A few hours ago I was watching BG and TC scrimming and not caring at all about DB being in first. T1 is not balanced, it’s simply that they are letting DB win. This way DB gains Glicko and it will put the T1 wall back up for now.
Anecdotal evidence at its finest.
I can’t speak for BG but there are a significant number of people on TC that would prefer JQ over DB. You’ll find out why if you ever have to face kittenain now that they’ve absorbed a large amount of YB.
Edit: not sure why that is censored. :S seemingly innocuous.

The wvw footage is not even worth watching tbh. And, like one of the commenters, it needs some comms in it.
Come fight Mag. T1 is nothing special. Run a 10, 15, or 20-man if you want to be taken seriously. Not 6+ rows of players.
So what you’re saying is, you want them to run the same size as a mag “solo” roamer group.
Tarnished Coast.
Flamethrower autoattack skill that passes through gates.
How many engies run flamethrower in entire WvW NA and EU combined?
No seriously, please count them.
I’m sure that one hand missing 3 fingers will be enough.
Dont quite see this as an issue.
Lmao. Someone had to say it.

Wow the flat out lies from the BG players in this thread are unbelievable.
Neither tork or eN are sea guilds. The only sea guild that TC has running atm is hire, and they raid sporadically.
TC essentially (with a couple of exceptions) always ticks the lowest of the three servers on SEA regardless of which servers they are.
If your referring to my post above, notice I said “right now” I was commenting on TC’s groups that were out that day at the start of SEA and throughout the night because I was replying to another poster’s comment about the ppt score of a specific time of that day and mentioned what groups TC had out during that time and day. I was not calling TORK or eN SEA guilds.
No I would have quoted you if I was aiming that at you.

Nothing about this game mode is fair, but if you force another dbl rotation on the remaining players it will kill the game mode. Simple as that.

Pretty much what Choppy said, why the hell would you make a cross server WvW guild, when you KNEW that anet was going to re-work the links…. That logic…
^
anet never said the links were permanent and forming cross server guilds were a risk simply because of this.

So you basiclly say that the hardcore ppl on SFR need to stop playing cause otherwise our “population” wont go down? how do you fix a server that doesnt even have a q on friday night reset? You cant say with a straight face that SFR has more pop than deso has.
But yeah go on, encourage ppl bandwagoning to the deso-linked server again maybe you will learn next time.
The man with the numbers has spoken friend. Tis’ not his fault that SFR cant do the same as deso with equivalent numbers.

No.
We aren’t changing anything regarding the layout of the map.
Thank you so much !!! now you just need to remove the Tactivators because clearly nobody wants them.
Speak for yourself please.
Tobias, did you actually read the “5 things most wanted” thread?? There were alot of people who asked that the new gimmicks be removed or to revert to alpine pre HOT.
Yup I got an infraction for it iirc. Seriously idc how popular the view is, claiming to speak for other players is horsekitten.

Good, one of the few decent things that came for wvw with HOT. Amazed to see so many people want to reverse every single change thats come since launch. You kids do realize just how many people quit the game over that period because wvw remained 100% static for so long?
Tarnished Coast.
I am not really understanding your complaint, because you basically had a problem with a couple guilds coordinating an attack on your force, but then bragged when your side did the same thing. I don’t really see the issue tbh, we get hit sometimes by enemy blobs of 3-4 guilds, we adjust strategy.
The problem is that no BG guilds seek solo fights, and they actively seek to blob guilds down instead of seeking even engagements. That is problematic and not “fight” culture.
This is ironic coming from YB that does exactly the same thing all the time.
Funny story from ocx time last night. YB have a huge ‘voltron’ blob of all their ocx guilds plus a lot of NA playing late k training around the desert BLs. We (SoX) were defending BG fire keep with 15 in our squad compared to their 35-40. They put up trebs and catas on north wall. We put up a counter treb and catas and take their siege down and drive them off. Next thing we know our commander is getting angry whispers from YB about using siege when we outnumbered them. We were just laughing our kitten off in TS at their delusion.

problems solved
no need to type 100 paragraphsNo they won’t – many left before HOT when alpine BL was in play….. How soon we all forget…
QFT. The game mode bled players for years before hot, and that was at least partially due to those maps. The issue being the ones that stayed are the ones that liked it the most.

