Any form of restrictions will create their own problems and have potential for abuse. Some arena based games have a voting system which may work for WvWvW although it has the potential of course to to be abused and affect innocent people.

The idea is that you can vote to kick a player from WvWvW which would give a temporary ban for example (maybe an hour, maybe a day). Vote would need a fairly large number of voters, for example off the top of my head 80% of the players in the server(minimum of 20 people perhaps?) and get 95% agree to kick.

Right now, there is nothing stopping someone transferring from an enemy server (besides the cost and time) and continuously sabotaging siege and supply. This is an issue that has been around for a long time but some people seem to be taking it to extremes lately.

Now that we have the new mists pvp area, the banned players would still have somewhere where they can play so it isn’t the limiting factor it would have been if introduced prior to this change. It would at least be a temporary measure to limit the damage caused and give some defense and response to spies and saboteurs.

When I take the Veteran Karka health to 0 the first time they regenerate to full health and only die when they’re taken to 0 health for the second time. This doesn’t seem right to me. You shouldn’t have to take their health down to 0 twice.

ok its official……there where no winners at hills on TCBL…….the amount of time lost and the lag was insane also lol. but seriously I was having a blast for the first 6 days of the assault lol but congrats TC on holding, I guess you have earned some of my respect.

Yup we won. TC wiped both FB and DA, or was it FD and BA…. they kinda blurred together. It was a sea of dead red players everywhere.

"Report" only?

Bumping this as I find this very annoying. When in WvWvW and trying to create a party from guild panel, the only options given when selecting guild members is “Report”. I should be able to send emails, add to group etc.

This bug has been around for a while now and I’ve been expecting a fix as I’m sure it is affecting a lot of people.

Remove Armor Repair From WvW

Game is soft enough as it is. How about the game is changed so you drop everything in your pack pack including any gold when you die so the bags you pick up are actually from the people you kill. That would make things more interesting.

You can grind 5 gold an hour in PVE and if you are dying that much in WvW then you need a time out anyway.

I was getting as low as 8 FPS when there were 15+ people around using an Intel i3, 8gb ram, Nvidia GTX 660. By swapping out only the cpu (and motherboard) to an i5, I now get over 30 FPS which is acceptable. To me, this game definitely needs an Intel i5 or equivalent.

Botting and Trebuchets

So….a tarnished coast trebuchet has been shooting the exact same spot on the exact same enemy keep for approximately 6 hours now.

I know there are such “keypresser programs”(forgot the exact name) – you just set the key(s) and the time/interval(“for example: press 2, hold 5 secs and release, repeating each 6 secs”) and that’s how it goes. Is it botting? Well, you can try to destroy the treb, so I don’t think so. Is it moral to do in wvw? Hmm…

Automating actions would be considered botting. Many keyboards can do it and there are plenty of third party tools but it is disappointing to think that people are doing this , especially the server which is winning.

I completely agree with this statement. I’m sure that these sorts of responses would be 99% of them, and they will get in the way of team comms and chat with friendlies.

It’s bad enough seeing enemy emotes which at times flood chat. If enemy chat is ever set up I hope they give the ability for individuals to disable it.

Hide Player Names?

Feel so dumb right now cuz’ I don’t get what this topic is about.

By default, all player names are seen above their character so when you look in their general direction you will see red or green text (depending on how far away they are).

The proposal here is to hide enemy text (above the character) so unless you are looking directly at them you won’t see the text, which allows people to avoid confrontation easier.

At the moment, a quick 360 pan with mouse will show up enemies close by but without the red names above them you would easily miss the enemy.

I’m not sure about this one. Perhaps the range where names are visible should be looked at so you have to be closer before you see them perhaps.

TC complains about our defense, but after fending them off in their home borderlands for 3-4 hours and upgrading a keep in the process, what happens at night you log in and go there and us FA have the outmanned buff. Defense is tough when outmanned 4 to 1 regardless of what server you are.

Can I get a score update, and a map view to see how badly we’re being beat at the moment?

Perhaps, allow a maximum number allowed to be built per person concurrently. Allow the owner to destroy their own creations. This would limit the griefing.

