Exactly why should I buy Character Slots?

Multi accounts is superior in every way.

Untill you realize you need to buy another set of perma bank license, perma merchant license, perma trading post license, and more bank tab.

Seriously, there are 25 dungeon exp path. If you can complete all of them in a day all prop to you.

Seriously why would you buy all those things when you can just mail everything to your main account. 4x 5 slot bags and nothing else would do the trick.

Only permenant service that’s even slightly useful is perm hairkit btw.

Perm TP / Bank / merchant all accounts have at starts. It’s called que wvw walk a few steps then log out and in.

Multi accounts is superior in every way. The entire game being once per account per day is a bad idea. Even your point on the achievement chests it just means you get more of the gold rewards from them in the long run.

Especially with more time gated crafted ascendeds comings. A way to farm free of DR and numerous other benefits. Multi account is vastly superior to one account with multi characters.

Yeah to give champions loot not abuse system by sitting their 24 hours killing champions 24/7 , come on people …also don’t tell me you don’t do that cause alot of people don’t know what outside or sleep even is so.

Farming in a game where the only thing to do is farm or pvp at end game isn’t abuse. Farming with any methodology at all is abuse then?

You’re suggesting I sign in RP that certain factions I’m upset about go fight them and through that gameplay I get my “farming” rewards.

Don’t tell me it’s not a farm game either. I’m pushing 4000 hours played and havn’t farmed on my own 250 of each stack of T6.

To the poster below they have had the odds at 1/200 it’s in the 300$+ run to obtain a weapon skin on average which every rational person would agree is very unhealthy to encourage people to spend.

  • snip snip snip *

Four silver? Try nearly 50 from the repairs and 300 to buy gear just to do this.

I found it to be one of the more challenging and interesting fights in gw2 to date. It definitely takes more thought then most things. Perhaps the earlier tiers seem to be fine to thug but I don’t think you can say it is intended to be a stand in the middle and win fight. In fact the difficulty when you do the strats seem very intended and planed.

Yea it costs 4 silver to respec.

Spec should just be arbitrary hexagons arranged in an order that visually appeal to you the most of all possible arrangements of hexagons. Is that so? And should in no way effect your performance or be used in any many of thought or planning.

Really the whole game is already geared towards soldiers, and cleric. There’s no penalty for specing invincible full Defense anywhere except arah P4 at least the old version besides taking slightly longer to clear things. This is not true for zerking however because depending on skill level you could be penalized very hard in a lot of dungeons and content for it. (It’s a debate obviously, some people claim the entire game can be zerked others can’t handle any content in zerk. From my own experience the damage is not sustainable in some dungeons or situations in zerking without ideal group comp.)

have fully decked in Ascended with LEGENDARY weapons….

Legendary weapon’s have the same stats as exotic, doesn’t affect anything. Ascended gear is only a small boost and 3 of the pieces are obtainable without time gate. “Veteran Status” has no effect on this instance. Also any Legendary from pre February by my standards is a 90% chance at being a credit card legendary.

This is easily done in 4-5 attempts by any average player. By average I mean can manage to put on some thoughtful utilities and use them fairly responsively and have the ability to move their character as their mind intends it to for the most part. Ability below that I don’t think can access a lot of the content this game has to offer. I posted how to do it, people just keep complaining. Demanding every single instance involve smashing your keys and having an achievement toaster pop up seems pretty sad.

If we’re supposed to thug it out in the center or not it’s irrelevant as the strat it involves now is more interesting the most of gw2’s content and isn’t terribly hard. Zerking isn’t a social class IRL that you are only born into. It’s something easily achievable with a small amount of time and 4 silver to respec.

Well according to the new blog from colin, GW2 has sold around 3 millions copies. They would pretty much want 1/3 of them players to like on facebook.

But the hard truth is that mainly have left the game for better alternatives. I highly doubt they will reach the mile stone.

Truth is 2.5M still sign in every week and there are no better alternatives at all for MMO gaming atm and nothing on the horizon (unless you want to be that guy for the last 5 years that lists the names of 3 random MMO cash grab scams coming up like they will be the next big thing.).

Without having Asia’s market yet that’s actually getting very close to WoW’s Sub numbers considering that’s people actually signing in to the game in a week.

