I don’t get why you play games that might cause danger to your health. Just delete it. Forget it. There is milion other games to play.

I don’t get why people drive which might cause danger to their health.. Everything has risks and there’s no reason for someone to avoid something because it may pose a risk.

Funny you mention it, but driving is one of the things I don’t do. It would potentially get very messy if I did – nasty bright sun on some days out to get me, or bright headlights from other vehicles at night. Ouch. At least I won’t kill anyone else by playing a game, that’s for sure. Plus, I get a moral high ground in public transportation. XD

But you are right: if everyone went on that rationale of don’t do stuff cos it’s dangerous, we’d never do anything! Life’s for living, so let us decide, naysayers, what we can do and what we can’t. Sharing information about what has been an issue in-game for us is no bad thing, nor is trying to come up with solutions to make it a little more friendly for our usage.

Warhorn Audio Feedback [merged]

I’m afraid I have to add my discontent to the mix. The new warhorn sound is... not pleasant. It’s like a whoopee cushion got stuck in the neck of the weapon. Please, revert it at the next available opportunity. If the old sound has issues (which I’ve clearly missed reading or hearing about, so would love to know the why of the change), it has nothing on the disturbing lack of presence and major flatulence of the new sound.

Those were great! Thanks for sharing. I have a feeling we’d get very annoyed by some of these sounds if they were integrated into our game, but it’s a base to work from. You can hear a definite presence in the sounds - you know who’s coming, and there’s business to get down to. They give a real sense of fear to be instilled within respective enemies - something which a fart noise doesn’t really do.

PoF Demo - Feedback

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ceridwen.6703

Ceridwen.6703

Here’s my thoughts:

It’s not you, Anet, it’s me. I’ve possibly had my fill for now and although I’m grateful for the chance to try out PoF, I was generally uninspired to make a pre-purchase.

But here’s another reason why it’s me: I’m just not into deserts in any particularly way. I don’t like brown, yellow and orange. The occasional green of palm trees and such is nice, but it’s not enough. I just couldn’t even bring myself to complete any hearts because of the terrain, other than that first one for the raptor. I only found myself doing events because I saw some other players and felt bad for them, as they clearly needed some mesmer fabulousness to bring some colour and pop into the party.

I did enjoy the raptor, for what it’s worth. If it could actually bound upwards the way it can forwards I’d be happier. It’s definitely the equivalent for HoT’s glider. Though it does feel a smidge clunky every now and again (just what is it getting stuck on? I can’t see anything for it to be stuck on), could use another dye channel or two, I still found bounding around a lot of fun. However, the biggest issue is the transition to glider. I do understand why you wouldn’t just jump an animal off a cliff and whilst in the air seamlessly get your glider out, having the creature fall to its death, but still. The raptor disappears after a dismount, so why does the associated pocket dimension Bag of Holding or Pokéball not work in the air? Some slight re-config for a better change over is required, for those who are combining gliding with riding.

Anyway, I’ve been disinterested in future GW2 since Lord Buckethead made it apparent I wouldn’t be going to tickle Jormag in the Shiverpeaks. I was so looking forward to that! Yet again, that’s me, not you. I really was looking forward to a lot more snowy maps. I like the snow. But only in games. In real life, it sucks.

It’s probably fair to say I’ve been cheating on you, too, with another game. I’m sorry. The other game doesn’t cause my eyes to dry out, you see. You have since HoT, although I still played through the pain and discomfort. I’m just not sure I can do it again. You will still remain installed on my pc, and considering I have just a tiny amount of space (only two MMOs, and two single player games at a time), it’s not too bad a place to be in. And considering you’re still installed, I may pick up PoF at some point. I might just wait a while is all.

Thanks again for the privilege of testing it out and I hope you do well out of it.

Oh when I say “chest” I mean from lower abs to upper chest xD. Because if a man is showing off his chest, he’s more than probably going shirtless or open shirt (else it looks kind of weird).

