Equinox Solstice [TIME] is an semi-hardcore PvX guild formed on 18-February-2013, based in Crystal Desert that aims to foster interest in all aspect of the game (sPvP, WvWvW and PvE), seeking for players that are fun-loving, outgoing and self-motivated.

Within a short 3.5 months, [TIME] has become a fully upgraded guild which can be considered an significant progress.

In additional, the guild started out as an east and southeast asia regional guild but now has grown into an international guild with people from all around the world. We have a significant 24 hours coverage with the lowest number of members online at 25.

From the UTC +6 to +9 (Asia and partial Oceanic) timezone, we have players from Singapore , Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippine, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

We have players from NA and EU as well, finally forming a 24 hours coverage.

If you are interested in joining the guild, you can contact SkyShroud.2865 or you can visit Equinox Solstice’s Thread more info.

Alternatively, Crystal Desert has other international guilds in Crystal Desert. You can join Crystal Desert server and check it out.

Vote for Deletion!
Incoming Expansion

Long ago, not sure how long is that, maybe 2 years? A small group of players, including myself, advocate for something really simple and that is deletion of servers. We saw something many couldn’t and that is a inherent imbalance between servers, something that is pretty much impossible to fix without hurting everyone’s gameplay.

There was a few officers from some t1 wvw guilds opposing it greatly citing community reason but well, we all know that isn’t true since they always transfer around. However, many months down the road, those same officers asked for deletion. The reason being because the t1 servers they were in got affected by the imbalance. This make me realize one very important thing and that is unless the majority get affected by this imbalance, the majority will not care enough to know. In fact, they have no idea what is it all about. Realistically speaking, by the time for the silent majority to actually learn about what all these balancing about, the tiers would likely to be compressed to 2 by then which pretty much too late for any rectification.

Back then, I suggested deletion repeatedly over many threads and I am sure, really sure devs did read it because devs did drop hint that nuke is a option, with repeatedly nuking every few months. It was almost like what I suggested.

Of course, we all know linking is used in the end which I assume because is the least resistance change.

Still, months and years down the road, has the balancing improved? Not really. The only noticeable different is all of us get more people but imbalance still the same in ratio. Are people happy with the balancing? I don’t think so since we do have groups of guild leaders and officers across servers banding together talking about the imbalance. They plan to submit something concrete to the devs, honestly speaking, I have no idea how far they went since I stopped keeping up to the progress.

I personally wanted a more balance gamemode, I am not expecting perfection but at the very least, a fighting chance and not just a one sided gameplay. Unlike back then, now I have even better understanding of the servers and now thought up a slightly different approach.

Regardless, I ask of you all, do you all want balance or do you want to keep the current imbalance?

PS: I will talk about servers and the modified approach on the next two posts.

Support to take away Guild rep feature!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Repping is really just a hold-over from a bygone era. Players no longer contribute to the guild they’re representing in everyday play. They can only increase guild favor during guild missions. So, who cares what’s rep’ed on a daily basis, right?

There are some logical considerations…

  • If a player is not engaging with the guild or guild members much, she could be seen as uninterested in the welfare of the guild in general. Therefore, she could be asked to leave in favor of someone who’d be more invested in that guild.
  • If a guild is set up as an R-mode group and it’s not getting enough player support in R-mode then something should change; the guild may take in more R-mode style players to support itself and let go of those who primarily play other modes.
  • Some guilds want a player’s singular guild focus. These leaders are typically against multi-guilding in general. Know what the guild policies are going in.
  • Anet currently uses rep to determine use of guild hall and services. They may be able to make a work-around and give players full access to all halls they are members of. Or, this may be really tough to do and not worth their time.

Obviously, I don’t know what your friend’s background situation is but just because she left this partiuclar guild, doesn’t mean you can’t still play with her, join her in a chat room or even another guild. I hope she finds a more welcoming guild for her playstyle.

To explain this situation better, she is very active player who participate guild events on weekly basis. But she is in 2 guild that constantly demanding reping, she is force to give up one basically and now she is unable to participate in the guild events that we usually do togather if most of you see reping is a good feature i dont mind that, but a good suggestion of would be not let other see if you are reping or not on the guild panel. you know, that square thing next to your name to show your reping or not status.