Most likely the issue is that people don’t want to associate their facebook with video games. Since potential employers or even rental agents, anything really will use it as a judge of character and video game playing is looked down on in society for the most part.

I made a Picture below to demonstrate our Duo strat that seemed effective and easy.

Important notes: The first spawn at camp B is always at 5:30. The first spawn at the middle camp is always at 3:00. Once the first comes you have a rough idea when to expect the rest.

We were able to complete both last night within 6 attempts each. It’s luck based on how hard the adds want to be on you. We used Potion of bandit slaying(?) (+8%dmg -8%dmg) and food. Neither of us were on a “main” like toon so we lacked deep experience in combat but were able to pull this off.

This strat should work with any class that can range solo one plunderer in a duo group without leaving the treeline. (don’t ever go past the treeline Camp A or the rock Camp B or adds get out of hand fast.) This strat doesn’t rely on stealth.

Full Zerk Warrior (Axe/Mace Rifle)
Full Zerk Thief (Dagger x2, Pistols x2)

Here is a picture strat guide of exactly what to do: The strat relies on 2 people each killing their own mob everytime and killing the middle mob later on when it’s convenient 1-2 times.

Yes, I absolutely have stopped and I had a large ambitious plan going. I was enjoying gathering up multiple stat sets and I’d say it was giving me a lot of versatility. I have a few mains which are pretty much done in 4-5 sets and am moving on to other alts to try out new builds and have various sets.

That’s come to a complete halt with this news. I’ve also stopped building celestial sets for double reasons, this and the fact that MF will be gone. Have no desire to make sets after this news as the sets are a min max game play and with them not being max in the long term it makes no sense to min max them.

And also if we were going to have era-appropriate swim wear it’d be something from medieval times, maybe up to the Renaissance since that seems to be the sort of era GW2 is set in.

Was going to say this is incorrect but then i remembered all the Industrialization through steam power, airships, holographic strippers, motorcycles, battle robots, and nuclear reactors that had common use throughout the medieval Renaissance and Dark Ages.

Can you honestly say that you will be getting less gold per day if you actually decided to run different dungeons instead of the same one over and over? What they’re nerfing are specific to the bosses, not to the dungeons themselves. They’re giving you incentive to run other dungeons.

Yes I can say that you will most likely get less gold per day because the gold reward will most likely as described be the sum of the boss drops in the dungeon currently hence back loaded once a day instead of front loaded as you go endless times. This equals the same gold as always once per day which is a farm nerf.

Anet also seems to design around an intended 1 gold per hour if you play standard farming so that’s most likely what it will be. (slightly more per hour if you get a decent drop every now and then)

demand for glacial lodestone is pretty low. Most recipes that uses it also uses corrupted lodestone which has a much higher demand due to corrupted weapons and other recipes. Anet has tried to balance it by adding recipes needing glacial and molten lodestone but those recipes haven’t become popular enough.

Also no one who has done the maths would farm fotm in any shape or form for money, the loot is that bad.

Glacial is tied to Corrupted on it’s main legendary Molten is tied to destroyer on it’s main legendary.

Glacial and Molten cores have similar price and quantities. Molten core’s primarily come from CoF farmers hence the crashed price this is also true for onyx (TA farmers) now why are there so many Glacial Cores?

Glacial to Molten have roughly the same demand. They are both used in 2 popular legendaries both used in a water weapon legendary. Molten core is also used in the warhorn which is one of the least popular of all.

Where do all the glacial cores come from then? Answer: players that have a far bigger impact on the economy then cof farmers ever had through non-legit methods.

(Also in the end I’m sure the exponentially biggest gold pump into the economy is just credit card gem > gold conversions.)

FoTM was solid gold when it first came out (not cof but close). It took a massive loot nerf around the same time they made agony on maw unavoidable.

and believe me, the w/m trend is not going to die, people that do cof will start doing hard dungeons, it will be bad at first but eventually we’ll start seeing arah full runs with a w/m party as a pug group

People farmed CoF because they are bad not because it is one of the highest, honest, gold per hour farms in the game.” You really have no grasp on things if you are going to accuse people efficiently farming of being bad. It sounds like some kind of jealousy issue to make broad accusations like that.

typical “Everyone who does thing more efficient than I am must be exploiting”

That’s not what he’s saying at all. There’s plenty of loop holes in GW2 that make a lot of it’s content vastly easier: look at FoTM and the ways people used to clear it. There’s also a ton of exploits that are regularly farmed that go way beyond what is allowed. Have you ever wondered why glacial cores / lodestones are so cheap and how are they being farmed so much to keep their price that low? They are quite a bit more farmed then cof’s molten variant.