:D No redefining anatomy! That’s just being cheeky. You mean the trunk (or torso).

Oh thank you ! I couldn’t remember those two words xD.

My pleasure! It’s probably useful for all of us if we can use the correct terms; less confusion and cross purposes that way.

But Anet could do a bit sexier pants by making them a bit more low-rise or at least making the character wear the pants more “inclined” (can’t really explain that) instead of straight around the waist.

You speak of revealing the “Apollo’s Belt.”

I too wish for the lower rise trouser that would help reveal this deliciousness on males.

Hello! I have what could be considered a typically unlucky account (enforced because I’m typically a negative person, even when I try hard not to be. The curse of a naturally down-turned mouth? I’m just not sure). I had one lucky week earlier in the year, when the dungeons were spitting exotics at me like they had some kind of intolerance, and -

*dons tin foil hat*

- the joke was at least two other guildies got the same exotic weapon (not armour, you’ll note) at the same time, which is clearly some kind of supernatural occurrence. I’ve not had hardly a bean since, and don’t get me started on precursors...

...they’re a myth! Invented just to torment me, because I did something heinous in a past life, or something.

*tin foil hat off*

I refer to light armour in the main. I believe medium armour should also be addressed, like three years ago. So:

Give me the sexy man armour, Anet. I will give you my money - what little I have of it. :P Of course, I’d love for it to be a nice craftable set, just like a lot of the general level-up stuff is. Not everything has to be all singing and dancing whistles and bells in the Gem Store. Still. If it’s the only way, I will cough up cash for seeing something like my Age of Conan Sneakytim, who I’m attaching for reference once more. He was great to look at. Just horrible to play.

For my guys, I don’t want the waist always covered up, and half a man chest does not look sexy, it just looks like half a man chest. Also, go below the abdomen! Do it! Is nice.

Also, man arms. Men have them and I like them. I want to see them on my man toons (and admittedly do, cos Leystone armour and Vigil armour. I just want MORE, kitten it!). I don’t want a chest window (ever), but the arms should be out more. You do nice man arms, Anet. Put them out more. Is true story.

Please note, man knees (and I’ll argue knees in general) can conversely be abhorrent. Well, only sometimes. Maybe. This is is purely subjective of course, but I’m on a roll and I don’t care. Full length trousers with no kitten capes or skirt-style jacket attachments are absolutely necessary. It can’t be AC trousers all the time (or the level 10-20ish crafted stuff). Show all the leg or none.

I suppose I will accept the sight of man knees for the greater good. The greater good being we cannot have cut-offs in the wrong part of the leg, because that is aesthetic armageddon. Since there are differing leg shapes, one size is definitely not fits all, and full length trousers or no length trousers and exposed knees (Faren’s Swimwear Collection) is best. That said, I suppose I’ll allow some kind of Norn-esque man knee-length shorts. Because somebody somewhere wants that, and I care about catering to all. Yes.

There is probably more to write, but I’ve written it over before, and it never changes. It’s worse if you try to dress super-skinny twig chaps, too. Everything looks all ballgown voluminous!

Anyhoo, treat your lovely men toons better in the wardrobe department, please, Anet. I would like to throw cash at you for it.

Thank you!

For light armor male, the feathered armor chest piece shows quite a bit of skin.

This is so. It’s a shame about the lower half of the outfit. And the sleeves. I suppose I can deal with the sleeves, yet I find I am wanting the same laissez-faire attitude to the ladies’ waistlines applied to their male counterparts. Also without the skirt attachment. Not that I want the guys walking around in speedos per se, because that is .. well, knees. Knees! Just a lower rise would be nice – it shows the torso area off much more, without making it look hacked in half by an over-generous lower body item. The man’s silhouette is ruined in this manner! It suits him not, sir! He is not dapper, stylish or sexy! This is an affront! It must be remedied! Argh! Grr! Ag…

I need to have a lie down before I take up this crusade again.