I would prefer a carrot approach. Remove the kitten REPAIR BILL. It makes everybody happy and in the game. And it will ELIMINATE the alt-F4 problem once and for all.

A death penalty needs to stay in the game and having to repair amour stops people (eventually) from taking repeated suicidal stupid risks for what ever reason (eg: to destroy guarded siege or continuously attacking when out numbered).

Many games have implemented a log out timer which only needs to be 20 seconds to allow combat to be completed. If this turns players away then these players are not meant for a PvP game such as WvWvW.

There needs to be risk. People should be worried when they leave the safety of their keep. Not just run around solo picking berries with their fingers on Alt/F4. That is not the essence of the game. Sure, allow people to pick berries but they shouldn’t complain when you are killed in PVP. There are good components & good drops from the jumping puzzles but they are risky. Sometimes the risk will pay off but other times you will die trying but that is all part of the fun and experience of a PvP server.

Until someone figured out this Alt/F4 worked, and posted it for everyone to see, most people, even the berry picking PVE’ers would have blissfully died by the hands of the more skillful and thought nothing of it, but now it is is common knowledge and people think it is some how acceptable behaviour.

ANet should fix this and bring it in line with the many other PvP games (and even many PVE MMO’s have timeout function on death) and in the mean time laugh at those who feel the need to break the game mechanics by quitting and going through all the loading screens again (for what ever reason they do it).

Honestly, if you’re not killing more people in WvW than being killed, you’re doing something wrong. I’m pretty bad and die a lot and even I have a 5 to 1 kill to death ratio (which is really bad). Even with those deaths, I always come out with more coin in my pocket than I went in with after repairs.

If you’re getting a 5 to 1 kill death ratio, that means others must be doing worse. Everyone can’t have this ratio. It’s mathematically impossible. There are a number of reasons why someone has a worse ratio and I bet you are not being completely accurate unless you just roam around in a large group.

As far as not having repair on a PvP server. I don’t agree with that statement. There needs to be risks associated with engaging in PvP. It is what makes things interesting. If you are out numbered, organise to join a parting or find out where your zerg is.

Don’t travel alone!

This is not quite true, because in a group situation – everything who tags an enemy gets credit for a kill. For each death, you could have like 5-10 people getting credit for kills, so that means there will be 5-10 times more total kills than deaths on the battlefield. If every situation is 1v1, then you would be right.

The key to my statement is that you should not travel alone as I suspect the OP is and for the OP the maths would be true. The statement 5 kills v 1 death assumes Liquid is grouping up and again, stated “Don’t travel alone”.

I don’t really like the term ‘Only a game’ as it belittles the efforts people put in, and make it feel like we shouldn’t be trying at all. Many people play WvWvW for the competition and enjoy the tense battles, the winning and loosing of points. This all brings out emotion and passion.

Think about how you feel when your favourite sporting team is in a critical match like a grand final, and someone from your side does something stupid to cause a turn over or a goal/point against your team. Most people would feel emotion when that happens. It’s only a game but people will still curse the players involved. There is nothing to gain for the individual watching. There is no prize money. It is just the thrill of winning.

I’d expect many of you have played team sports and even casual social games are competitive. If you are playing a team sport and you do something wrong giving away points to the opposition, you’re likely to get an ear bashing from the rest of your team especially if the score is close. People have fun even though and sometimes because things get tense.

WvWvW is a week long match and although “only a game”, it is competitive and people invest their time attempting to prevent the other teams score increasing while trying to score points themselves. It’s natural that people who invest a lot of time into the match get upset when they loose, and cheer when they win.

Perma Stealth thieves are ruining WVW.

This isn’t a solution for culling in general but may help balance the thief issue and help a class which is currently in need of attention.

From other posts, most classes have something going for them but the Ranger class seems limited.

Why not give Rangers a tracking skill so they can see thieves and mesmers who are hiding. In other games I’ve played, thieves can’t just wander around hidden with out some chance of being seen.

This proposal helps the Rangers which need a lift, and stops thieves from having the free reign they’ve had up to now.

first of all rangers have some of the best utility and conditions in the game, they are hardly limited. I wish I could have access to poison, burning, bleeding and chill between two weapons.