They’re not nerfing any farming spots by giving you more gold from doing longer dungeons.

Actually they are nerfing every farm spot by taking the gold away from boss drops, and making it happen only once per day. Hence farming is nerfed.

They will take away all gold in the dungeon from bosses. Then they will give it to you once a day only at the end of the dungeon.

Whatever gold you will get per run will be roughly the same as you were getting before except you can only get it 1 time per day. Textbook farm nerf.

Used “bold” to mimic your informed point which you felt the need to highlight.

Unused Potential in the Open World

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Stego.3148

This is one of the reasons why I suggested instanced maps to be used in a vanquishing system. The open-world (referring to the huge amount of players who may come and go as they please) may be a great starting experience, but it has issues with things like replayability, challenge, co-operation, and your actions having significance or a lasting impact, which would very likely ruin any sort of vanquishing system.

If they made a mode where I could enter a solo instance of a zone and the difficulty was increased of all mobs and my objective was to clear it, here are my thoughts.

I would try to do everyzone and most likely have a lot of fun doing it.

There might be other things that were more fun they could implement however this would be more fun then any perm content they’ve made to date since launch, so I can say yea do it but make it hard. I want certain zones to be notorious and people come to the forums and cry but some keep practicing and eventually get it.

I definitely wouldn’t mind it and would have a fun time doing it. Seems like it would be easy-ish to implement. Certain classes might be OP and people would cry, not that I care. Adults crying that video games are to hard or not perfectly fair is quite sad imo.

If they could make a duo mode also (same thing with monsters twice as powerful as solo and separate achievements) then I would be double happy since I could do it with the GF.

I think it’s apparent you can’t design meaningful “open world” content that the entire zone participates in as the full spectrum of player ability, focus, level, equipment can access these. They can’t be strict on what merits as contribution either. For now open world content is piniata style. I enjoy the landscapes and environment in guild wars 2 very much. I would love more reason to be in them regardless if there was a zerg of people running around the zone while I am there or if I was all by myself.

The WvW achievement isn’t hard, it’s just a grind. You can get more kills on a level 2 staff guardian running around WvW with the zerg than a level 80 dagger thief accomplishing a lot more.

Achievement points are a grind mechanic, not a gameplay one. They don’t represent skill, accomplishment or anything else of objective value. All they represent is grind.

And another one unable to grasp basic logic. If a grind achievement gives 10 points for 5 minutes of work and another grind achievement gives 10 for days to months to years of work between each tier then the OP is allowed to post that it doesn’t make sense.

Thanks for your lecture on skill by the way wow man that was life altering.

The scary thing is 5 years ago video game forum boards seemed often void of logic but it keeps going further and has become so much worse. It’s shocking sometimes to see the struggle taking place and maintain some faith in people.

If it makes you guys feel any better though the Final Fantasy 14 beta forums are 100x worse then this. It’s truly unbelievable. When I’m there I basically picture mouths endlessly moving coming out of some kind of primordial sludge.

The 60-70 silver per hour (if you spend most of your time shuffling for loot bags instead of pvping) as well as enough tokens for a single piece in 1-3 days of playing most of the day certainly is banging rewards to warrant achievements that would take half a decade of non stop playing to achieve.

I’m totally fine with achievement points for Legendaries the way they are. I like the fact that they are pretty much limited to 5-10 per hit, but if achievements were serious it would be important to adjust the WvW ones they are obviously a bit broken.

Look at players like Colesy and tell me it doesn’t create an unhealthy dungeon community.
Forged in the fiery pits of the Citadel, these players have had all emotion removed. All humanity and sense of enjoyment has long since been consumed by the eternal flame. Now, all that remains is an empty husk that doesn’t even know what to do with all that gold anymore, but he must go on. He must become richer, For the glory of Gaheron!

