DPS meters are one of the best things to happen to the game. They let you see where you are and what to improve. They also make it easier for people to play with like-minded people, and to remove those who are just there to be carried. Too many people in gw2 want to get carried, it’s shameful.

Legendary WvW Armor crafting time

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

I’m not sure how to feel about the costs in time, they are kinda high. However, comparing it with raid armor is not actually quite accurate.

For raid armor LIs you literally need to be good and do your job, and the ten million billion threads on the forum with people complaining proves that it’s not as easy as it sounds; buying runs is an option I guess but it would cost I think in the hundreds of thousands of gold for 150 LIs…

For wvw tickets you just need to be in wvw and take something once in a while. It can be boring if you do not enjoy wvw, but it is stupid easy. Maybe the huge cost in tickets is there to balance the lack of relevant skill needed.

no more Ticket cap , i just got 14 tickets on the first Diamond Chest after finishing diamond tier.

This is unintended. There is supposed to be a weekly ticket cap and we will be fixing this.

Hey I don’t mind the weekly cap, but if you are gonna increase it midweek then let diamond repeatable give tickets until the cap is reached! There are many players who finished already and they are missing out. By playing so much already, they are the most dedicated, so to say. You are literally hurting the people who are most dedicated!

This game has ZERO monthly access fee, so I think some of you need to stop complaining about the $30 for an xpac (that took 2 years to create)…

It’s not the cash value that is the issue here, it’s the lack of consistency. When you say one thing and then do another… well… you know how that is.

Then again, they did not lie. They just used alternative facts.

Everyone should get the same pips for playing in wvw.

Wrong. People who are not participating or are doing so poorly should get less rewards. Veterans will always do better than newer players, for the same reason an experienced soldier with deployment, specialisations and training, will do better in war then a recruit fresh out of boot camp.

You don’t get legendary armor or legendary fractal back piece faster because you have been playing pve for 5 years.

Wrong. You get them a hell of a lot faster than new players because of various reasons, but mostly because you have the resources to craft them fast and the expertise to do the content faster and better than people who do not have your experience.

You don’t get the legendary spvp back piece faster because you are rank 80 and played spvp for 5 years.

Wrong. Having played a lot of pvp and therefore being better at PvP means more wins, which means getting it literally faster.

Sure hope they add exclusive stuff for “veteran” spvpers and pvers. But I bet they won’t.

Ahahahahahahaha, are you for real?! This game has been 95% PvE oriented since launch, almost everything in it is pve exclusive.

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkyFallsInThunder.8257

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

A lot of ppl get legendary armor with in mins of the update what next for them? Are they realty going to keep raiding even though they have the best gear in the game? Are raids going to be HoT only and the next expansion going to bring the next thing maybe dungeon will make a come back.

Gw2 is not a game for raiding yes you can have it in the game but there nothing to keep ppl running them once they get the best gear in the game.

As a raider who finished his legendary armor when the patch hit, I am really going to keep raiding. Why? Because I want all 3 armors, for one. I also enjoy the content, it is very satisfying to clear raids smoothly and some of the fights I really really like, especially Xera and Deimos. There are also skins to be had in raids and some of them are really really nice. I also enjoy the gamble of the exotic per kill; who knows, I might get even a pre some day. While raids aren’t really the top moneymaker, you do make some money especially if you have a group which runs smoothly. Not to mention the free ascended drops which are very nice, even though dwayna knows I’m way past the point of actively needing them.

So overall I will keep raiding, and I am sure I will even after I get all armors. Because the content is nice and tbh I can’t wait to see more raids. They have done a very good job of them IMO and their stories are very nice and very well-put. Rest in peace, friend, you have certainly earned it; you are finally free.

People keep saying raids require skill. I think it must be true… However, skill is NOT what defines raid difficulty.

- People whitout skill can still be carried. The mere fact that there is “selling” of raid completion is proof of this.

- Very skilled people are still unable to raid because factors not related to skill: access to 10 man groups; availability of long, uninterrupted, scheduled and frequent time periods for raiding; language and communication options; etc. Lots of skilled people are not being rewarded.

There goes the “reward for the skilled”. Change it for “reward for people with lots of time to play” and I’ll believe it.

I think a good argument is that “reward for the skilled” is missing the point of once you have it the legendary armor becomes a “handicap” set as in you do not need to be as good of a player when you have it on you just need to run the right “meta” build for the fight.

Real skill would be playing though fight with exotic of lower gear. That where attachment should be and less for ppl with high level gear (legendary being the highest.)

This is not true. If you raid for long enough to get the armor, I daresay you become good enough to play that content well by default. If you are not trying anymore, it will be apparent immediately and you will be out of the good groups.

As for me, personally, I enjoy striving to be better. Since DPS meters are legal, I can actually see how well I am performing and if I am doing better or worse than the others. And I always want to do better. Raiding with people who are better than you is, I think, preferable, because then you are always on your toes to improve and not seem the black sheep of the group, regardless of what gear you have. But the same is valid for raiding with people who are not as good as you, since you don’t want your numbers to drop to their level. All in all I think the DPS meters are a great way to improve the raiding experience.

Legendary is not the highest set of gear, it’s simply the most convenient. And ascended is easy to obtain these days.