I suggest work towards rotating the maps, rather than flat our removing the new one. I really got sick of the old map after 2.9 years… The new map has its fair share of problems, but so did the old one.

I think WvW (large scale combat situations) actually requires HoT the least among all gamemodes to be effective, at least for several classes.
Traditional staff elementalist can still run fire/air/arcane or fire/water/arcane and have very good personal survivability with triple cantrips and Evasive Arcana even when running glassy to allow them to output very high DPS in addition to providing water fields, etc. and being able to blast them with earth dodge rolls. Overloads are often not easy to get off in large scale fights as you have to be closer to melee range and you’re very susceptible to being interrupted anyway. I personally prefer running a high DPS build (fire/air – bolt to the heart/arcane) in a large scale group fight setup. Tempest can be used for more organized group configurations utilizing aurashare with proper party compositions but certainly isnt’t a requirement to be useful as an ele, or even optimal in many group situations.
Zerk power wells backline Necro is still a very strong build and one I desire more, more often than not, than reapers. In this pirate ship/ranged meta the traditional backline necro with standard death shroud is more desirable than melee reapers and one I wish more necros still used. Necros are better as a backline class than in the frontline as reapers do not offer that much in terms of party boons or other utility. I’d rather guardians and warriors in my frontline, with zerk necros wrecking things with wells from afar.
A standard stance warrior build without berserker seems more optimal in the frontline to me than anything using the berserker line. A sword/warhorn + hammer warrior with warbanner using tactics/discipline/defense is perfect and adding berserker would actually make the build worse. Berserker is only really useful in niche backline gunflame builds mostly used for pinsniping.
A traditional frontline guardian build is still a solid choice, although for guardians the Dragonhunter line, it could be argued, does have a place in frontline builds as well as specific builds utilizing longbow for coordinated CC bursts.
Obviously roaming is a completely different story and the elite specializations certainly shine much more when building for 1v1 or small scale scenarios, but for general WvW large scale fights I would consider some core builds stronger and more meta than their elite counterparts as I outlined.
Bingo! Someone here actually understands wvw. This is your best answer so far op. Unless you roam, the classes listed above are 100% viable without HOT. Now having more choices is always better but honestly the players saying you can’t play the game mode properly without it have no idea what they’re talking about.
Base PU mes is still a pain in the backside to fight if you roam, but in general having HOT does matter more for that playstyle.
OP asked about (dis)advantage not viability.
And I answered. As did many others.
If you can’t read between the lines that’s your problem.

I played unranked today and stopped after my first 2 matches, Skyhammer and Skyhammer.
Waiting on ranked return just to avoid that map.

BG and JQ have concentrated in EBG cause they largely hate the desert BL, YB are not doing anything innovative just not concentrating on EB. Guilds on BG and JQ literally don’t care that it means they lose PPT. As for winning because of multiple commanders its actually more because you have a well known pugmander running a zerg long hours backcapping objectives constantly while BG and JQ are fighting in EB.
JQ hates the Borderlands…Yet we see SoX and Kill both spend their raid times attacking/defending borderland keeps!?
But yeah, you guys are all about the fights…well…fighting after you’ve pinned up, gathered a group that is at LEAST double the number of players YB has (30++ to deal with a 10man roaming group). Seems if you don’t have the numbers…one lost skirmish… and you run off the map, or camp siege in a keep until the map blob can back you up.
Whining about a server going for PPT when you ONLY fight with a map blob.
What confuses me is the fact that I rarely see the “Fight” servers (JQ & BG) ever fight each other in my game time.
Quote for absolute undeniable truth.

How about just having a focus group of 2 guys to take down the banner?
I have a minstrels guardian that would really love to see you snipe his turtle banner with anything less than 8-10 players.
Tarnished Coast.
Having played around with all three banners… Dragon banner is op and needs to go. I don’t know if a nerf would even fix it, the concept of a high dps aoe banner is stupid and should never have been implemented. Turtle banner needs a nerf, but is conceptionally sound. Maybe if it could be adjusted so it’s less effective the more targets it’s used on to discourage blobbing then it could be really good. Centaur banner is just… Anyone crying over that is a fool, it’s gimicky with one decent skill that isn’t worth losing access to your weapon set for.

