This is the main reason I’m not spending any money on these.
If I have to remove them and put them in the shared slots every time I change character,it’s not worth the gems.
These are already account bound items,so the argument that if they provided that added feature they’d lose money is false.
They are losing money as it is now though.

I don’t know exactly how you’re using these tools with your account-bound slots, but it sounds like you’re doing it wrong.

I keep a full set of orichalcum tools in my account-bound slots and have three slots leftover. Whenever I want to switch to a different character, I just equip the orichalcum tools to the character I’m leaving et voila, the infinite tools are in the account-bound slots. I never have to open the equipment pane. The only time it is frustrating is when you switch characters before swapping the tools out.

It gets better if all you’re doing is flax farming or what have you, since you only need to swap the sickle in this manner.

When a chopper crashes, you need to grab a bomb and very quickly get to wherever the Mouth is. Also, from the wiki:

To get the Dragon Bombardier you must be one of the first people to hit Mordremoth with a bomb from the downed Pact Chopper.

Idea to reduce HoT grind

Personally. If I’d complain about the difficulty in any way, it would be in regards to getting Mastery points. I do not find it fun to repeat story quests for all those achievements. I don’t even want to read a kitten Dulfy guide on full achievements for LS2, I would quite frankly rather not play.

It seems a bit of a joke that all the legendaries are being made with a requirement of max masteries.

But…they are legendary quality items. Being expected to go above-and-beyond the norm is the norm for legendary.

Never mind the fact that you would likely get the masteries for Legendary Crafting long before you managed to get all the resources needed to make them. When I logged on after HoT launched, I already had enough MPs to get both the Legendary Crafting and another line filled just by having played a bunch. Unless you run fractals a lot, that line doesn’t need to be filled.

Celestial is actually really good for fluffing up all or your stats. If I recall correctly, each stat on Celestial armor is ~57% (maybe it got nerfed a bit, I don’t recall) of a primary stat on a 3-stat piece of equipment. This includes healing power, which doesn’t directly help damage, but Celestial was in the meta in PvP for a long time for a good reason.

It’t not about being able to participate. I could use no gear and participate, lmao.
It’s about fairness in aquiring things, why should only those who raid have access?

What does that have to do with fairness? It’s an incentive to raid.

People who do fractals will only have access to fractal back pieces. People who run Silverwastes will only have access to Luminescent armor. People who run Drytop will only have access to Ambrite weapons. There are places where you can only get certain things from them. Should all items and achievements be made available to all game modes? That doesn’t seem remotely reasonable.

Difference being stats give unfair advantage in pvp modes like wvw tell me how fractal backpiece helps u win at a certain game mode?

It doesn’t, and, in 1v1 WvW neither does a specific stat set necessarily. There are ways to get what you need stat-wise without sacrificing much at all, leaving you at most with a very slight disadvantage. That’s assuming nobody comes to your aid or they don’t trip up and miss a heal. At best, there are maybe 3 accessories with these rare stats you can’t get unless you raid.

If it makes you feel better, I’ve been an advocate of standardized armor in WvW like they have in PvP; everyone picks an amulet, runes, and sigils and that’s it.

am i the only person that like vertical maps…. i mean for years and years in MMOrpgs we had plain flat maps there boring after you play them 100times, i think the main problem is that allot of people are bad at exploring and remember locations, i have seen allot of player video of people exploring guild hall and new maps and get all turned around but some how they end up at the same place but act like its a brand new place……

Love the vertical maps as does my wife. Not really sure what the big deal is.

This is my wife and I as well. There’s just so much freedom to being able to jump off a cliff and fly at top speed to the top or bottom of the maps. Ground travel gets boring after a while.

An option wouldn’t hurt, but there would be a lot of people who forget to turn it back on as they plummet to their death elsewhere. For me, I find JPs easier when it’s enabled, but as it’s been stated here, there doesn’t seem to be any consistency as to which JPs have it enabled and which do not.

I would like to add, it would be nice to have a much bigger alert when entering an area with gliding disabled. Right now it’s just a little icon on the buff bar, next to the 3-10 other buffs. I have yet to die from this, but it is odd going from being able to glide to nothing at all unexpectedly…

So in order to get all the mastery points for central tyria you have to grind out the living story for them. This is ridiculous. It was anet’s own (Colin) statement that grinding would not be needed for gw2 and yet here we are grinding out everything. There needs to be more options for mastery points for central tyria instead of having to grind out the living story achievements. And most of them undoable solo and having to redo and redo them until they are perfect.
So many things like this making people leave the game. From the grinding to the state of wvw, the condi meta and unbalance. I’m surprised there are even players left in the game.

