This is actually ridiculous, how do you counter these things when they drop poison and bleeding, disappear, and repeat process?

Can’t wait out and watch what happens since both conditions deal 2k a tick. All I’ve been seeing in gold 1 are condition builds, I my teams is pretty average, we communicate and such, but when the enemy is heavily Condi built, it’s almost impossible. From what I know, thieves only have 2 skills that remove 3 conditions each but with long 30 seconds+ cooldowns, and one automatic one that removes one condition but that’s IF u dodge an Attack, but how can u dodge an Attack when the thief is cloaked?

I already know there will be comments like “learn 2 play” but the fact I keep seeing these thieves in the ladder one after the other is getting out of hand. I play as Sw/D thief in PvP because since my ping is a sits around d 90-110, Steal doesn’t work 8 times out of 10.

Hey so im a gold 3 thief, ive played sw/? Since they release. Its my favorite. Recently i have switched from s/d to s/p. When you approach a condi thief always apprach with Infiltrators strike.. This will leave an escape gap, remove one of those condis. If you do this, fight him away from where your port is. For s/d you have to use your Flanking strike to dodge either his lotus evade, or his death blossom. If its a d/d he can use a total of 5-6 deathblossoms, and 4-5 evades. You as s/d have same evasiveness if you are bothusing trickery and daredevil. You can either choose to eat some of the burst and condi cleanse or you can try to match his evades. Id reccomend eating some of them, this puts you ahead with more evades and initiative. It is difficult to do because like you said the condis tick high. But thats because they are stacking two maybe three damaging condis. The main ones being bleeds and poison. If you can get ahead with evades or initative you can wait untill you see he us out of resource.
This is what i see alot, bask venom,steal→evade or death blossom x4 and some dagger autos.
If they open with bask venom, use a utility to break because a birst is coming, or take the burst and condi cleanse after your out of bask.
I use s/p and i suggest you try. The daze will ruin thier day. Id go on in super detail about fighting condi cancer but thatd be super super long gl

And how do you “wait” for 15 seconds? If you just run away for that time = no initiative spend:) Not all classes can dodge 3 -5 times within 15 seconds.
Also this thread is about lower ranks, where condi Thieves are op as hell.

Condi remove. Your stacking two conditions high stacks. I use s/d and s/p which has a built in condi remove… plus blocks immune resistance. Goold luckwith condi revs or res warriors

Dont rely to heavily on stuns vs many classes youll peel off some layers of stability and then all of yor stuns are on cd. I prefer DA over Acro for a huge damage bump. Also i dont use the physical skills other than bandit def. it frees up the first dare devil trait to give you 7% more damage. Also you have no condi remove which is a huge problem in this cancer heavy meta. This is what i use

Shhhhh dont get us nerfed. I used s/d till recently and i switch to s/p… the burst and intterupts is too good. Even if they have stability steal will take that off, plus the 3 daze. I remeber i burst down a necro before he could pop death shroud. Took 3 seconds.. got a double intterupt plus s/p 3

I play s/d and s/p, and i have sine the start basically. I fight alot of d/p and condi thieves. I likefighting a good d/p because it is challenging. There are many benfits feom both s/d and d/p but i think alot comes to preference. If your not good at back stabbing your not going to play dagger oh. If your not good at dazing your not going to play s/p. Also alot of pugs complain about thieves but if you know your place dont worry bout thhose that bm. You have the most mobility as a thief so if you see a team with out a thief you have that advantage and you should use it.

rev has a trait that removes 2 stacks of stability on knockback stun etc. tablets ult explodes the tablet and knocks back. he prob just resummoned it and when it was up again just kept using it

yishis is my favorite thief. he retired gw2 though. he has amazing gameplay and commentary

the problem with switching stealth to blind is it makes the stealth skills obsolete. i play s/d in pvp every day and id say 70% f the time im seeing condi thieves, 30% d/p power and then alot of other things such as hybrid builds and other stuff. i use stealth even kitten. while yes it does cripple our power to cap, it can makes us excellent at decapping and running in sticky situations. i feel like i have my place in pvp, i stick to the sides which will usually cause 1-2 people to come after me from mid… this puts us at numbers. buffs for s/d id like to see, faster AA. Id die to see the day they makee s/d 3 cycle on hit, even blocks, because that ruins alot. i think d/d needs a 3 rework so it can focus on being a power weapon, something to make it worth using, i love using CnD but its been nerfed down and d/p should win vs d/d every time which is a problem, there is so much more to offer for d/p vs d/d.

