Definitely. Scepters can burst peeps for 15-18k depending on traits and utilities. The damage is nearly instant (<half a second) and is very hard to predict. I like fire/air/arcane btw. It’s probably better to start with water or earth to see what style you like.

I’ve found Scepter surprisingly decent in this meta because more people are running glassier builds.

Btw the person in the first video isn’t doing the burst 100% correctly. You cast phoenix first but you need to flash before phoenix finishes casting. This reduces the phoenix travel time to zero and makes the burst unpredictable.

One of my favorite combos was air focus 5 (knockdown) into fire 2 (dragon’s tooth). At this point they will stunbreak and dodge and right after they dodge use the phoenix-flash combo.

Hello, I wanted to share an idea I thought would be really cool for pvp. This new game mode would involve ‘templates’; builds with weapons, utilities, traits, sigils, runes, the whole nine yards, pre-selected. Each class would have several templates to choose from. Template ideas would be a collaboration between experienced pvpers and Anet. Balance changes would also be separate from the rest of the game. Templates and balance changes would be made with three ideas in mind:

1. template is fun to play
2. template is reasonable to play against, (build has appropriate risk/reward, build has counter-play dependent on skill, not class, less rng).
3. template is fun to watch (animations to dangerous skills are recognizable, build isn’t ridiculously tanky or has ridiculous sustain, build doesn’t spam screen clutter).

pros:
1. More build diversity. I know this sounds counter-intuitive but I think templates would actually increase build diversity. Right now we have the illusion of choice, the higher you get, the less build diversity you see.
2. Bring back awesome builds that were fun to watch, play, and even play against.
3. Balance is easy. Currently, making a balance change has many consequences. Currently one single change will effect several builds, multiplied by different stat combinations, multiplied again by three game modes. With templates you would at most effect one or two other templates.
4. Points are more dynamic and exciting, not stagnant and boring like they are now.
5. Things actually die.

Sadly, roaming is in it’s last throes. Too much cheese to wade through. Too much damage and instant burst to 1vX. Not enough enemy roamers to enjoy roaming anymore.

great ideas man, here’s some of mine:

*greatly increase the rewards from loot bags but divide the rewards by the number of people who tagged the enemy. This makes sense logically and in terms of making WvW a far more interesting place.

*more objectives for different roles. WvW is a war. Why do we have so few roles? Add in rewarding objectives for spy’s, roamer’s, defenders, assassins (killing enemy commanders), disruptors (economy system, castles and keeps should have an economy that exists outside the walls).

*main zerg shouldn’t have so much mobility, being able to storm across the map and complete objectives as they go. Put a speed penalty depending on the size of the group. Groups of 20 and less shouldn’t have any speed penalty.

*WvW skill tree!!!!!! Spend your points to unlock powerful constructs like: (trench: gives you and 4 allies reduced damage from siege, rabbit hole: hides you from enemies that don’t get to close, dynamite: weakens walls, commander: increases stats of those around you.

I don’t really know how good we are, but there are enough newish players in WvW that you can win 95% of your 1v1’s and even a few 1v2’s and 1v3’s.

Faux’s RRR build! I think it would be cool if it locked your pet in one location but it boosted your pets abilities significantly, like a defensive “node” you could set up.

yep, I’ve only been playing for a few days and I’m already set on my build. Quick draw and taunt are game changers for power ranger. I’m still using dogs btw, my pets knockdown crits for 5k lol. The shortened rampage as one is amazing. 5-9 seconds of swiftness on wpn swap gives me more mobility than before. 16 second cd heal as one is pretty great to. Honestly there are so many buffs we just got. I’ve been beating condi rangers in wvw by out-maneuvering them with quick draw double swoops. In pvp this would be rough though I think. Gotta take advantage of open spaces.

A good power ranger will win most 1v1s in WvW, but I mean come on, It’s one of our few shining moments. I wouldn’t really care if they nerfed the range as long as they gave lb something in return.

lb/gs zerk can definitely hold its own in a 1v1, just keep practicing. Don’t swap to GS too early, don’t move unless you have to in LB, play aggressively when you pop stone. I know dueling rooms are toxic but if you wanna get better it’s a good option, better yet, find thieves/warriors to duel over and over again. I honestly don’t think wvw is a good place to learn, in the time it takes to find a 1v1 you could have dueled someone like 10 times plus actually talked to them and learned what they’re doing. Not to mention in wvw you’ll fight SA thieves who have a completely different play-style than the far more aggressive trickery thieves in pvp

When you cast your pet’s f2, it does it immediately no matter where it is, in other words, it’s up to the ranger to intelligently decide if the target is in range. Drakes for example would turn to face the target and fire, no matter how far they are. Would be even cooler if we had control over the secondary special pet attacks, aka tail swiping a healing spring even if your target is far away. Thoughts?