I’ve regularly visited CoF’s on a warrior in warrior groups and on non warriors. I’ve made good friends and had fun in almost all of them. Whatever bad player hurt your feelings is just as common anywhere and people can be just as mean amongst “casuals” or “elitest”. In fact there are many casuals that think they are the most incredible thing to happen to video games and act mean themselves it goes both ways.

In a way having a basic understanding of mechanics and playing is a matter of respect for other people’s time. Some people feel obligated to preform better not to farm or boss people around but instead to carry their weight and not be a burden on people. In about half a year of lots of CoF I can say that there was plenty of nice people and the jerk to nice ratio was no different then anywhere else in any other player activity if anything the amount of pleasant interesting people seemed actually higher.

Here’s a sweeping generalization I can make like you. A lot of the time I get in groups with very obviously inexperienced bad players but they are in a guild group so they are a lot more arrogant and outgoing and abusive. This situation happens to me quite a lot.

You are being trolled. There’s no logic at all to the difference in achievement points. The person trying to say the rewards along the way compensate for the lack of achievement reward is experiencing an unfortunate logical breakdown.

Yes an insane amount of work gives you just as many achievements as a quick jumping puzzle. The entire WvW category is a bit off and it would take half a decade of non stop playing in wvw to finish for like 50-100 more achievement points total

Commit your life to 5 years of wvw or do a few dailies a couple days in a row you get the same achievement points for both of these two options.

I don’t mind the very high caps on these achievements but if they wanted to fix it all they would have to do is make it a repeatable achievement that gives you 5 achieve points every 1000 kills and cap it at 100,000 kills. (and a similar system for the other wvw categories.)

That being said it’s just achievement points but I think for the sake of polishing the game it’s pretty apparently needed to tighten up the WvW system. I think it would make it more appealing to everyone to have the WvW achievements a little more grounded in reality and participation would raise. If any of the titles were also remotely achievable without an insane commitment that would also encourage people, maybe tiered titles a little less epic then “Ultimate” whatever.

If dailys were not included they would be relatively easy to cap to max achievements after everyone spent a week sniping giants with a shield EXCEPT for WvW which people who invested half a decade living in WvW would wind up 10-20 achievement points ahead of everyone. In a full decade of living in WvW they would be 40 points ahead of everyone else. In the year 2150 one player would emerge with 10 more points and be the ultimate #1 GW2 achievement leader after taking stonemist 100,000 times.

I think HoM is fine it’s just achievements and respect for people who supported GW1. The world doesn’t care at all about your achievement point total.

Too much reward. Why bother trying to up the reward from every other source, be it other dungeons or running around Cursed Shore or slaying Dragons, to keep up with CoF1 when you can just cut it back here to have a similar ‘time to reward’ ratio as everything else?

It is a good starter dungeon, though TBH I preferred old AC for that as there was none of this elitism which is a bad first impression to make on the newfound dungeoneers.

CoF is an actual player of the games only way of making money to compete with certain aspects of gw2 which will never be balanced. Before CoF caught on everything was hopelessly out of reach of any player except a few segments which dominated the market.

These segments would be TP stock market mini game players, credit card purchasers, exploiters and botters.

You say you think CoF should be brought into line with other farming unfortunetly playing TP stock broker game, buying things with credit cards, exploiting mechanics and botting will never be brought into standard gold / hour and will dominate the market without standard game players having any opportunity to come close to their payoff without CoF.

Although I wish there were more opportunities then spamming CoF in the past. Arenanet’s visioned gold / hour that players should be able to make is not sufficient for anyone to compete with people that don’t play by the rules or those who just pump RL money into the game. CoF will be missed as with CoF gone so does opportunity and the ability for many players being able to achieve lots of ingame goals.

CoF spam might have been painful and alternatives would have been great but it was legit actual playing of the game within honest boundaries and video game work ethic.

As one last example would you rather a dungeon accessible to everyone through legit honest game play be a premier way of making gold to achieve things in game, or would you rather everything be out of reach to everyone except those who stock broker on the TP, and those who instaclear glitch through Geometry 3 paths in one go behind the scenes.

If I buy all my ascended for one stat set, that sat set is only good for one thing. I use different stats in different dungeons and in wvw and while farming. I use different weapons in different situations and I enjoy this and they need different stats.

That is your prerogative as the player. You can play the way you want, but the consequences are also yours. Just like you can order a well done steak, just don’t complain that it tastes like crap after you do.

