A great fire burned at the center of Hoelbrak. It was as if the tall flames caught the gaze of the great Spirits, who looked upon the great gathering trough the eyes of their giant glacial statues. It was a norn gathering unlike any before. They all came to the fire to join the song.

- “Land of bear,” the shaman started. “land of eagle, land that gave us birth and blessing. Land that called us ever homeward – we will go home across the mountains!”

A boy pushed his way trough the crowd, all the way to the front. He had never heard this song before, nor had he seen a fire as big. The shaman continued and other voices followed.

- “We will go home,” they sang. “We will go home! We will go home across the mountains! Hear our singing! Hear our longing! We will go home across the mountains! … We will go home.”

A tall warrior stood next to the boy. He had the tattoos like all the great hunters, like his father did and all his fathers before him. The boy was afraid at first but gathered his courage and asked the warrior:

- “What are they singing about?”
- “What do you think?” the warrior replied.

The boy stepped back then, loosing his courage for a moment. The warrior pointed at the great glacial bear in the distance and the words started to make sense. The boy looked at the statues. Bear. Wolf. Snow Leopard. Raven. The others were singing to them.

-“We’re calling the Great Spirits.” The warrior nodded and explained:
-“The song is of our home that we left long ago. This is the greatest gathering the norn remember. This is the greatest fire the Shiverpeaks had ever seen! And this song is for the Spirits of the Wild … and more.”

-“More?” the boy asked.

The warrior lifted the boy up on his shoulder and said:

-“Look at the tooth of the dragon in the fire. Broken. Crushed. The time has come for us to take back our home! HEAR US JORMAG!!” And then he joined with the others, and the deep strong voices of the norn echoed trough the night.

Jormag is where the oldest Norn settlements used to be (though I don’t know if they ever had a city as important as Hoelbrak before), if his campaign through the mists continues, I guess we could explore the origin of the Spirits of the Wild. Charr would be the only one left I guess, unless another ED comes from the East or the unlikely scenario that Kralkatorrik flies back to his sleeping location. DSD could cover lore about Largos, Quaggan, Karka and Krait.

The norn had a few places you could call “cities” altough they were actually just a big lodge surrounded by shops/tents belonging to different vendors/smiths/traders etc. Gunnar’s Hold was the biggest but also worth mentioning were Sifhalla and Olafstead. Sifhalla was just north of the frozen lake where Jormag allegedly slept.

Also forget about additional elder dragons, there are 6.

We need 250 for the gift of mastery and then again however many tries it will take to get 77 clovers.

We can get the shards from the priest for 2100 karma and from the Lost Orrian Jewelry Boxes for kitten with a 3,3% drop rate (but the box also drops a lot of karma).

So I figured, since the boxes also drop lodestones I need as well as the shards, when is the best time to start getting these.

I figured I get like 300 shards from the priest and the rest from the boxes? 350 maybe? Guildies told me to get 500 from the priest and then start with the boxes but I don’t want to believe it’ll take me more than 250 tries for the 77 clovers.

What do you think?

Well as I don’t play WvW almost at all I went to the WvW laurel vendor because rings and amulets are 10 laurels cheaper.

So having saved up 79 laurels and 1036 BoH I compared the costs:

rings –
35 L or 25 L + 250 BoH

amulet -
30 L or 20 L +250 BoH

accessory –
40 L + 50 ecto

…
To me it was way cheaper to get them at the WvW vendor … and I got 1 amulet with gold infusion and one ring with an agony resistance infusion (75 fractal relics from the golem in Dessa’s lab) … so I’m at 2 ascended pieces, +20% gold gain and 5 AR … total cost 65 laurels, 500 badges, 75 fractal relics.

…should I go for the same stuff on the ranger too?

Or should I gear up and make a build more condition oriented or something?

For example some people have only a guardian and they like to try and give it as much damage output as possible. I have both guardian and warrior and so I don’t need my guardian to do my damage for me, if a dmg dealer is required I’ll hop on my warrior.

Now I have a ranger and I see a lot of great builds that are crit dmg focused, berserker gear builds and I already have a warrior for that.

Advice?

I figured we do a marathon …. players get dressed in pink, and run from Divinit’y Reach down to the gates of Arah … we could all equip Beacon of Kryta to make it a torch bearing thing

Ideally less than 2, but it can’t always work out that way.

I’m sorry … but I have yet to see an arah party that doesn’t kitten up and make each run take at least an hour.

Primordus and the asura … Jormag and the norn … Mordremoth and the sylvari.

Kralkatorrik might in that sense be a mutual enemy of the charr and the humans.

Zhaitan is most definitely a mutual enemy of all races.

And Bubbles … we don’t know much but I mean, the largos live in the Unending ocean so we’ll definitely see more of them once we get to fight Bubbles. Bubbles also is responsible for the krait pushing the quaggan out of the Unending ocean.

dude I’m on Underworld and have no problems. Try that website and get a more suiting guild.

