Yep that’s true its hard to please everyone – oh wait a minute didn’t the original game do that – hmm…. this game in its original form has survived for 3 years total Guildwars years 13. I’d say the original game had everyone’s support. I’ve never seen as much companints about one expansion as I have seen about HOT with the exception of maybe Factions. I’m simply saying that unless this company reverses course quickly and goes back to a process that was working your going to loose those people that are actually contributing money to your game your going to end up dieing on the vine. I simply think that the developers also feel this way they have run out of ideas and are now going to a rinse and repeat method of content developed by the original development team of Guildwars 1. Problem is they add to what wasn’t broken and should have kept the same concept. And I will say that the content is hardly worth the money when you used someone else’s work.

You’ve forgotten the advances in communication the world has gone through over that time, twitter has made peope think their opinions matter and that whining online is the same as taking action and contributing. This false world has generated armchair activists who spill out nonsense with little thought then defend it to their death.

This is why you see more complaining on forums now – back then people could only take action by changing themselves now they cry online and think they’re changing the world.

So in short you said that Anet made the game better with these change?
- less people simply leeching
- less event that fail becauser of leecher
- need to actually use your brain to play
- Reward for doing thing in the map instead of no reward at all

My thoughts exactly. I really like the fact you can’t tag and leave, like with the mordrem invasions and silverwastes. It advocates a selfish style of play, so it’s nicer this way.

Than go play guild missions and dungeons! the open world is for everyone, including solo players, train tag’s and even leechers. And no, it has nothing to do with anyone’s intelligence.

And now everybody get what he(she) deserves. I love you Anet, thanks for this. Finally you fight against leechers and afkers. And I am happy you changed some tradeable things to Acc bound.

So i’m a casual and lazy, I like to spend 30min and do 10 events instead of 1hr doing just 5 and now I can’t. HoT is just a gigantic waste of time, forcing players to stick around for 1.5hr long event chains and getting very low returns in both exp and items.

How you can think that you did 10 events in 30 minutes? You did zero events, you just get credit. Events was done by other players. I am happy that you can’t do this anymore!

Total grindfest. Was excited to use my new elites specs until I realized I had to grind the hero points to use those too. Way to go A Net. After months of getting excited to use the Dare Devil, Dragon Hunter and Druid I have to grind xp in the same old specs from 3 years running just to play the new classes. Even funnier is how the first zone all these events are going on just makes it super overwhelming. It’s as if A Net jam packed too much into one zone. Complete chaos.

You are funny. You want everything for free. It’s like: “Anet, I just want log in everyday and do nothing. Where is my reward? Also I need my fully unlocked elite specialization in DAY1”..
I don’t understand why you play this game. You should enjoy new content slowly. Dont rush and then you will see that it’s not chaos. You see chaos because you rush to much.

Now HoT is out, and it’s as grindy and repetetive as ever. That, and it’s not a lot of content for the price, and it’s all just too difficult for the average player.

Maybe you just rush one thing to much. I get my ascended armor pretty much for free. I just salvaged loot and craft items when I get enough material. Same with my legendary weapons.

It is not grindy! You just get reward which you deserve. And thats what I want. I just want to be rewarded for my participation and I don’t want be rewarded as someone who don’t participate at all. Now you are constanlty rewarded for playing this game = less RNG based then ever.

Unplayable Solo

I did my story solo on my glass ele. It is doable. You just have to be more careful of how you engage the enemy.

That’s only part of it, though. The traditional solo player wants to get his PERSONAL story done (check), explore and roam around (check, though difficult), harvest materials (check, more difficult than Tyria but very doable) – have a couple of events they can do solo or with a few people who happen to be at the same location (check, though difficulty depends a lot on your class and build – my condi necro and condi mesmer can even solo camp defense, my guardian …. struggles …) and map completition (oops, no check here because of the HP design).

Making the HP about 50% a group thing is (my opinion) a bad decision as it really goes against solo players – making the elite spec unlockable by HP and by making HP challenges the only source of HP was another very bad decision – never mind the actual amount you need.

They could, instead, have offered croup and solo adventures along with solo HP challenges. Solo play giving less HP than in group but enough to unlock your elite spec. This would also have made map completition possible.

Is it really big problem for you? It is group content. You can just do this 10 Hero Points events with some people. Right?

The primary problem here is just people like the OP who want everything at their fingertips just because they see someone else who has something they don’t because they didn’t put as much time/effort into it.