If you could read you would have seen that I said having multiple sets isn’t sustainable with time gated ascended just as it isn’t with the amulet and earrings.

Well, considering that I am writing in a language, I would think that implies that I can read. Unless of course you’re suggesting that I am using some kind of software to turn speech into words.

And again: Using multiple sets of equipment is a choice you made. It’s not something the game forced on you. It’s not even something the game hints at being something you’re supposed to do.

Don’t appreciate you tearing my post down in multi quotes either.

It’s a stylistic choice. I could just as well abuse the everloving crap out of the numerated lists and chop out all of the irrelevant parts on your post. But that rises the chance of silly rebuttals about taking things out of context, so I prefer not to do that. Plus, editing your text is something you should do, not me.

You’re saying skills on weapons are bad because otherwise people will not know what to expect when they look at you in pvp from a distance? It’s 5 skills now, you want to do a scripted dance on 5 skills? that’s 2 more then rock paper scissors it has to be that simple before you start complaining that it will be far too many to react to or learn?

It might be 5 skills. I don’t care if it’s 1,857,333 skills, as long as I can tell, from your class and choice of weaponry, whether you’re going to use lots of CC, conditions, burst, direct damage, whether you’re going to spam me with blind or weakness.

Did you know it is your prerogative as the player to need to know what 5 moves your opponent can use on you before you engage? Maybe every player should have to submit a resume before they engage in pvp with you? Ignorance to any other person’s thoughts being only a personal agenda that shouldn’t be considered unless they are your own, not much of a point but thanks for the discussion.

Also FYI ability to write =/= reading comprehension.

Weapons are either built for condition or for direct damage generally. You are really going to tell me that’s a choice? If weapon choice is arbitrary and you are supposed to use whatever gear you wind up in for every weapon or just use one weapon then I certainly don’t think you can complain that you aren’t able to identify if you are going to be CC’d or not. What will it matter when you roll up to pvp in a condition spec with no condition damage?

Oh I forgot the part where you are a prophet in all nerfs/buffs changes in the future as well as any way your own gameplay might evolve. It’s all apparent for the one single gear set you’ve made so that’s fine as long as you can predict exactly what 5 moves your opponent is going to do to you in sPvP.

Pretty sure there was a point where Arrow Cart Mastery was considered OP. And the new supply-related abilities allow an organized group to build their siege at 5x the normal speed, which can mean the difference between wasted supply and a broken door.

The thing is, certain type of damage/certain playstyles being tied to specific weapons is kinda necessary with the fast-paced combat. You simply cannot sit around and wait for your opponent to take the initiative in combat just so that you can decide on your approach.

So where is it that having Exotics will make you fail? Because unless they ramp up the difficulty or you’re currently dying like a fly, it won’t change anything.

If I buy all my ascended for one stat set, that sat set is only good for one thing. I use different stats in different dungeons and in wvw and while farming. I use different weapons in different situations and I enjoy this and they need different stats.

If you could read you would have seen that I said having multiple sets isn’t sustainable with time gated ascended just as it isn’t with the amulet and earrings.

Don’t appreciate you tearing my post down in multi quotes either. I don’t care if arrow cart is OP, passive boosts aren’t skills as they were described. They don’t change anything overall currently they just force you to recatch up to be on par. Before everyone was just as effective with an arrow cart now you have to grind on a specific character to be on par with an arrow cart. Usually all that happens is now new people get yelled at by commanders lackies for using siege they are not speced into. By skills I would hopefully interpret that as new abilities hence adding options.

As of now I just use whatever weapon is the OP for my class and what I am doing on said class regardless of what the 5 narrow abilities make me do.

It’s really more about the journey then what class people want to perpetually farm on.

Actually, unless your definition of farming is “playing hard content or playing normal content with human beings as opposed to NPCs”, nothing in my previous post was about farming.

Again, often the “unique snowflakes” would simply not understand how weak their builds were when playing through easy content with heroes that made an eighth human player irrelevant. This doesn’t mean many builds weren’t very poor in PvE due to lack of balance, rather that large parts of the game were so easy that anything could play through them.

I understand your point, sorry for getting side tracked on my own rant. It makes sense what you are saying. So many skills only a few were relative and the difficulty of the game was forgiving to people that just speced whatever but there was a big difference between certain tested builds and everything else as well as random up and down nerfs.