Here’s some tips for LB:
-Learn when to strafe and when to stand still for channeling power and skill reliability.
-Learn when LB #3 fails and how to avoid it, this takes a while.
-don’t sabotage you’re pet’s CC with LB #4.
-LB #5 is kind of interesting, even if you cancel it immediately, a couple arrows will drop. This is useful if you wanna get off some quick pressure without exposing yourself for too long.

I’m not trying to pass judgement, but I do think some people put their server’s victory over personal fun, which is crazy. An empty wvw dominated by one server that had a ‘victory at any cost’ mentality is pretty lame for everyone. Another misconception is that people duel for bragging rights, which for me at least isn’t true. Many duels aren’t really duels just spontaneous 1v1s where the opponent happened to be fun to fight against. The OS isn’t an option because it’s always empty. That being said, it’s wrong to be mean to someone who interrupted unless they’re purposely trolling.

Let’s be honest, longbow is cheese. But we need that cheese because without it, we’re under powered. The buffs Anet gave us didn’t help us against the specs we struggle vs., the buffs helped us against the specs we are already good against. They could have buffed Longbow in a more creative way, giving us some way of dealing with targets in close range like a engineer’s rifle, even warrior longbow 2 does high damage at close range. Ele scepter 3 is another example of a balanced high damage ranged skill. Basically I’m saying longbow needs buffs ands nerfs. Right now, it’s too easy to do damage but we lack the tools to deal with certain specs.

Bloodlust will give you ‘bout 10%. Even with max might, it’ll be more than force for sure. btw, fire 3 can hit 3-4 times for massive damage so I wouldn’t waste it on might stacks. (unless you’re hitting and stacking at the same time). I don’t pve much but there’s a video somewhere I believe of the optimal s/f lightning hammer rotation.

Ya, he’s referring to the initial burst which is point blank range, also ideally with:
-full hp
-full stamina
-swap to air before phoenix lands so you get the damage bonus for being in air and fury from swapping

1. good damage potential (a lot of synergy with drakes, gs, clarity, hunt) but low reliability. (some of your burst is hard to land)

2. good to fair. I feel like in some situations you’re gonna be stuck in gs.

I feel like this skill is borderline useless for several reasons:
1. it’s better to use the water autoattack, which has a better chance of triggering fresh air.
2. low damage doesn’t match it’s ease of use.

To those who don’t understand why it’s a problem, hotjoin is the ambassador to pvp content. It’s a lot of people’s first exposure to non pve content and the fact that it’s so bad turns a lot of people off of pvp and gw2 in general.

My s/f solo roaming loadout has been having a lot of success as I get better. Mostly zerk with soldier and knight. 16k health, 2.2k armor, 50% crit chance, 199% crit damage.

If you’re a dagger/pistol thief, don’t focus so much on getting the backstab in. Power rangers, especially s/d, have so many ways to deny the backstab. Play very aggressively, dodge pet cc, and abuse shadowshot and headshot.

Something I can add is use gs #4 cautiously vs good d/p thieves due to shadow shot. BTW when I was playing ranger, I found s/d much better than gs, but then again that was before the gs buffs.

one more thing: swap to drake → hilt bash → tail swip → do the damages

If you use pure power weapons, the dps you lose from zerker to celestial is very large. The more might you stack, the smaller this difference is. I guess what I’m saying is celestial forces you to use might stacking of some sort to do decent damage.

I’m afraid it can’t unless you use lightning hammer which doesn’t make sense for your question. The damage from that set comes cycling between elements. Make it easier on yourself by making your key-binds convenient. I have fire set to ‘q’, earth set to ‘mouse button 3’, water set to ‘alt’ and air set to ‘shift’ for example. Scepter/dagger will be better for leveling, I like scepter/focus when fighting other people. Also, imho scepter doesn’t “come alive” until lvl 80 when you get the ‘fresh air’ trait. Stick with scepter as it’s super fun!

Certain aspects of this game are pretty fun to watch but others are just boring. I don’t know if anyone caught the “1v1” cup but watching the spirit ranger fight the phantasm mesmer was pretty much the worst thing I’ve ever seen. For one thing, this game is too subtle for the average person. When someone sees someone die to condis, their gonna be like wait? why did that guy just die suddenly? Certain animations are far too subtle to be enjoyable to watch. People watching an asura evis someone to death will be like why did that little guy do so much damage with that little attack? Cooldowns tend to be low in this game and sustain is high so instead of seeing “big plays”, you see repeated plays over and over again.
