Yep, completely possible. All you need to run the game is Gw2.dat, the shortcut with the logo, and whatever is in the bin folder. Then just move it to a folder wherever your friend wants on their computer.

WvW went down about 10mins ago on NSP, so I’m assuming its down for good.

It’s still the most broken easy thief spec to play in WvW, and anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves.

OP, I play full zerk P/D and while I am much squishier, I am seeing a lot more numbers due to the DPS buffs. I regularly hit 6-7k Shadow Strikes against squishy targets, combined with the insane damage from CnD and Air/Fire, it’s great.

Now, against Mesmers and Guardians however, I am finding I’m having a lot more trouble. Power Mesmers are easy to deal with due to them usually dying in one combo, but I just walk away from Hybrid or Condi Mesmers, it’s just not worth the trouble.

I think OP is asking how he actually equips weapons.

You have to buy any rarity weapon that you want to use and have it equipped, this will automatically be BiS. Then at the top of the screen there is a button that says PvP build. Click that and you will be able to choose your traits (which are separate from PvE), change your runes and sigils and pick an amulet.

You can try it out but I urge you to not get used to it. Condi Thief builds are generally very low risk/high reward, and really don’t help you to improve at all in the long run.

The most basic and useful combo with d/d would be:

From range, precast Cloak and Dagger(5)>Steal(F1)>circle behind target>Backstab(1)

After that just autoattack for 3 seconds then press CnD again and repeat. Or if the enemy is low on health at that point just press Heartseeker(2).

*The way precast works is you press steal while the animation is still going for CnD, steal is instant cast so it will port you to the enemy and then CnD will hit, causing you to stealth.

Unfortunately, 90% of people who volunteer for this will only do it so they can be the first ones to play the patch and figure out changes in the market etc.

It’s literally the second FAQ down, how did you miss it?

Improvisation randomly selects one of the 5 skill types (Venoms, Signets, Traps, Tricks, or Deceptions) to recharge, so it will not necessarily choose a skill type that you are using.

When you see them use black powder, 99% of the time they will HS through it to gain stealth, if you have 6 in trickery and sleight of hand, now is the time to quickly interrupt their HS, this will make them lose a lot of initiative and be vulnerable for a little bit.

If they do manage to get in to stealth, try to imagine where they are at by estimating the time it would take to get to your back, which is where they will be going. S/D has a lot of evades and you can dodge at the end of the 3 or 4 seconds they are stealthed, this will sometimes work and the thief will be forced to restealth. You could even be tricky and try your CnD when you think they’re at your back, just remember not to spam it.

what 1% are you talking about? People that are rich? You don’t need gold to have fun in this game.

The bot’s are not that bad in most of the game and anyone buying from gold sellers run the risk of losing their accounts.

If you want to play the build you want, why not just start your own group and say everyone is welcome.

There will always, ALWAYS, be meta builds etc. It’s just the nature of gaming, people want to be rewarded as quickly as possible. I don’t see how this has to affect your own play experience though.

The S/D part of your build gives you the illusion that P/D also works in a power build. Hybrid maybe, but not straight up power.

You’re completely wrong but I see that you are dead set in your ways. I will not argue further, but unless you are part of the class balance team at Anet then I really don’t see how you can say exactly how it is designed.

And I mainly use S/P to clear camps so your second point is null.

I don’t play condition thief because it’s cheesy and promotes bad play habits. I don’t play Necro because I don’t particularly enjoy the class. I play power because I like the risk associated with it and the reward of seeing high numbers.

All I said to OP was power does work with p/d, which you concede that it does indeed work. Telling me I am wrong for playing a class the way I want to play, that isn’t “meta” and ridiculing me for it is low, especially when it came from nowhere and added nothing to the conversation.

You keep playing your “only one way is right” meta builds and I’ll stick to playing builds I actually enjoy.

I don’t believe that P/D was “designed” as a strictly condition set. Aside from bleeds and torment (which was added almost a year after launch btw and is the more powerful condition) the set doesn’t even have that much condition application, and is carried by the fact that you can stack bleeds quickly.

Do I deny that it is good at being a cheesy no brain condi machine gun? No. But to say it was designed only for that and using it any other way is wrong is close minded, especially when you haven’t come up with any valid points as to why power is bad besides “other things do the job better”.

As long as it remains as useless as it is, the weapon set will always be mediocre for power leaving little reason to choose it over anything else. Sneak Attack isn’t too great either.

It’s a 1-2k AA (more if using fire/air) from 900 range, 1050 if traited. It’s not the greatest but it’s in no way “useless”.

Shadow Strike scales immensely with power, I often get 5 – 7k bursts from literally pressing one button on squishy targets, not to mention it puts me out of range of melee counter attack and applies torment on top of it.

