will probably choose tempest due to kittenty air tree, kittenty utilities and kittenty elites in core profession. hopefully tempest will have useful traits utilities and elite

anyone know piercing shards’ vuln duration increase? 100%? 50%? 10%?
also they should remove water attunement requirement for damage increase for piercing shards. its stupid as hell, imagine bolt to the heart only worked while you’re in air attunement, burning precision only worked in fire attunement.
if its bolt to the HEART, the hp threshold must be set low.. executioner and close to death are effectively 10% modifiers. to keep bolt to the heart as 10% modifier and below 33% health, bonus damage must be 30% extra damage to foes below 33% health
is lightning storm really worth the slot?
it has a huge kitten cooldown and vuln is halved on bosses
the reason i asked this is because a few days ago i joined a zerk speedrun with meta builds requirement. another ele saw me use signet of fire and said “meta builds do not use signet of fire” and left the group. is it such a huge loss to use signet of fire over lightning storm? staff user btw

I can’t give you the best, because for open world, “best” is subjective to ones personal taste. I can, however, give you a meta build that works for everything PVE.
Its a staff build. This is the second highest DPS an elementalist can achieve. The highest DPS build requires a lot more effort, and revolves around stacking might and spamming lightning hammer 1 over and over. Its boring. This build, however, is very close behind the lightning hammer build, and its a lot more fun and interactive, at least in my opinion.
I will state up front that some of the runes/sigils in this build are a bit expensive. Especially runes of strength. Because I’m poor as hell and can’t afford runes of strength, I use Ruby Orbs. Instead of using sigils of force and accuracy, you can use sigils of fire and air. They’re cheap and work well. They also fit the theme of elementalists if you like that sort of thing.
This video will explain how to use the build (its very simple). Its very informative and covers everything, including viable alternatives.

better access to stability? mist form, armor of earth x2, earth attunement switch if traited, arcane shield + tornado are pretty much the most useful stability utilities in the game. the only profession that comes with more stabi is the warrior.
guard has more than anything other than warrior and traited for 2s of stability when parties demand zerker cute. arcane shield is a block not a stability kittens in 0.1 seconds is enough to get you knocked down in pve thats a thing and it happens. tornado would be nice except right stability is wanted for running portions and you dont want to actually hit enemies because it slows you down can you NOT hit enemies with tornado? armor or earth alright ill give you that but x2? think again gaining stability doesnt stand you back up if your already down so even if you took that trait which again zerker zerker zerker if your under half health your gonna be dead before the knockdown is over. so really yah mistform and one armor of earth if you give up not one but two of your utility for it. your parties must love you so much
the saddest part is, even an ele with 2 “wasted utility skills” is more valuable than a necro

Great vid! I can’t seem to identify where the 3 stacks of vulnerability you keep inflicting are coming from. It looks like it’s coming from your signet use, but I don’t see why that would be happening in the build you listed. Can you clarify?
