No, I fully agree that risks should be mentioned and that flipping is certainly not the first advice to be given. Should I ever mention flipping as a gold earning possibility I will be sure to include that (if you check, I haven’t actually recommended anything here, just put in my two cents to the arguments below)
My real beef was just with the statement that a) people don’t want to stand at the tp to earn money and b) people who don’t flip yet and struggle to get money are incompetent for the tp and thus shouldn’t be told about flipping as a possibility. Both of which I don’t think to be true for everyone.
What I’m saying is you are telling people to spend their time staying in town, looking at spreadsheet, learning the market when they can spend their time “out side of town”. Maybe that’s what they rather do.
What I’m saying is not everyone want to spend their time doing flipping(which they might not enjoy).
Many people barely have time to play after work. I doubt they want to stay in town playing with the TP. Even if TP don’t take long for some, it still take “effort” to learn.
Sorry, but this is a bit of a useless argument. This is a thread about how to make gold. People suggest how to make gold. The TP is one way shown and saying “oh maybe they don’t want to do that” doesn’t do anything. Sure, maybe people don’t want to do flipping. But maybe they don’t want to do SW either. Or they don’t want to farm wood and the like. Maybe they simply want to known different ways of how to get money and do a little of everything. But the point is, that’s for the people to decide for THEMSELVES after seeing the possibilities. Not for someone else.
I have no problem with flipping or making gold.
You on the otherhand are not taking into consideration whom you are giving advice to.
If people were competent enough to flip for gold, they certainly would not be asking about how to make ends meet.
I stand by my statement, people interested in TP flipping will pick it up naturally. Suggesting it to casual or everyone is stupid.
You’re not exactly considering people either.
There are people who have no idea how flipping works or that it’s even a thing. I was among them. I only learned about it through the forums, read tips and tricks and other advice people gave and tried it out for myself. Sure, I’m nowhere near the level of Wanze or other trading moguls, but it helps me get a bit extra, so I can get some gems for gold or afford my next ascended armor.
So basically, it’s never a waste to suggest flipping. Whether the advised one can do it or not, is another question, but at least it’s not impossible.
To each their own. Why do others have to conform to your likes and dislikes? If you don’t like it, don’t wear it.
Also, why would wings as gliders be suddenly not as out of place as when you’re wearing them? If you say people don’t have wings in GW2 because it doesn’t fit, they shouldn’t have them magically appear for gliding either.
So they should say goodbye to their 12 PEGI rating so people can erp. Not likely, though I am surprised they have 12 to begin with considering how inappropriate some of the female attire is. If half naked erp’ing is your thing, more power to you, there are plenty of games that cater to that. Stop trying to make this one of those games.
If they haven’t lost the rating with the female armors, they won’t lose it with a little bare male chest. Western society shuns boobs more than it does the male torso. I mean, look at all the shirtless dudes in summer
I have two, a daredevil and a herald.
Motivation would be that the thief is my main anyway, so unlocking came naturally. And I tried out a revenant and really liked the play style, so that kinda became my second main.
My other charas I don’t play that often, so they’re taking a backseat on their elite specs.
I’m all onboard, too. Maybe not ridiculously skimpy but certainly not full on trenchcoat clad options would be nice.
Yeah, I’m kinda reserved about this as well until I see for myself if it’s going to be possible to get for me. It does look pretty though
Oh, I know that sentiment. It’s so close to the deposit all that I really have to watch that I don’t miss all the time
I don’t know, people, but if you don’t want to earn gold that way, simply DON’T earn gold that way. No need to bash people who use this method.
Personally, I admit that most of the time I’m too lazy to check all the different prices. I’ve dabbled a bit in trading before, but always rather small scale. Also, I’m a hoarder, so I don’t really want to part with any mats I find, unless I’m really drowning in them (looking at you, mithril!)

Neither armor nor color scheme appeal to me for no 1, so I’d have to say second one (I am pretty fond of everything black, so that might help
)
I had two last week in map chat in LA, but other than that it’s been quiet for a long time.
I extremely dislike the SW Legendaries. An entire week and only got the one at Red. Wo bored that I began to just park and wait for it. Now just gave up completely. Masteries shouldn’t have an RNG spawn timer….
I’d advise to do maps starting from very early stages and not ones at >70%. Afaik, on such maps there’s a much better chance to get a leg before the breach
Stupid question just in case, you have the exotic insignia, right?