Pvp is fustrating because of all of the quitters and people who bm. As for the tablet, it takes so much energy to use, it leaves very little for skills on weapons to be used, not only do your weapons skills have cds but they also consume energy, and if your energy is too low from using your utilities then your screwed.

Yea if you see him in centaur form, he is either healing, or removing condis. He can still deal damage obviously with his weapon, but his skills are purely defensive, id put a few condis on him so he wastes his energy removing them, then apply heavy pressure after. You won the fight so you did fine. I have seen people switch to centaur just to fake the heals, and instead they start to burst you down but thats some mind trick stuff, and most people dont pay attention or they dont play rev to know what hes doing. I main thief but ive made it a habit to get the pvp titles for each class. This helped me learn what each class does and how their builds work.

Dont forget that our elusiviness is one of our classes strong points. Evading dodging trying to confuse te enemy. I pllayed some necro in the past mainly in pve but i can tell you know thief is alot different and alot harder mainly because of the tank difference. Even with a decent amt of hp, thieves can still drop in 3 hits. Also try guerrilla tactics, i play s/d and it works well, especially when out numbered. With d/p stealth up-backstab-drop blindingpowder on the enemy- auto him until you are not revealed, and repeat. If needed run to heal

That thing is the tablet, it the centaur stance. It has only healing capabilities, the ult has a knock back but the rest is just healing and condi clear. Only usedul if you invest in healing power. Which then reduces your damage.. i like the stance but i find it hard to use. Also staff has condi clear which he was using, not sure about his secondsrg he dropped too fast. Im assuming he was running a regular build but with the centaur stance because the healing on his tablet was very low. Hes nothing to worry about. Just watch out for the demon stances out there

Check out terrissmo’s youtube channel. She has a good build for both metas. I love the sword for its mobility and boon rip. So i cant speak for staff or d/p i havent played either lol although i have an easier time fighting staff than d/p if that helps

I have yet to switch to staff. Im having a hard time juggling the tablet with hammer. I tend to either auto attack and control the tablet, or use hammer skills and lose my focus on the tablet.

Ive seen bots in my match. Spawns, casually walks to mid. Auto attacks until dead. It was an asura engi. Never once dodge never once talked never once used a skill. Did the same exact thing everytime he spawned. Same path to mid. I whispered him trying to talk to him, i just said hey and of course nothing.

Having trouble knowing how to manage my energy.. im using centaur/dragon. If i use the centaur ult i can use any of my skills or utilities. If i use centaur condi remove skill i can use about 1 weapon skill and thats it. In dragon i do better, but when i get intteruprt when popping my ult. It drains my energy and then it ruins my everything. Drops my energy all the way down pops all my utilities an i cant use any of my weapon skills..

Haha. And i mean if im blind i will miss my 50% more dmg right?

Unblockable doesnt help blind right? The combo of COR and the other one that makes my next two attacks unblokable is a great combo. Also what about when someone goes invuln such as a mes or guard

It’s not really a roaming build. I just made a glass cannon for fun and then started to wvw guild raid with it and was bored so tried solo roaming with it. Retired my druid for it.

In these 2 vids I was using a magi staff with cleansing/renewal and a bloodlust sigil on hammer. Changed them out. Also changed from precision utility to power.

is it just me or do we have nothing when it comes to these… yea we have a few fields but we have few finishers and alot of them take a long time to cast. and on top of that we only have 2 stun breaks…

I dont pve with my thief. Only good for zerker dps and he dies in 1 hit almost always. I usually use my nexro or mesmer. S/d can handle 1vx well. The key is to seperste the melee from the ranged, and then port to the back line to dps the other class down. Keep them seperated. As for necro fracs im just not a big fan of gs necro some like it others dont

So i main thief with a dabble of mesmer. I plan on playing mes more now. Ive never tried a hybrid build, but i want to try one for mes. An interrupt shatter hybrid. What kind of stats ami looking for? I dont even know where to start. I always played power teef with a little condi every now and then. Is full vipers good for a hybrid? Is it too squishy?? Help meee

Yea im just seeing block all the time now. I break ageis they shield block, after that another ageis pops. Then they use some invuln skill. Oh wait another ageis pops up..