I just thought I would add, since I am literally one mastery point away from completing ALL; central Tyria masteries (I just need to kill the Crimson Wurm), I have not fully completed any of the Living World Season 2 mastery points except maybe the first one. There are quite a lot of mastery points elsewhere, especially some easy ones in fractals. If you don’t run fractals, then you don’t need to get those masteries.

There is too much healing in this game

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: MiniEquine.6014

MiniEquine.6014

Should the healing scale differently in WvW/PvP vs in PvE? There are some things in PvE that will practically one-shot you if you aren’t decked out in toughness and those rapid heals are necessary.

Video game HP is generally considered the remaining endurance the character has before fainting/dying. It’s not unheard of getting a second wind and continuing on with the battle, but there are possible solutions to just constant HP refills.

Suppose everyone in PvP or WvW would get a stacking debuff after a certain amount of time that reduced healing you received, so long as you stayed in combat. Sustainability would be dictated by your ability to heal up initially but primarily by your toughness/vitality/dodging. If you kept fighting for long enough, healing would barely affect you and you would eventually die unless you ducked out of the fight.

Why are people so afraid of raiding?

Anet fudged big time with raids. Living Story and the raid content should have been basically the same, with some story culminating with a 5-man easy version of a raid wing so casual players could familiarize themselves with the mechanics. After getting their feet wet players could then ease into the 10-man harder version.

please, dont
this is how DCUO does it, and it feels very cheap

That’s funny i played two days in DCUO then left, it was horrible.

I don’t know of this DCUO game, but perhaps they just implemented this idea poorly. When I raided in WoW 5 years ago while I was in college and I wasn’t able to make all the raid times or see all of the raid bosses because either the content was outdated and nobody ran it or it got too difficult to PUG up when the guild couldn’t clear it. Not for the lack of skill, but I haven’t the time to commit to being part of a raid in GW2, especially being employed full-time. I would thoroughly enjoy the ability to personally go through the raids for the story but without the rewards, which would be reserved for the raid proper. I guess I could always watch videos of people clearing it instead, but that’s just not as fun.

As a secondary question, is the main difference between the function of these forums and reddit that the forums are chronological and that reddit is hierarchical by reply?

Reddit comments are ranked by popularity, which makes it effectively useless for a real conversation. Usually off topic jokes are at the top of the page, and dissenting opinions backed by facts are made invisible.

They are ranked by popularity by default, but you can change the order to chronological ascending/descending, rising popularity, and most controversial. In fact, it makes it far better than a forum like this for a conversation specifically because comment replies are nested in the parent comment instead of further down the page.

Also, anything a developer replies to will basically get thrown to the top. Normal reddit threads tend to have the issues you describe but AMA and Q&A formats do not have this issue.

I mentioned this in my first post. Bi is not without fault, but it wouldn’t hurt to have these safeties in place. “Salvage this weapon to receive its spirit, needed to craft the next tier of this legendary precursor.” It has nice blue writing on it. ( learn to read problem)?

So do you read the description of every item you get? I know I dont anymore, i remember previewing it, but didnt see the description on the bottom.

Regardless, the crafting quest should not be able to screw up just because of some text on the bottom of an items description.

If people don’t bother to read the description, what makes you think they will read any warnings?

Descriptions are passive, warnings are active and can’t be ignored without player input. The goal should be an amount of warning that properly informs players without being a nuisance.

Please…..

  • People complaining that they bought 4-5 salvage kit and such things in the past. Why would you get a refund or something? You chosed to do so. The game is evolving, live with it. It is your own mistake, if you didn’t want to move those items from character to character.

Respect yourself please, complaining is good, but being immature is an other thing

It is a “mistake” for people to buy multiple gem store item.

Ok I get it now. Thanks for telling people they are stupid to have bought it in the first place.

They aren’t saying you made a mistake or you are stupid. At the time, the only option was to buy multiple copies or transfer to your bank between uses or not buy it at all. Either the tech or the resources or the idea weren’t there for shared slots so, despite that, you and others made the decision to buy multiples.

That’s not a bad thing. Hopefully you got plenty of use out of them and the convenience/time saved by not having to constantly deposit them to your bank to withdraw them on other characters. Some math people have done show that you could save multiple hours of playtime by having multiple copies.

