Which will the 3rd dragon be?

I am a bit off the wall with my idea but here goes…… Have you ever wondered who Glint mated with in order to have the egg? What if, the next living story were to feature not one but two dragons…. the egg’s father arriving to protect it from Krakatorric? Our heroes first have to earn the trust of the father dragon before getting his help to take down Krak.

what I would love to see in the next living story is the re-emergance of Cantha or Elona.

For a game that "isn't grindy"...

Me personally, I have absolutely no desire to grind for legendaries. I simply do not like how any of those look and the stat improvements aren’t really that great for pve. I find that unless you are heavily into fractals, players can do just fine with most of the current content with exotic gear and a few ascended jewelry. Only reason I made an ascended weapon was because…that particular bow I liked the skin. My main complaint is the grind for mastery. I think it long and boring and inhibits the joy of game play. So i stopped giving myself and ulcer trying to get those masteries and just played the game. I still hate how glide dependant HoT is but it is what it is.

At one time I was like some players whom feel the game is too grindy. Then I stopped obesssing over grinding and the fun of gameplay came back.

Post-Beta Druid is Useless

in Ranger

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

Myself and my guild mates will be the first to admit…I stink as a healer. I was awful at it in GW1 so even with the new druid specialization here, don’t expect miracles. With that said, I don’t think its so much the Druid is broken but its a totally different type of gameplay for rangers and therefore not readily accepted by traditional ranger players. I personally do not understand all the functions of the druid and hate feeling like I have been handed a gun and told to fight and no instructions on how to put the bullets in it. I think what is turning some players off the druid is the lack of how to use the skills. As we level up to 80, new skills are unlocked, and we learn to use them. With the druid, you are given a staff and shoved out into the jungle with no real learning phase. I know I will eventually figure it out but right now, I have to really concentrate on masteries. Yup too much to learn all at once for my old brain.

that happened to me once when I swam out too far and kept hitting the “currents”. after about three times it punt kicked me back to shore in another instance. This past Halloween, I went to open the door in Lions Arch to go to the mad king’s realm and I kid you not, he appeared at the door and next thing I know im laying on the ground half across lions arch!! I wish I had screenshotted that. Now that I think of it, I think the Devs just like to mess with my characters.

Highly disappointing decorations

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I do agree that the scribing system is somewhat out of whack. I have been a crafter in many games, including Star Wars Galaxies which had a pretty good building and decorating aspect. I wasn’t fond of the gameplay itself but, as a crafter at heart, I did love that aspect. With that in mind, I can tell you from experience that any game that allows players to have a guild hall, housing or build things like furniture, never releases that part of the game with tons of content. When SWG was still kicking, there were only three types of chairs, about the same number of tables and a few outfits for each profession. Within a year, this had more than quadroupled. What I am saying is, what we are seeing as far as Guild Hall content is not it. Once the dust settles on all the patches and HoT content fixes, the developers can focus on making content to turn guild halls into guild homes. For all we know, there could already be furniture reciepes out there that are yet to be discovered. Just give it some time, enjoy the game….the content will come

Long story short, I had to reset my computer to factory default. I have made triple sure that all my drivers including the BIOS, graphics and sound are all the latest for their respective models. My problem is when I try downloading GW2, it starts off with great speed then bottoms out to zero, after a bit it picks back up, drops to zero, gives me the “Connection to server …retrying” error, I leave it alone and it will start downloading again but..goes immediately back to the good speed for about two minutes then bottoms out. I have had no other download, including other games, that do this. So this seems to be isolated to just GW2. It has taken 5 hours to get 18% of the game downloaded.

So, anyone have an idea of whats causing this and how to fix it? Keep in mind I have a intermediate level of computers.

Vista themed expansion

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

I understand how the orignial poster feels. I have played Guild Wars since the early days of beta for guild wars propheses. I have loved the whole series not just for the graphics and ease of play, but for the attention it pays to the casual player as well as the hard core. When GW2 came out and the vistas and jumping puzzles were introduced, I was a bit taken back. I have a physical issue that interfers with the movment of my hands. Sometimes I am fine other times not so fine. Since vistas and jumping puzzles werent a game breaker, I was ok skipping the majority of them. But with HoT, you HAVE to do jumping puzzle and vistas to progress your character. The time involved is discouraging for the causal player and the puzzles and vistas are a nightmare. HoT is way to heavy on puzzles, vistas and grind. For this…I regret buying the expansion. At this point, i dont know if i will bother with the mastery system since points are dependant on the vistas.

