Do Dungeon Recipes still drop?

Young Somalia.1706

If you’ll die of boredom, why even want the recipes in the first place? Because you still need to do the dungeon to get the tokens to craft the item lol.

because have some dungeon recipe is easy way for get gold

btw yes the recipe still dropped (dropped plague recipe 2 week ago)

Huehuehue

The point is, if he’s going to die of boredom long before farming thousands of tokens, why want the recipe, when to craft the item you’ll end up farming thousands of tokens. Or was he just going to craft it once and be done with it? Then why want the recipe at all? (Freak RNG not included) It’s simply faster to farm 30 Laurels (3 weeks of dailies + monthly) for Ascended PVT amulet than it is to farm path four until the recipe drops.

Hell, for the 9g, you might as well just do the 3 Arah paths you’d need for the gift to craft the Fragment and just buy it instead (again, if he only desired a single one — unlikely).

Of course this is all totally irrelevant if he’s just a completionist or a collector of all things droppable. /shrug

Ranging is nothing but a handicap. You’d do yourself well to learn how to melee on any class; it’s vastly more effective and you won’t limit yourself in a group-content setting by being outside of the appropriate (see: short) range to benefit from other people’s buffs and combo fields.

Mini-dungeons

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Young Somalia.1706

Young Somalia.1706

One of the most fun things is mini-dungeons! While I’ve done most of them, only a couple are really formatted like an actual dungeon.

For instance, many areas classified as “mini-dungeons” just involve a chest hidden behind a couple veterans and other trash mobs, perhaps near a vista or in a hidden (small) cave.

On the other hand, there’s two that come to mind that have PUZZLES, EVENTS, and scaled-up VETERAN BOSSES. Vexa’s Lab and Foresaken Fortune are my two favorites, and the Ship of Sorrows to a lesser extent (no events, sort of maze-like however, but artifically tougher due to underwater+mob density).

What other mini-dungeons are just like Vexa’s Lab and Forsaken Fortune? I’d like to do a daily rotation of these because FUN.

Saved a pug or two in my day with Tremor + “Fear Me!” despite it being a massive (organized) speed group faux-pas (pug speed groups are top kek).

Falling straight down rather than in an arch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Young Somalia.1706

A) Make sure you have swiftness; air acceleration is vastly different with and without swiftness

B) Weapon swap out of your leap animation as close to the end as possible. Leap skills end with the animation which is basically a dead-stop.

Applying swiftness will allow you to keep (some) forward momentum while weapon swapping prevents the leap animation from completing, thus you continue to move forward as you fall, rather than stopping mid-air and resuming to move forward again, but only slightly (on account of swiftness)

This is one of my favorite mechanics in the game and I love leaping everywhere. I’ve basically resigned myself to warrior and guardian just for leaps (not sure about Engie, as far as LH Ele, you cannot swap out of a bundle in mid-air, rendering it quite ineffective).

Frustration with a new player

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Young Somalia.1706

I once tried to teach a newb.

He was a signet warrior who kept dying on a trash run. I told him to switch skills and weapond for all encounters, running, bosses, or trash.

He told me that it wasn’t that important, he wasn’t trying to be a pro, we should just do the dungeon properly (when he joined my teaching group), and promptly ragequit after dying twice.

Many of us have learned that some people, or mindsets, simply don’t want to be told how to play because ANet already told them they could play how they want. The players who want to invest in themselves will find the proper avenues to do so if they’re truly invested. OP is on the right track; check out the dungeon forums, YouTube videos, gw2dungeons.com, Guru, a mentoring guild etc.

Fractals, basically, which will be more or less depending on your personal reward level. The higher your level, the more karma you will receive for doing a fractal level(s) below that.

For instance, my PRL is 30 and running a 19 will reward around 8k karma (base, plus 15% amulet infusion, plus 5% account-wide, plus foods or banners; buffs will be different for you), as well as 79 Fractal Relics, and a Pristine Relic which can be converted into 15 regular relics (94 total).

Given that the vendor sells Shards for 15 relics each, a single level 19 run could earn me 10 Shards (with a fair amount of leftovers for the next time).

(94 relics / 15 = 6. …) + (>10k karma / 2100 = 4. …).

Saving gold to buy precursor off TP, but the price increase outpaced my saving. >_<

You play inefficiently, or not a lot. …Or are new?

I think Dusk has went up by ~300g since May, ~8 months. 300g can be quite reasonably generated in a month depending on what you do in-game. So what do you do while you play?

I recommend dungeons. (Especially if you have an active outside life; dungeons are steady, guaranteed revenue, even if you can only do two to three paths a day. For less than an hour of input, you still generate around ~6-7g; that ought to br plenty of income to keep the growth of Dusk from outpacing you.)

I can assure you I did not stay at 100% when any new PoIs or WPs were added, whether documented as zone- or world-completion. It reduced both tallies, on every occasion, to 99% each, at which point I’d touch the new map objective and return it to 100% without claiming a secondary reward (because I’d already been credited for 100% completion and distributed all respective rewards prior to re-attaining “100%”).

If this is not what you are talking about, I have no idea what you’re saying.