I’m no expert in this field, but when I compare traceroute reports of my own and those I have seen in different threads in this forum concerning this issue, it could well be that node ae5.fra61.ip4.tinet.net [141.136.107.218] in France is the one to blame. (SNIP!).

You might NOT be an expert. But you did expertly diagnose this issue.

That hop would be at fault, and anyone who had a contract with that ISP should contact them and get that hop adjusted (over subscription) or fixed (faulty Interface Card, Routing Engine, or failing/aging router).

Until that happens, the issue wont resolve itself.

I just did a trace route, and this

Yes!!!! More cat minis – especially nice fat ones like the ones I have at home….

Those were kittens and cubs on the gem store (not adult cats like Chauncey).

More cats in general is cool, however.

I appreciate your time and effort you put into your comment and yes a few people have quoted Gaile tonight and the information was taken aboard. While we haven’t exactly come up with any new ideas tonight. At least I know where Anet stands on this type of stuff a little better. Maybe it’s the different countries or something, maybe I’m not tuned in _enough_ but I thought everybody was supposed to be taking certain things a bit more serious nowadays with regards to online harassment. Maybe it’s because "Online" is not a physical place and can’t be held against any one country’s laws etc BUT I always think more can be done to cut out the middleman (_police or whomever they be_) by preventing it occuring ingame first. And as such was looking for other ideas outside of our current block/report system.

I appreciate that. I think, however, you’re really looking for a larger shift to the positive in behaviour patterns in society as a whole. Behaviour in-game is a result of complex conditions outside of the game, so the best thing you can do is take responsibility for yourself and conduct yourself in the manner you would like to see from others. I think your heart is totally in the right place, but go easy and take small steps. It’s not something you can change overnight, and you’ll likely end up with more headaches if you try to take it all on at once.

As I said, I advocate the block and report system. For our in-game purposes, for the average ordinary troll, it does work. For the stalker types, you need to contact the police. A few people telling such a person that their behaviour isn’t cool probably won’t work. Having a rule in place saying they mustn’t harass people actually won’t make a jot of difference. For death threats - not the asinine wishes of plagues on people’s houses, which although horrid, are not actual death threats - for when you truly believe your life, or the life of someone else to be in danger, that’s a straight-up police matter. Again, no gaming rules will make a difference here. I wouldn’t look upon the police as the middlemen, either. In this sense, that would be ArenaNet.

EDIT: although if you were receiving death threats in GW2, I’m sure ArenaNet would like to hear about it in an email, wherein you’d say X has occurred, and you’re taking it to the police. Given that the police would likely need to speak to ANet about it.

Yeah, but there are ways to accentuate the inherent features of men/women that generally match the biological make up of the 2. That’s why cleavage works on a female & on a male it just looks like a random hole. Also, Date is wearing cloth & his setup is good. So do the Castanics. The Castanics are sexy, yet masculine, & the gear works. This just looks like a dude wearing clothes that were designed for someone else entirely.

Yeah, I’m going to have to agree: the scene missing bit on the male version isn’t quite right. I think it doesn’t go far enough south, leaving the sexy out of it and making it just odd. We don’t even get the opportunity to see manly man arms (but the female version shows arm! Why are lady arms better than man arms? Are man arms offensive?! Don’t answer that. Really. Don’t).

I had to Google Castanics (What?! I don’t TERA), and found a wonderful example of how to make male armour of this type look nice and schmexy (link prolly not for everyone, prolly NSFW):

Image of fantasy male

The individual shows a suitably low enough waistline and the difference between a random try-hard window and a window for a reason (which has nothing to do with being functional armour in the slightest!). Of course, I can’t abide the shoulders and the gauntlets, but apparently I can’t get everything! XD

One day in the life of GW2, I hope we can get just one pair of troosers of similar low waist with a top section which does not inhibit the sexy. Then I shall be happy.

Captain Gnashblade, our living story sham

Apologies then. I’d assumed that the only NPCs in Lion’s arch who had the title “Captain” visibly displayed were council members. I must have missed the garden variety captains – at least those with the word “Captain” visibly shown.

