The maps are empty....

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hannelore.8153

Even on heavily populated servers, many maps are simply completely barren. This is because the game lacks an underflow system that merges loosely populated maps between servers, which would solve the problem across the board. But its not likely that Anet would ever do this because people would be upset about not being able to contribute guild influence while in underflow even if the game would be alot more fun, and seem alot less barren overall.

No matter how big your server is, the game world is just too large to fill out with people.

New Expansion, Same Issue: Hairstyles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

I don’t get why this is a thing. Typically men and women have little cross over with hair styles across time and differing cultures. And somehow this is sexist? Also, almost all the hairstyles already in-game have little to no crossover, so why is this a problem now?

Can you grow your hair out in real life and chose any hairstyle you want? Unless you’re military or in certain lines of work, the answer is most likely, “yes”.

Yes, games often have less freedom than in real life, and that’s rediculous. It goes against the entire reason of playing a fantasy game to begin with. Arbitrary restrictions just for the sake of being arbitrary are not good.

As for why this is specifically a problem, alot of people play this game who are metal fans, etc. and creating those kinds of looks is currently impossible.

As you already noted in your post …

They said a long time ago they will not add anything that looks like Cantha, maybe because of political reasons. The Canthan district of Divinity’s Reach was removed before release and replaced with a giant hole (later the Crown Pavilion).

That said I really, really hope the Dominion of Winds appears soon! Mainly because the map space for their city and starter map is already present.

Humanoid armor =/= Charr armor

Actually the in-game gears are based upon that concept art. For example, the weapons are the Legionnaire exotic pistols.

The issue is more that the artists aren’t the best at turning concept art into 3D. This can be seen with many things in the living story, especially Taimi’s artwork, where she comes out looking completely differently in game (like a doll), while in the concept art she looks more like a short young woman.

If you look at all the Orr concept art, it looks nothing like the actual buildings.

Doom, doom, doom, doom…

I’m not happy with alot in the patch (mainly town cloths), but this constant “Fix the game, it’s unplayable” thing is very overblown…

Going to sleep.

you should probably go in the bug section of this forum :P

Have a nice read, some of the bug in game are there since the start and yet, they are not fixed. Poor maintenance..

ANet is a game company. It is not cost effective for a company to devote resources to fixing bugs. This is because the majority of players only respond to constant new content (even if temporary) and to have something to do, a fancy carrot to chase, and only a small number of people will care that bugs got fixed.

We all need to just accept that were are the minority in online games, and always will be because that is just how people are. They flock to hype, flash and dramatics, and will only stay with something as long as they have a new “rewarding” time-sink.

In fact, MMOs are deliberately designed on this principle. I recommend that you do some reading up about Skinner’s Box and the true origins of games like WoW.

They will only consider that something is wrong when they are losing money, and that doesn’t make them evil, it just makes them a company.

At the end of the day the game is a business, not a toy.

If we’re gonna tell it like it is, then it’s more that it robs you and the OP of your chance to get that trait without paying for it. I mean, let’s not make it about players if it’s about the trait.

I never said anything about any trait, especially since I just purchase them. I actually care about the experience of the game and when it is being harmed.

Just adding the trait to the defend event will not restore it.

Tell me, would you like to see all events in maps completed at all times, and run around for hours with nothing to do because its all done?

As for NA/EU Guesting/Transfers, I recall reading that they were unifying the datacenters for the China release, but it was a work in progress.

When did addons become permissible?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Just make sure to always keep an eye on people using addons. The good ones are now working with ArenaNet to honor their rules, but there are still alot out that that do not care about the rules (these are what people use to make bots, etc.).

Anything that isn’t allowed basically reads the games memory, because the game keeps a large amount of data cached in memory on the client side to improve server performance (despite knowing this is a security risk). For example, your game knows everything there is to know about the players around you, like what armor they are wearing, if someone is willing to look for it.

So even though DPS meter are allowed, make sure you vet people who vet you, because this game has always had exploiters and always will.

So, tengu playable? please?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

What sucks is… everything is already in place for Tengu to be added.

They have a similar design to the Charr with their stances, tail, etc. so you would just recycle 99% of the armors and make new cultural armor. They’d also need new cultural weapons, but ArenaNet makes weapon skins all the time.

They already have reserved space for their main city next to Lion’s Arch, and their beginner’s map next to Caledon Forest. And due to ArenaNet’s rule of “six maps per texture set” they could just re-use the same texture set as Southsun Cove, spice it up a little and make that the final (high level) zone of the Tengu lands by having the Tengu fleeing to it from the Destroyers or something like that.