Young Somalia.1706

It’s not as simple as adding in a caveat so players who previously had 100% don’t get more Gifts of Exploration. All of that takes extra code which has to be put in game and has to be interpreted by the game.

I know something like that SEEMS really simple from the outside – but it’s a lot more complex. Because then every single time someone hits 100% the game is having to do a check – ‘have they had 100% before’. That’s unnecessary code.

They’ve already added at least ten new PoIs and a few waypoints for the releases of Guild missions and several LS installments. Each time, it lowered the area completion of the respective zone from 100% to 99%.

It’s already happened numerous times.

And the exact, current fix is for you to get your PoI, 100%, and no additional reward.

It hardly limits encounter. Do you know why? Because all forms of buff, cleanse, combo field, and finisher, have cooldowns; autoattacks don’t.

So you’re busy ensuring your escort has the swiftness to flee from his assailants (instead of just killing them), then what? Give him some prot? Then what? Cleanse him? I’ll give you three, maybe four GCDs that you’ll be supporting an NPC, and what else? Do you just hug him?

You have all the time in the world that you could be autoattacking as well. Just because support and control are aspects of the game, it does not dictate that you should tunnel-vision to support or control exclusively, because everyone has control, everyone has support, and everyone has damage.

So what’s your excuse for not actually contributing an offense when you’re not actually contributing a defense? Why have a PhD in giving escorts swiftness, but continue on by ignoring your weapon skills? It clearly doesn’t help you, or the people around you.

Or you need to work on your rotations and stop taking a day to fumble between utilities and weapon sets.

If your only contribution to an event or world boss is 200 damage autoattacks in exchange for scaling the enemy up, you probably shouldn’t get any loot.

Nothing you did was helpful.

Riiiiiight. Because there aren’t Guild events based around keeping one person carrying the McGuffin alive for 5 minutes while waves of monsters try to kill them. No one who spends the entire time keeping heals and perma-swiftness on them could possibly have contributed to the success of the mission as much as the person who killed one whole veteran out of 40.

ANet should be embarrassed how some of these events only count kills/damage done.

You know what prevents an escort from dying?

Because…

No, you do not. Your capacity to work for it is as much as anyone else’s, that’s all anyone “deserves”.

Nothing is stopping you from simply farming gold and BUYING all of the materials, at which point you press “craft” for 6 forms of Vision Crystal, and 1 more time each for 6 pieces of armor.

You want to kill things? HAM out. You are too stubborn to craft 12 things? You really don’t deserve anything.

And with that attitude it sounds more like I should be getting paid for playing this…

And too stubborn to craft 12 things? naw… too stubborn to craft 6 things, craft 12 more because I like a different color and then “ham out” currently about 32 gold more on top of it all for transmutation crystals because the first 6 were kinda ugly and the second 6 had to be 12 since weapon dye channels were put on permanent “we’re working on it” since betas…. oh yea, and i need to do this for 3 or 4 characters to make decent use of my new account bound fractal level.

Sorry, I’m not making an account full of legendaries, so shouldn’t be spending this kind of effort, gold and time on this mess just because I happen to enjoy more than 1 style of play in your super exclusive club.

So it’s too much work to do it for all of your characters, but you still want it for all of your characters? You have two choices, and it’s really not hard.

Even beyond that, Arah story still form every day, and numerous times. In a 4 hour window I’ll see at least 6 postings for it, and that’s just when I’m looking at the Arah tab.

Meanwhile, your stated, total reliance on Ele is because you and any other members of the party combined do not meet the DPS check to burn at least 2 of the Golems before a rotation of Feedback and/or Wall of Reflection/general projectile absorption all expire, and so the Ele would have to make up the lack of DPS for you with FGS Rush.

Start auto-running (NOT holding W, but actually bind a key to the function “auto-run”; mine is R) and, without holding any other keys, try swapping with your old weapon swap. Because if it works in that situation, it is 100% an issue of you having a cheap keyboard.

For instance, in GW1, I could move along pressing A+TAB+ALT+2 or 3, and those worked fine, but if I tried A+TAB+ALT+5, the 5 specifically didn’t work, because it was a cheap, non-mechanical keyboard. It also took me about 2 years to figure out it was that combination specifically (because it kept getting me killed when skill 5 refused to activate.

Th elitism of high-end dungeoneering, which I like, makes me feel bad when I pug, because I know it’s pretty much staple as a Warrior, for instance, to bring FGJ and Disc, or even both banners. But you know what? Some groups, that isn’t even an option, they’re so rancid.

Admittedly, I don’t know every tell, but im pretty solid for the important ones. But as an example, Champ Golem before Nokk on SE1. In my ideal situation, I wouldn’t even need to bring Balanced Stance, but more than BS, pugs are so terrible with pulls, reflects, Aegis, blind, add management, I nearly feel required to bring Balanced AND Endure Pain nearly every run. And the Golem trio? Well, while I may think stance dancing is fun and somewhat overpowered on it’s own, I shouldn’t have tobring Defiant, Endure, Balanced, every pug just to make sure one of the Golems will die before they wipe and I skirt away.

Pugs are pretty fun though, I guess I don’t really mind.
