / knowledge of my class and encounters to be able to agree to an /inspect option.
Maybe there’s a reason for that? Just suggesting.
(edited by Iehova.9518)
There you have it, gentlemen. For people who run with a static and/or friends, this is not an issue.
More of an issue are people who quit dungeon when something goes wrong than lack of the pre-run checking of the item build.
Blacklist, replace, finish dungeon, enjoy money. It’s THAT simple and has worked for yours truly many times.
(edited by Iehova.9518)
We’re against /inspect because, while our build may be effective and our gear adequate (Exotic gear isn’t a ‘must’ for regular dungeons), you’ll get the elitists barring people from groups because builds don’t tie in with what they believe is the ‘right’ spec.
Then don’t roll with the “elitists” and get your own groups. Merciful Kormir, this isn’t rocket science.
Don’t pug, problem solved.
So let me get this straight. You guys are against /inspect because you’re afraid people will judge you by horrible gear, a spec that doesn’t make any sense and won’t be allowed into groups?
That’s even MORE reason to add /inspect so you guys might get off your “I play what I want, up yours” high horse and do what you’re needed to do in group play.
No game or developer is perfect so they need some sort of safety net (in this case DR) just in case there are flaws with what they created.
Excuse for bad design.
That’s not to excuse bad design though, they really need to fix up some of the dungeons.
Mutual exclusion detected. Does not compute.
But I also see a need for DR to stop players from profiting from exploits and poor design.
Here’s an idea. How about they remove the features and fix the poor design? That way the problem solves itself without punishing people for playing the game.
Considering the crypt AC has become, I wouldn’t expect much.
Except dungeon tokens need to stack to 1380 at the VERY LEAST in order to become viable.
Oh look, a thinly veiled anti-skipping thread.
Skipping is not an exploit, your argument is invalid.
Give us MWF quality trash and we won’t skip.
Sounds like “they got scrapped” to me, to be honest.
Yeah, no. Dungeon DR should never have existed to begin with.
…but it can also be annoying if you have a “pro” Warrior with full cof set in your group
Obligatory “CoF set does not scrub make” comment.
I don’t see how being ranged or melee has anything to do with it. But if it matters to you, I’m 100% melee in everything I do.
You just proved his point. Melee’ing Lupus is more challenging by far.
So… a solo “story mode” to unlock a “group mode”?
It makes no sense. I expected nothing and I’m still disappointed.
It’s not hard to get wealthy in this game.
Enlighten me. "Playing the game" is not the way.
10g is impressive but no where near the richest people in the game.
Really?
I would have sworn I read some where that they were going to do away with culling in pve with the May 14th patch…
It wasn’t done™.
Here’s to hoping it gets done™ this time.
Sentinel != Soldier, your argument is incorrect.
You obviously have no knowledge what the bug was about.
One PM later, I’m fully aware of the now-removed feature.
It made all classes dealing about same amounts of damage, which was a good thing in my opinion.
Homogenization is never a good thing.
Because why should warriors do more than x5 damage of a mesmer? Why?
The way I see it, swinging a huge sword in your face ought to do more damage than sending a precious pretty purple image that bursts into butterflies to your face.
There is no reason for it because this game doesn’t have tanks or healers, which the mesmer wouldnt be one either. 6 of 8 professions could seriously use a 200% damage boost – at least.
Oh just reroll warrior if you want to be useful see big numbers. I did.
That’s a very good question, OP. Why play an unterklass?
Let’s face it. That bug brought balance to the game, now its 6 rubbish professions again unless there isn’t a kittening lot to reflect (making mesmer viable).
What the hell are you on about?
When i see those impressive 1.2k 1.2k 1.8k autoattacks on lupicus from my mesmer…
… i have to say im not impressed at all.
Because mesmers are a DPS class.