Secondly, tracking in any form can be hacked once in the game. Every MMO out there that has tracking has a hack available on the internet that can grant tracking without using the profession. Age of Conan being the most popular that come to mind. Even if it were available and there was no hack it would just add to the culling issue because of extra processing required. Not only that but how are you going to see a red dot on your mini map and be able tell where the thief actually is?
Or would you prefer an ability that allows you to target through stealth? So you can happily pluck away at your bow from the safety of 1500 yards. Sorry bud but if a class gains the ability to see through stealth or break stealth, then there should be an ability to disarm your traps, banish your spirits and charm your pet in battle. Just saying.

Very good point about hacking. The idea really was not to see dots, but actually show thieves in the same way they are seen for friendlies as an outline. I used the term tracking as a possible name of the spell but really it would be ‘see invisible’ or ‘see hidden’. Perhaps it could be a thief ability? Just felt it suited a ranger class more than the others, if it was to ever eventuate.

One of my toons is a Ranger and I think they’re fine but they’re copping a flogging in the forums when compared to other classes, hence why I made the suggestion.

if traps and AOE or melee hits broke stealth than there wouldn’t be a need for a ‘see hidden’ spell but I’ve not seen that happen unless culling is preventing me from seeing it. Thieves are very squishy, once you can target them but the culling really makes the thieves OP.

I disagree with this. I like the risk factor with picking up drops. Sure I’ve found myself lying dead next to many bags before and sure it is painful to watch but that is part of the game. The WvWvW experience gives highs and lows and drama and if we make things automatic and nerf other aspects then the game will become simpler and boring imo.

I used to play a game where if you died, you dropped the contents of your backpack. Everything including gold for the victor to pick up. I love this idea and makes you want to stay alive. Be grateful this was not implemented and your only concern is that you miss a couple of bags when you were completely out matched and died on the battlefield.

I just see it as an area where all three districts touch and is a land grab. Defending our borders against hostiles while attempting to expand our territory. The Lore is made by the players through the forums and some districts (Servers) are perceived as good, bad and ugly. Most servers have been called all three at one time or another.

I’m not familiar with any actual Lore relating to the names of the servers.

It’s an awesome feeling when you raise your guild flag on a tower and upgrade it to the hilt, then successfully push back an invading zerg. Maybe you can only keep one person keeping look out, and call for re-enforcements at the first sign of trouble. Then it comes down to how quickly your zerg can react and how many other towers are being targeted. With the right siege equipment even one person can hold out generally for a few minutes until help arrives unless the invaders are going over the top. People should also donate to the cause too when commanders ask for donations to help with upgrades then people should donate. These things have been known to help.

The last 24 hours was a bit of a turning point for FA. At the time I logged on (and I play in the American off peak times) FA were initially leading in points, taken a lot of points in TCBL, owned all points in FABL and had a presence in YB as well as owning their third in EBL. TC started the push back against FA in TCBL which went on for a few hours. In the mean time, TC also sent a sizable group to FABL and started taking points. This usually forces the attacking side to pull their attacking forces back to help defend their home territory. Nobody wants to loose their home BL imo.

By the time the dust settled, FA had lost all their points in FABL, TC had retaken all their points in TCBL. Yaks retook YBL and sent teams to FABL which was split in half between Yaks and TC.

I saw this as a tactical error on behalf of FA and is in line with the above statement about FA being overly aggressive. Of course, I was one of the TCBL defenders and I just wanted FA out of TCBL. FA eventually retook FABL but there was much damage done on the score board by that time.

This weeks battles have only just begun and at this stage any server can win. Hats off to the Yaks as they have stepped things up after last week and have started causing more trouble to TC than FA have.

I like your ideas. I’m not sure about the commander part. For commanders, I’d be happy to see different color icons and chat so you know a commander is speaking. I feel a commander should get his/her status by the number of people following them. That way if they do a poor job then people leave their squad, their icon disappears.

I would like to see towers deteriorate over time and require manual repairs. It gives players something else to think about rather than just ignoring keeps which are away from the front line.