Currently doing Going for Gold, and I feel you. I’m as bad as they come with JP and this makes me wanna tear my hair out. You really wanna grab a mesmer friend to do this with you. Also helpful is this thingie called Experimental Rifle, I got me a full stack before going in and it helped me in quite a few cases with managing to actually hit places to land on.
Doing the flax farm and mining my home instance is the only regular thing for me. Other than that, I do whatever I feel like doing that day. For the last week, that included running DS meta, collecting airship cargo in VB, doing the golden badges in SW, crafting another set of ascended, guild missions and accompanying a guildie through VB, world bosses or collecting materials. Sure, there are days when I don’t feel like doing anything, but more often than not I find something to do.
Yes, I’ve had that problems a few times myself. It is rather frustrating to finally get through the loading screen only to find that you’re lying around dead
re: I usually have blue and green luck in my inventory, as I only consume them when I have a full stack to save me an amount of clicking. – They recently added a “consume all” option to the right-click menu for essence of luck.(But only essence of luck, unfortunately.)
I know, but I still save up to a full stack. That way I don’t have to use many ‘consume all’ on smaller amounts like 20 or 30 every time I salvage stuff, but only once on the full stack.
Same as almost everyone, salvaging and harvesting tools and all different kinds of keys. Other than that, I usually have blue and green luck in my inventory, as I only consume them when I have a full stack to save me an amount of clicking.
I’m a bit surprised though that nobody said food and utility buffs yet? Currently I’m using all the stuff I got from Halloween.
I did have that problem in between, too. I reported via ticket and they told me they’d look into it, but to please keep sending bug reports ingame when I encounter that sort of thing again, which would give them better data to check. So if it happens again, I’d advise you do that too.
Maybe I missed something but blocking someone puts you as invisible to them. How can they still find you?
Yes you are missing something. Currently even if you block person he will still be able to see you online unless you go Invisible. And even after that he will still be able to stalk you through guild list (it will show location even thou your name will be greyed out).
The only thing that block currently does – prevents person from sending you in-game whispers. He still can harass you in say/map chat assuming stalker can get into the same map. He still can join your group from LFG etc etc. This is a very serious design flaw imo
1. Blocked accounts must not be able to see you online and your location/AP etc.
2. Blocked accounts must not be able to join your group from LFG.
I agree with you, however I have to point out that in most cases you won’t be in a guild with your stalker, so they couldn’t check on you there.
I also hope we get the afterparty and closure in a separate update, but it really, really should have been there right after we kill Mordy.
Only way to rectify this in my opinion is to have the closure to be the funeral of Eir, with emotions running from the loss of a dear friend and mentor, to the triumph of ridding the world of another Elder Dragon. Being a Norn funeral, there’s no problem mixing up the two in the same party.
So here’s hoping the next story patch brings tears of both loss and joy to our eyes.
You might want to put a spoiler warning into the thread titel or put that part into spoiler tags. From the titel people could assume that this is strictly about personal story and enter without caution, but it might spoil HoT story for them.
Could be, but to me the ending was more of a segue. Yes one thing ended but another thing began. The Arah was done with a complete stop in mind with the writing style.
I agree that it’s a transition into things to come, it’s just that after some parts of the story I wished I could get a bit more closure for them. It felt a bit abrupt. Even just a little cutscene with Braham would have been something. I assume we will get that closure in the next season, though, or at least I hope so.
For three years there were only posts about how horrible the finish to personal story was. It was not ‘epic’ it was not me me me being the center of attention. Now the violins and sugar comes out?
OP was more saying that despite not being ‘epic’ and not being about me me me, at least it had a nice ending. Which is more than HoT can offer. So no, the PS didn’t just magically get better, but we found a spot to appreciate in comparison to the end of HoT
Yeah, to actually read the names I’d have to extend the squad UI very far, so it’d take up a good chunk of my screen, obscuring the view. Ofc the smallest size doesn’t leave any room for name, but if hovering the mouse over a member could show the name, that’d be nice.