I’d add to the title of the forum that my assumption was incorrect but I don’t think I have enough characters left to do so.

At the docks there is a “Lionguard Captain” npc.

Frankly, Evon couldn’t have done a better job then Ellen, and was far shadier. Not surprising more people voted against him :P.

Captain is a rank that doesn’t specifically tie to boat ownership. You can have a “Captain of the guard” who doesn’t own a yacht – or sail, at all. I just found it odd that we are suddenly, visibly, told that Evon owns a boat when it wasn’t worth mentioning in every living world event up until this point.

I agree that people didn’t vote for Evon because he was shadier. That said, if we didn’t received pouches with an Evon bribe and a vote token but instead obtained “sponsored” vote tokens (which rewarded two silver if you voted for Evon with them), I think the vote would have gone very differently.

“I am a very, very nice and pleasant person, and thus it is registered I voted for Evon Gnashblade, Charr of the People. He’s so much more than he appears, he understands the financial ramifications of running a business, he understands LA and how to keep order. He also didn’t take any kitten from his old warband when they wanted to extort the people of Lion’s Arch. He gives a kitten about LA, even if he appears in a bad light sometimes.

Kiel is a seemingly nice person who is not qualified on any front. Sure, she can investigate stuff, but apparently that skill is hit and miss: when entrusted with the security of LA, it went southwards fast.
After somehow managing to con everyone into voting for her, she also gave us a seizure-inducing fractal! This evidence clearly shows she’s not as nice as she appears. When it comes down to it, I’ll trust the charr – at least he’s honest about who he is and is competent with the cashflow to boot!"

Disclaimer: Please, don’t take this too seriously! The above is from the point of view of a ranger character I actually had removed from the premises a little while ago. I don’t really care either way: technically I voted for both of them and should never be trusted either!

2. Next, they release expansion related to Jormag*, which includes permanent map additions/campaigns/dungeons where appropriate.

3-5. Rinse repeat for other dragons. Also feel free to add extra mini non-dragon content for flavoursome switch-ups (standard festivals, SAB, etc. Request SAB to be permanent content, although I personally cannot take part in it).

Leaders do actually meet for summits, but it did feel a little bit unwise to have them all meet in this manner, even if it seemed necessary at the time. I wonder if it’s possible to use other means of communication - holographics, basic sound relay. I like to think the tech is there. But that’s just me.

As for Taimi, I disagree with kids being in such situations, no matter how smart or creative they are (mothering instinct kicks in and goes all Ripley). It’s been shown that Scruffy will not take every beating that comes its way, and despite Taimi being so, so intelligent, she does not have the wisdom which comes with age. She’s currently min-maxed in that respect. She doesn’t have the dice rolls in her favour. She cannot be considered responsible due to being a kid; she’s not capable of making adult decisions, and the episode showed that, and her childishness, perfectly. Phlunt was a total kitten, mind, but he was right to take the device. The stereotypical arrogance of the asura may prevent his full credit to Taimi or even worse, but I recall mention she’s on good terms with Zojja, and if you’ve played the asuran personal story, you’ll know she’ll not let anyone get away with anything nefarious when it comes to the inventions of others. Honestly, though, I don’t think it’s too different to keeping a trust fund which a kid receives upon adulthood.

Now, to ensure Taimi grows up to be a sensible adult! Over to you, er... Braham.*

Oh.

I was just posting my experience on this, but the forum ate it. Not sure what happened there. :/ I shall attempt to add my experience again!

Anyhoo, I was in Frostgorge Sound, having just done the Claw of Jormag and then after the Rescue Casataways event by Honor of the Waves. I came out of the water, minekittenhril node, and went to the kodan who sells beer after the Castaway event (for the Brewmaster achievement). I saw on the minimap the mithril node is still there, so thought maybe I just missed the last bit of it, and decided to go and finish it. En route, I experienced a rather noticeable lag spike, after which I died on the spot. I know this sort of thing is happening right now, so just went for the Slough of Despond waypoint.

