Choosing such easy way to raise your mastery points is disgusting, but it is not worth leaving over it.
You’re confusing easy for efficient. Unless you plan on getting your central masteries through grinding high level fractals, then every way you farm mastery xp is going to be earned through easy content.
ANet doesn’t care about PvP, and even if they did, they haven’t been able to create solid PvP since GW1.
There isn’t a large enough playerbase to support a functional league system.
ANet gave up on PvP years ago. The crap they pulled with GW1 PvP is evident of that. Despite their completely empty promises with GW2, I don’t know why anyone took them seriously when they talked about GW2 PvP.
ANet is an American company, they update on American times. It’s going to be late at night somewhere in the world regardless of when they deploy the patch. They didn’t blow anything, you’re just upset that ANet doesn’t cater to overseas when they work.
You’re seriously complaining about getting bad loot from easy mobs?
Question.
Why is she spending resources terrorising every zone when she should be saving up for the attack on Lion’s Arch?
Distractions?
ANet gives us short-term goals, people complain about how easy they are to obtain.
ANet gives us long-term goals, people complain about how long they take to obtain.
Let’s be honest, this is a small issue. Nobody can plan for something like this.
I have yet to see anyone successful role out content without any bugs.
The Other MMO that really big one that has been around years still has issues rolling out patches and they test for months.
Give Anet some credit they are giving your free updates, every couple of weeks, with great content (not always to everyones taste, but you can’t please everyone) and they are doing it on limited time.
We shouldn’t be complaining we should be thanking them for their hard work. So what if you can’t play instantly on release day, they don’t want to make you wait, they want you to enjoy their hard work. This is their master piece and I for one and very grateful for all their hard work.
So they can take all the time they need to get this fixed, I am happy to wait a couple of days and enjoy some of the other FREE content they added this year.
People like you are the reason that game developers consistently get away with stuff like this. Carry on.
Warrior – spear/polearm
Guardian – flail
Game is 100% dead now. It’s a good thing GW2 has a PTR to test out things in real time.
Don’t be silly, everyone knows AAA MMOs have no need for PTRs!
Don’t understand crafting? Well, head over to gw2crafts.net and choose your discipline and either a normal or fast guide. It will take you from 0-400 in 5-10 minutes; then you can work your way from 400-500 so you’re geared towards ascended crafting.
Yeah, that’s the site I used (normal Guide, being careful since I don’t know what I’m doing). I generally go through 2-3 Crafting Boosters to get to 400, so we’re talking 2-3 hours. There’s no way on God’s green Earth you could possibly do that in 5-10 minutes.
I have absolutely no idea how it takes you anywhere close to 2 hours to craft 1-400. Buy mats, go to station, craft for 10 minutes, done.
Dark Souls 2 is out in March, so I’m pretty excited for 2014.
Did I call GW2 a bad game, or even talk negatively about it at all in my post? No. I simply stated GW2 won because it had zero competition, which it didn’t. It won by default and it’s nothing to be excited about.
Except it did have competition, from all the other MMOs that are on the market.
Game of the year awards are generally given to the best title released in the given year. Nothing worth mentioning came out in 2013, they had to give it to something, so they gave it to the most successful recent MMO (which happens to be GW2). If anything half decent came out this year that didn’t die off in 3 months, chances are they would have awarded it to that game. GW2 won MMO GotY in 2012 because it was superior to the other MMOs in 2012, and it deserved the award. It won this year simply because the award had to go to something.
(edited by PVStar.3658)
Of course it won, there’s was no competition in 2013 for MMOs.
Testament to how bad the MMO market has become when a ‘C-’ title can claim to be the best of the bunch.
And thus the naysayers appear. This is why we can’t have people over.
Did I call GW2 a bad game, or even talk negatively about it at all in my post? No. I simply stated GW2 won because it had zero competition, which it didn’t. The fact that a game released mid 2012 won GotY for 2013 shows that nothing worth mentioning even came out in 2013. They had to choose something, so they chose the most successful recent MMO that’s been released.

If you continually dc then you’re a liability for everyone you play with and to be honest you shouldn’t be playing online games with others. As for simply missing queues, that’s 100% your own fault. GW2 has a nasty problem with leavers, this is the solution. Don’t PvP if you’re just going to afk after you queue, and don’t PvP if you’re having issues with your connection.
The fact that GW2 is an MMO automatically killed any chances it had to become E-sports worthy. I have no idea why anyone thought it had potential with 8 different classes, 40 different trait-lines, countless skills, etc. It is literally impossible to balance such a thing, you’re always going to have at a list of different things that are crazy overpowered or underpowered.
LoL has 117 champions each with 4 unique skills, hundreds of items, dozens of runes/masteries, and is the most successful esport out. Balance isn’t the issue GW2 has with becoming an esport, the issue is pretty much everything else about GW2 PvP.
They should make it so you only need to complete 1 borderland. They’re all the same kitten map.
Don’t expect ANet (or any company) to respond to absolutely everything the forums cry about.
Personally I put melted cheese on my forehead and pray to Odin before I salvage items, they say that helps your chances at getting ectos.
Scarlet becoming an ally is worse than a M. Night Shyamalan twist.
looks bad
it dont looks like a dragon more like a chinese unicorn on crack or something
is this real or photshopped?
cause cant believe arenanet would make such ugly finsiher^^
10/10 would read again
seemingly the primary focus being placed on PvP and trying to push the game into an eSport
This has to be an elaborate troll.
> 7 thiefs and a mesmer
Don’t worry guys, he’s talking about hotjoin.