When you take a keep, it should not start repaired. It should start with the same damage that it had just prior to being taken. That way if the attackers destroy all the walls and gates to take a keep they will have a lot of work to do to secure the site. Zergs won’t be able to run around the map flipping keeps because if they move on without repairing the damage, the keeps can be immediately be taken back so to make it worth it, they will need to spend time and resources securing each point. It also gives the defenders anther chance to save the keep.

Something cosmetic but helps with the immersion. It would be good to know which guild actually owns a tower/supply point. At the moment unless you know the Guild emblem you have no idea who it belongs to. It would be good to show the guild name on the map when you moused over a point, and highlight the point differently (even show your guild emblem) if you are in the guild that owns the point when you show the map.

I could see this being useful in an SPVP match, but not WvWvW where you are allowed to participate when you want to.

I would like to see a Dishonorable hex spell given to those who quit the game during down state (or just during battle).

Consequently, I tend to WP if I am alone and see 3 or more people over the horizon. Chances are they’ve seen me, and I’m not about to charge them.

As for all the talk about emote spamming and what not – I don’t really like all the laugh spamz either. I usually just wave, and if it was a good and/or challenging fight, I’ll do a /bow.

All servers are doing the emote laughs. My current toon dies a lot as I’m levelling up (only lvl 30~) and pretty much every time a lvl 80 takes me down they do the laugh. Well done, you took out a toon more than half your level, pat yourself on the back.

Anyway, the easy solution is to turn off emotes if you can’t handle it. It’s a carebear solution but solves the issue. There are always going to be people who show bad sportsmanship. Every PvP game that I know of has some level of taunting.

Mesmer portal change, what was the point?

Limiting portal charges would completely destroy the viability of the skill in wvw unless it was 30+, which defeats the purpose of a cap. So no, unless ANet has lost all common sense they will never do this.

The added cooldown is fine, though.

How on earth would it destroy the viability when a team limit is 5, the AoE and heal are at 5 as well, the only benefit is for WvWvW rendering zerg exploit.
TBH I simply say be done with all the limits full stop this 5 limit business is for what nothing and does nothing to the game play other that make curtain classes useless against nearly all the other classes

Perhaps a more “realistic” (as far as fantasy games go at any rate) solution for AoE, rather than a hard limit of 5, would be to have a set amount of points of buff/damage and distribute the points evenly amongst all valid units within the radius. Therefore if you cast on a small group, they would get more benefit / damage and casting on a large group would still hit everyone but do less points. With this method you will know who is getting targeted and should have a clue as to how much damage it will do.

Many people continuously healing could then in theory still keep a zerg going, but a heavily defended AOE group would be a serious opposition.

Limiting the number of people who can use a portal on the other hand isn’t that big of a deal as groups will just use more mesmers. So limiting the number probably wouldn’t have the result we are hoping for.

Every major skill in the game should have a counter. There should be a class who can see stealthing players through a cast skill (eg: track, or see invisible). There should be a dispel for traps and portals.

I’m interested to see how affecting the AOEs to 5 affects game play and I’m sure the results will be discussed at length over the coming days.

Better solution is not the nerf portals. Instead- whenever a tower or keep is taken; highlight all enemies in the keep for 2-3 minutes so it is impossible to stealth or hide.

If you eliminate the possibility of folks hiding inside newly won points- then Mesmer portal wouldn’t be as devastating.

No, it takes skill to hide in a hostile keep. This is not a solution.

Something OP, is something u cannot counter, u can counter mesmer portals as far as i know…
Not talking about exploits here, talking about mesmer portals for tactics and to surprise enemy.

As far as I know, you can’t currently destroy portals or dispel them. Would be good to be able to target the portal and destroy it which might help stop full zergs coming through.

I was in for a couple of hours, the warning was <5 minutes.

I too have lost an Omega to this. It really sucks. Now I will only build Omegas in a keep.

Ok. That’s no good. I can understand that some times unscheduled outages may occur, but for controlled outages, prior warning needs to be given.

I was not online today so I don’t know about the circumstances but I’ve been online and seen alerts giving an hour notice for down time. The alerts are not that frequent though so could be easily missed.

How long were you online for?
Is it possible that you missed the message?