As someone who would love to run this but due to the stated problems will not, I wholeheartedly agree.

Not everyone is in a jumping puzzle and has the time to wait until initiative comes back or the cooldown runs out.

In a life or downed situation I’d take having the shadowstep not do anything then waste initiative or a CD that could otherwise be spent saving my kitten .

I’m really going to miss this trait if they do remove it, it was excellent for getting the jump on other thieves.

Well where would the fun be in that? It would be a video of me dodging zergs and maybe finding one or two good fights.

I didn’t claim it to be the best set available to thief, it’s a set that works for me and is fun to use, and that does indeed make it as good as I make it out to be.

I’d rather not since it’s just basically full zerk armor and trinkets and I’m sure there are many up already. Traits are typical Trickery build, with Long Reach instead of Bountiful Theft, Executioner and Mug.

I use the trap because I’ve found it an extremely useful stun, especially when you get the jump on other thieves, just precast it with steal and it will drop them 90% of the time, then you just CnD>1>3 and its over if they don’t have a shadowstep available. Also, it’s saved my kitten a couple of times while I’ve been on the run at low health. (I also like it because no one ever suspects it, and they’re kinda like wtf..)

I also like sitting on the trap when facing a thief and when I see it proc, either Cnd or press 3 (you’ll know it hit when you teleport away) or get out S/P and spam away.

I do swap it with blinding powder quite often depending on the situation

As for secondary weapons, tbh I mostly have S/P as my camp clearer and to get swiftness from a lot of mobs at once, I usually just stay with P/D when engaging targets. I know it’s not ideal but I have never been too good at weapon switching lol.

Build is 26006 full zerk with air and fire. I thought I’d try something different from the boring Condi P/D and I’m having a ton of fun with it. My second set is S/P with fire and speed.

I had a dell years ago, marketed as a “Gaming computer”.

One day I decided to go out and grab a new video card, took it all apart and found out that I had a 25$ motherboard and a 350 watt PSU, which wasn’t even enough for the current set up I had.

Looks like aside from what they list as selling features, they fill it with junk components and hope you don’t ever open up the system to find out what you actually bought.

I don’t think people can call themselves loyal if they can’t take 2 extra seconds to find a node outside of their home instance, but that’s just my opinion.

And at the same time I have had exactly 0 disconnects since the patch hit.

Perhaps it’s a problem on your end?

Do you use the CnD>Steal combo? This will not work with stealth on steal traited.

Also are you sure you’re actually losing stealth? sometimes i get bugs where I’m still stealthed but I can see my character as visible. Check your boons and conditions area for the stealthed/revealed icon.

I’m sorry but this is hugely relative to your own tastes. There are plenty of good looking armors from level 1-60.

Just because you don’t like them, doesn’t mean they’re not good looking.

I like to use the Vampire Bat. Sometimes it even makes it harder for enemies to anticipate my movements when they’re following the mini around.

I can tweak it quite a bit depending on your preferences.

Are you finding that the Thieves are using basilisk venom to stun you with steal? What utilities are you using? As a newer Thief you should be at least using Shadowstep and SR, if not blinding powder as well.

Set your cast setting to instant on mouse pointer and always be ready for a Thief Steal>CnD combo, I have my Shadowstep hotkeyed to my mouse and my thumb sitting on the button at all times.
As soon as you see the enemy Thief, either open up first with a combo or be ready to disengage. If you do get hit first, as soon as you get hit, Shadowstep to get out and then turn to face the thief’s last position. At this point you want to be always moving and spinning your character around.
Please, never run in a straight line away or you’ll be eating a Backstab almost right away. Always be counting down in your head how long the Thief will be stealthed for. 75% of the time it will be 4 seconds (especially facing D/D Thieves) but be ready for 3 seconds. Don’t spam dodge, think about how close the Thief probably is and use that to determine when to dodge. I like to sometimes turn around and CnD if I have some initiative to spare, it’s great fun if you end up hitting them.
Use ambients to your advantage, always. Be aware of your surroundings, use tower walls to stealth and if you have to chain stealth to gain some footing, do it. Don’t run in Rambo style with no initiative because you will die. Unless you’re playing condi, forget Death Blossom exists.

Honestly, this will all come from experience as you grow with the class. You will learn what works and what doesn’t and when you do, you can be certain that that other Thief is thinking mostly the same way. Use this to your advantage.

I could go on and on and on but this should give you something to think about.

Good luck with it. In my opinion Thief is the most fun and rewarding class in the game, providing you’re willing to put in the effort.

If it has legendary stats, it should count as a legendary item and count towards the achievement.