No1 ask her to be in two guilds that has rep requirements. She made that choice herself, the guilds are upfront about their rep requirements. Rules are rules. In rome do as the romans do. It is childish to blame guilds for their rules and not blame the individual for joining two rep required guilds which obviously has conflict of interests. Obvious seed of drama.

I notice that the wintersday deco does not has a large snow pile to be used as a foundation which means we have to use the normal snow pile that is pretty small and if we have to lay a foundation using it, it will use a lot of objects and it seems rather ugly as well. It did be nice if you can add a large snow pile.

a lot of veteran players have quit the game, in my own guild, i have a few members who played 2 years+ quit the game just because of HOT.

the game is noticeably shrinking

the white knights will continue to say the game is fun and all but the reality is, it isn’t as fun as they think it is. the white knights argument is centered on HOT specified maps while players are not looking at just those maps, but the whole game itself.

anet need to look at the bigger picture and fix all the things and complete the incomplete contents

personally, im also looking out for new games

How server looks like!
In a nutshell

I am gonna explain for the benefits of the anyone that has no idea what the server really looks like using a simple diagram, diagram 1.

Despite having megaserver, it doesn’t change how the server looks like from a formal perspective.

We still have our main container where all the pvers, pvpers, wvwers chose the same server in. This main container is the server base population, all your pugs population come from there. This main container is a accumulation of players over the course of near 5 years. Can you imagine just how much accounts are in there?

Next we have the pump, basically the incentive to get people to play WvW. Initially is all about fun, then we have the reward patch.

Next is the wvw itself. Currently, the server status is not calculated base on that main container but rather wvw itself. It uses a population algorithm that calculate server status base on play hours. So, 500 people that play 1 hour theoretically same as 250 people that play 2 hours. At least I believe that is how it works but I am sure it has couple more math formula to improve the accuracy, still that is the gist of it.

Basically, that’s the entire makeup of a single server.

What happens if we put multiple the servers side by side? (Diagram 2)

I am sure you starting to see the differences.

Starting from the main containers. Why is the main containers so different from each other? Simply because the server status wasn’t calculated using wvw population at the start. Anet only change the algorithm 2 years ago. They only did that because DH and DB were full at that time due to their huge pve populations yet empty wvw populations. That is to say anet never gave a single thought about population imbalance since day 1. Still, why is base population different in so much? Another reason is because threshold for servers were not the same for all servers at the beginning as well. There were a number of times where anet repeatedly mentioned they raised t1 servers cap and likewise I am sure great deal of players prefer to choose a “Very High” server than a “Medium” server. The compounding effects resulted in the current base populations we have.

Moving on to WvW population. I am sure you will notice the differences, why are some server bigger than another yet lower in activity level? This is because of algorithm that calculate play hours so server 2 play longer hours than server 1. There are flaws accompanying this approach and the main flaw is if server one play an hour more, they may overwhelm server 2.

Moving on to the threshold. Now, unlike the past, we all share the same threshold, hurray! Still, it isn’t a good time to celebrate because the threshold is a fixed threshold and can only be adjusted by anet. It is the only logical conclusion of why some servers are full when they couldn’t match the coverage of some other servers. With this fixed threshold, we can all come to a conclusion that matchup can be unbalance. Let say server 5 fight against server 1.

Now, you might want to argue that they are in different tier but that’s not exactly it. We also have something called matchup algorithm that goes one up and one down. So, one of them will pit against server 1 and 2. Likewise, what if we don’t have 3 equal servers of equal strength? One of the servers will suffer in that matchup.

Then, we also have something called attrition. Guilds have to replace their players that went ianctive or quit somehow. For server 1, they could try their luck on their main container. How about server 6 though? Their main container pretty small so chance is that they will shrink to go below threshold, then recover to go up and locked. In this manner, they can never hope to handle server 1 or 2.