I have to agree. This game is ridiculously easy. I’m not even good at the game and I duo’d lupicus. It’s nice to actually have some challenge where appropriate, and maybe join a PvE guild? That would certainly help a lot of the players who are convinced that everything should be attainable as quickly to them working alone as it would be to a dedicated group of people.

That’s the reason why I start write replies on forum when I am at work. Bacause I don’t want Anet listen only people who want nerf everything.

Mentor-Tag abused as Comm-Tag

Just give us option to show/hide mentor tags. Or I will have to start block all crazy mentors which I don’t really want to. Or add some “Help” or “Tutorial” option to settings and show mentors only to people who enable this.

Or allow mentor tag only to people who has commander tag and allow them to change icon to (i).

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

Wrong. Price of ascended materials is based on market situation. If it will be much cheaper then existing precursor prices, everybody will do precursor this way and price will go much higher then existing precursor prices. Even worse. If they reduce material count needed, they will dramatically impact price of ascended armor/weapons (already happen). Its legendary item, dont rush, craft everyday and its pretty much for free

I agree with toxic environment. But I can’t agree with HP nerf and things you say about HoT. They said everything important when they tell you about HoT first time. Challenging content. I dont understand why you buy product which you dont want play. I want play this game again because of HoT. I dont want easy content, you have a lot of easy content without HoT. Dont ask for more please. Find friends to help you. And thanks people like you for this stupid HP reduction. Character progress is gone! Everything unlocked. Really thanks.

You speak just for yourself. You want game to be strictly casual. I don’t want to.

When Anet will add guild halls with some hardcore content (I believe they do), then again some of strictly casual players will complain because they want do everything with minimal effort.

I did daily tequatl before megaserver and we succeded every single day. Because we were one big organised group with exotic gear set (no ascended needed and never will be). Tripple trouble was posible as well before megaserver. You just have to want more. Then you will succeed and get your achivs.

You should just do other 99% of game content. Because 2 world bosses and few hard dungeon paths (because some of them are easy faceroll) are not 20% of game content as you write.

Yes new system is better. But still…

When I play dungeon with PUG where I see 2+ members from one guild I just printscreen their login names and when they kick me in strange situation (like before last boss fight, or before 4th fractal) = block + report them all. Because It’s the only thing I can do about this.

The only good solution is find dungeon/fractal active guild and dont use LFG anymore. Then you can trully enjoy this game because a lot of ppl are just selfish and greedy.

How come I play the lottery every week for the past 10 years without winning once and some random person that plays once in a while won it? That is unfair and should be fixed.

That argument doesn’t apply. You can choose to not play lottery and you wont lose anything. In Guildwars, even opening bags is lottery, as is hoping for drops, opening chests of any kind, using the mystic toilet for half the recipes or the amount of damage you do through precision.

Maybe If your expectation is to high and you expect precursor to drop. Just play the game and take your loot. Once you will get lucky and If not, you can buy it with gold which you earn. Or If you want some big road how to make weapon by yourself, you can try foefire’s essence.

If you want to be a special snowflake, most legendaries ironically are not the way to go. In fact, they’ve become so common it’s getting annoying (like half the screen turning black from 20 Twighlights).

So unless you really like the skin, be it part of some theme you have going or whatnot, or it’s the “equip a legendary” icon that bothers you, I would hold off on them.

In the end they are still a huge grindfest to get.

For me It was personal goal – game is relax for me after work. And I am happy I successfully complete it. I was doing dungeons before, so nothing changed. I just start do more events in orr which was pretty fun before megaserver come. Then I do some WvW which was completelly new for me and now I can return there whenever I want and I know what to do. It wasn’t rush for one and only item. Meanwhile I level up more characters, level up crafting and learn something more about loot from monsters.

And that blame about precursor.. Well.. Traiding post is part of the game. Everybody use traiding post since level 1. Somebody sell materials for gold. Somebody buy materials to make rare’s and try luck in mystic forge.. Somebody will get lucky and sell precursor.. It is important part of the game..

The policy on reporting griefers and AFKs?

Afking isn’t punishable because no matter where you do it it is your right. Even in pavillion, in a minigame, wherever you want, you can go afk. It might be disrespectful or whatever, but it’s your right. You can also (F word) something up by not putting a skill when you needed to or something, that’s not bannable. Reasons are that it can be trolling but can also be an emergency, a bad player, or a myriad of other reasons.

However griefing, I’d act a bit more carefully if I were you. As poor as the level design is, we remember ANet basically saying “it’s obvious it shouldn’t be like that, so don’t abuse it” for karma sets isues, for exemple.

(oh and yeah you’re also actively playing against your team on purpose, which annoys them WAY more and is way more disrespectful than going afk or something. So yeah. Care.)