Is this game grindier than WoW?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

Ive played games like WoW, Lineage, Lineage2, EVE Online, SWToR, SWG, Everquest and a few whose names escape me right now. I know what grind is. ALL online games have a grind element. It keeps players playing longer which equals potential revenue for the developers. In GW1, if you made it to certain places in the game, and got a “runner” to take you to where max armor was, you could poteniallly be a level 5 with max armor. Grind was pretty much only somewhat in the underworld in order to gain what was needed for Obsidian armor whose only advantage was it looked different from other max level armor.

With that said, GW2 does possess a higher level of grind than we experienced in GW1. I hate grind, but its a mechanic in just about all great MMO’s. As gamers we just have to accept that.

As for HoT grind, I do feel the mastery system is too skewered. To gain the mastery, you end up having to do a rather boring amount of grind. For Tyrian masteries, for people who have characters that have been here since the launch of GW2, I feel they are at a huge disadvantage because of the grind requirement. Myself, I get bored after an hour of running around Orr killing everhyting red. For the new HoT areas, the grind just sucks the life out of the storyline for me.

My solution: I jumped off the mindless grind train. I play the game, emerse myself in the story and work on living stories for my level 80’s and tyria for my under 80’s. I really dont care for the mastery system’s clunky feel so rather than let it ruin my game, I exited the train and am taking the scenic country back roads, and enjoyingmyself.

halloween weapons 2 BL Tickets??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

Usually when a weapon skin is the feature , it costs 1 black lion ticket per skin. So when it was anounced the halloween skins were back, I went to get one and found out they are 2 tickets instead of the usual feature skin price of 1 ticket. Now if they were new designs I might understand the cost increase but these are last years designs. So I cant figure out why the increase now.

gem bought skins

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

now I do like the option of the wardrobe and I do occasionally buy armor skins with gems ….and its not been without a few regrets. Im not fond of the transmutation charge. If you bought the armor skin with gems or earned it ingame, I don’t think we should have to buy transmutation charges to change into those skins. To me its like buying a sweater at the store then every time you wanna wear it, you have to pay the store again.

I do like the preview of skins and outfits before you buy them but..for some reason when I got the outfit that looks like its from cantha, in preview it looked nice but when I put it on the same character I did the preview on, it makes her legs look like sticks and made her look flat chested. I tried it on other characters with same effect..least thatgs how it looks to me. really disappointed in that one.

On a good note though I love the lich , was always one of my favs from gw1.

Ok done with my rant tonight

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

I do agree that the living world just dont feel epic. I also have an issue with most of them being dungeon based. Living world events should allow ALL players to particpate and not feel exc;luded because either (a) not high enough level to really run a dungeon, (b) not high enough to get into groups which tend to exclude players not level 80, © or the event is too heavily dependant upon dungeons to complete. I know I am not alone in my distain against gw2 dungeons.

Really don't like these deadlines

in Flame and Frost

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

Ok if this is a “living story” why are there deadlines? Those of us whom cannot be on every night or due to work schedules can only play on weekeneds really get left out. I know I am not alone in saying that I am yet to be able to finish one of the living story or events lines.

I dont like being forced into dungeon groups when all the rest of the storylines were not forced groups.

In all honesty.. as much as I loved guild wars and liked guild wars 2 at the beginning…i am really not liking how the storylines and forced groupings are being pushed on us.

Anyhow I know I am about to get jumped all over for stating this but its my opinion and i also know that i seriously doubt Anet will give my opinion a second thought. But before anyone rips into me give me a moment to put on my armor and flame proof longjohns and remember..everyone is entitled to how they feel.

Diappointment

in Wintersday

Posted by: bjwhiteda.7645

bjwhiteda.7645

I am greatly disappointed in GW2 Wintersday. No missions for thos of us whom do not like being forced into groups for a dungeon. Where is the fun from GW1? To me thsi is a full disaster…content is buggy, the dungeon i did try… the progress bar froze and it ened up being nothing but a waste of time.

Im gonna go to GW1 and do wintersday where it was alot more fun
