@Ozbrikk
“but equally anything that requires the slightest amount of skill I seem to fail at (for instance jumping puzzles and even some vistas) and find tedious”
- Are you using the default settings for controls? If I remember correctly, the default for “A” and “D” are turns instead of strafe left/right. And the skills are set to the numbers above. Most players instinctively remap their controls to that of FPS games where strafes are on A & D, using the (right button hold) mouse to turn their view. This allows for circle strafes and quick angle change. Skills are mapped to keys around the standard WASD movement keys (i.e. Q, E, R, F, C, Z). My dodge is on left-Shift and weapswap on left-Ctrl. Left-Alt is pickup/activate.
- This control aspect is often overlooked by players and definitely contributes to the skill-cap for each player. Combat controls should be as fluid as possible.
- If your current build just isn’t working for your fights with Liadri, you may also want to consult your respective class forums for help in tweaking your build.
Getting lots of this on PvP, whenever change of map or loading a new game.
“What do you guys think about Moa, is it really, really powerful or not? Why?”
It is powerful against players who need to l2p. So in your case, it is the necro who needs to l2p.
The skill can be dodged, blocked or obstructed. On top of that it has a long cool down. So let’s say you cast it and your enemy runs down a slope and goes out of the line of sight (obstructed), no more moa for the CD period. Same goes for dodged or blocked instances.
In moa form, a player can still dodge + they are equipped with a “flee” skill (5) that evades for 3/4 sec. Good players make use of those to run off and come back when the polymorph wears off. Either that, or they would perform a “2,4,3,1…1…1” on you if you are low on health.
This is polymorph moa, not polymorph rock.
I third this! Especially on Asura…. it’s like barely visible…. at least to the same size as the other winged back pieces.
Some UI improvements for mantra I am hoping Anet would implement:
1. The number of charges for channeled mantras in the buffs area need to be more visible. Right now they are white and very difficult to see. Please make them bold and red or something to that effect.
2. On the skill bar, mantras that are unchanneled or have no more charges should be greyed out, so that it is easier to identify.
Was thinking along the same line, however I was thinking more of stealth or evasion.
Add
Also hoping that they would give mesmers some way to channel mantras that are not fully charged (e.g. 1/3 charges) so that we could prepare max charges for the next battle. Right now I am forced to switch back and forth skills to remove remaining charges to rechannel, or expending the remaining which takes some time. Perhaps we could ‘Force Channel’ by pressing and holding onto the mantra – this way instead of expending, the mantra is forced channeled to full charges.

Thanks Valarauka for the inputs. I’ll try them out. =)
Gonna try rolling with this -

I’ve been through a couple of more common builds, they were good, but not my play-style. I messed around a bit and ended up like this. Kinda happy with this. It’s not elite or anything, I guess more an average all rounder and something I find comfortable. Looking for advice for small tweaks or weaknesses that you may see in it. Thanks!
Domination (Dazzling-15) + Asura (Techno Babble)
Technobabble does not proc vulnerability when Domination trait – Dazzling is up.
I am also not sure if it procs ‘halting strike’ under the domination trait lineup.
Thanks.
I was porting people for the goggles jump at the sky pirates platform during the first week after the population in the JP died down. This was mainly to help those who were trying to get the dive achievement or were simply doing it again for fun. There were many who did reach the platform on their own, but died during the 1st dive and needed to do the JP all over again for subsequent tries. The holographic mountain blocking the view wasn’t much help either. Porting them up helped them bypass the tedious & repetitive process of the JP for subsequent tries at the dive. I see portals in JPs being a useful service the mesmer class is able to provide the PvE community. Seeing people faceplant into beams repeatedly was also kind of fun =) Do not remove portals in JP. Just ignore the beggers… as a mesmer I do that too.
Made a vid for those who find it difficult.