Do you utilize the build on metabattle? The power reaper? I guess my only concern is that the power gear wont be useful on Mesmer or Ele, whereas if I craft Vipers ascended at least I can use it on other characters. I just keep doubting necro as a viable main

If you plan to use asc on myltiple char, your best bet is to craft vipers, mauraders or zerkers for armor and fill in the holes with weapons and trinks. Most of your stats come from weaps and trinks. I dont like metabattle somethings vary person to person and you should do what suits you. Such as i prefer d/wh over gs for mobility and s little more life force

I’m new to Necromancer and just gearing up mine. I decided to go for the condition build simply because my main character is a power thief, and I really doubt that power necro could compete with that. I already now how it feels to go full berserker and how much damage you can hand out, and for my necro, going for conditions really seems appropriate. It’s the classic damage source for this class in my experience, and for a power-based character, other classes are better. Necro has so many skills and traits that use conditions, won’t they become less useful if you build a power-reaper?

As I said, I’m new to necro, but that build Mystogan posted has the Reaper elite traited but no Greatsword equipped. Coming from thief, that looks weird to me, since thief’s elite is only really useful if you equip the weapon for it, in this case staff.

You couldnt be more wrong. The thiefs ult is for insta stomping. You dont need the weapon to use it. I use s/d and i use the ult to quickly turn a 2v1 in to an instant 1v1. nO STAFF needed, the staff is a one trick pony too. The gs for reaper is for dps and control, axe is ranged and applies alot of vuln, focus helps dps. If your mad about no gs just switch d/wh, youll just have less life force regen. You dont need your new weapon to becone viable. And every class has options to go condition and power. Dont be so narrow minded. Also if your going condi and use gs, your doing it wrong

Can i get some examples of guardian spvp builds? Trapper, burning, etc, i have the hardest time fighting you guys and i want to see where im going wrong

Still havin the hardest time with guards. The tips on scrapper will help. I can get him down to his elixer s but after he usually wrecks me, i will save my burst for after. Guards i just cant even get near. Too much passive damage going on with traps and blocks and burn. Its a mess for me

Ill try to record some once i finish my set off. But i think there are a decent amount of us. I just dont want too many of us running around because then the nerfs will come

Ive never been with out executioner and am afraid to switch but i keep forgetting about the recharge skill thing. Granted all of my utilities are defensive idk how muh the rechagre will help

Im not relying on it for damage, but i have had many times where PI is a make a or break in a battle. Especially for instakilling with ult

Yea steal, the ult has two intturpts, and then stealth attack from behind. Im still on the fence. Ive been able to handle consi thieves but necro condi is a bit much. Especially with the second health bar. I have to kite usually until their shroud is almost up…

I actually keep frostbow when pvping sometimes. I try to bait their stun breaks with a fake lightening rod build and hit rhem with the frostbow stun and prceed to make it rain on them! I whipp it out when they least expect it

Ive been doing ok on the scrapper front.. starting to see more turrets pop up. Guards though… i fear them, its the only class i fear atm. Too many circles of death. There is no tell for their ageis buff and i end up either hitting in to it with a cnd or end up getting blinded, and at that point between his retaliation burn or traps ir whatever it js doing damage has already gotten me low, causing me to retreat, by the time im healed his skills are off cd.

What do you guys do against these two, spesificslly, burn guard and scrapper engi. I find the guards getting ageis all the time and blind so i cant hit them. Scrappers just mess me up

How do i go about fighting you, i play thief s/d exclusively and when i get near you i melt

Ive just come back after a long break, started in silver and ranked to gold in two days solo queing. I had manyragers and toxic players, i ignored them and we even won some of those games. Does the mmr ranking change when i get to a highr rank? I dont see a prob with where im at. I win proll 60%. Im more surprised they havent brought in ctf or tdm in the comp scene… its a shame because this game has alot of potential for a real competitive scene they just dont capitalize on it.