I’m always surprised how companies have such a low response time on these things. If certain builds aren’t being played at all why not up their output slightly. I think D3 was attempting to do that by analyzing skills and how often they are used. D3 was the biggest disappointment int he last decade for me so I haven’t been following it and have no idea.

That being said if I wanted absolute balance I’d go play a more balanced game like, rock paper scissors, chess, checkers, coin toss and guess game. Pretty much any board game where you take turns starting.

MMO’s people crave variety and then get upset about it. Kind of silly if you ask me. They seem pretty much impossible to balance by nature of what people want them to have included.

Balance is an over used and hyped up term in MMOs. The entire game doesn’t need to be perfect math equal symmetry across all classes in all situations.

Imbalance is as bad in PvE as in PvP.

Look at the original Guild Wars:

1. Paragons were added to the game, were (rather obviously) overpowered since they were a profession with very strong defense that could provide the entire party with passive defensive effects, and were then nerfed into next to nothing. ArenaNet tried to fix them in PvE… By giving them access to two overpowered skills. Which means, other than the builds using specifically “There’s Nothing to Fear!” and “Save Yourselves!” (which for the records is a warrior skill), all Paragon builds are subpar. Can you still use those other builds to play through the game? Sure, you could just play it with seven characters instead of a full party. But you would still be subpar in your party.

2. Dervishes were introduced in the game as a very powerful profession, later nerfed to the point that they had little usefulness in PvP or in Hard Mode, and as such the profession was completely overhauled later on. Again, this overhaul was not only due to PvP, but also due to how the Dervish lacked an useful role in PvE content.

3. Ritualists were the kings of nerfs. They had multiple skill changes that basically removed any unique role the profession had, and due to never receiving the overhaul they needed, they were given in PvE a single overpowered skill so they would be accepted in parties, Signet of Spirits. The lack of balance made all other builds not only weaker, but also underpowered, PvE wise.

4. Speaking about giving an underpowered profession an overpowered skill so it would be accepted in parties, Shadow Form. Do I have to say anything else?

The “unique snowflakes” who liked the original Guild Wars either only played easy content, ignoring Hard Mode and the hardest dungeons, or were carried by the rest of their team. Due to the lack of balance, many professions had very few viable builds in PvE, despite the game having more than one thousand skills.

A lot of people approach MMO’s as feeling like they identify with only one class and any nerf or buff is offensive to them or others. A rather shallow way of looking at things. Some of them complain no matter how balanced or OP they are, a lot of it is mindset.

It’s really more about the journey then what class people want to perpetually farm on. If you play multiple classes and don’t identify with any as a personal matter you can have a lot more fun. If people want to farm at max efficient or have an advantage in pvp that’s their option. Note I did say attempted to be balanced within reason.

These are all responses to complaints of synthetic issues made the community who feels their characters need to be better or others weaker, or people just seeking the most efficient way to farm. My life will go on without knowing my warrior is doing absolute equal performance in every situation to every other class, could care less and I’m a competitive gamer. The more demands people put on “balance” the more uniqueness, fresh ideas, and fun are sacrificed sometimes for well called for benefits in “balancing” them but more often then not it just makes everything more boring and the same.

All the skill choices and combinations in GW1 is fun and one of the most interesting parts of the game.

Balance is an over used and hyped up term in MMOs. The entire game doesn’t need to be perfect math equal symmetry across all classes in all situations. As long as it’s within reason and attempted to be maintained I honestly don’t care. The only place I see it being important is in sPvP if they want to be an esport.

On that note they announced the new WvW skills in a similar way and they wound up being barely noticable passive bonuses. Hopefully we’ll get new abilities and skills specifically outside of utilities and focusing on the individual weapons abilities with new ones to swap in to bring the less used weapons into play.

I’d like to see them added to specific weapons to bring in the more underused weapons and stop each one from randomly being associated as condition vs crit. There is also the possibility for global utilities that all classes would get. This sounds less interesting if overplayed compared to individual weapons getting new switchable moves.