Merge Claw Island and the rest of the Sea of Sorrows into a few other maps too, just make them mostly underwater so it doesn’t seem out of place. It would also give us a good chance to be introduced to Bubbles, the water dragon.

There’s also another unused space near Timberline Falls, and between Rata Sum and The Grove (though this is currently occupied by a copy of Cursed Shore).

wardrobe system question

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Transmutation will not use items as skins anymore. When you obtain an item, the skin is automatically added to your wardrobe. The skin is completely independant of any gear you use it on, and no item has to be wasted when transmuting.

For example, right now it is:
Generic Greatsword + Cool Greatsword = Cool Greatsword
But now it will be:
Generic Greatsword = Cool Greatsword

This works the same as the current achievement reward skins.

64 bit install directory?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

I’ll try to explain it that this game has no installation. The installer is just a bootstrap. in reality you have two files Gw2.exe and Gw2-64.exe, which are the 32-bit and 64-bit versions respectively, and when run these download all the neccessary files to two folders, bin and bin64, and a huge (30GB+) data file, Gw2.dat, as well as a few files to Application Data for machine-specific configuration.

Of course, that probably made no sense to anyone, so I’ll put it simply, to not have any problems download the installer, rename it to Gw2-64.exe and put it in “My Documents\GW2” or something (as this folder is always 100% accessible on any computer regardless of security restrictions), put your Gw2.dat file with it and then run it to download the missing files and launch the game.

There is no registry usage, its completely portable. All it does for “installation” is put some files in Application Data as I said earlier.

If you can’t understand this then get someone who does to do it for you.

Please, do not make low level zones any easier. If they were any easier people would just sneeze on mobs and kill them. Its already pretty rediculous.

The current downscaling may be flawed, but its all that is keeping lv80s from having complete run over of newbie maps, and only just. Whenever an event daily comes around even that limitation goes to the birds fairly quickly.

By asking for it to be “fixed”, ANet will weaken low areas for the fifth time…

Upcoming Stat Changes in the Q3 Balance Update

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

ArenaNet, you are going in the wrong direction!

You need to nerf baseline durations, not the duration of the increases. Stats should be required, not just have everyone running around with an average.

Now you’ll have people with full Expertise only doing 7.5sec bleed while someone with a build nothing related to conditions does 5sec. The problem is that the base conditions come too often and too long, not the increases.

Why do you think almost no one even takes Condition Duration? All existing condi builds are built almost entirely around Condition Damage alone.

My dumb suggestions:
- Change Condition Duration to an absolute; i.e, having 50% means that your conditions last only 50% of their normal time, not 150%.
- Give players a base Condition Duration(Expertise) of 50%, and make it able to increase to 150% with the use of Expertise and duration% gear.

This will put conditions back in the hands of condition users, not random joe builds.

Also almost no one uses the new foods outside of raids and WvW because it takes too many resources to craft something that only lasts for 30-45 minutes, we’re talking up to five gold for some of the benefits which is too much.

At least introduce lower level versions of the foods to save costs.

A – there will be lower levels of the food and utilities. Nowhere did they say that they were removing non level 80 food/utilities.

B – This change will help enforce needing teh stats. Now you actually have to build for condition duration if you want it, instead of having stupidly easy ways to hit 100% duration and then going tanky and just kiting while you outlasted their cleanses. This is literally what this change is implementing, so how can you be upset over it?

You cannot even come close to hitting the cap with Expertise unless you have traitline bonuses to certain conditions and those are class-specific. Even with full Expertise, Giver’s weapons, Nightmare runes, Sigil of Malice, and the best Condition Duration food, my Necro could not hit the cap (~97%).

Now there will be no chance of anyone hitting the cap, in fact we will all be pulled back down towards people who do not have Expertise in their builds, even if we are running with it we’ll be lucky for a 50% gain, so it will be akin to running a maximum Precision build with no Ferocity in regards to DPS output.

Its not that hard to understand how bad a nerf this is.

Sure, it works for classes that specialise in some condition (i.e, Poison on Ranger or Thief, Burning on Guardian or Berserker), but it does not work for classes that don’t specialise, they end up having to stack everything just to compete in condi builds, so you might as well just switch back to power builds at that point.

Also most foods that they have added in the last few years are lv80 only, there are no low-level alternatives available for them and its unlikely that there will be for any new foods going forward. I was not talking about the foods they are changing in this update specifically, but all new foods especially in the expansions.