While I get annoyed over people queuing as underpowered classes (especially if they switch over to one when one is already in the team) I would never block over it. I reserve my blocks for goldsellers.
"
it’s just a fact that certain classes or builds don’t work in the current meta and if I see a Necro, Thief or War on my team and the other team runs meta, I already say goodbye to a pip in my mind."What’s wrong with necro? I’ve won a game with three necros on my team (then again I had wins with two warriors so make of that what you will)
Nothing. 100% of that posts credibility was lost by putting necro in the same sentence as thief and warrior.

I like stronghold because #1 it’s closer to my preferred mode WvW. #2 I’m not a fan of bunker wars and stronghold allows many different comps to win.
I like WvW and stronghold is not really like it.
Bashing down defenceless doors, and killing npcs… Sounds like your typical sox wvw experience. I’m surprised you don’t love the gamemode.

As I pointed out in the other thread, I’m wondering why Sweet Bean Buns didn’t follow suit, as they still provide very large boosts.
I do think this is a good idea overall. 40% buff for well, almost anything, is just too much for a single consumable.
I was really happy about the changes to food reducing +/- to 20% instead of 40%.
Then I saw the Sweet Bean Buns, and now I’m really sad again. Why does this food have to exist? -40% condi duration was as detrimental to the game as +40%, as one just forces the other to have a fight that isn’t almost broken.
A hair’s breadth from being super happy with a change, and they leave this garbage in. I hope it gets changed.
Bean buns were a rare drop from a one off event. (Iirc) so don’t stress. The price of them is already nuts and it’s only going to get worse.

HoT seems more a DLC than true Expansion
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Tobias Steele.2071
kitten in FF14 Heavensward had much less content but people will try to spin the “it had 3 new classes and we only got 1” while ignoring the fact that not only does Rev alone have more skills than all three of those combined but we also got more skills on each of the elite specs than those entire new classes.
Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.
Also, those three classes and my especially my monk/ninja/warrior are far more complex than anything in GW2 and require much more skill to play effectively. Also, I don’t have to level (or do an annoying waypoint run on a new alt, this kitten should be account bound, seriously) everything again to play a new class on the same character.
Also, by the time Heavensward is over, it’ll have 3-4x more content that HoT will. They also use their older content much better as well.
You countered an objective argument with a highly subjective one.

Both classes are generally poor in pve, average in pvp and pretty strong/overpowered in wvw.
The HOT upgrades may change this of course.
Necro is easier to learn, and to play but has a slightly lower skill ceiling than Ranger imho.
Tarnished Coast.
They mentioned that they were looking into solutions after HoT.
Hopefully that means better rewards are in the works. Otherwise I see no reason to change the status quo. Two miserable bonus chests are not worth getting this upset about.

Terrible idea for trash mobs. May be some merit in using them on champs/legendary bosses.

The top six NA servers all do this.
I can count the number of times in the last 3 months I have seen Blackgate have siege in spawn on a single hand. And almost all instances were entirely in the week where they were in tier 2, and it was probably only because some on that server were seeing spawn trebs for the first time and thought it was a “neat trick” or whatever.
Doesn’t make it right but tbh it really only comes into play if you’ve virtually pushed them back to home map spawn anyway and as it’s the same for all servers it doesn’t provide a appreciable advantage to anyone.
For any server that uses spawn siege, that is 45 points per tick that the server does not really have to work for. No sane commander is going to babysit a structure for an eternity with its walls down to make sure the other server is not going to get those points, unless all the other maps have a queue and they already have everything else on the map.
People complain about the huge Glicko “walls” between some of the tiers, well those free 45 points per tick are propping some of the weaker servers up. It is how some servers can lose so fantastically when they get moved up to a higher tier for a week, and still gain a ton of rating. They still may have gained some rating even without those free points because of such a huge rating difference, but no where near as much. Same goes for the reverse when a server is moved down for a week, they lose a ton of rating because there are a potential 90 points per tick they have nearly zero chance of having for more than a tick or two even if they wanted.
BG hardly does it anymore and credit for that, but it was a real problem when Bishy was around. I would think that was within the last three months.
Tarnished Coast.
This funny comeing for commander on SOS when sos does it all the time like ever time you walk pass SOS garrison they have atleast four them ready to go for any one that touches there towers.

Funny enough at one point I believe Arenanet did actually fix the spawn treb locations but for whatever reason opened them up again.