I’m not sure if it fits the 30min time window OP is describing, but in the silverwastes DR hits pretty fast I think. Or at least I’m getting less XP for the same events rather quickly. I often run supply between Red and Indigo, as such I do defense of both fortresses when they come up and sometimes hit the yellow bull on its way out, too. Usually when I have done an event about three times, XP rewards start to drop. Interesting part is, even when I’m at the point where I don’t get much XP anymore and I then do the rubble collecting for Red for the first time (usually don’t have time for that with the escort and all, so it’s not that regularly done by me), I get the full 18k XP again. So it kinda feels like a DR for specific events.
On the other hand, when nearing the end of DS with all its different quests, my XP drops as well. So there it’s like a non-event-specific DR.
Quick question, is it such a big problem if such an individual follows you when you have them blocked? In that case they’d maybe just be there and run circles around you, but wouldn’t be able to talk to you or anything. While in real life that would certainly be creepy, you could disregard that character as just one among many in a game. If the stalker can’t get a reaction they might get bored of it.
Obviously I haven’t been stalked before, so that might just be my naivety speaking. Otherwise the invisibility feature mentioned before might help.
It does give you a better chance at drops from monsters, not from chests afaik. Some say it works, some say it doesn’t matter, it’s always a bit subjective it seems.
I can only say for me, I did a few dragon’s stand runs with a lot of boosters for my masteries which also raised my not yet maxed magic find quite a bit and I found it was practically raining golden items and even a few exotics. Nothing mindblowing, but in comparison to how it’s going without it was definitely noticeable.
How was it hyped by Anet? All I’ve seen is two tweets about a gift in the gem-store. Who’s been going wild with speculations and hype about it is the players, not the company.
And I mean, it’s a gift. They didn’t have to give anything, but they did. You may not be happy with everything they do or the state of the game, but getting worked up over a little present is more than silly imho.
Ok, so this has been bugging me for quite a while now and I can’t figure it out at all, so I have to ask all of you:
What parts of the helmet do the three different dye channels change for the carapace/luminescent headgear? I’m wearing medium and I can’t see anything except one main color for the whole thing. I tried experimenting with clashing colors to better discern what changed, but nothing. I previewed the other two and had the same problem with the light, with the heavy I could at least see two different colors but not three.
I really like Rox, Braham and Taimi of DE2. Marjory and Kas are okay, but don’t leave that much of an impression for me. I really grew to like Canach over the course of HoT, but I’d say a lot of that stems from me being a sylvari player, which made interaction with him a lot more interesting.
Who you like is always different for everybody. I, for one, am more of a Rytlock fan. So it can’t really be based on that.
Also all this Trahearne hate… Sure, he was pretty pessimistic and kinda took away a bit of your role as the great big hero/leader, but that’s nothing to go all crazy about.
This morning I did Teq and didn’t get the end chest. I gave plenty of damage, I took plenty of damage, I ran back and defended the batteries when required, I saw the end chest spawn but could not interact with it. Not sure what more I could have done really. I think sometimes it just doesn’t tag you as involved.
Just checking, do you have the pact mastery for autoloot? That loots boss chests automatically so you can’t interact with it anymore.
I’ve seen someone say there might be a black friday sale, which should be this week (non-american, so I’m not sure)?
Tbh, I’ve run through for the story and a few hp along the way and then I’ve never been back. Like Zaoda said before, I got extremely frustrated navigating the map. There’s no visual clues whatsoever to know where you need to go to reach certain areas and constantly having to backtrack because you end up in a dead end or get yourself killed is quite frustrating.
Haven’t seen too many lfgs for this one either. Though, since raids came out I actually haven’t seen many for any of the maps, except AB. Somehow that one always seems to have people doing the meta.
Somehow I don’t think it was modified for the new maps. Every time I go play Dragon’s Stand I get less and less XP for events towards the end, so it doesn’t seem to be adjusted to at least not kick in for one play through of the meta.
Whoah, they’re gone?? I bought the gift of quartz just yesterday at a laurel vendor. Talk about timing…
I kinda liked the side by side cutscenes too, because I could see the characters in more detail. Now I’d have to zoom in and try to make sure I’m always looking at the character speaking right now to see those details.
The talk scenes now do feel more natural though, with everyone present in place and visible, not only the two people talking atm.
Storywise, I prefer the current developments. Can’t compare to LS1 however, since I missed that.