I want live in the world where we as a guild can create our own instance of every map and invite only who we really want play with.. Because we need some basic rules! And the rest? Let them play together on beautiful megaserver and they will have to learn how not to be an kitten..:) We are doing very fast runs in pavilion and It’s not so easy as it seems.. But afk’s who autoatack and never donate get same reward as we who play on 110% with all that food.. Of course I don’t know anybody who get some good loot as a precursor or 15+g exotic.. Maybe these afkers did.. Maybe arenanet think that they will spend more money on gems, but that never happen because afkers don’t play this game! They just press 1 and open bags! But we want play this game with this excelent game design mechanics and ideas..

I love this game so much, but how is it possible that someone who has done 0.0005% of what others, receive the same reward.. Remove pyro and give us second wiggin or BBB or shurakk.. Make invisible rule that say, that everybody who want get reward has to do at least 20APM in event time.. It’s less stupid rule than that, where everybody who donate every round will get only 30 karma!

If this happens then I really think the DR system should be looked over as well. Sometimes I just don’t donate simply to get rid of DR. When I run regular runs (i.e. kill all bosses with like 4 minutes left on the clock) after a few rounds I’ll only get like 50 karma for killing bosses and donating. Really annoying, cause Karma is the only reason why I’m there.

Stopping with the donations for a few rounds gets rid of that DR a bit.

How many bosses are you killing in this fast rounds? All of them? Then you deserve get no reward because in 4 minutes you can attack each boss only with 1-2 autoatack.. You should be grateful that others do that job for you. Because you do nothing.

I never get only 50 karma, and we do very fast runs. Since Boss Blitz start I get 900k karma.

you get karma if you donate right? So I don’t see why wouldn’t people want to donate. Unless you get karma even if you dont’ donate.

For donation event you don’t get karma If you don’t donate. But do you know what people who farm karma/exp do? They tag all bosses. They don’t need that one donation event because they have every run 7 events succeded and they do useless work for others..

It would be great If Boss Blitz work same way as Queen’s Gauntlet.. 10 tokens + 20silver and you can go fight with bosses.

If people upscale the event, and cause it to become too hard, the event-scaling is to blame, and not the players.

Heck, players shouldn’t even be aware of event scaling. It should be a background process!

Do you think that events are balanced for players who use only ranged weapon and autoatack? And for players who are only on positions where boss can’t attack them?

1s -> bronze -> karma + experience
20s -> silver -> karma + experience + champ bags
30s -> gold -> karma + experience + champ bags + festival tokens

Reward (karma/exp/bags) depend on Boss Blitz event result – just like now.

Then we need time limit after we reach 100% donation (like other collect events in open world). 1 minute should be OK for everybody

Hardcore Pavillon

GW2community was doing hardcore runs on EU servers. Unsure how many per hour but might be worth checking them out.

Yes, but It’s imposible organise hardcore run. GW2community have good leaders and commanders who care about events and their patience is admirable. But also have people who are slackers and don’t listen. And it’s very very very important If you want to do hardcore run. You have to play for 110% = 100% + 10% consumable

Not talking about finding empty map → imposible with so many afkers. Anet should ban (or kick outside) people in pavilion who are afk longer then 5 – 10 minutes. There is a lot of maps with 20 afk people on wp. But players who want play and enjoy that are punished by theese people who are afk for hours.

It’s the inevitable conclusion to all that is good. People will find ways to exploit and use minimum effort to get what they want.

AFKers and uplevel leechers are two of the most prevalent groups that will usually make any Gold Medal map implode into obscurity. I just had it happen today with what was initially a TTS map.

There really isn’t any solution for this aside from making these events a large group instance, which I don’t see this ever happen considering pretty much nothing in this game is like that (I guess you can say WvW and EotM is kind of like that, but still you can’t really control your guild members getting in at all).

Uplevel leechers? Really?

Then you are entitled leecher. Much worse from any angle.

Another note for the developers.

Open world content is meant to be played by everyone. That’s a major part of the reason this design is so flawed as-is, even now. It’s offensive to label people who go in below 80 as “leechers” when clearly the content allows them to be there. Don’t blame them; blame Anet.

I joined a taxi to a gold run that was advertising “NO UPLEVELS” and, hilariously, that person was level 73. I didn’t even make the attempt to join.

I’d like to note that with one exception, I’ve brought all level 80s to the Pavilion. I ran it briefly on a level 55 early on, and didn’t find it to be worth my time.

This is targeted at Tachii, and not MikaHR, if it’s not clear.