Hopefully not. The crafting stations aren’t there for the convenience of PvE players. Nothing more frustrating than having 10+ players on the crafting stations when the map has a que.

what’s wrong with that? it means devs are actually playing WvW.. isnt that what we all want?
he could have gotten the guild catas from someone and he just threw it to see if the logo sticks to siege as well

Right click on their portrait and click block.
Go to block list right click on their account name and click (send message?)
Right click on their name and click unblock (don’t be one of those people that sends messages while having blocked or invis)
Go to private chat log and send message to the player.
Please be civil and respectful. I get about 50/50 nice to nasty message ratio. If it gets too toxic anet will likely close it.

Everyone should have the right to play as they wish so long as it remains within the laws of the game. If they’re minding their own business and not queuing your home map then leaving them alone is the best thing to do. If however they’re toxic, condescending, abusive or they queue the home map. There are certain things you can do…. cough treb cows from spawn cough

Thieves stealth compared to Mesmer is counterable enough though.
I’ve run into one trapper thief, who was just a troll. If you play D/P, obviously you can get blinded, but they have to leap finish or blast the smoke field to enter stealth, otherwise Refuge is so easy to spot aswell, Mesmers have much more ‘simpler’ access to stealth.
Lolwat?
Mesmer may be “simpler” because all its stealth come from button presses, but a thief has faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more control over stealth.
As late as yesterday I ended up in a “duel” with some thief (hammer of inquisition or whatever the guild was) with my MM necro and he literally popped up, hit me a couple times and was gone in a second. 5-10 secs later he repeated it. Repeat that for about 3 freakin minutes or so. The few moments he was visible I could hurt him at least a little, but of course most of the time he came back healed. As soon as I got him down a fair bit in health, he just doubled his time in stealth. Wasnt even a stealth trap build.
Even a full PU stealth Mesmer is nowhere near this. When all their stealth is on cd, its on cd period. At least you get openings.
But on the upside, the thief was one of the few that didnt run away from me as soon as they saw an enemy approaching. Oh the irony.
You know, an immobilize would have gave you victory.
Or you know, swapping to a viable build. When I see a mm necro in wvw I time myself to see how long they last. Very rarely goes for longer than 20-30 seconds so I’m not surprised he didn’t run.
Note: I also run a necro.

For Heart of Thorns, we are rebalancing the WvW Lifetime achievement requirements to much more reasonable numbers. At the same time we’ll also be updating many of their associated titles.
- We are not changing the Realm Avenger (“Ultimate Dominator”) achievement requirements or title, as some players have actually obtained it and it’s a bit of a status symbol.
- The “Yakslapper” title will remain, but the requirement is being reduced to 2500 yaks.
- As an example title change: “Ultimate Liberator” will become “Kingmaker”
I’ve seen a few people on reddit who claim to have achieved T4 or T5 of some of the achievements. I find this unlikely due to hypothetical times involved, but if it’s true I think you shouldn’t reduce the maximum number needed for each achievement below what people have already reached.
Reducing below current levels is very disrespectful and unnessesary as it’s clearly achievable at whatever level someone has already achieved.
I hope you guys learnt your lesson from the Fractured debacle, reducing players progress without even a slither of recognition isn’t the way to restructure a system.
Back when you guys capped the salvaging achievement, you left in the repeat counter. As someone who had over 10k AP taken away, that small mark of respect and consideration was amazing for me.
Someone posted 700k yak kills on reddit so it must be true right?
So in essence you propose anet make the yakslayer title 700k because one guy claims to have gotten that?
Get real.

Cmon Anet, at least call the new bug the “yaks bend siege tax” at least then it would be moderately funny.

ok, lets assume you’re not trolling (kittenumption) Would it not be better to wait for hot to see both how oceanic populations are affected as a whole, and if the guild hall battle area lives up to hype; rather than wasting all of our times now and potentially killing off what remains of Oceanic population in gw2.
First of all do you think I would go to all this effort to troll? Like seriously mate I wouldn’t waste my time. When is the actual HOT release date? Even so GvGs are great and all with the guild hall but I still believe that guilds will want to do open field fights. So wouldn’t it be better for us to create this tier. If it’s possible.
Do you actually want me to answer that?
That’s a good point and I certainly hope its true otherwise we would lose a lot of the best players in the game if they all stopped wvwing completely.
My last point is what happens if we commit to it and it fails. All the remaining servers that would still have ocx are full. So we could potentially get stuck in a low tier server without the ability to move back.
Tarnished Coast.