I came back equipped with underwater weapons, and one of the pets I use underwater. However, skill two off the weapon was missing. I went back into the water to see if that would fix it, and skill two came back. I was also able to swap my pet to the shark and rename it. I came back on land and the results are as you see in the attached pictures. Amusing, yes, and I probably should’ve tried to fight on land with the underwater weapons - but as I was unable to mine the remaining mithril, I thought the weapons would be the same.

*"mined a singular mithril node" gets eaten by the kitten censor ("a singular was actually just the letter "a")? Wow!

Good to keep a positive attitude. But since you mentioned feeling unlucky… do you keep some extra weapons or armor in your bags that you equip from inventory? The reason I asked about “lucky/unlucky accounts” was because of my possible theory that swapping gear is resetting a factor in how good the loot you get is.

On a couple of my characters I do, but not all of them.

Today, after I posted my earlier comment in this thread, I did an event and received a pair of Zhed’s (exotic) Boots. These are actually the ones I tend to purchase for the appropriate characters. I didn’t need them today, however, and sold them instead. This was on my main character, who has one and a sixth spare armours, plus extra weapons for swapping about.

Without wanting to second guess you or be too forward, try and think more positively (perhaps even to the point of ignoring the loot and enjoying other parts of the game), and see if it makes a difference?

Or a nice letter to Anet with cupcakes demanding politely requesting answers regarding RNG.

Half-naked females, fully draped males.

Check out this armor set, the male version is more revealing than the female version.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Braham's_Heavy_Armor_Skin
Not super revealing but shows more skin than the female version does. My point is that this game needs more revealing armor for EVERYONE, and different types of armor, most of it has the same theme imo. I want to role play as an uncivilized wild amazonian woman who makes her cloths out of animal skins & furs & bones & teeth and doesn’t cover up too much, and avoids civilization unless I need to go there to kill some one. >.< But yea the female armor in this game is not revealing at all imo.

Aye, I’ve seen that armour. It’s not particularly what I’m after (Team Chrono can’t use it! I may upload the Team for reference).

I agree, however, more choice is good – but that choice must sit firmly based in equality. It currently doesn’t. And whereas I may disagree on how you want female armour, I certainly don’t like it when we can’t both get what we want!

We should take into account the game’s content rating, too, so it may never come to anything much more than we have. I’ve used AoC as a reference point, but it’s an 18-rated game here in Europe (don’t know about the US). GW2 is a 12-rated game, so I figure it would be somewhat unreasonable to expect the exact same treatment between what is ostensibly an adult game versus a kid/tween game.

Xena rocked, btw. I actually think that sort of outfit would be okay.

EDIT: The Sims 4 just had an update where players could choose to enable clothes as unisex. TS4 has the same content rating as GW2. My thinking there is there are certainly possibilities to explore within a content rating.

I agree, we both should get what we want ( not quite sure what you want but I’m sure I’ll never get what I want, I usually don’t) But I just went through and looked at almost every set of armor & outfit they have in this game and in most of them the male and female version looks almost exactly the same & both versions are VERY concealing with a few exceptions both ways. And I’m pretty sure not 100% sure but pretty sure gw1 and gw2 are rated the same and gw1 had WAY sexyer more revealing armor choices for both male and female, not sure why gw2 is soo against sexy and revealing armor when gw1 was all for it, seems were going backwards rather than forwards in this whole progression and freedom of choice thing. But anyways I hope you get whatever it is that you want eventually. PS. If the issue is men wanna wear woman cloths and vise versa, I don’t see a problem with that either, in lord of the rings online you can wear whichever outfit you like regardless of sex. Aint he pretty in his little sun dress and flower wreath

I had a post earlier in the thread. It has a picture of my Sneakytim in it, from AoC. That’s what I’d be ultimately after, but it’s not something I see happening.