Suggestion: SteamOS client.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

This may come as a suprise to some, but a Mac, LInux, and SteamOS port would all be more or less the same thing. This is because they all use an underlying Unix framework and OpenGL graphics. The major differences are on the libraries used, but from a development standpoint that’s just making certain code sections disabled when they are not compiling for the relevant platform.

Unix and OpenGL is actually the most common configuration in the world oustide of Windows PCs, XBox, and a few other exceptions. Even most mobile devices use a small Unix kernel (typically Linux) and OpenGL ES.

The reason game developers don’t do this? Testing. Testing requires that the physically purchase the machines for testing purposes. This means alot of money spent on various configurations of a system for every OS, and man hours to test it.

Porting is almost never the problem; making sure it works is. Thats why bugs don’t easily get fixed in things like the Mac client (which is Wine-based).

There’s also the cost overhead of developing an OpenGL engine. Currentlythey rely on Wine’s Direct3D to OpenGL layer, and Valve has one of these too, but theirs is far simpler and probably wouldn’t work for a game like GW2.

It was changed to bring condi in line with power.

Before you say “just make power food better”. That’s power creep. We don’t need power creep.

They didn’t bring the -Condition Duration food/buffs in line.

Either nerf those foods, or buff the other foods to reduce Direct Damage by 20%.

You really do not want to open that door…

Power is way easier to protect against than condi damage in a competative enviroment.

It really is too high though-ArenaNet has made it clear that bonuses that high should only appear on traits, runes and sigils (gear) and not on food.

I’d reduce them to -10-12% maximum or so.

Graphic boost & DX11 or 12?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Why do people think graphics API has anything to actually do with graphics ? DirectX 11 and 12 are APIs, nothing more, they provide an interface to the programmer, and don’t determine what kind of content you can create.

Even if they completely rewrote the game the graphics would not just magically look better, this is a myth that is used to sell bad games.

All you’d really gain is better CPU usage from thread-safe GPU model.

This would require anet to actually work on their engine and improve it. Something they have never shown any interest in doing. So no, it’s not gonna happen unfortunately.

They have massively improved the engine over the years, at launch the game could barely handle world bosses with 10-20 players, much less the kind of content that was introduced with HoT and LS3 and now PoF.

Even just Tequatl and Shatterer required significant internal retuning.

Yes, how dare they implement major quality of life changes that have long been seen as “dropping the ball” at game release! While you are right that there are still many issues to address, they first have to address the major issues affecting all areas of the game, not just a given game mode.

On top of that, you say that they are not doing anything for grouping, yet by the end of the year they have said that guilds will span every server. The game will no longer be dominated by a handful of large guilds, because small guilds will finally be able to build up a decent amount of influence and compete…

I don’t know why people seem to confuse “you didn’t do what I want” with “you didn’t do anything useful to anyone”.

Besides, the whole UI is garbage. Requesting specific enhancements for it is kind of silly when the whole thing needs to be trashed and overhauled.

Difficulty in the Heart of Magumma

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

1) Don’t go glass, try to have at least one tanky stat. While you can definitely play these maps on Berserker, it is something that takes alot of practice, and you should not be running around on glassy gear if you aren’t prepared for a steep learning curve because that is the whole point of using glassy gear, isn’kitten

2) Many mobs evade or avoid damage, conditions do a higher DPS in these scenarios. Relying on physical damage alone will make you vulnerable during these times and may even count you out of potential rallies when you’re downed.

3) You need to use CC. You MUST use CC here. In fact, I would say that out of everything else, carrying a decent amount of both soft and hard CC with you will determine the outcome of the battles. For example my scepter/warhorn necro cripples, blinds, chills and dazes everything so she can fight ten Chak at once, while my GS warrior has a very difficult time when she gets swarmed by mob patrols.

4) Try not to play alone. Just having one other player with you at all times is enough to complete 90% of the content including all but a few of the hardest HPs and many of the events that are meant for a minimum of five players.

Megaserver is fine. Servers are what is broken, and it is time they went away. Maybe you guys haven’t been in the MMO scene long enough to understand what it is like constantly having to pay alot of money to transfer servers just to have someone to talk to in the game. When I started GW2, I chose Jade Quary (a very high population server) so that this would not happen in this game, but even it was barren.

I will not ever miss the server concept, I hope it dies and never comes back.

That said, Megaserver does have some issues that need ironed out. Most of the game was simply not designed for such large numbers, and increasing the amount of zerg content added to the game is not the answer. Hopefully ANet can come up with some worthwhile fixes to the many issues in the coming months.