If you’ve done world completion but still don’t have all areas unlocked then don’t worry about it. Do you have all jumping puzzles done? If not, you’ll probably want to sooner or later … and you’ll probably get all the missing areas along the way.

IF you just hit 80 then go get exotic armor and weapons. Get a good build going. And only then start thinking about earning gold.

Well, both can support trough curing conditions or giving boons, but the guardian being a heavy class is more appreciated in parties. The guardian is more oriented in protecting the party and the necro is a bit more of a dmg dealer. The necro has great AoE potential and its primary damage is trough conditions.

If you’re more into organized play like dungeons/fractals then better go with a guardian. If dungeons/fractals aren’t on your priority list than go necro, it’s way more fun.

Well I have neither a thief nor a mesmer … but if I were in your shoes I’d go with the mesmer. One day you’ll have an uber mesmer with Eternity.

And you’re right about the contributing to the group part.

Play the mesmer then … you’ll have a lot easier time in the high-end content. For example, the best speed runs are done with 4 warriors and a mesmer. You could also portal people up to jumping puzzle ends … all the necro has is cool effects.

P.S. the devs love a mesmer … the coolest weapons are purple/pink with a dark theme suited for a mesmer.

Well, do we even know that you get less Luck from lower level gear?

So, we’re supposed to salvage tons of blues/greens/ecto to get Luck up in order to get acc-wide MF.

If we would purchase blues only, for example, how much gold would it take to get a 100% MF, or 150? More?

What are your experiences?

How much MF do you have after investing 10 gold? 50 gold? 100?

Well seeing the Colossus, and knowing there is a whole season of the year, winter, called season of the Colossus … and then seeing all those huge (one might say colossal) stone heads scattered all around Tyria (there are several for example in Caledon at the location where the meta boss spawns, watching at the area from above) – I conclude the fate of the Colossi is drum roll set in stone?

If you’re talking about MF items being removed from the TP, then this hasn’t happened yet.

If you removed item orders yourself … I don’t think you’re supposed to get the 15% back, that was like a fee for placing the order.

Well, to be honest, when I went to look for the info I needed (after Solid Gold’s direction) it took some time to find this info, some careful reading and scrolling … there’s a lot of text. And even then I first found a link, easily missed if you’re not actually looking for it, that lead me to another thread where I again had to do some careful reading and scrolling before I finally found what I was looking for.

I just posted a bug ingame. But I figured it would be best to post here as well.

Two of my characters received 2 birthday gifts instead of just 1 … The first extra I got was on the 25th, but I wasn’t suspicious back then. I figured since I was switching between characters and didn’t claim the gift on one, it just somehow appeared on the other. I didn’t realize it was an extra until today when I went to collect and store in bank all of the gift’s contents.

So instead of 5 minis, boosts, scrolls I got 7 of each.

I don’t know if this can be repeated, is it an exploitable issue but I reported it as such anyway. Who knows. I just don’t want to be banned for the game’s hiccup.

I haven’t played SAB when it first was released but now I definitely intend to. But I want to use the opportunity to also level up some alts while having fun.

Previous releases I also wanted to play on my alts but I decided that time invested into leveling them up meant losing time that could be better spent on a geared up lv80. You might say – oh well what about the pavillion, you could level them there while farming – and well yeah, but the drops were just so much better on an 80 compared to a 40 or 60 that I just decided to use those precious events to farm while it lasts.

So this is my question:

Is SAB alt-friendly? Is the dmg dealt difference between an upscaled character and an actual lv80 very noticeable (as in an upscaled char would fight a common enemy as long as an exotic-gear 80 would fight a veteran and in return simply obliviate a common enemy)? Also is it a farming location for non-SAB specific items? Can an upscaled character just as efficiently farm" SAB-specific" drops as an 80 could?

How do we know the Order of Whispers isn’t aware of her background? All we know is they haven’t acted yet . . . which can be handled with two reasons (mutually exclusive):

- If the Living Story happens after the Personal Story, then the Order is probably working on establishing the next easy target among the dragons and expending effort in that direction. They probably were not watching someone who did not appear to be an immediate threat. Of course, by now there’s probably up to a dozen agents putting pieces together.

- If the Living Story happens concurrently with the Personal Story, the Order might be . . . slightly busy currently.

The Molten alliance gives strength to the Flame Legion which could threaten the charr-human peace treaty. The Aetherblades threaten Lion’s Arch, a place of unity among races in a Dragon infested Tyria and during a time where the Pact is about to form, is being formed or is newly formed.

And if that isn’t enough, the Queen of Kryta is in peril and so is the capital city of the human species on Tyria.

I think the Dragons are a less of an immediate threat and the Order’s resources would in reality be pointed elsewhere.

I just finished reading the new short story about Ceara/Scarlet and well, I just couldn’t help but wonder.

A sylvari sapling, mastered all the Grove had to offer …after that Hoelbrak and the the Black Citadel. And if this hadn’t drawn attention, an unprecedented event happened after that at Rata Sum – a sylvari had been accepted to a College. AND IF THIS hadn’t drawn attention, this sylvari finishing off all of the Colleges in record time would have kittening drawn attention of the Order of Whispers! .. ok it didn’t…

Then she joined the Inquest – OK NOW SHE DEFINITELY EARNED TO BE TAGGED … or … not?