Loved the LotRO chap! <3

I’m actually after freedom of expression, and the safety in which to have it. I think a game like this can be a positive voice for that, and if it doesn’t hurt anyone or our individual selves, then it should be a thing. I don’t have to want to do or even like a thing myself to know it’s important that others should be able to experience it, although my personal constants are “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” and “another world is possible”. I know it there are some constraints because of content ratings – the world can’t and won’t change in a day, and constraint isn’t necessarily a bad thing when we think of children (as this game does still cater to children with that content rating, and my own child is one of them). That TS4 comment was, however, something where positive, forward-thinking change has occurred, and shows what is possible.

What I don’t understand is, why the dragons go through the cycle of absorbing and releasing magic in the first place? It seems like a pointless endeavor destroying the world only to let it breathe again eventually. What force hates Tyria so much that they planted the dragons to create this artificial torture chamber?

My guess is it’s just part of the circle of life… or the circle of death, destruction, and renewal, whatever is preferred.

Ls too hard

Ceridwen.6703

Krestfallen sums up what i was about to type. Really guys.. l2p, its really not that hard. Isnt like somebody would expect you to do liadri the concealing dark with no armor and 4 gambits here. These bosses are easy as pie, just observe and take a look at the mechanics. They give you enough time to do so (if you can dodge a bit what you should at lvl 80 by default). I for one am sick of the stack and auto attacking that this game was reduced to for far too long and i welcome the attempt to make bosses that atleast fight back. Learn to play your class, avoid the very obvios red and orange cyrcles and watch the bosses movements, if a new element is introduced in the fight try how it works and what it does (like that fire in the last LS fight) and adapt to the enemie and the fight and dont expect the enemie to adapt to you. The enemies job is to kill you and not to cuddle you or give you an easy time (well..still easy but you get the point). Its your enemie and it wants to see you dead…DEAD. Man up and try again till you get how it works. Learn to play your class and\or adapt the build to the enemie if its not working. Use food and wetstones, change your weapon set, change your armor to something more tanky if needed. Read the enemie descriptions and buffs if available. Cant figure out how the mechanic works? Get a guide vid on youtube or go to dulfy and read up how it works. Ask people to join your group and do it as team. So many ways to fix that issue, just gotta do it

I must say, I refuse to man up. A gender change should not be required to play a game. :P

oh shush you XD you know exactly what i mean

[Suggestion] Armor Skin Designs

Female: nothing different than we have already. Naked.
Males: nothing different than we have already. Covered head to toe in a long skirts/robes.

Not exactly what I want more of.
What I want: more exposed skin for men, less skirts, less robes, less buttcapes, less massive shoulders, asymmetrical designs, stylish boots, etc.

I would attach examples but I know better than to waste my time, anet doesnt care.

I concur with everything you say here, but those guys in the pictures above... Oh, dear me, some of those guys are delicious, despite not being semi-naked enough. I want a selection of them in a collection. Now. Just for me. And a few outfits for my mesmer from said collection whilst we’re at it - goodness knows, the poor chap has worked hard enough to have a dapper wardrobe.

Female Light Armor Leggings -- All skirts?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ceridwen.6703

Ceridwen.6703

Most females are dudes IRL , skirts are better to look at.

That’s a foolish statement.
First, you assume that there isn’t a significant female player base for Guild Wars 2. In fact, there are a large number of female players. Do they outnumber male players? No. But they are a significant customer group. In this day and age, it’s inaccurate to assume that female character=male player.
Second, you act like all males share your opinion about skirts. Some males prefer skirts, some males prefer pants. Whether the guys in question want a realistic character, or a sex doll, their personal images of said character will vary widely.

Honestly, who would NOT want more variety? :/

Agreed, for the most part. Just wanted to add: one can’t assume all male characters are male players, either. The only safe assumption is there’s likely a human being driving the character. Unless it’s a bot, of course. Though, I’m pretty sure bots don’t care what they wear.