Now it’s different though, but now is not then. Neither you nor Anet knew about these shared slots until recently. If you had bought multiple copies after Anet planned/announced the introduction of these slots then I am 100% with you for refunds (like what they did for HoT). If you bought them prior to this though, you accepted the deal they had at the time. Coupons, deals, offers, rebates; none of these are required to be retroactive. To expect them to be retroactive is unreasonable and sometimes impossible.

I don’t think you can talk on other people’s behalf.

But I think you must be a happy person, because you think everyone is so nice and no one is evil.

I’m not talking on their behalf. You put words in their mouth and I corrected you. You are once again building a Strawman, except now it’s against me.

Would you kindly not distort my views? Thanks.

Actually Engineer not bad if one considers all of the passives that can kick in if you make a mistake or are slow to respond. The more passives there are the less onus there is on instant reactions. (regens or invulns/blocks that kick in at certain thresholds)

The problem with Engineer is the F1-F5 skills. The only engineer spec that might be okay would be a Rifle Turreteer for the same reason a Minion Master might be; less-active utility skill management and reduced need to use toolbelt skills since half the time they only blow your turrets up (which you don’t want to do).

If you run an Alchemy/Inventions build with none of the active Alchemy traits you would be a beast of a tank, and since turrets don’t scale with your stats they work quite nicely for this. Otherwise, Teslas, Grenadiers, and HGH builds are too much clicking.

I kind of hate to say it, but Bearbows became known for a reason…

Rangers with bows and tanky pets allow for “careless” play. Or, in this case, play with less dexterity. Bear pets are easy to get, too. If you don’t need quite that much tanking, then use a different pet for less tank/more damage, and change to bow/Greatsword.

Pretty much this.

All the rest of you are terrible for giving such terrible advice.

Minionmancers are not a bad idea. Those are my recommendation too. Bearbow Rangers are also a good choice, but building a Knights, Cleric, or Rabid Minionmancer will allow facerolling of all but the most difficult challenges.

Let’s say you’ve had three copper-o-matics for two years. That means you got two years of convenience out of those items. So it wasn’t a waste at all; it just wasn’t as useful to you for as long as you hoped it would be. But you still got use and value out of it.

I don’t know bro. If Anet would told people in the beginning, most of people probably won’t bought it.

So I’m not sure if people get their “worth”.

I bought 9 permanent bank license, and multiple vendor/tp too. If Anet told me in the beginning I wouldn’t.

So can I use your time machine? B/c it would really help me if I could jump ahead and see what business and product decisions my bosses are making two years from now.

Really, you expected them to say “Here’s this new copper-fed-salvage-tool! Btw account slots coming in 2+ years maybe.” How would they even have known? Maybe the big bosses said NO to account slots back then. Maybe (pretty likely) the tech didn’t exist in the game to implement them properly.

Anyone might have predicted that account slots were coming eventually. But expecting a statement like that years before actual implementation is just bonkers. In what fluid, non-linear time do you live?

This is a weird rehash of the veteran player anger over HoT being released. I could understand being angry if you just bought multiple copper-feds or gathering tools, but if players have had these for a year or more and are complaining now it just seems so out of touch.

Also, their 9 bank tabs do not go to waste. Being able to store as many items as they can has definitive value. Pretending to undervalue what they have does not make their argument stronger.

How do they have value now. I can just use 1 and the other 8 have no use.

1 of it have value, the other 8 is totally useless

And I can know how poster are totally hyperbole when he keep mentioning 2 years. Anet could have some kind of refund policy, but no, they just don’t give a *.

And someone already mentioned how Anet should have resolved the issue. Check Vayne’s post on page 14.

If Anet is so unhappy about refund gem. Give people something else instead.

Sorry, are you asking how BANK TABS have value? I personally have 6 and they are FILLED. I could very easily do with more but I was saving for the gathering tools with a gold > gem conversion (which I just did yesterday). Unless you are referring to copper-feds? My suggestion for those back on page 9 (maybe even this page) or so was to not use account-bound slots for those if you already have them for each character. Right now all 5 of my slots are filled with gathering tools and salvage kits, so I can’t put food or anything else in them. People with multiple copies of gem store items can put things like food and maintenance oils in the slots instead.