Next is we also have something I would call inflow of new players. New players have to choose servers. The obvious choice is server 3, it sound really alright. In reality, we have 24 NA servers and we have to spread new players over 24 NA servers. Do you really think gw2 is still popular like in the past to attract enough to spread 24 servers?

That is the simple explanations of the servers. There certainly more depths than that but this is the gist of it.

Yea, while it is a awesome thing for PvE, it creates a very strong segregation for WvW and PvE. It also does create a certain degree of confusion. So, if guilds are to recruit players from general PvE ground, guilds have to take extra care to recruit players or they might mess up their guilds.

there are a lot of raid guilds these days…for the only purpose of raiding

however, all those raid guilds need “raid leaders” and is hard to fill
furthermore, the leader of those raids guilds had to go extra mile to arrange people to different teams. people who might not keep their promise to participate on timely and regularly fashion. theres a lot of work here so you can imagine the number of people wanting to fill that role. lastly, there are a lot of people that think way too highly of themselves and look down on some raid guilds. be unappreciative and such…. so, all in all, rarely get any thing done.

to put it simple, the community is becoming more and more unfriendly for guilds to function.

Population balance (Yet another pop topic)

in WvW

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

The WvW populations did increase with the new reward system but the fundamental population issue still doesn’t change. The WvW populations is still unbalance.

We now have numerous servers full but how many of those full servers are truly equal to each other? Many are not.

For those who are new to WvW or the game itself, server status is calculated purely for WvW and not server as a whole. That is to say as long the algorithm determine that the wvw population for that server reach a certain threshold, it will make it full. This threshold is a fixed value, exceeding it a bit or exceeding it by large makes no different for the system.

One major flaw in this whole design is that it exclude potential population. This potential population is base on how big the server actually is as everyone has to choose a server right at the start. This also include accounts that went inactive and then return to the game.

Many servers went full after patch, reaching that threshold but it doesn’t necessary means that every server has the same base population because the algorithm doesn’t determine that. We currently facing the issue that some full servers are noticeably bigger than other full servers. Not only that, servers with high base population can continue to thrive with their untapped populations while servers with low base population will have their life slowly drained away, those who remembered the old DH and DB full status issue, those are fine examples.

WvW devs cannot keep ignoring the fundamental population problem. WvW devs should just blow everything up if unable to find any solution for it.

GW2 Deficient in Hardcore Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SkyShroud.2865

I believe Anet is focusing at having a good community, this can be shown on their strict enforcement rule on flaming related posts. Many times, competitive plays often turns sour and degrade the community. The stronger one gets, the more arrogance one may get thus more conflict arise. This always has an chain reactions and is not a good thing for the community.

Also, if “hardcore” items come into play, the skills aspect of the game will get dull and become a rush towards gears and that will be no different from any f2p games which build around high end upgraded gears.

Ascended gears does provide quite a bit of advantage and not just for pve means. Anyone with a full set of ascended gears and comparing it with exotic gears can easily spot the differences. You can live without it but you can do more with it.

Argh, OP idea of competitive is obviously different from the norm.

And that’s why all the salt. Sometimes changes are good. Old populations have to step down and let the young ones take over, it cannot always be old one’s game. But some are just willing to grip on with their last teeth and do whatever it takes to make the game as stale as possible and unchanged, when in reality, the majority of the population no longer wants it, it’s just the relics of the old ones.

Wow, just wow. You are trying to redefine the meaning of competitiveness, literally. It is like trying to change the meaning of eat to the same meaning as drink.

Do WvW devs listen?

in WvW

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

First, we need to look at the history of WvW and anet approach towards it.

2012 – Launch year

  • Removed Temple orb, a few months after launch, you can say they wasted time developing this.