They would be a leech if they have lv80s but choose to level and tag every boss on the Boss Blitz for quick levels.

I wouldn’t blame the uplevels that only has one character and finds the Boss Blitz fun, but the uplevel leechers (I clearly don’t mean all uplevels are leeching) are way worse than lv80 leechers. (I mean specifically those that contribute little to DPS, and is only there to purposely gain quick experience. Also, if you’re an uplevel and using gears way below your level while clearly knowing the mechanics of this game, then you’re not contributing to this than the uplevel who has gear of their level.)

Speaking of “uplevels aren’t a problem”, ever ran Boomboom with the majority of your group being uplevels? The loss of DPS was clear on that one.

Also, do explain why I’m considered an “entitled leecher”, please also define what leecher is @ Mika. For me, a leech is someone who contributes very little and gains much more than what effort they contribute by depending on other people to do the majority of their work for them. I will make it clear, don’t misunderstand my words for saying all uplevels are leeching. But there are clearly uplevels who are, and those are the worst. Not much worse than a level80 AFKer leecher, but still one of the worst.

Uplevers are not problem. Problem are players with lower gear level then character level. And I can tell you, that you can see lvl 80 characters with this bad gear as well. I level up warrior (50 → 80) in pavilion and after run I allways open my bags and use green (rare) loot gear. Remember you have in each pavilion slackers who just target boss and stay upstairs → no res downed, don’t take damage → just upscale event and autoatack → completelly useless. Sometimes I think that I should report them for botting because I am not sure If its human or bot – no reply for whisper + never donate + never move → you can see them on pyro and wiggin..

Suggestion: Removal of Food and Nourishment.

Hello everyone,

My suggestion is to remove food and nourishment from the game entirely.

Back in the day, Guild Wars 1, I always hated the idea of consumables, as they were called. I didn’t enjoy the concept of having to use consumables to complete certain content in the game. In Guild Wars 1 the use of the three consumables was referred to as a “conset”. These consets were used to do high-level end game content, and, basically, became a requirement for that content. Consets became an important part of the Guild Wars 1 economy and there were people dedicated to crafting these consets for end-game content players. If you don’t know what I am talking about or don’t remember, use this link (Conset). To emphasize, these consets were a requirement. The reason I felt so negatively towards the concept of crafted boosts in Guild Wars 2 is partly to blame on Guild Wars 1.

In Guild Wars 2 there are no “consets”, but there are Food and Nourishment (F&N). F&N are two separate, craft-able/purchase-able, buffs which increase the stats of the user. Now, I understand that F&N aren’t a requirement to play any content in GW2, but it sure does make it incredibly easy. Let’s face it, everyone wants their build to be the “best”, and what better way to do that by increasing your stats with F&N, right? So, if you’r going to be the best, you’re going to carry a couple of each F&N you want. I know I do. To further illustrate my point, I started to work out a pro’s and con’s.

I know the trolls are going to come out of the woodwork for this topic, but please remain open-minded. Before you make your comment please keep these questions in your mind.

-Is it really adding to your overall experience?
-Does it make things too easy?
-Do I always use it? Why?
-Do I usually win 1v1 fights against those who don’t use it?
-Do I craft my own for fun? Or just buy it off the TP?
-Do I offer it to other people when I see them without it? Why?

Cons of removing F&N
-There is a crafting discipline attached to crafting F&N. Which would mean losing that discipline. It would be a major blow to the overall crafting system.
-Removes “content” from the game.
-Makes end-game content and dungeons tougher.

Pros of removing F&N
-Easier to balance game for ANET.
(“If we add this skill, and a player runs this trait which increases it’s duration, and the same player uses x food and x nourishment. Would it be overpowered?”)
-Increases difficulty of content.
-Increases balance in WvW.
(Since F&N isn’t a requirement not every body uses it. For example, you come across a player who is using F&N while you aren’t. Your defeat usually is quick and painless.)
-Removes currently unbalanced F&N.
(For example, Koi Cake increase condition duration by 40%. If you’re using a condition damage build, and, for example hit the foe once, your damage is increased by 40%. While Truffle Risotto grants about a 7% (estimate) bonus to overall damage depending on your build.
-Removes useless F&N
(Nobody uses Apprentice Maintenance Oil, when they can use Potent Master Maintenance Oil.)
-Other see introduction.

Possible other solutions
-Allow only players under level 80 to use F&N.
-Remove from WvW, dungeons, and fractals.

I think the only reason you write this post is that you don’t want use it, but somebody blamed you that you should (organised event with rules – w/e). If not, I don’t understand why you complain (PvE POV).