ANet slid the core issues of PvP under the rug and showed off some new shiny rewards. The sad part is, people actually bought it.
No reason an item should go from 8s per to 40s per just because new armor came out.
Supply and demand. Do they not teach this in high school?
GW2 is the most alt friendly MMO on the market. Go try out any other MMO and see how much it caters to people who enjoy alts compared to how it is here.
As someone who PvPs for the sake of playing other players instead of AI as opposed to PvPing to play dress up, I must say I really, really couldn’t care less than PvE players can use legendary skins in PvP before PvP players can.
From the wiki:
“Everytime you kill a monster you roll on a number of tables, inside these tables are different rarity categories. Magic find increases the chances you will get higher categories. For example if there is a 1 in 10 category, and you have 200% magic find you will have 3/10 chances to get that category. This improves not just the rarity of the items you get but can also improve your chances at getting trophies and rare crafting materials like lodestones.”
So does this simply mean that now I will be getting much less rare/exotic drops than I used to 8 months ago?
Magic find itself works the exact same way as it always has, acquiring it is the only thing that’s changed.
Dota 2 has the playerbase to support a fully functioning MMR system, GW2 does not. No matter what ANet does, there will not be a decent matchmaking system until there is a large enough pool of players for the system to choose from at a given time.
It makes perfect sense. It’s probability, not a guarantee.
Isn’t it silly and pointless rating the classes before the balance patch and the effect of 8 new healing skills?
No one’s rating the classes based on the new healing skills, they’re rating the classes based on the new healing skills along with the balance patch.
If every warrior in solo arena tried running a 100b build I would be so happy. Seriously.
Scarlet: “It’s time to make this dragon my pet!”
Jormag: Eats Scarlet, vomits due to how disgusting the salad tasted. Becomes weak.
Players: Attack with canons
Jormag: 1 HP left
Trahearne: Pokes Jormag with his finger, Jormag dies. “This victory belongs to me!”
You deserve a job at ANet, well done.
What do you mean by selfish? You deal less damage so the enemies live longer. Longer fights = more fun. More fun = good. Your build is not selfish, all the dps focused builds are selfish, since they want all the red bars for themselves!
Can’t tell if serious or trolling.
Because different classes are different.
It doesn’t matter how much support ANet give them, GW2 (and MMOs in general) are rather boring to watch.
Usually it would be already up for ~4 hours. Probably they have nothing to show us.
True, massive rebalances + 8 new skills is “nothing to show us”.
8 new skills? They said 1 new skill..
Each class is receiving a new healing skill.
“Before we get started, I want to make sure it is understood that these are long term plans and that plans can change or get delayed for any number of reasons”
“The goals of these changes are to make PvP a more integral part of the overall Guild Wars 2 experience, to lay the foundation for new game modes”
From the sounds of it, don’t expect a new game mode for a long time. Dress up is more important than actual PvP I suppose.
I have no idea why they’re implementing this if they plan on removing glory all together.
The race specific stories are fun, after that it’s pretty terrible. I have 3 80s and I’ve only finished on one.
He’s always there in explorable mode, and you can only get the achievement from the explorable version (like the achievements for the hybrid in tower of nightmares).
You know….I think I might actually laugh out loud if it turns out that Scarlet accidentally woke up the elder dragons, and that she was responsible for Zhaitan raising Orr, and that these “thumpers” are her attempt to bring Primordius up….and that it really has been her all along, it never had anything to do with the dragons at all. GW2 is the story of Scarlett.
Oh? You mean Gw2 isn’t the story of the great sylvari First Born Trahearne?
Now all we need if for Scarlett and Trahearne to fall in love.
Remember, I called it first!
They’re probably the same person. I’ve never seen them in the same room, have you?
They’re both sylvari, both steal the spotlight and total makeover kits are a thing.
I’m just say’n…
I’m not saying I’m Batman, but I’ve never been seen in the same room as Batman…
Next year they’ll add a worse villain, and we’ll look back and say “I really wish Scarlet was still around instead of this guy”.
There was no real chance for the Abaddon fractal, they wouldn’t be able to shoehorn Scarlet into it. It was a rigged poll.
Oh no, they would have, and they would have completely ruined Abaddon. So I’m pretty thankful they let Scarlet ruin the Reactor instead.
About two weeks ago I visited the claw of Jormag, it was early in the morning and few people were on. There were precisely 3 of us. After 10 minutes we gave up, no point in trying to do it. It wasn’t that we were not skillful, we were, we stayed alive close in to the ice champions. The problem was they spawned so quickly we couldn’t even think of trying anything against the Claw. The Champions gave no rewards at all.
I passed through there again last week. There was me and a commander. We didn’t even bother.
The tougher Jormag has killed the event. There are better rewards from much easier events.
Considering teq is going to have ascended weapons in his loot tables + other decent stuff, I don’t think the effort vs reward ratio seems too off for this. Jormag is just awful, but if it could drop ascended weapons it would be a hell of a lot more popular.
If I see skyhammer come up, I alt-f4. I never actually go into the map so idk if the system puts in a new person or if the team fights undermanned. Either way, I hope anet gets the message soon.
You left your team to a 4v5.
You basically gave a loss to 4 people who didn’t deserve to.
AND you gave a win to 5 people who didn’t deserve to.
^ This. If you are planning on leaving a game simply because of the random map, don’t even bother entering to begin with.
If ANet didn’t add ridiculous maps like Skyhammer to the pool, less people would leave games.
Yup, games dead because there aren’t enough people standing in LA.