2013

  • Culling removed
  • WvW rank & masteries added
  • Nerf AC damage
  • Bug fixes
  • OS removed from EBG to its own instance. I see this as initial development oversight
  • Stealth / Supply traps added
  • Siege blueprints became tradable
  • Replaced borderland center water area with bloodlust
  • Anet staff trolled gvg activity which reflect badly on anet and suggested anet disapproval of gvg activities. Anet added arena to OS a few months later which assumed to repair the damage.
  • First WvW tourny

2014

  • EOTM added which is said to be a year worth of development. It was meant as a side map for long queues but also mentioned as a place for new players to try out WvW. EOTM quickly drained a part of wvw populations due to its higher rewards. Short term benefit include less queues for the back then wvw regulars. Long term damage include wvw population drained.
  • Second & Third WvW tourny
  • Megaserver, server identity lost, recruitment is slightly more troublesome, asking for help in pve became pointless.
  • WXP became account bound (aka your wvw rank)
  • Siege disabler added
  • Banner no longer revive lords

2015

  • WvW maps removed from map completions, less reason for new players to try WvW.
  • Stability changed, greatly changed how WvW is played. For a short time, pirate meta completely tookover.
  • Golem event
  • AC now has line of sight
  • Anti-condi food nerfed
  • HOT launched
    • Desert map added, initially replaced the Alpine.
    • Shield generator added
    • WvW tactivator added
    • WvW claim buff revamped along with guild hall
    • WvW gear (from vendor) is now salvageable
    • EOTM rewards nerfed
    • Waypoints no longer open during contested (aka contested is now seamless)
    • T3 gate added
    • Squad UI
    • Adjusted WP position for desert map
    • Proofs of heroics for HOT stuffs

2016

  • PPK added
  • Can’t ress dead if combat
  • Rally reduced to 1 to 1
  • Oasis event in desert disabled
  • Updated WvW LFG
  • WvW linking added
    • Changed WvW population for host server from collective to subjective
  • WvW reward tracks added
  • New war score system
  • Improved squad UI
  • Team cross chat
  • Simple name tags
  • Polishing
    • Nerf some tactivators durations, cooldowns, effects
    • Proof of heroic now is token
    • Guild claim buff distanced affected in some places adjusted
    • Bugs fix
    • Bulk mystic forge for sieges upgrade
    • and more

Comparing to 2013 and 2014, WvW did have updates, not major updates but many polishing. However, anet did not address the things that really impact the players. To be fair, anet did do more for WvW than used to but it will take a lot more to make up for the time wasted and bad decisions made.

Experiences on two different server pairings

in WvW

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Fwiw, I don’t think anything can be done about stacking. That is something that Anet can not control, imo.

I don’t think so either, they can’t lock all the servers because then people will complain about not being able to transfer to friends and family on other servers. I’m sure they could look into heavy restrictions for transfers too, but that’s really a waste of time and money. Like I said there were servers that were stacked from the very beginning of the game, it was going to happen one way or another for a multiple server based system.

Completely agree. Have seen exactly the same sorts of things in other mmorpgs with wvw/rvr.

Nope. This kind of thing can be controlled and has been demonstrated in some old true PvP focused MMO. It cannot be 100% balance, that is for sure but the disparity can be greatly minimized to the point that match up variety will naturally occur due to it.

The current system works like this
There is a algorithm to determine the number of active WvW players.
There is a cap on the server, this cap is assumed to be fixed as it is historical observed to behave so and I read it somewhere that some T1 servers had higher than average cap before the revamped server status. Base on this, stacking and destacking easily occur whenever the cap is not reached.

What the really pvp focused MMO did is go a step further
They too have a algorithm to determine the number of active players.
Now, instead of a fixed cap, they calculate the disparity percentage of the fractions and close it if the disparity grew too big. This resulted a scenario where all fractions grow at the same rate. Since the population are rather comparable, a higher degree of population balance is achieved. At the same time, this system literally prevent large scale movement that involve multiple guilds intending to switch sides. If guild wars 2 use this approach, match up variety will likely increase due to closer population, people that complain server full status will know it will open when the disparity reduce.

However, like Xenesis said, there is a problem implementing this and that is 3 long years of stacking which means disparity can be really large and some servers will be locked for a long time. What I can suggest is in accompany with this approach, make 3 lowest populated servers completely free to encourage movement of players, quickly reducing the disparity gap.

