If youd been playing WvW consistently for the past 2 years (games only been out 1 1/2 years) just solo roaming, with some dungeons and other stuff mixed in, playing 3 hours a day youd at least have one of the guard bonuses. Youd also know the coyote/wolf locations where you can get 10/15 sigil stacks in under a minute
I have a bad sense of time. Game came out in 2012 right? I count from then till now as 2 years for some odd reason. I know about the wolves and coyotes who summon other wolves and coyotes, but my point still stands.

In WvW at the moment. Alot of Thieves are running with full BL stacks, and guard leech, applied fortitude. They steal in, 2k mug, 3.4k CnD (why a stealth skill does so much damage idk), and can backstab for 7k-9k damage depending on Armor. For heavy armor classes, that’s oh idk, for the average guard who has about 15k hp that’s instant panic mode. Warriors may panic as well, but it’s not guaranteed unless the HS crits for 4-5k on top of that (endure pain will probably save them or they’ll run away with great sword) all medium armor classes are in deep trouble, depending on armor and hp (my engie has 2700 Armor and 18k HP). My engie has been hit for 2k mugs, 3k CnD and a whopping 9k backstab, all within the 2s that the thief was invis to visible. Luckily most thieves will apply basilisk’s Venom before engaging, so I can usually stop the chain of burst if I time my shield stun properly. however I also have within that one second to apply conditions to make him back off or he will restealth and try again.
Of course, not every thief runs with such a high power creep. but even with just guard leech their instant pressure is really high. This is just from the match up from the week that just ended too.
I also realizes classes cannot be balanced around having either/or one of these buffs applied to them. Doesn’t make it less sucky.

I didn’t use to see so much power creeping in wvw 6 months ago. but now all I mostly see are classes using corruption/Bloodlust with the top tier guard oriented wvw masteries. I honestly didn’t see as many people using these back in the day Guard leech and applied were rarely seen because you needed alot of points obviously). Is it the new meta, whether roaming alone/ with a group or with a zerg to be as bursty as possible? honestly most of the thieves I’ve seen are one-shot mug thieves who can crit 8-9k on heavy classes. They drop like stones of course, but that’s only if you can keep them out of stealth long enough and that’s near impossible.
Most fights I’ve had were ones I’ve lost because the opposing pressure was near instant whether it was condition or power. When I fought an enemy with little to no stacks, fights were longer than could go either way based on sheer luck. I just feel like if I don’t hop on this train I’ll be left behind but on the other hand I don’t feel it’s needed because I’ve been able to kill people just fine without the sigils. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
fyi not just thieves, but Elementalist, Warriors, Necros, Engineers, and even guardians using all these together.
PvE gear =/= WvW gear
While you’re technically correct, alot of people manage a one size fits all for both PvE and WvW, unless they’re a roamer. And even then it’s no big deal.
The point of Zerker is to bring things down faster before their damage starts to get lethal, which means dodging what needs to be dodged, and mostly ignoring everything else. If you are having trouble with survivability, I would suggest you keep using knights. extra vitality is ok but it doesn’t mean jack if you’re still taking enough damage that you’re still dropping as fast as you did before. It’s just my opinion though. You could also go Valkyrie(this a purely PvE opinion). For WvW Idk, everyone and their mother is using Guard Leech + 25 bloodlust stacks so you’ll still take quite alot of damage, whether you go it alone or are in a zerg, though you’ll probbably live longer being in a zerg.

My engineer. I think I’m happy with this look. It has a Desert ops feel.
I use Duelist hands, Legs, Shoulders, and Helm, with the WvW Exotic Rabid Jacket, And the Rabid Exotic WvW boots. I use the Shield of the Wing skin that I transmuted onto another shield and and the Pistol I’m using is called Brandt my Dyes used are Sand, and White-Gold. I feel like Engineers could be a good Soldier profession (Which if I remember correctly they were intended to be before Anet changed it).
Anyway I like the look, and I probably won’t change unless something better comes along.
Funny how it’s easier to cry hacks than it is to admit that you weren’t able to do proper mesmer sweeps or keep up with having multiple groups ravaging your keeps on a constant basis. smh
While you have a point, we have to look at all options. We can’t just say “Well mesmer this, mesmer that…”
Learn to Mesmer sweep
DH took the keep and swords were only on it after about 15-20 minutes had passed. If there was a mesmer, he/she could have said so while they were taking the keep and could have ported a group of us in there.
I’m on GoM and I have to agree. I checked out our keep and no walls were down, nor were there any gates open. If you can play without hacking don’t play at all. The guild I’m talking about knows who they are.