Really? I refuse to believe that the Order of Whispers wouldn’t approach this brilliant individual (and if she was approached, why did she refuse to join them – they have so much knowledge at disposal. So I guess she wasn’t approached) OR at least I refuse to believe they didn’t have constant surveillance on her. Yet if they did, why wasn’t she recognized as a threat – how was she allowed to advance so much, how did any of her factions become such a threat?

No … it makes so little sense, that I just have to assume ArenaNet didn’t remember the Order of Whispers existed or they just chose to ignore them, thinking we players won’t notice or won’t care.

Yep … I was telling my friends how awesome GW2 is because it keeps the game fresh all the time, no other game developers put this much effort and so on and so on …

I stopped thinking it’s a good idea.

This last release (QJ) I thought was great because I had my eyes on the Radiant Mantle that comes with 6000 AP, and living story offered the best AP … But looking back at this month, it looks I’ve felt more obligated to play the kitten out of the game than played because I had fun. I actually came to the conclusion I spent too much time like this without feeling satisfaction, so I won’t be doing the next living story.

And then the Clockwork Chaos turns out to be a farm festival. And my brain doesn’t know what to decide. The player in me sees this is an opportunity that MUST NOT be missed, but the human being says NOOO – you won’t be happy after.

And I generally dislike the whole situation.

I have just spent A LOT of Karma consumables (about 3 millions worth) as soon as I realized and accepted that my karma items were nerfed. Now I read this and it makes me even more sorrowful for that.

I can understand if not, but can we expect something, ANYTHING to help mitigate this feeling? Or it’s just a “we screwed up and we’re making sure it won’t happen again”?

Exactly my thoughts.

I’m a casual player but I’ve also been saving all sips, vials, juggs, drips drops of karma, all of it … I even saved the child’s drawing and all those yellow items we got for doing the living story that give karma.

Today I saw no reason why I shouldn’t consume them all, after all there was no point in hoarding them anymore. So I did. I got about 500,000 from it … for a casual player that’s a lot.

If there will be some sort of reimbursement, will I be affected too?

I think he’s already escaped the Underworld to a certain extend. He now has his own realm, the mad realm. He is a very powerful spirit, that’s for sure.

I think that Humans are humans and they should not be separated by nationality. I do support the addition of Cantha however. I just hope not to see a new “race” added that is just humans with different customization options. It would be interesting to be able to select different types of humans and Charr – maybe a type that still stands straight and proud – and the other playable races in character creation if this was to be included in an expansion at some point.

Well the way they did it in GW1, depending on where you would start as a lv1 character (Tyria, Cantha or Elona) you would get slightly different character creation options … such as different facial presets and hairstyles. They will probably do the same in GW2 if the two continents took place on standalone campaigns/games OR if Cantha required the original GW2 to be purchased they would probably just expand the current character creation options.

Oh and they must add the Tengu as a playable race if they give us Cantha … this goes without saying.

Impossible, Silvari have only been awake for 2 generations; the First Borns, and us. Somewhere on the wikia it probably states how many years ago that the Silvari emerged, but its relatively recent, as within the last ten years or so recent, which is long after the Mad King was alive.

The sylvari are present for 25 years, but that’s not what I meant. Of course there couldn’t have been sylvari in the Lunatic Court back in the days the Mad King was alive. I’m talking about the modern day Lunatic Court which, as someone else mentioned, did hold members of other species .. which slipped my mind originally.

I’m sure the fanatics out there are already aware but to the rest, NCSOFT has announced that a GW 2 expansion is underway, source is in the top of my post.
Launch date and details are still unknown but this is good news none-the less. My best guess is 2014 at the earliest.

Well they did say Queen’s Speech holds a big surprise for us! Maybe an expansion? Queen Jennah might announce contact with Cantha was established? That would be so awesome. NO. That would be the MOST AWESOME thing arenanet could do right now

Let’s hope the one you get from the birthday gift (Scroll of Experience) actually gives experience and doesn’t just jump you to a fixed level.

Well I sure hope we’ll be able to use the Mystic Toilet to forge a new mini out of 4 mini Queens, though it is doubtful.

And there’ll be no point in selling the excess minis, if they don’t end up being account bound … everyone will have one!

I agree with you Xenon about the surprise part. In GW1 I looked forward to each birthday to see what mini I’ll get, because there was a chance I’d get a super rare one I could sell for a lot of platinum … or at least I’ll get one I didn’t have before to put in my HoM.

If this “Scroll of Experience” turns out to be like that Experience Scroll that simply elevates a character to lv20 I really won’t have anything to look forward to … and I have a ton of boosters stockpiled in my bank and I just don’t use them. I always tell myself I’m keeping those for when I’ll need to farm something … but never do. The Birthday Boost I’ll get will share the same fate … unless it won’t be a consumable, then it’ll just be wasted.