However, before they can use this approach, they need to resolve the number of servers.

in Suggestions

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

It has been a while since the suggestions are posted and no updates regarding it. Reading through these posts and I decided to compile the likely features I think are really useful to guilds.

Join date
There might be guilds which uses this to keep track of rank promotions. Sometimes, is just isn’t nice to have members joined since day one and not getting their needed promotions cause of the massive number of members.

Last logon date
To sort out inactives easier

Message of the date
Pop up in the chat when you logon or when start representing. It is more user-friendly this way.

WvW claiming
Indicate the place the guild has claimed

Representation %
Representation is something really new to me, coming from a traditional mmorpg scene where members are naturally representing at all times. So, I personally think that having representation time (similar to server up time) shown in percentage is really nice to have.

Permission
Please split the “Invite” function from the “Admin lower rank”. This is extremely useful to new and big guilds. It also be nice if can breakdown the permissions of guild bank to items and gold.

Show name as ID ~Not part of guild management but more of user’s general guild UI~
A option to show name as ID, sometimes is easier to remember ID then remember the hundreds of different name for their different toons.

Henge of Denravi - Need More

in Looking for...

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Good day all,

As a leader of a large old PvX guild, I will not be telling you tall tales or half truth about what the server is or is not. Like how I want others to tell me genuine accurate things about the server we are going to, I will be honest about what HOD is currently so you as a leader or player will not feel cheated to come to Henge of Denravi, otherwise known as HODOR.

Coverage
Compared to all other lower tier host servers, we have off coverage and not just one single timezone but two to three timezones. Off coverage is very important for a stable server and not easy to obtain, we have it even though it is not comparable to T1 but it serve as a good foundation to raise up higher.

Population
Currently we are “High” population. Our weakest timezone is PST with very little population.

Fights environments
Guilds genuinely looking for fights, you definitely find it here. What other better place than a underdog host server? If you are a competitive guild, you will naturally be forced to get better to handle outnumber fights, I think it will fit well with the competitive nature.

Queues
We currently has at most 2 queues during reset, in the current linking. The queues rapidly dropped once past 11pm EST. Outside of reset, often EBG may not be queued during EST prime.

Community Events
On weekly basis, we have volunteers organising wvw theme. It is great for individuals who are just trying to have fun.

Community Teamspeaks
We uses teamspeak 3 so we do want everyone to use teamspeak 3 too.

Details about the timezones, what we need and not need

The current link, we have 2 map queues at best. We can accommodate 3 more guilds for this timing.

We definitely also need regular pugmanders who do enjoy pugmanding and don’t mind the hardwork to educate pugs on WvW.

We do not have any guild running at this hour thus we are looking for 2 guilds. Guilds looking for fight will surely find it here as you will have the entire timezone to yourself.

Pugmander that uses ts3 are definitely welcomed. This is our weakest timezone.

We have a ocx havoc / roaming guild but we often lose to servers with heavier ocx, especially SoS. Throughout our past links, there was only one time that this timing has extra help and that was with IOJ. In this link, there isn’t much additional OCX from the guest server. We definitely need 1 more ocx zerg guild.

We have 1 sea zerg guild at this timing that runs 3 times per week. Our pug population for this timing is rather low as well. We can accommodate another SEA guild easily.

We are very stable in this timezone, having enough guilds running at this timing. We do not need any more currently. Individuals looking to play at this timezone are welcome to come over.

Sometimes the early eu guilds will run slightly into CET but it will still ends around CET 10pm. So we do need at least 1 guild running at this timing. A pugmander too will helps a lot.

Proposal Overview
Mess mailing to members by ranks or to all.

Goal of Proposal
Some guilds might want to inform certain group of people that they are being kicked due to inactive, as a form of formality. Some leaders might want to communicate with their officers about certain plans. Etc Etc Etc. Allowing individuals who are given the rights to mess mail to communicate with the selected members of given ranks will provide greater reach in communication between selected ranks.

Proposal Functionality
An additional mailing communication tab in the guild tab or a revamp of existing mail system. An additional tab in the guild tab will be more logical than revamping the existing mail system since this functionality is related to the guild system.