My main’s a daredevil and I absolutely love her. Having a lot of fun with my herald lately too, though
I don’t think anyone here mind that it can be a hard fight to deal with, i certainly don’t. What i do mind is having wipes because the game is not functioning as it is suppose to do. No jump, no updrafts, the rift out on the plain air not being able to interacti with it. Being one shotted in the air when you finally get both jump and updraft to work one time, it is just nerv breaking, and i am mostly a decent person that don’t swear much. But again, i was ready to throw the pc out the window. And i will for sure never ever replay it unless i get a clear message saying that i will only have to deal with the story and not the bugs.
Did you really get one shot in the air or did you get shot, drop down and then die immediately in the ground aoe? In the former case that would certainly be frustrating and you’re right, I can’t imagine that to be intended (though one could argue that to be part of the last boss challenge).
If it’s the second case however, I see that as working as planned, as hard content. I did the mission twice, first with my assassin-geared thief. Low hp led to me dying pretty much every time I got hit with a rock, b/c I couldn’t survive on the ground long enough to get to the next updraft (that was the chara I kept on destroying the armor on in all my attempts to get through the mission). After that I also took my revenant in pvt gear through the fight and I did not have any problems (other than taking longer due to lower dmg). Even if I was hit by a rock and got sent down to ground, my hp and armor allowed me to simply run up to the next updraft and get airborne again without getting killed. So in order to get through this, there’s being good/getting practise at dodging the rocks (or using a vine above to land as I’ve seen in a vid) or gearing up for survival. And that’s fine imho.
So yeah, I see the flying/rock section as part of the hard challenge which doesn’t really need to be changed, except of course all the bugs. I really do get the frustration you talk about though, I had to take breaks between all my attempts b/c I got riled up as well. It also helped that I had a guild mate I could cry to in between the attempts to vent a bit
Other than the obvious bugs, I think the last mission is mostly fine. I mean, it IS the big end battle, so it shouldn’t be too easy. The only problem I see is the boss vespers mentioned earlier, that is a really troublesome fellow when going in solo and with no possible stability.
For the updrafts I’d say it just needs practise (I completely destroyed my armor twice while going through this mission before I had enough experience to maneuver safely), but maybe it could be changed so the ground dmg starts a few secs after the updrafts spawn? That way you have time to locate them, head over and get into the air. As it is now, I always immediately run to the NPCs cuz I know by now there’s one spawning there.
No, I’m totally onboard with complaints about lack of choice. It would definitely be better to be able to choose again. What I was against was your suggestion to make the 5-spot trek harder by only including JP locations. As long as it’s a (forced) easy mission, I wouldn’t like that change (especially since I suck at jumping
)
I prefer the character birthday, it gives more birthdays to celebrate (and get gifts for
). But then again, I’m not the type to delete any character ever
What you’re suggesting is not a fix though. It is basically a punishment for people who decide to tag up to help. And that most certainly is NOT what anet intended with the tag.
Also, to not want to get something taken away is not entitlement, it’s perfectly normal (besides I don’t see anyone in this thread saying that). I’m sure you wouldn’t want to get your 50g taken away either. Same thing
For everyone being negative about the 5-point trek, it sure may be boring for you, but I wouldn’t like it changed. It’s an easy mission, so why should it be made harder? Also it’s a mission that’s possible for small guilds to run. Since they have it a bit harder under the new system to get favor, let them keep at least this little thing.
Afaik, you can only trade in quantities of 10,000s. Anything under and the vendor leaves
Honestly, I’d say it depends on how you feel. If you think you can’t get any fun out of playing the game anymore, take a break.
Since you are PvP/WvW mainly, can’t you get at least some fun out of the new borderlands or stronghold? Those are for all players if I recall correctly (PvE main here, so I’m not completely sure)
Tbh, I don’t even see this nerf? I ran supply between Red and Indigo yesterday and whenever I came along the yellow bull I helped at the first ambush and still got a reward. Mostly bronze or silver ofc, but still
Play through the personal story as either Order of Whispers or Durmand Priory and there is much fun to be had with Tybalt and his “lovely apples” or Sieran’s antics. Many quests that involve skritt are also pretty funny.
There is quite a bit of stuff to make you chuckle, but there is more “heavy” story now than back in GW1, so it might not feel like it that much.
The message in itself is already annoying, but what really irks me is when I HAVEN’T joined any parties and it happens. I mean, when I click ‘join’ in the lfg but don’t actually join b/c party filled up just this second or whatever, it somehow still counts for this limit.