This information may help ANet improve their alerting. Maybe they need to send out an alert every 10 minutes (which I’m sure could be automated) for the hour leading up to down time so everyone knows it is coming.

When I see it happen I assume they’ve ripped the power from their computer, thrown a tantrum, swung their mouse against the wall before hurtling themself to the ground, curling up in the fetal position, rocking gently, sobbing and singing ‘Soft Kitty’ to themselves until the pain goes away.

Please, keep the mesmer porting ability in. It adds a dynamic to the game which is needed. There needs to be alternate ways to attack keeps and this keeps the game interesting. If a zerg is rolling through taking keeps, and a mesmer is lucky enough to hide then the defending server deserves to win it back.

If anything, ANet needs to loosen or remove the AOE spell restriction so when a zerg gets ported into a camp they can be hit hard by defence AOE.

There should be another defence against portals and other spells that I feel is missing. There should be a dispel spell which can destroy portals closing them down. Pretty sure there is no such spell although I may be mistaken. A dispel spell could also be of benefit against traps and prolonged AOE.

Maybe points should be awarded based on the number of online opposition players. If you have twice the numbers, of course it is easier to hold your towers so you should only get half the points. If there is no opposition then no points (or very little) for holding. This way you are not getting a score for doing nothing. It could go the other way too, if a team takes a keep when they have less than half the opposition then they get twice the points and if you ninja a point when you have only 90% less than the opposition then you could get 4x the points or something like that.

Sure this would make it better for the underdogs and the server with numbers would have their work cut out for them keeping everything owned. It might make things enjoyable for some. It might actually help with server transfers too because servers could no longer over power others with sheer numbers because they wouldn’t get the points. This does how ever mean that the score won’t truly reflect how powerful a server is and this is a war game after all. People have to get used to being dominated occasionally and if you’re lucky get your own turn to return the favour.

To me, the current system works. There are good battles going on in most of the Tiers and from what I’m reading, most are really enjoying the WvWvW experience and the scores are generally close.

First and foremost: Thank you for the positive feedback! We work hard to make WvW fun for you all and it’s very gratifying to hear that you’re enjoying it.

Now I need to make a bit of a clarification about culling being fixed. I think you’re referring to this post in the PvP forum: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Please-fix-this-sooner-rather-than-later-Vid-attached/first#post622762

We have a fix for culling in Structured PvP but that fix does not yet extend to WvW or PvE. The issue is that Structured PvP uses small maps with small player counts so we have fewer challenges to overcome with regards to resources like cpu and bandwidth. We are doing the work to extend the culling fix out to WvW but that change will not be in the next patch.

Thank you for responding and clarifying. I (and I’m sure I speak for many here) really appreciate getting feed back from Devs. You’ve acknowledged the issue and advised that you are looking into it. I would love to see a page showing what is being worked on but I’m guessing that could have some detrimental results in the community.

We have to be patient and give A-Net time to fully test solutions rather than rolling out hot fixes quickly which may break other functions.

1 Week Transfers are too long.

This is the first week I’ve not seen blowouts in scores (400k+ vs <50k). The only teams not making 100k this week are HD and ET which is a shame but forum discussion reported server transfers severely affecting those servers.

The ladder looks much more stable with only a little bit of movement in the middle. This gives a good indication that introducing 7 day transfers has made a positive improvement.

I’m still not completely convinced that 7 days is enough to stop major movements between servers. Fortnightly to monthly transfers would give even more stability to WvWvW. As stated above, a lock out period for WvW after transfers would be a good deterrent for avid WvW players and still allow PvE players to play on the same server.

I like the idea but I see a possible problem with it. Someone posted that they placed a large number of rams in an area. If people decided to do this with blockades and backing them onto each other it could take an extremely long time to break down and would look ridiculous.

Blooring the screen or zooming and limiting the player’s sight CANNOT be an option. You cannot limit my sight or limit my experience I take from game anyway.

Please explain why can’t this be an option?

Dead players are no longer part of the play. They’re dead therefore should not have any further involvement until they are rezzed or respawn. Lying dead on the ground is not a good experience IMO. Blanking the screen, forcing MAP view, making the enemy invisible all work as viable solutions for a game mechanic which is being exploited.