Edit: I see you said Bank Licenses, not tabs. my apologies. My point just above still stands; don’t use the account-bound slots for the bank licenses. You have the capability now to access your bank from any character AND have 5 account-bound slots. They don’t even sell the bank access stuff anymore and I’d like to have even one.

Actually it’s 560 gems if you buy 5 for 2-64 characters depending on how many alts you have. I have 10 alts which means I got 50 slots.

The math technically works a little bit differently than than. The slots themselves are worth more than a normal slot in a bag by a lot, but the direct value is less than [# of characters] * [# of slots], especially depending on what you put in them. They would only be close to worth that maximum amount if you put stacks of necessary consumables in them like food or oils, but having infinite tools, while useful, reduces the “total” number of slots. I’ll see if I can work something out to make it easier to show but the math gets very fuzzy.

People must have money to throw away if they are spending 700 gems for a 1 item slot. Even in a virtual world that can not be considered value for money.

For months I had been saving gold and resources (to sell) to exchange gold > gems so that I could eventually get a set of harvesting tools for my main. There was no sale for these over the Wintersday period so I went ahead and did this today. I exchanged gold > gems and got a Watchwork Mining Pickaxe, a Molten Harvesting Tool, a Mad Scientist Logging Tool, and the 5 account-bound slots all without spending any money. I’m down to 70G now (nearly enough to finally get a copper-fed salvage tool), but look at it as a long-term investment or goal. Real money doesn’t have to be spent, but it will take a long time otherwise.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere (it may have because this thread is massive), but, despite the price of these things, the people that have multiple copies of certain items like salvage-o-matics (for example) can put other things in the slots instead of the salvage tool. These slots are great for items you only own one of, but if you already have 10 then don’t use the slots for them and instead put food or something in there (if you bought them).

WoodenPotatoes mentioned something interesting in his video; wouldn’t it have been cool if these slots were not gemstore-based but crafting-based? Like, you could only craft one per master crafting skill per account (so a “cooking” slot, a “jewelcrafting” slot). The slots wouldn’t be any different from each other but would incentivize maxing crafting professions. They could also cost a lot of resources that could influence people to convert $$ to gems to gold if they desired, so making money indirectly, but people wouldn’t have to. This is very similar to how the new legendary weapon system is.

They also can’t get any of the new legendary weapons, yet those also require things in Core Tyria. Consider the new Shatterer achievements to be HoT content while the Shatterer is Core Tyria content. To get the achievements you need HoT and you need only the game to fight the Shatterer.

I would like some clarification if it is indeed 1 single slot in a bag, or 1 single bag slot (up to 20 slots). Because 700 gems for 1 single slot, is a complete ripoff!

From the above post it looks like a single slot for 700 gems:

Buy three, buy the endless pickaxe/axe/sickle and swap each character’s standard junk gathering tools out for it when you need to. This is arguably far less exciting than I first though, but it’s something. I think I might have enough gems laying around to get at least one slot and a gathering tool.

MiniEquine.6014

Since it basically looks like they are going to do this, and believe me I fanboyed in excitement when I first heard, they should probably look into doing a couple of things:

1) Add in huge invisible walls or killzones/teleportzones surrounding each map. There is no sense in making map breakout easier than it is now.

2) Updrafts should be very limited or non-existent. The point of the addition of gliding in Core Tyria should be because it can be added, not that it is a required mechanic; because it’s not. Updrafts were put in the jungle to help you climb as a sometimes necessary mechanic. It could be explained away as the jungle being the only place capable of causing updrafts.

3) Jumping Puzzles

a) Despite Amethyst Rose’s naysaying, they have a point; please put in a toggle hotkey or option to enable/disable gliding. There are certain JPs that only go up and one wrong keystroke like holding the spacebar just slightly too long may result in your glider popping out and ruining the jump. This is almost certainly necessary as Core Tyria JPs were designed without any consideration for the glider and are sometimes frustrating enough as they are, but the option to use the glider would still be welcome.

b) Specifically for Griffinrook Run, this JP would be trivialized but you could instead add a debuff, let’s call it the “Heavy Bomb” debuff, that disables your ability to glide while carrying the bomb. I really don’t see any other way to handle this one because the JP is so wide open with loads of good jumping points.

Other than that, go ham! I don’t necessarily see a problem with WvW but I bet it won’t be put there and it’s probably for the best.