Most in JQ are fine with the turn of the tide. Some are taking a break and enjoying some PvE new content. The remaining in WvW are just making do with what numbers they have.
But with the numbers already on BG’s side, do some still need to resort to spying, deliberately sabotaging sieges and crapping on map chat?
Could just let people choose between spending coin or karma or maybe even lose exp from current bar?
I am bugged more by the fact that I need to run around and pick up bags.
Join in on a zerg that outnumbers your enemy. Bulldoze your way through camp, towers, keeps and smaller enemy zergs. Have fun!
Is the delay in this signet fixed yet?
I created a mesmer too recently which is now my main. Yep porting in EBJP is one of the places where you could hang out. I recommend getting it to 80 and fully gearing, as there would be combat involved quite often. Jumps are definately slower and you need to get used to the shorter distance you can cover in your jumps. Route may also change if you had been relying on shortcuts before. Do not roll a mes just to port people as there are also many other fun aspects of the class. =)
Some ideas in these areas.
Guild Houses
- Permanent guild tower and guild keep instances.
- Spend influence and merit points to upgrade core defence components.
- Members can contribute using gold, karma and their crafting professions for decorative components, even rare themed decorative items using dungeon tokens.
- Option for open house to public or closed to members only.
- Free global return Waypoint, upgrades for Asura gates/portals to popular locations.
- Guild raids!
- Cost nothing to defend but minimum two defence (1/2 hr each) per week else slots would be randomly allocated the following week. Influence and merit rewards for successful defence.
- Cost influence to activate and book attack slot on other guild’s defence. Limited to 1 attack on any guild per month (No attacking same guild over and over).
- Guild ranking and tier sorting. Attacks and defences occur by tiers.
- Rewards on successful attacks based upon tier and wealth of defending guild (depending upon upgrades and deco).
Anti Spy & Saboteur WvW Measures
A Red-flag (dunce hat) feature where players can flag another team/server member for antisocial behaviour.
Once 10 flags are received, this red-flag (or dunce cap of shame) would pop-up over the head of the offending character, and he/she would not be able to do the following for 1 hour:
1. draw resources
2. plant siege
3. use siege
4. activate traps
5. see/talk in team/map chat
6. view location of commander icons
7. activate commander icon / pin up
8. siege that they have placed can be destroyed by own team members
Supreme Commander
Benefit:
- Red Pin Icon
- Ability to pick-up and relocate siege placements (rams, arrowcarts, ballistas, catapults)
- Ability to destroy own team’s siege placements
- Ability to draw (freehand/insert text) battle plans to appear on everyone’s map
- Team/Map chat in different colour/font
Cost:
- Player must already be an existing commander
- Collect 500 individual player votes (Each account can only vote once per month)
- 1000 badges
- 500 gold
- 100,000 guild influence

Rather than arguing over if it is right/wrong or what Anet should/should not do, let’s chip in some suggestions that can alleviate this problem.
My input – how about creating a red-flag feature where players can flag another team/server member for some antisocial behaviour.
Once 10 flags are received, this red-flag would pop-up over the head of the offending character, and he/she would not be able to do the following for 1 hour:
1. draw resources
2. plant siege
3. use siege
4. activate traps
5. see/talk in team/map chat
6. view location of commander icons
7. activate commander icon / pin up
8. siege that they have placed can be destroyed by own team?
and perhaps some other restrictions…

“This can easily be fixed by introducing a cap on the number of players on each map equal to the smallest total number of players of the three servers.”
Without a buffer, WvW population will effectively be 0 and stay at 0 after it resets. =)
Even with a buffer (of let’s say 20), WvW queues will be frustratingly long if competing server primetimes are not aligned.
Example -
NA Primetime:
Server A (WvW Population: 50 | Queue: 120)
Server B (WvW Population: 30 | Queue: 0)
Server C (WvW Population: 40 | Queue: 0)
Asia Primetime:
Server A (WvW Population: 50 | Queue: 0)
Server B (WvW Population: 70 | Queue: 110)
Server C (WvW Population: 65 | Queue: 0)
EU Primetime:
Server A (WvW Population: 30 | Queue: 0)
Server B (WvW Population: 50 | Queue: 30)
Server C (WvW Population: 50 | Queue: 80)
Although you won’t get as much PvDoor, the massive queues due to disaligned primetimes will cause too much frustration, WvW would end up deader than Orr.