We’re nerfing the only way you can make reasonable gold in this game. We’re making all your gear you’ve earned in the last year trash, and you won’t be able to maintain any of the alts you leveled outside of one or two. We’re going to jack T6 mats up even higher in price and you should prob unburn on CoF path 1 and farm that relentlessly before we roll this out so you have some scraps of gold to start all your gear over from scratch.(even though that’s all you’ve been doing for the last 7 months.
-Summary of the rest of the update.

Hence this is possibly the most exciting thing to look forward too since this game’s launch. A majority of the article covered things that would make all the time we invested in the last year be reverted by making our gear obsolete so the rest is a bit disappointing. For example I have 10, 80s all geared. My warrior alone has knights, soldiers, 2 zerk sets, a cleric, and 2 knight pieces, 2 soldier pieces, 2 MF pieces, to swap into my Zerking set.

I don’t see set ups like this being sustainable at all with time gated crafting especially since I have similar set ups across all my alts. A majority of the article basically just says, “hey you’re going to have to start from scratch on all your sets with all your hard work made into 2nd rate gear.”

Oh yea, account bound Legendaries too so if all the new abilities can’t be balanced and I have time gated equipment capping me at gearing two mains per year (if i sign in 365 days a year), it will be too scary of a commitment tagging a legendary to any one specific character.

Late thought: More I think about it gated crafted Ascended would have a much better aceptance into the community I’d imagine if they were switchable like Legendaries will be. If a few new skills came out that favored certain builds or if any balancing happened it could waste huge amounts of time otherwise at the devs whim. People like to pretend “criting more” “or hitting harder but criting less” are play style options, I think people just want to be set up effectively and I’m not a prophet with what stats will be good in the future and I have no preference if I crit more to proc damage or my crits themselves do more damage or crits wasted and condition would do more damage.

Actually Rox quiver bow axe and hammer were all NOT listed as for a limited time only. They had no mention of this anywhere on the information.

The official patch notes for it said: You can now purchase Braham and Rox’s weapon skins in the Gem Store! Braham’s Mace and Shield and Rox’s Short Bow and Quiver are each available in the Style category for 600 gems. Apply each skin to any weapon of the same type to change its appearance. Skins can either be applied to a PvE item or added to your PvP locker for use in the Mists.

I just debunked the 1 ecto per item claim in my video near the end.

All rares were obtained from the daily bosses and Southsun Instigator farm for 5-29-13.

Rate nerf is still up in the air. But the claim that you can only salvage a possible of 1 ecto per rare now is wrong, proven at 1:02.

I debunked it in my own video but still both my samples of 166 and 77 show a .5~ with only one single double proc and no triple procs at all which used to be fairly common in salvage sessions. I’m fairly convinced something has changed with the procs but double procs can still happen only they seem a lot more rare now.

Aeon I’ll be expecting an apology, and I don’t recall asking for advice I’m offering information that I found and I think most people will find this relevant.

You’ll be waiting quite a while for someone to apologize for helping you bud, that is not the way the world works

If you don’t like having bad luck….I don’t know what to tell ya, it’s luck. The rest of us are fine on ectos, with several people in this thread alone reporting getting anywhere from .5-.9%.

You had a bad run, let some of that stress roll off like a duck, and not everyone is out to get you :P Some of us don’t want to see the price of Ectos shoot up because some random dude is speculating on the forums.

50% = 90% then? I offered my information if you want to troll me go ahead. Anyone salvaging CoF marks can expect only a .5~ return on ectos vs last week at .9~ and that’s concrete at this point I’d say. I’m out since the moderators arn’t feeling me and the community isn’t interested.

There is no problem with salvage or ectos, it is around 0.5 per.

/thread.

You sound uninformed can you not post here again? The normal rate is .9 not .5

I salvaged 166 cof helmets and didn’t get any more then1 per proc and others are having similar results since yesterday. The chances of this happening are ridiculously low if everything is the same. There are reports of multiple procs still going on also.

Just salvaged the rest of my CoF marks 77 helmets in total and received 38 ectos from it with 1 double proc.

77 Items
———————————

39 nothing

37 Single Procs

1 Double proc

38 ectos total out of 77 = .5~

this goes along with my previous sample that i started this thread off with 166 helmets and .5~% no double procs at all.

There is something up and i’d appreciate people back off a bit about concluding my thread without data.

There was no change.