If this were a game that took months to hit level cap I would be incline to agree with you, but even casual playing will net you copious amounts of Tomes of Knowledge. I think I have 150 in my bank right now and I don’t do anything outside of dailies, fractal dailies, and then occasional HoT meta. Getting to 80 is a piece of cake in this game!

This item is for people who have used all their Tomes of Knowledge, like me!
I’ve seen several people wanting the same however leveling a new character from scratch is not feasible!

Emphasis mine. Why do you think it is not feasible? The most powerful weapons and armor you can gather are all account-bound, not soul-bound. If you do all four of the PvP dailies every day and log in every day, you get 44 every month (16 from logging in and picking the 6 from the chest at the end, 28 from daily PvP rewards). After 55 days you will have enough ToK to level a character from 2 to 80 with 2 ToK left over, and you get the ascended chest to use as you wish after that to boot. It’s far from impossible and it’s how I brought the 6 under-80’s I had to 80 right after HoT hit (including a Revenant).

I have only been playing seriously since early this year and have 9 80’s. The daily PvP rewards are the key to getting 80’s because of the reward tracks.

If there is any possibility of extending ways to get Wintersday Gifts or even being able to craft the drinks it would be a lot more reasonable even if the total stayed at 10,000. Most of us don’t want to be handed skins, but a lot of us are casual enough where there is absolutely no possibility of us getting enough presents during Wintersday (especially because of vacations/holiday with family, etc) or even saving enough gold for the drinks on the TP, which will increase in price after Wintersday ends.

Please, if possible, make some of the Wintersday events continue on after the festival ends. I don’t mind running the JP hundreds of times as long as I don’t need to cram all the runs into a 1-week time period

I jumped the gun and finished the other 9 requirements for Winter’s Presence. I thought the Imbiber achievement would have been okay to handle at least over the year they say. Doing some napkin math, if you are in the JP every second you are in the game and say you play for 3 hours every day without fail. Suppose you succeed at the JP 50% of the time (7 complete runs per round) and you get a drink from presents 90% of the time, then you would need to play for 71.4 hours or 23 days and 20 hours of non-stop JP just to get enough presents to convert to drinks before you need to start relying on the TP. You basically either need to dedicate your life to this JP while Wintersday is going or be prepared to pay a ton of money.

I wish I had done this math prior to making the MF items. That’s 50g I won’t be getting back

You need to keep trying (I assume you mean the Wintersday JP). It takes a few tries but if somebody leaves the instance then you will get in.

So..the Revenant "lore" (spoilers)

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

MiniEquine.6014

No no no no, the lore is even way better:

There have been Revenants since before the pact was founded. As a Revenant you become the Pact’s commander, defeat Zhaitan and stuff. Then Rytlock vanishes into the mists and somehow manages to change his class. Later in HoT he returns (becoming the “first” Revenant) and you wonder what those new skills and the new magic is that he uses (Even though you can do the same since the beginning).

Multiple years (story wise) after you’ve started your journey as a Revenant, Rytlock becomes the “first” Revenant and brings with him completely “new” and “unknown” magic.

The one issue with this is your character still exists within the time frame of the living world. starting a new character right now starts their journey with the HoT story going on. Since all personal story is instanced content, it would make sense that it is perhaps a flashback or something. In the case of the Revenants, if you run one through the PS you are the only one, right? You could make an argument that you are using your “spirit powers” to experience killing Zhaitan through the Pact Commander, no?

I would like to go on record saying I disagree with OP vehemently. The winter JP is a perfect difficulty. Probably a 5 on a 1-10 scale. If you can complete it once, completing it 3x is a piece of cake.

Just be patient. Getting frustrated is normal when you don’t succeed, but that’s not a good enough reason to remove it. The human race wouldn’t be where it is today if we didn’t feel that frustration on failing and causing us to strive to succeed even more. It’s a motivator!

I agree with this. After getting into the groove (and failing maybe 20 times) I managed to clear it 3 times in a row. It’s muscle memory. It’s worth noting that all three successes were after turning the game off for a couple of hours and going back to it after resting on it.

Until Anet balance elite vs vanilla specs, HoT is p2w for pvp.

At the very most, GW2:HoT could be considered Buy2Win, not Pay2Win, as it has been stated above. Aside from the fact that claiming it is either of those has no good arguments, you can only ever pay just the one time for the “upgrade”. There is absolutely no benefit in investing beyond the cost of the expansion so it is absolutely not Pay2Win.