There should be a new permission setting (in rank) on who are allowed to use the mail system. There should be a global limit on how many mail can be sent, for example, two mess mail per 5min.

Associated Risks
Abuse in mail form by irresponsible guild leaders, including gold sellers. Not a big risk, members can choose to stay there or leave it.

Same. I was told that you can wear outfit now, so I decided to look for ways to use individual town cloths but there is no option. In other words, there is no way for people to customize their town cloths with different parts.

Though I am not a cosmetic person, but I believe that people who enjoy those cosmetic products love the freedom to customize it.

F2P Is lacking

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Well, I’ve been apart of the game for quiet some time now, I just got my “faithful” title and I’ve been talking about how amazing the game is and how its now free for people to join! I had gotten a good friend of mine to join the game, and so far so good.

The thing is, the F2P mode is lacking so much content..if you’re gonna make the game free for new players why take out basic things that pretty much all F2P games have?

I get it, it used to be that you had to pay for the game to play it, and its got a LOT of content. But come on, map chat, trading in the market, messaging players items/gold. Seriously?

His own quote, “Feeling bullied into buying the expansion.” basically says it all. Its like in order to fully enjoy the game you have to ultimately buy it anyways.

This needs to change, I was extremely upset to hear him say that he might just drop the game because of this. Perhaps he’ll want to buy the game if the game showed more…content? He’s limited in certain aspects, and its completely unfair to new players. You want people to buy the expansion, don’t go and limit them to what they can do!

I dunno if I’m the only one with this opinion, but I am very disapointed.

Well, they are doing exactly what they suppose to do. The idea of F2P model here is for players to try the game, if they like it, they will buy it. It is like a trial account and like all trial accounts, there are limitations. If the limitations do not hold enough impacts, then, players won’t buy the products.

HOT is BETA

All of us paid for early access.

Why I say is alpha because they keep changing the features, like they have no idea what they really want guild wars 2 to be. Then, HOT come with all the feature changes and becoming more concrete of what guild wars 2 should be. However, it fills with bugs.

Alpha is the stage of features while beta is the stage of stress and bug fixing. So yea

Proposal Functionality
Under the guild window there would be a calendar tab with a plan blank calendar

  • ability to add events
    • date and time info along with ingame waypoint or poi
    • ability to have the event span across more than one day
    • ability to have events repeat like when make up guild missions take place ect.
  • rank options for who can add, remove, edit and view
  • option to be able to be mailed a summary (per player so if a player wants to opt out of it they can)
  • option to turn on anet events ( things like feature patch updates or pvp/wvw tournament starts)

Associated Risks

  • spam
  • inappropriate language or events added
  • conflicting events with other guilds (note that every guild would have there own and other guilds would not be able to see them unless you were a member of that guild)

In additional to what suggested.

Goal of Proposal

it is funny to see how OP trying so hard to the point of even using a draft metabattle build, a draft that no one is commenting on, a draft who we have no idea who the author is. it gets funnier when the others continue to comment that rune itself is fine on its own

that rune itself is impossible to get 33s resistance. even if you have 100% boon duration, it will only increase that resistance to 2s with 20s cool down. the organised groups are running a combinations of classes and utilities to maintain resistance uptime. that what it means to be organised, that what it means by unity is power.

i will say it once again, the rune is fine as it is like all others have mentioned.

not exactly the kind of deflation you are looking for

Transfers, Links, and Population Data

in WvW

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Yea, that’s what I wrote in my other thread. Make server non-mandatory and periodically purge accounts if they not wvwing. Problem is still that we don’t have enough off hours to spread out to 24 servers. Likewise, every server has different coverage which make balance via linking increasingly difficult and impossible to match. So, if we reduce the number of servers, we can consolidate the coverage into a fewer servers.

Right now this full threshold is just slowly draining everybody out, nothing but a slow death to everyone. Then for guilds that want to delay the slow death, they move off to a open server (using their hard earn cash) and only to continue to play under the coverage that impossible to solve with current servers. It is not fun.