Just salvaged 3 rares and got 3 ecto, 2 ecto, then 1 ecto… A very good result! But, aside from that proves beyond a doubt that there is no 1 ecto cap.

Indigo Sundown is indeed correct. The OP actually did better than average.

Please stop the conspiracies and not let market manipulators dupe you into artificially driving up demand from a false premise. If anything, the price of ectos should be going down right now due to the influx of even more rares into the system (new events just added all give rares).

I’m not a conspiracy theorist or a manipulator and i don’t appreciate your tone. I showed a large sample where i got 1 ecto everytime salvaging cof helmets.

I will try again tonight and expect an apology from you.

It’s possible this was an attempt at a CoF nerf and only affects dungeon bought rares or is based on the lvl of the item. But the odds of salvaging that many items and getting 1 on a 1/3 roll 80 times in a row is in my favor I’d say.

If there is a variability the only way we can find out anything is saying if you’ve got more then 1 ecto per salvage and also saying where the rare was from and what level it was at this point.

In an average distribution with a Master Kit you would get:

75% of rare items salved would yield 0 ecto.
25% would yield 1-3
Average of 1-3 = 1.5

100 items would yield: (.25*100) * 1.5 = 37 globs
166 items would yield: (.25*166) * 1.5 = 62 globs

Both the OP and Doomknight are above the curve.

To get a consistent average return of .9 per salvage, you would have to have a lot more than 25% of the items salvaged yielding globs, or you’d have to get an average of better than 3 on a 1-3 curve: (100*.25) * x = 90. x = 3.6 on that 1 in 4.

With only one ecto per salvage, 80/166 = .48 and change, well above the 25% chance the Master’s Kit provides. Likewise 42 out of 100.

I don’t know about the “only one” thing, but will report on it if I observe it (or the contrary). Hopefully it’s either a bug from the new patch or a run of “bad luck” which will self-correct over time. It doesn’t seem likely that a random number generator would generate a result of 1 on a 1-3 chance 80 times — but neither does it seem that getting a result of 1-25 on a 1-100 would come up more than 1 time in 4 consistently either.

Wrong, master kits are .9 overall ectos per salvage blt are 1.25. I have a 20,680 cof mark salvage video you can review where 20,000 marks = 633 ectos (that’s 689 items) which is around .9 and a pretty big sample size there’s also spreadsheets I can link which show .9 as the obvious number.

The 25% chance of rarer materials in the tooltip doesn’t refer to the ectos, it refers to things like Gossamer and orichalcum Ore ore. Ecto % is a hidden number not shown in the tooltip.

bad luck, I doubt it…they had to have nerfed it with people reporting .5 with large sample sizes

166 salvages is hardly a large sample size. A large sample size would be 500 or more.

If you are flipping a coin 150 times and it’s heads every time, I can say with very high confidence that both sides of the coin are heads. 500 flips aren’t needed for this kind of sample. I’d say 50-100 from a couple accounts would be enough to satisfy most people. This isn’t a study of the .5 rate but of only getting 1 ecto per proc.

I believe the previous .9 was tied purely to master salvage kits where as Black Lion Kits were around 1.25 before this nerf. I’d be curious to see if Black Lion Kits still maintain their 1.25 or if that was nerfed also.

It is most likely an attempt to make Black Lion kits more appealing I don’t see a reason anyone would purchase them currently as the cost to buy that many gems would be vastly higher then the profit you would make on ectos.

Ecto’s would have to vastly increase in value and the chance would have to raise much higher then 1.25 to come close to making it worth the conversion I think.

I just did 75 rares (level 68 or higher of course) and hit maybe 60% of that in ectos. Pre-patch I actually got 27 out of 25 rares. I’m using the master kit in all cases. I thought I was having just a run of bad luck.

Besides the overall percentage what’s most relevant is if anyone can get more then 1 ecto from salvage now.

That is quite the sample size. But I just last night of the 2 rares I salvaged, I got 3 on one and 1 on the other. That was last night though, it is possible this patch changed things.

I think it’s a sufficient size, and I do believe this wasn’t in place last week unless my records are off and judging by your salvaging data it most likely happened in the patch today.

Reviewed my records and last week I was achieving a .9~ salvage rate with multiple procs I believe so it wasn’t a patch months ago. Expect ecto prices to double I guess and rares to be 50% their current value?