JP is the slowest actually since you have to take into account the 2h it takes to actually get into the map

I’m gonna be honest, the map rounds are 30 minutes so at most you should only have to wait that long. I know my anecdotal evidence counts for jack all, but I have only had to ever wait 1 minute, tops. Though yesterday it was redirecting me back to DR a couple of times before I got it.

Maybe there’s something with the accounts specifically experiencing this?

Here are all the different combinations of sale/sub/win methods. There are 8 distinct methods with variances in how much they do one thing or another.

GW2 core game is clearly B2P; this cannot even be argued.

GW2:HoT is much more subjective. I would still argue it is B2P solely with regard to the expansion. I don’t believe it is reasonable to compare MMORPG expansions to their previous expansion or core game with regard to whether it is P2W because the expansion almost always increases level caps and gear values. I would argue that, while people would be very upset (me included), if there were an increase in level cap in GW2:HoT, then nobody would be claiming that GW2:HoT is P2W unless you also consider every MMO expansion to be P2W.

I’ll have to try that middle lane. I found the gingerbread one so far to be the best for me since there’s only one instance where you have to jump onto the candy canes. Still a bit of annoyance through that I have to wait for snowflakes to spawn as I’m jumping.

Middle lane is my favorite. It’s the least stressful by far, though I do have to re-position my mouse halfway through it because you have to turn left a lot more than you turn right. (I just hold both mouse buttons while running through it and don’t let go)

Not to devalue what OP is saying, but what exactly do you expect Anet to do about this? You can’t expect all their content to be “easy” for everyone – that’s unrealistic. You also can’t expect them to make everything “hardcore” either. They need to add both. There is literally nothing they can do for other people’s ISP issues.

I just don’t understand what people expect to be done when it’s impossible to cater to everyone’s situation at all times. And all this hostility seems to be centered around, let’s face it, a vanity item. There was no where near as much disagreement when Masteries dropped. Where these same problems affect people doing the new content.

Seriously. There are a lot of mastery points gated behind insane tasks like the diving, getting all the cultural armor skins, and coin collections. To that point, there are complaints about those too, but there are also more mastery points than there are masteries. I think that’s worth mentioning that to get the collection item requires the JP as opposed to getting all masteries that doesn’t require the diving achievement (though I did get that over some other ones…).

You have your opinion and I have mine. Remember, you’re the one that responded to my post. It wasn’t the other way around. I made an observation on what I have noticed and you’re the one trying to invalidate what I said and dismiss it. Follow your own advice. Thanks.

I took what you originally said as dismissive of the topic at hand in general.

“I see it as a fad item and people will move on to the next hot item.”

Ok, so fine, your opinion, but in a thread that was primarily about how some community members are basically invalidating the the life circumstances of others, I think you can see how it might come across.

Y’all are in a tiff over this, but there are two points to the same reality here; you’re both not necessarily wrong and there is a way Anet could have set this up where it wouldn’t matter if you did the JP or not.

Ayrilana is correct in that it is just a fad item. Even a majority of people who can do the JP will never own this item. The item is required for absolutely nothing except, if you want to get technical, maybe towards 1 point of the wardrobe achievement (though I bet most people getting this item already have that).

You’re correct that Anet could have put a friendlier system in place. I can beat the JP but there is RNG with the present section so it is more frustrating than I would like to admit. Where you’re wrong is where you say “community members are basically invalidating the the life circumstances of others”, which is a clear misrepresentation of the counter-argument to the OP. It’s not as though people are actively campaigning against people with disabilities to put content in the game that they literally can’t do, they just don’t want content disabled or made pointless because somebody can’t do it.

The best alternative to what we have now would be the token system that somebody introduced above. If somebody wants to do the JP and have it count towards the achievement let them, but also don’t make them do the choir bells or what have you if they are rhythmically impaired and can never hit the right notes. Vice versa for people who don’t like/can’t do the JP.

Probably another good alternative would be to give credit to people for participating in the JP if they stay the entire time and at least try. People who complete the JP over and over will get the achievements faster, but in the end everyone can get it. After all, the snowball fight doesn’t require wins and choir bells doesn’t require a certain score, it just requires you to be in the “match”.

To get Winter’s Presence you are required to finish the winter jumping puzzle 3 times. I believe that would be a platforming requirement.

And how is Winter’s Presence part of the game world? Is it necessary to continue a Story? A Map? Access a Point of Interest, HP, or Vista? A Dungeon? A Fractal?
It’s a skin!