Pop quickening zephyr with your barrage and rapid fire. It actually lasts long enough to almost complete both skills if you pop it just after you start barrage. (Barrage discharges very quickly with QZ). As with all other classes/builds, situational awareness combined with the use of appropriate skills at hand is more important than the numbers you are able to get.
Why not just enforce the map screen, such that the dead player cannot see what is around his body, but only able to look at the map and click on waypoints to respawn.
actually it’s the best server name :-P
I found a logo
Ranger is a versatile class and you need an adaptive player to play it well, not a one trick pony. A good player needs to have full situation awareness, and the ranger class is able to support most needs in a battle when called for. That said, sometimes it’s not so much of the class or profession in WvW, but the player.
Good Job CD! Way to get back into a good position again. Great job to IOJ and FA too!
Question… Who’s the FA gaurdian always leading the charge in EB? Blonde female, hard to kill…. Extra respect for you!
Mmmm. Someone likes hard blonde females. XD
Rangers are great at gathering pearls in the lake. Haven’t you noticed that many of them wear pearl necklaces?
Yes rangers are way too OP. Nerf them into oblivion! XD
No free gold? =P
Taikanaru – Yes that is the way up, and that slope is the main obstacle.
And I’ll be frank – I won’t do a video not because of my frame-rates, but because it is kitten-loads hard to get up that slope and it takes too much time.
Rangers get a new pet? I thought they only introduced new minis.
Most ridiculous I’ve seen was more than 10 enemies (invaders) camping our home BL JP with seiges. EB JP fine, but borderlands?? Whats the point?
You could turn around??
Please select difficulty level:
1. Chicken Feet (Warrior)
2. Easy (Guardian)
3. Normal (Thief)
4. Nightmare (Mesmer)
5. Hell (Necromancer)
6. Inferno (Elementalist)
7. Hardcore (Engineer)
8. OMGWTF (Ranger)
Yep horrible profession, though you can press F4 to swap pets while running away.
It’s unfortunate that ranger is my main character, unimaginable. I think I shall go make a warrior, thief or mesmer and practise solo capping a tower… they are so O.P!
Yep full berserker.
Yep capping supply camps is so easy even with our lousy DPS.
I think other professions can cap/flip towers and keeps solo.
Another one – http://youtu.be/X9952LpKEn0
You can go practise solo-flipping supply camps…
Well at least that’s one thing fun and challenging to do.

Would be great if you had a room (window) where people could see a list of parties forming up with required fractal levels. Players could create these party group for public/guild only/invite only etc.
E.g:
Lvl 6: 2/5 [Join]
Lvl 5: 4/5 [Join]
Lvl 3: 3/5 [Join]
Lvl 3: 2/5 [Join]
Lvl 1: 4/5 [Join]
Lvl 1: 3/5 [Join]
Yep! Looking forward to that. Hopefully that’ll change some opinions when they balance it out.
Claiming credibility via affiliation? =p Yes it true that rangers are not the best at any particular niche, but they are not kittened as most people’s opinions have expressed. It’s sad to see that whenever a new player comes to ask about the class, they get swamped with negative opinions. Perhaps all this bad press about rangers is the reason why my targets lay dead on the floor for so long wondering how they died to a kittened ranger.
Was actually thinking along the same line, but more of a pet passive ability. Probably wolves should have the ability to reveal thieves, other pets have some other ability to distinguish mesmer clones, etc
Sad too see so much negativity over rangers. My own experience with ranger has been great. Would usually finish off most players of other classes 1on1 in WvW except perhaps for mesmer and guardian. You may not consider RF+QZ burst damage, but just tell that to the many people I’ve put down… they might think otherwise.
If you’re asura race, you could even throw in a technobabble right at the start of the burst and imagine the frustration of your target =P also don’t forget a pet wolf which knocks them down occasionally.
Rangers are definately able to contribute alot in WvW, but as of now, with so much negativity going around. It’s severely underrated. Perhaps people just need to know how to play it well.
I think your definition of burst is different than others. Burst is a sudden spike in damage in a short time, usually followed by a longer cooldown. The point of burst in PvP is to counter HoT’s (heal over time) spells, as well as inducing a bit of panic into the opponent when they see their HP drop 75% etc etc Rangers don’t have anything remotely close to that. Rapid Fire shows the TOTAL damage of all the shots, it’s not the individual shot damage that you see on the screen being displayed.
Yes. Of course it’s total damage, that common knowledge too. You need to combine rapid fire with QZ on a full power-crit exotic geared ranger. Drops most players hp by 75%. If you stick in a hunters shot just before that, it ups the damage too. QZ will also carry over for a few shots after you swap to shortbow to finish them off.
We do have super burst damage. I thought that was common knowledge? We’re the most under-rated class in the game and for WvW. You need to know how to setup your gear, traits and skills right + practise dogfighting in-game. I’m running longbow + shortb kittenittenhoroughly enjoying it in WvW.
Would be great if the rare halloween mini (Chainsaw the Skele) came with chainsaw sound effects when it raises the saws.
Oh. The build queue is back! All items and upgrades accounted for. Thanks!
Graxth. Check your build queue. I think it wasn’t showing up properly just now.