I’d also add, I play male characters and female asura because it means I don’t have to contend with either a lack or overabundance of armour on the females (human, norn, sylvari). I do have to deal with buttcapes, however, which are a treacherous beast. I’m now saving up my Ascalonian tears for the AC pants, which are quite yummy. They would probably work quite nicely on a lady human/sylvari/norn, too.

That said, I always liked the conjurer pants on the ladies. On the other hand, I wish there was a masquerade skirt that went around all the way. And had a different, extra top part that was a bit more complete (it wouldn’t be masquerade then, but just a full ballgown type thing, and I’d have no issue with the suspenders remaining). Plus more pants.

What it comes down to: Everyone Needs Trousers! Bring the Trousers! Pants for Plants (and non-plants)! Light Armour Users Want Nice Trousers! Without Bits Missing!

And some underwired bras might be necessary for some characters. Or sports bras. Frankly, I’m surprised the Tyrian chiropractors and osteopaths don’t get more business.

The memorial should be something simple, and not name any specific names. A small plaque and three trees.

“In memory of those who died so others may live.”
An apple tree.
A cherry tree.
An oak tree.

This is the right way to do it! Then people who haven’t played the PS through and/or are unaware of the characters will think nothing of the trees, bar perhaps it’s a nice thought; then if they continue and complete the story and come back to the trees, there’ll be at least some acknowledgement of what occurred.

As for the rest of us, we’ll all get something for our favourite mentor(s), so it’s a complete win-win.

Lots of +1s for you, Palador! Can we get this put up as a suggestion, perhaps?

Honest opinion on the marionette

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Ceridwen.6703

Ceridwen.6703

I think you can clearly see the design progression from revamped Tequatl to the marionette. I think it still requires some refinement, but it’s certainly going in the right direction. Both events still require someone (or a few someones) to take absolute charge, and for everyone present to pay attention to that someone (or someones). I like the idea of reducing the numbers into area squads with a more decisive visual (whereas Tequatl there should be squads, but it’s not always presented as clearly mapwise). This cutting up should help make the job easier, in theory.

Within the smaller groupings, however, ArenaNet need to work on portions failing if one player fails - if that’s what is actually happening. To clarify: I don’t think I’ve seen that happen, but if the forums have it correct and it is the case, arming people to pick on one person is wrong - we all know that what happens when people experience a bad attempt, and it’s unacceptable, particularly if it can be prevented in the first place (prevention being the best cure and all).

I don’t appreciate a two-hour wait and nowhere else to practice the mechanics. An arena of some sort would be useful; failing that, I’m not sure if it would be possible to have some kind of playback and/or spectator mode in game for this. Or a story instance where we stumble upon Scarlet’s plans for those regulator wardens ahead of time, not afterwards - perhaps the Order of Whispers secured the information in some daring espionage at some point, and would kindly like to share for once. Whatever would make it work would be good.

<lecturemode>

But I’ve said it before: everyone -absolutely everyone - should make it their business to succeed. That means repeating yourself, ad infinitum, with patience and respect, how to run the lanes and the regulators. That means open communication between commanders, and in lieu of a commander being present, someone on each lane communicating strategy. This means listening to those people who are giving instruction, and doing your best to act on what they say. It means having a look at Dulfy or having a look at these forums if it helps understanding of how to play the event. It also means not ragging on people who haven’t done that, and accepting people make mistakes; not rubbing people’s faces in it when it doesn’t work (because you must be a complete fool if you think that will ensure your win).

We all have a common goal here. It would be useful not to forget that.

ESO brought me back to GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ceridwen.6703

Ceridwen.6703

At least ESO doesn’t have the horror stories about support that Archeage has, like the ones about mass bannings of innocent people. One reason was because their automated banning system saw people rubberbanding because of lag and banned them for teleporting. Archeage’s support won’t even let you call them if you get banned. You have to use the ticket system, which could take weeks.