Hello, I am running a conditioneer, and I can’t seem to kill anyone 1v1. If I start dropping bombs they just start ranging me. IF I throw grenades all they have to do is move slightly to the left and they miss completely. Luring them into tight spaces doesn’t work, especially against melee classes like Warrior and guards who shrug off conditions and thieves hit me so hard their direct damage outpaces my conditions by miles. I don’t what I’m doing wrong, and I’ve tried everything. At this point I feel like the engineer isn’t the class for me.
I’m running 30/10/0/20/10 build with pistol/Sh. with Rabid gear and undead runes with Sigil of earth and agony (I’m broke)

Hello, I wanted to go for a Power Engineer in WvW. without going into specifics, what lines would be best for going into if I wanted to be balanced between Offense and Defense, and what toolkits and weapon would I use. I would primarily roaming of course. If anyone can help me (or) deter me from this would be great. I honestly don’t like condition builds for any class and I wanted to play a class I rarely see these days.
I too would really like to see a return to the original running animation. It perfectly suited my young, feminine, slim and beautiful character.
Now I realize that a few prefer tattooed fatties with man-jaws; just don’t force your choices on me.
So at the very least they should give us the option to go back to the original running animation.

You cannot run Sigils that stack a certain type of stat together. You can only run one or the other.

So you can’t out DPS 400hp per sec? That says it all.
If the ranger longbow doesn’t crit it hits about 600 dps, so yeah that’s a significant amount of damage reduced and because you have alot of CC you usually wont be taking damage every second.
So dont use longbow
GS auto attack does like 800 damage if it doesn’t crit that’s still a large amount of damage reduced.

Besides the Bow, we are pretty much built for Melee physical damage while being the toughest one out in the front line (besides Guardians anyway). Warrior’s don’t have any funky gimmicks like pet’s clones, stealth or boons. We are bar none the most down to earth class. We can take a beating, and return the beating as well. Where the devs messed up is that it is not a “Easy to learn, difficult to master class”, like in most other games. The Skillfloor and skill ceiling are to close to eachother which means almost every person but those most newbie to the game can pick up one and use it quite effectively. This seems to be a problem for Warrior’s in a lot of games, and I wish future games will learn from these mistakes. That’s my take on this whole thing with warriors anyway.

The main difference between GW2 PvP and most other MMO’s PvP is that in GW2, everyone has top-tier stats.
It sounds like you might be used to winning 1v2’s in WvW or in other MMOs…that’s still possible in GW2 PvP but it’s extremely difficult.
I always try to pick out those with similar gear, and I can tell dungeon/Ascended gear from regular gear you can get at the WvW Karma vendor. Even if I don’t recognize when they hit me, it pretty much tells me the scope of their gear. Hear In SPvP it’s a bit harder because gear is equalized in all but runes/necklaces.

Been seeing a lot more bunker condition warriors the few times I Choose to SPvP, where they would sit on a node with regen banner up and we would pelt them for like 1m before we started to see hp drop unless we had someone with poison with us at the time… /shrug
Far longer than I would, because I hate the enclosed spaces. Played a P/P thief with ricochet trait, pretty decent. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Feels way too hectic. I mean, even when I WvW there doesn’t seem to be too much going on. I guess it’s because it’s not over 40 people, but a group of 12(?) in one enclosed space, feels like you’re more right in the thick of it. I don’t know where I’m going with this, I guess I just wanted somewhere to put my thoughts.
Umm… I think the game mode is neat, but after playing it for 12 hours, I can see both the appeals and the turn offs, and I hope Anet can work to make it more appealing to veterans and people relatively new to it like myself in the future. Thanks for reading.
Warrior’s Hammer build was nerfed, and for good reason. It can still be played, but sacrifices or trait work around are a must to play it. Most people hate GS, and Killshot rifle is being whined about now even though the only reason you should ever die from it is in a group fight, and that’s just a given. In a 1v1 it’s NBD. How many nerfs is it gonna take to satisfy people?

Hard to catch is usually only bad for Melee thieves. As for P/P thieves, if they’re really good (I.e like Taquito), they can be pretty hard to pin down and Pistol 3 can hurt a lot. As far as I know, thieves didn’t get any damage buffs this patch. nor did any weapons get buffed.
Still planning to run hammer, but Im also using Greatsword instead of of Axe/Shield. It’s not a sure thing yet, so we’ll see…
Leveling does get a bit boring after the first few times. I mean the first time, yeah, all the cool zones and what not, but after that… bleh… which is why zones are mostly empty these days except for Queensdale and other races starting zones. WvW isn’t a good source of Exp unless you wanna run with a train, but if your server is getting beat pretty bad, well there goes that. even if you don’t get the promised 10 levels per crafting, 8 per is still a lot, which is why people still do it to level alts. Seriously, after the starting area, you will rarely see another soul while leveling, it’s quite sad really… Even though WoW was still the generic questing type, leveling there is still way more fun for me than it is here. Granted, I use heirlooms, but I guarantee(sp?) I can hit 80 faster than I can here. I don’t want it to be super streamline pick up and hit 80, but I wanna feel like I’m getting somewhere after 8 hours. /shrug
I wouldn’t think it too much of a change if to get the exotic gear from dungeon vendors you were made to run Story mode and all 3 paths of explorable mode. This still gates the “Free” gear but you would still have to put in a bit of work for it. Of course this is only unlocked on one character, so you would have to do it with a new one over again. I understand some paths are less liked than others for various reasons, but this is what I could come up with without having gear being practically given away. As for the Free exotic vendor, It would be a decent idea. because let’s face it. The exotic gear you get off the TP looks horrible. So while it would be free to purchase, you’d look like a complete clown. And that’s where my previous idea comes from.