Not having Winter’s Presence does not in any way bar you from experiencing the game, so just like the other platforms which are a sideshow, just skip it.

EDIT

I’ve put forth this suggestion in another thread. Award tokens after completing each event(bell choir, jumping puzzle, snowball fight, and infinitarium). Have each of the collectibles have a token cost. Since the snowglobe took 3 successful jumping puzzle completions charge 3 tokens for it….. etc. etc. This I think would be a reasonable way to go about earning the skin. That way you could do the events you want and still earn the skin. After all isn’t the game about entertainment?

I could be behind this. It is perfectly reasonable on the grounds that the difficulty of achieving the shoulders is quantifiably as difficult as it is now.

This is exactly how I feel about all of this. We should never treat people poorly for their inability to do certain things in-game, but we also mustn’t forget that this skin is not required. Putting insane tasks like this as a gate for personal story or world exploration would be cause for uproar but not for a side-quest that leads to an item 99% of players will never own.

I do like this token idea though, which also allows players to continually do what they enjoy. This is a good fix for this issue, albeit a bit too late for this year. Hopefully Anet uses this when planning the next festival.

You can indeed just block everyone who does this. Once an account is blocked you never have to worry about them again unless you unblock them. The key is to IMMEDIATELY block them without responding if they start to harass you. If they start telling their friends to message you just keep right-clicking and blocking. Don’t give them any satisfaction by responding because you are playing right into their trap. My blood pressure has dropped significantly after adopting this approach because I really could not care less what random internet troll thinks about me and no amount of me responding will ever make them apologize.

If you are consistently getting this though are you sure you are not instigating somehow? I’m not making any assumptions, but you know the saying, “If everyone you meet is a [insert expletive], then you might be the [expletive]”. If you are not instigating, then I would recommend preemptively blocking people who you think may get super salty at you. I block trolls in PvP all the time before they say a word to me because they don’t deserve to even be able to send me a message.

Diving Master mastery point

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

MiniEquine.6014

As of right now, there are more mastery points in Core Tyria than we need, so none of us have to get each and every point.

Unfortunately no less than 16 (sixteen!!!!) of those points are in Living Story 2, which an increasing number of players do not have. It is gem store purchasable but not cheap. Without LS2 you pretty much need every other mastery point. The saving grace is that only players who plan on crafting legendaries need to do the legendary track, and those players must be able to generate big chunks gold so can probably afford to buy LS2.

I’ve just scraped enough gold together to buy it. Obviously you can spend RL cash, which I’m sure is part of ANet’s grand plan.

All things considered, 8 of those 16 mastery points are earned by simply doing the Living World Season 2 story, which are very simple albeit time-consuming. Some of the mastery achievements are quite difficult but some are easier and it is very possible to get about 10 mastery points in a week if you put the time in for it (if you can).

If you want a decent way to get a lot of gold, collect all your crafting mats and make ascended materials every day. Those Spiritwood Planks are selling for a lot still.

It might be -user XXXXXXX -password XXXXXXX -nopatchui instead (I don’t recall, I’m not on the computer I play GW2 on right now). Just remember, the tags go in with a single space between each and with no quotes or anything.

Like I mentioned, I get a blank screen if there is any update in the queue.

I’ll copy exactly what I have in my command line (minus my login info :P) here when I get back home. Hopefully we can get this working for you!

I forgot to mention, I have already tried the commands from that page, They do work perfectly but only login one account at a time.

When I try and use a second shortcut for my other account it only logs in the first account that is already typed into the login GUI

If I manually change the login on the login GUI it only logs in that account and vice versa… Crazy… Or I’m missing something :P

I used the following command line for my two shortcuts:

-nopatchui -user XXXXXXX -password XXXXXXX

This bypasses the patchui and just puts in the new username and password. The only issue is that if the game has an update it will lock up when you try to open it. I have a 3rd shortcut that opens the patch UI like normal to download the files then I switch to the other shortcuts.

Diving Master mastery point

Do the gold coin achievement in Silverwastes if you thought the aetherblade JP puzzle was difficult. That one also rewards a mastery point if I remember correctly.

I tried doing this on my engineer first and then realized I would never keep my sanity without switching to my Mesmer for the three coins near the Topsy Turvy. There are too many difficult jumps deep in the mini-JPs for each coin that you sometimes can’t even survive a fall from (to then use Port Entre). Yes, it does reward a Mastery Point.