PVE not competitive enough.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Argh, OP idea of competitive is obviously different from the norm.

And that’s why all the salt. Sometimes changes are good. Old populations have to step down and let the young ones take over, it cannot always be old one’s game. But some are just willing to grip on with their last teeth and do whatever it takes to make the game as stale as possible and unchanged, when in reality, the majority of the population no longer wants it, it’s just the relics of the old ones.

Wow, just wow. You are trying to redefine the meaning of competitiveness, literally. It is like trying to change the meaning of eat to the same meaning as drink.

In that statement, I did not once refer to competitiveness. I merely stated that the population is rigid and does not like sudden changes. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and trust that others may have good ideas too.

What? Isn’t the whole topic about competitiveness? I don’t know if I am confused or you do not know what you are talking about.

Equinox Solstice [TIME]
United We Stand, Divided We Fall
— Crystal Desert Server —
Site: http://www.gw2time.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/equinox.solstice/

Introduction
Equinox Solstice [TIME] is a singapore-based international PvX (all purpose) guild residing in Crystal Desert server and was established on 18th February 2013, with the aim of fostering interest in all aspects of the game, by creating a robust guild community. Through this robust guild community that we are trying to create, we hope to realise a guild where members will find themselves in a vibrant environment which allow you to reach out all forms of gameplay the game can provide.

We have 100+ active players from SEA and 100+ active players from NA/EU. We perform guild missions twice a week to minimize the number of members from being left out due to inconvenient timing. We also have guild buffs running 24 hours.

Guild’s Values
We have three simple yet profound values. We sincerely hope that all members and future members to achieve these values during their stay, we believe these values form the basis of what we called a guild.

  • Loyalty
  • Commitment
  • Selflessness (Guild before self)

Guild’s Views
[TIME] welcome all players of any levels and skills. We strongly believe that in an online gaming community, a good guild is one that does not discriminate against anyone regardless of religion, race, or the strength of your character. It is our hope to build a mature community where everyone will help each other, ignoring our differences in age, race, religion and culture.

[TIME] does not recruit players who are already in other guilds. We believe that this is a form of respect to other guilds and it is wrong to pull players from other guilds. [TIME] frowns upon and will refuse to help any guilds who attempts to recruit our guild members.

Requirements
100% Representation
There is no point in joining a guild if you do not want to represent. You might want to read the debates on this “thread” and that “thread” if you have bad impression of such rule. [TIME] is a main guild, a family, a community, not a side guild or a guild that provide certain services (WvW, Guild Mission, World Boss).

Active
We are looking for active players, players who logon regularly. If you are the type of players that logon when there is new living story or only able to logon once per month due to your extreme work schedules, please seek for a more casual guild. We do welcome students as students do play regularly for a certain period of time (holiday).

Forums
It is not mandatory to join the forums but our ranking structure has include this as part of the promotion criteria. Again, this is related to the three values. The forums also contain many useful information which otherwise difficult to search for on the internet if you have no idea what to search.

Teamspeak
It is not mandatory to install and join the Teamspeak 3 but members are strongly encouraged to use them during WvW, Guild Missions and PvP. The guild does not utilize the teamspeak as much otherwise since a significant number of members do not have mic and we want any form of social interactions to reach out to as many members as possible.

Joining the guild
If you wish to join the guild, simply drop me a mail and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

HoT Failures: Guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SkyShroud.2865

SkyShroud.2865

Hey,
The only incentive was skins and if you didn’t like the skin, well you didn’t have any reason to care about it.

You are playing the wrong game. And maybe with the wrong guild.

In my guild there are about 230 people, of which about 30-40 are pretty active, so business as usual.

We maxed out everything yesterday. World first. One of the world firsts at least.

Nobody ever demanded anything from any of us. Boss-man would update us on what was needed and each contributed however much they wanted. Then a couple of other guildies went crazy and decorated the place and now it looks awesome, I mean, we have a Chinese Garden kind of thing going (we call it “Beer Garden”), we have arcs, our guild initials on the walls, it’s awesome! We also had a jumping puzzle that led to a part of the map that wasn’t even finished by Anet, I spent maybe an hour just exploring that.