Running the right meta build is not mandatory, again thanks to DPS meters: as long as you do your job and your numbers are good, people won’t care if you run the meta or some wacky build you made but which works.Sure there might be some kittens who complain even then, but I found through experience, to my surprise, that they are actually the ones getting kicked, because people generally preffer less drama like that…

And regarding the “not having enough time to raid even though I am skilled”, I call BS on that. I also didn’t have enough time to raid, but I decided I wanted it hard enough so I made time. I had to wake up at 3-4 in the morning on Mondays in order to participate in my guild’s raid training sessions, raid for 2-3 hours, then maybe get another hour of sleep and then go to work; I didn’t feel especially well on those Mondays, but I learned how to raid. I also had to cut on doing other stuff I enjoyed in the game so that I could raid more, again due to lack of time. And I did that as well, because I wanted it hard enough. So no, not having enough time is not an excuse; it just means you don’t want it hard enough. This in itself is not something bad, but it does mean that it’s not for you. So stop whining.

I am glad to see the sense of entitlement on these forums has remained the same since I last was here.

If you want the shiny, why don’t you do the thing that needs doing to get the shiny? How hard is this logic?

All this whining can be mostly paraphrased as WE HAVE DONE NOTHING AND WE ARE ALL OUT OF IDEAS. There are guilds teaching raids, there are teaching runs on the gorram lfg kitten … But why bother when it’s easier to come to the forums and whine and whine? Smh…

As for the screenshots, they are highly disappointing to me. I will have enough stuff to make one at release and another in a little while, but will probably be done for the stats swapping and runes thing, rather than the skins. Maybe the videos will be more convincing, but after seeing the one for the heavy armor, I sincerely doubt that. The movement of the armor is cool and all, but the skins are… just… so… disappointing…

At least I’m hoping for a new legendary weapon to come out next week…

Well it is. Maybe you’d have a better time if you stopped focusing on how things OUGHT to be versus how they are. If we get the map next to the name it’s a good thing but till then the problem exists between the keyboard and chair.

I have a screencap of it but it’s home and I am at the office now.

DH is too strong right now. To my shame(?) I am playing it now to finish those Capricorn achievements, E Z wins. Too bad most times it’s Coliseum, though.

As a clarification to some people in this thread, you do not need a “good team” to get the gift in ~8 hours, you just need to max your participation as fast as possible (cap camps sentries etc) and then run around and do stuff so it does not decrease. Once you max your participation, you get the same amount of participation points every 5 minutes regardless of what you do, as long as you do something. If you have no boosters, it takes about 8-9 hours. If you have XP boosters, it will take about 6 hours since they give 50% to the score you get every 5 mins, and if you have potions it will take even less. So stop your kittening.

A very easy way to getting some ascended trinkets is Bloodstone Fen. You can purchase ring, amulet and backpiece there for the map currency. It takes a while to farm but it’s super easy.

Be careful as rings are unique, even the Bloodstone Fen ones for some reason. So you can only wear one of each name. However, you can bypass this by having 2 rings of the same name and infusing/attuning one of them in the Mystic Forge; that way you can use both of them.

Another way to get rings (only) is through fractals. Aside from the rare drops from the daily chests, you can buy 1 ascended ring of your choosing for just 10 pristine fractal relics. You get 1 (or more, not sure) pristine fractal relic from each daily fractal chest, so in a few days you should have more than enough for 2 rings. Again, same thing as above, if you buy the same ring twice you need to either infuse or attune one of them.

But if you buy from fractals you can simply buy 2 different rings with the same stats, there are always 2 different rings with the same stats (for example: berserker rings are Ring of Red Death and Crystalline Band). Or you can buy one from fractals and one from Bloodstone Fen, the choice is yours. My recommendation would be to only buy the backpiece and maybe amulet from Bloodstone Fen – the amulet you really should buy with laurels, it’s only 20 laurels if you buy from WvW laurel vendor, who has all laurel prices discounted but you need to also spend a little WvW currency.

Ascended accesories (earrings) are best bought with guild commendations, which you get from doing guild missions. See wiki for details.

All the best!

Warrior or Thief ?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SkyFallsInThunder.8257

SkyFallsInThunder.8257

A lot of trolls in this thread, and a lot of vitriol against warriors. I guess some people need to make themselves appear better by making others appear less. Ah, well.

The 2 classes are fairly different and each has a different strong advantage: warrior can soak up damage and passively heal with signet, while the thief avoids taking damage by stealth, evading and throwing blinds. This does not mean that a warrior will not be melted down in seconds if he just stands idly by, positioning and evading are crucial. That last part mostly applies to HoT mobs, as the core ones have grown old and weak and barely scratch you regardless of the class you are playing.

Both classes have excellent mobility, the best in the game in fact, but I think the thief has a slight advantage here since he only needs shortbow+1 utility skill (shadowstep) to increase his speed, aside from his F1 which needs a target, while a warrior would have to run greatsword/sword+warhorn and have a dedicated utility skill for bull’s charge if he wants to keep up, thus sacrificing his second weaponset just for mobility and have no ranged damage.

Thief also benefits greatly from stealth and this can help A LOT in the open world with skill points and exploration.

In the end, my recommendation is to take both to 80+elite spec. Along the way you will maybe decide which one you like best.

But if you are just starting playing and find GW2’s combat system a bit odd, maybe warrior is a better first choice due to how forgiving it can be when you make mistakes.