Somebody has better prepare than you so he deserve be better (PvP POV). You might as well say that those who spend time adjusting traits and trying different combination is favored – remove traits.

Everybody want add some new content, please don’t suggest to remove any content.

Solution to all the Zerk hating peeps

There is a need for non-zerk players.

I myself run Soldier’s gear, because I like to do a lot of WvW and EoTM, and during 6 dungeon runs in the past week, everyone in the party has got downed by a powerful attack, except me, and ive had to run round reviving everyone.

Sorry, dead people don’t do DPS, get out of my dungeon group.

Yes, you can dodge twice in roughly 15 seconds without Vigor…Then what?…If the boss decides they want to attack for a 3rd time in a row, you’re downed. Im seriously debating about refusing players with berserker’s stat armour from my dungeon groups, just because im sick of having to revive players who refuse to embrace a toughness stat.

This is diferent topic I think. You played with unskilled players and If they had full soldier gear, you will revive them only every 2nd powerful atack = nothing change

I think that “Warrior is the best dps” come from people who have no idea how play this game. Let’s say:
– one warrior looking for group, but he know that he is bad so he need one more warrior to compensate that, because he think that warrior is the best dps → so he will get group with 2 warriors and some other classes with at least 5k AP!
– but after 3 minutes in dungeon they died two times, so they kick all other classes and use lfg to find 3 more warriors
– after 3 minutes in dungeon they died 4 times, so they kick warrior with lowest AP and use lfg to find guardian
– after 3 minutes they died and all blame guardian

True story ^^

If you are good, you don’t realy have to play with this people..

Long cooldowns of other classes like ele. I’ve been pugging dungeons for years now and 2-3 warriors in a group ALWAYS had more dps than 2-3 ele

Oh man, now I know you’re trolling. That’s hilarious. Btw, lava font has like a 5 second CD. But yeah, even if we take FGS out of the equation, 3 Ele will still out-dps 3 Warriors by a pretty far margin. It wouldn’t be very close. If you take FGS into account, which you would in the real world, one Ele might out-dps 3 Warriors.

I’ve added people that I commonly see in Crown Pavillion and just PM them if they’re in a good map. Often they do seem to be. Seems more reliable than LFG.

Yes but that’s gotta be a little more sociable and friendly, which many people simply do not and behave selfishly

Anet did great job with this Boss Blitz design. But some players just never learn and then you will see situations like “One big zerg in pavilion”.. Let them play like they want and then smile how they argue on forum about zerg content
Just like Lions Arch Living Story events..

Simple answer:
If you think you don’t need to know, then don’t complain that you don’t know.

You should use more your “block list”. If you dont like someone’s behaviour – you should just add account to “Block list” and when you organise some big event like Blitz/Teq/Wurm (whatever require cooperation with other ppl) you can check If somebody who asking for taxi is in your Block list and you will not taxi these peopl inside..:)

You never know when you start organise something and full “Block list” of people who don’t cooperate is really usefull.

I agree with this topic..:) Because I run dungeon speed runs every day and I think we all know this.. And do you know what this really means?
Sample:
“I play warrior and it’s easy (*), also my friend play mesmer so we want 4 warriors and 1 messmer speed run..”

  • (*) because you just need to use all your evades and you don’t really need more if your group is full zerker and you all have 20k hp by default..

I play zerker guardian because I like play style and dps posibility (this is the best option for me).

Just try zerk dungeon group like 2 x guardian, 1-2 x ele and 1-2xw/e -> you will never die (even with pug) and clean fast every dungeon..

So with the wardrobe system in place, can players who have the mats (or most of them) craft the crossing for the skin, then put it up on the trading post and make their money back? Because that would make it a good time to craft this bad boy for those who can. Not to mention it would raise the supply on the TP.

No you can’t do this. Unlock skin = soul bound/account bound.

Everything what you need to know will people tell you if you ask before event start..:) They will tell you where you should be and what you should do.

If you don’t ask before event (or dont use google) – please do nothing.

You should watch map chat all the time and please in dps phase – use only fire fields (IMPORTANT!).

You can use upgrade extractor.. If it’s expensive for you, just buy/craft new upgrade(s).. Don’t expect that you will get cheap solution for everything..

I am not a part of any large guild. But i know who are people from my server and i want play with them. I have choosed my home world and now you decide without me. This implementation is only big mistake. I hope you will enjoy your maps – full with people who don’t talk with each other and don’t know each other – because you just place them randomly together into one instance. Are we only numbers for you or what?