As for the raids – what exactly did you want? To shower you with money? You have legendary armor, you have skins and exclusive minnies to show off. If you want a gear treadmill, I suggest you play some other game. Because that’s not what GW2 is about.

The GH was not a resounding success, but it was NOT a failure.

I’m sorry, but I can’t help but feel your guild is not the common experience. We had people who donated and “went crazy”. However, that was maybe 1-5% of our guild population. Most of the population (despite being active and playing content) simply didn’t donate. Majority of them simply didn’t care because the rewards didn’t serve a purpose.

As for raids, yes I did. That is exactly what I expected. You have supposedly the hardest content in the game that not only requires 10 players, but is on a weekly cooldown. I expect some pretty good rewards.

Rewards have been an issue in this game since release. With the horizontal set up there’s little incentive to continue playing expansion content. So you have situations like we have now where HoT PvE zones have population issues where maybe one instance of each map completes the meta each rotation.

Guild Halls should’ve been areas where guilds were incentivized to play together. For example, they should have made decorations mainly bought with resonating crystals. These decoration merchants would come from all parts of the game and be hidden/locked behind certain events. Maybe you have to get to the end of a mini dungeon or jumping puzzle for a few. Maybe you have to complete a event chain in a zone. Open world content like that. To get resonating crystals, the main method would be from certain events. Completing events with guildies in your group or squad give you a medium to high chance of rewarding crystals. Completing dungeons and fractals with 3 or more guildies rewards you with crystals (with dungeons rewarding more then fractals). Taking WvW camps or doing guild team sPvP. All of these guild focused activities reward crystals that would be mainly used in decoration and upgrades.

There are a lot of areas where HoT didn’t deliver. You can see we’ve been bleeding players pretty fast. I mean just look at social medias. Reddit was getting 1200-1500 peak visitors and now its back down to pre expansion release levels. You don’t want your game returning to “normal” populations a mere 5 months after release. Especially for a f2p game.

First, no, rewards have never been an issue. Like I said, you seem to be playing the wrong game. 90% of the core GW2 players don’t want what you describe. We don’t want gear treadmill, we want new skins. I’m sorry, but what you say is a non-issue for most of us. Remember what happened when they added ascended items? Read my lips – nobody wants gear treadmill.

Second, that’s an issue your guild has. We wanted to have a cool place to meet up and we got that. The core of my guild is very tight, we help each other constantly, have a second guild so that people who can’t do GMs on Monday do them on Sunday (with a lot of people who have already done them helping out just because) and are always on TS. If your guildies are doing this just for the personal rewards, well, I already said it – you are in the wrong guild. And in the wrong game.

Third, I’ve been playing MMOs for 13 years. I’ve played maybe about a dozen, maybe more. So I can confidently say this – never in the history of the entire genre has there ever been an upward trend after the release of an expansion (maybe EvE? probably not though, and those aren’t paid). Reddit users going back down to pre-HoT levels when there is no big news around is not only expected, it’s perfectly fine. Your argumentation is ludicrous and based entirely on the idea that just because you don’t like something, nobody does and therefore the game is doing badly. Even though you have ZERO data to support this. Not to mention GW2 was DESIGNED to be the MMO you play, leave, then return, play again and leave. That’s the point of B2P for Christ’s sake. So please, don’t make kitten up about whether the game is doing well or not, because you have absolutely no idea. Neither does anyone on these forums, no matter how insightful they might fancy themselves

Not trying to defend him but, you claim 90% of the core players and mentioned zero data at latter part of the post, aren’t you contradicting yourself? Where did you obtain this 90% data?

You further claim he is ludicrous and he based entirely on the idea that just because he don’t like something but aren’t you doing it the same with that 90% thing?

Furthermore, you claimed to played 13 years worth of MMO, then claim if guildies are doing this just for rewards, he is in the wrong game or wrong guild but before that statement, you said you had a 2nd GM for those who missed it, doesn’t that imply people doing GM for personal rewards as well? So what are you trying to say?