I remember one post on that forum during the time of mass banning, where someone was loading the game for the first time and was asking on the forum for some tips for new people. He posted in the thread later to say, “I tried to log on and found out I’ve been banned. I haven’t even played yet”

Before I seared ArcheAge with mind bullets and burned it into an ashpile, I used to travel up and down on my little farm wagon playing “Spot the Bot.” It got quite easy after a while. But AA was terrible with support, terrible with so many other things, too (except horses and gliders). ’tis a game that hates its players and wants to torture them at any and all opportunities. The last time I contacted them was to ask them to remove all my details from their systems so I could detach myself from the whole sorry mess and never look back (except on odd occasions like this, where I can enjoy the weight-off-the-shoulders feeling!).

I did Beta for ESO and have never wanted to step foot in its darkened halls ever again. It made me mildly irritated, to say the least.

No, GW2 is still where it’s at, even with my characters voicing all the other PCs on the map, with squiffy guild communications, with whatever other havoc the last patch wrought! I’m still quite a happy camper here!

Official Feedback Thread: Episode 3 -- A Crack in the Ice

in Living World

Posted by: Ceridwen.6703

Ceridwen.6703

I had a bash through this yesterday. Love the new map’s art, love the bonding sesh with Aurene. Broke my bank to make the mini, but it’s adorable. Please ensure everything I salvage from rares for two weeks is ectos, to make up for the cost, and also that I find T6 leather just by looking at dolyaks. Thanks!

Story was okay, but we did the disguise thing in Ember Bay, and it was interesting then, but shouldn’t reappear quite so soon. Also, my character is a mesmer. I’m disappointed she’s not able to pull an illusion out of her behind for the svanir disguise bit, but I suppose that wouldn’t be fair to others - except I recall in one part of the PS, Lady Wi disguises Tybalt as Demmi, so it’s not out of the realms of possiblity for another mesmer to be about providing this option for players (and any mesmer player could opt to do their own, for flavour). Less junk in the inventory and all that.

Speaking of which, I’ll echo others: enough with the multiple currencies and collectables in each (new) map. I’m now refusing to buy another bag or bank slot on principle.

Having to re-do collection parts to revisit parts of the map another day is not cool:

The Svanir armour, if the mesmer suggestion is not acceptable, should only take up one inventory slot as a whole (think someone mentioned this in this thread already), particularly once you’ve already completed that part of the chapter. If it is dropped thereafter, then it should be available from a nearby NPC (along the lines of - "hey, we collected this stuff after you swung by. Feel free to borrow it again if you want back up there!"). Players still can ’t use the armour if they want to complete the heart again, but it’s there if they want to talk to the heart vendor, and the pieces don’t need to drop from the mobs and take up more inventory space again.

The elixir buff is something we should be able to apply once made, or heck, even buy for a small bit of unbound magic (or better yet, plain old gold, silver or copper), once you’re completed that part of the story, or made the elixir. I’d argue it should be free from an NPC of your choice after story completion, but I’m nice like that.

Mobs are a little eager from a distance, and a bit crazy around the winterberry bushes. I’m sure those spiders don’t really covet the berries, and they’re just being mean. Foo on them, I say.

The quaggan at the hot spring is hilarious. I’m formally requesting this quaggan join the new guild as my personal cheerleader ("ooo, you’re going to your death...s-o-o sad"* can follow me all day), since Braham is being a baby cat about the guild right now. Also my commander sucks at explaining stuff, but the V.O. was good (sylvari female) - and I did laugh at her Svanir impression. I’d love a video composite of all the V.O. Svanir impressions - it’s a bit soon, I imagine, but does anyone have something on Soundcloud or YouTube for that?

Lastly, I went back and saved a baby snow leopard.Touching, as in RL, those cats need all the help they can get.

*I paraphrase.

EDIT: Also, love Marjory and Braham’s outfits and the new glider/backpack combo in the gem shop. I simply, however, cannot afford them right now - will they be permanent, or at least, come back regularly?