Most weapons are good. usually only in Personal story do some weapons outshine others. I personally would do any 2H with a secondary set of 1H+Shield. But that’s just me.
This has been coming since Warriors jumped on the Hammer Wagon way back when. Our natural tankiness plus our heavy regen made us hard to deal with in a normal setting. Seriously, I found it amazing most classes could kill warriors as we CC’ed them into the dirt. Hammer itself is weak compared to most weapons, but in combination with unsuspecting Foe, we could hit anything in medium to low armor for 3k auto attacks, every 7 seconds. Plus Sigil of Para was bugged so that made things much worse. Honestly the change sucks, but all it means is I have to play a little smarter, and not harder.
Did I mention our near perma-stability and condition cleanse/immunity? I realize changes were needed because we couldn’t keep up with the condition meta, but this, with the above stated… it honestly was too much.
Asks for a better heal, get’s beat down by a bunch of people bitter about Warriors. Also tell me what Warrior has 34k HP and 3.5k Toughness who ISN’T wearing Sentinels? Exactly. Jesus christ…
Lol ES is a 2 SECOND STUN! You will get maybe two attacks in within that time frame. and Whirling attack and Back breaker are 20s and 30s respectively untraited. You whine that hammer takes no skill, but actually landing a CC on some person who knows how to dodge rather than some kitten who doesn’t even know there is an endurance bar takes more skill than Mace/GS by a long shot buddy. Nerfing burst skills, a class mechanic mind you to 30s or 15s respectively is not gonna do anything but give a nerf to something that wasn’t the source of the problem. Sigil of Para was the source, it is no longer an issue. Jesus Christ, people come in here all day long with their crazy ideas and their reasoning isn’t sound at all they just want to find something to nerf and at this point they barely care how heavy-handed it is.
Guardians are just Paladins by a different name and slightly different play style…. If Gw2G got offended, I think they need to pull their heads from the netherworld…

Whats imaginative about wearing zerker, stacking ontop of a boss and DPSing him down with a guardian pretty much spam cleansing everyone and booning everyone, ignoring most mechanics and generally just rushing dungeons because all people care about are rewards. The most interesting and frustrating dungeon path made this year was the Twilight Assault dungeon with a boss that can and will kill you if you did not do mechanics. Skipping tons of mobs in dungeons because trying to beat them all down is generally suicidal and a waste of time… sigh. Honestly, I think OP’s point was spot on. Sure if you do dungeons the “Right” way, it can take a while, but it should have to be done the right way from the start. It’s partly the way Anet designed mobs and bosses, and the overpowering need to find the most braindead and mindless route possible from the players.
Give Warrior a decent heal not on a stupidly long cooldown. The only reason we rely on Healing sig is because we are constantly being hit with no access to regen or protection, or abundant dodges. Which is why warriors still use GS to run away and wait for Healing surge to come back up.
Not sure what you’re talking about warriors have plenty of access to regen…. As for heals on a long cooldown healing signet has a 16 second cooldown and roughly 400hp/sec regen… Combine that with Adrenal Health/ any other form of regen we have access too (runes/banners/Dogged March/Inspiring Battle Standard/etc..) or just run Shouts Heal and you have plenty of healing / regen.
So we have to run a niche shout heal build.
Mesmers get a heal that reflects projectiles
Guardians get a heal that is a two-second block, so it cannot be interrupted no matter what
Elementalist ether renewal, I think it’s called, is a pretty decent heal on a 15s CD.
Thieves withdrawl is a heal that removes movement impairing effects, with a built in evade, on a 15s Cool down. I think base 4k it heals for build with stealth, blinds and dodges, that’s a fair drawback.
Necromancers heal that eats conditions for an even stronger heal. Death shroud makes up for the CD though.
I just want a heal that’s not against the way warrior plays and heals for a decent amount of our total hp. Namely the way Healing surge works. what is the point of granting us adrenaline after the heal, which needs max 3 bars to heal for 50% of our hp, and then what? Adrenal surge by itself is nothing. I hope they change the way this skill works in the future. If they do that, I don’t care about anything else.