Condition Damage Update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

As far as I know, condition damage is only limited because that is the way it was coded in the server design and the network protocol – the 25 stack limit. It has very, very little to do with game balance and I even remember a developer saying this. They can’t just fix it because it is a hard coded problem that requires an overhaul to solve.

That said, the stack limit is just fine on players and single mobs. The issue comes from tough trash and bosses (veterans, elites, champions and legendary). If they ever did manage to fix it so that you could add more than 25 stacks, the amount of stacks the mob could handle should be based upon its rank. I see no problem with up to 125+ stacks on a legendary given that people with power builds can be doing anywhere from 20-40k of direct damage to it per second in a mere party of five.

World bosses in particular should be balanced around a minimum of 5 conditioners.

Please Don't Forget Underwater Exploration

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

People hate water in this game because its badly implemented.

And its badly implemented because the devs just never went back and fixed it. The most cited problem is the fact that most skills don’t work reliably underwater or simply don’t work at all, which is just a lack of dev attention.

They’ve been becoming more lax with it over time too; first we lost water weapon skins in new skin sets, then many skills which make no sense to not work underwater are simply disabled for no reason (see Revenant).

The worst part is, alot of this could be fixed by using predefined skill templates e.g standardizing how a PBAoE skill works underwater, but given how many patches they’ve had to dedicate just to fixing tooltips and broken skills its clear that alot of their code is copy and paste not polymorphism and inheritance.

I mean, it took them something like four years just to standardize behaviors such as boon conversion to conditions with predefined tables.

I’ve given up on them ever doing anything about it.

(This post is mostly directed at very old players.)

I’d like to remind people that 3-4 years ago, we were sitting here on these same forums talking about how we were in the worst storyline ever, completing random mediocre objectives all around Tyria while chasing around some crazy Sylvari we didn’t know who apparently had a plan but everything seemed random and unconnected and pretty much all the same complaints as now.

The storylines have issues, but you need to not look at the past through rose-tinted glasses; LS1 was widely regarded by the community as a very long, very convoluted and completely nonsensical storyline that many feel had to be utterly abandoned (by the awakening of Mordremoth) just to solve its multitude of problems.

The first few years of the game piggybacked on the hype of a few very well designed, and very well executed episodes like Battle for Lion’s Arch.

Say the name “Scarlet” to yourself, shudder a bit, then be more open going forward.

Enough with the Gemstore Skins/Outfits

this is not f2p game
kkthxbye

The business models are relatively the same. The difference is the initial cost allow for the devs to avoid doing more gameplay invasive cash shop items in order to generate revenue. So the balance between cash shop items(in this case cosmetics) and cosmetics via content will still always lean towards cash shop similar to F2Ps.

Also this game is not F2P, it costs $50 to buy it. That is alot of money. To put it into perspective, in some countries that is all you get paid each week.

To put it into another perspective, single player games range from $50-60 and usually yield 30-60 hours worth of gameplay. GW2 being $50 initially with no other costs, means after 30-60 hours the initial cost of the game is irrelevant.

Single player games are not widely played in all countries, generally only the countries to where they are localised. However, MMOs are. This is because of their high return on the investment that makes them suitable for low income populations, particularly since games like GW2 allow you to convert gold to gems, meaning that low income players can still manage to buy gemstore items with just time alone.

Another reason is that MMOs are far easier to understand even if you can’t read any of the text. All you need is someone to tell you what buttons to push, and you can make it through almost any content and eventually memorize all the skill names according to the effect that they have in game. I have had friends that do not read any language supported by the game very good, yet still managed to run dungeons with me without any kind of problem whatsoever, because they learned and adapted by apperance and effect rather than descriptions and words. Its actually quite fascinating.

But if you think that’s cheap just because of those reasons, you are still wrong. Because I’ve invited many players to this game, and out of those, only one has joined. The stated reason is always the steep initial cost, for a game that they do not know if they will enjoy. Indeed, I have quite a few friends on my list that quit forever at 500-1000 achivement points after spending all of that money.

When you buy a single player game, you know exactly what you are getting. Especially since its usually a sequal to a game you’ve already played before.

You say that a certain amount of time makes the cost irrelevant. However, consider that most potential players do not ever get to that amount of time, because they do not ever buy the game to begin with and instead play some F2P MMO or MOBA. Then add that to the count of players lost early on as well.

Now your arguement still holds a bit of water… except for one thing. The most important thing of all: MMOs are a social game. When you do not buy the game, or when you quit early on, it doesn’t just affect you, it screws everyone who wanted to play with you. Therefor the quality of their purchase has been reduced as well. Sure, they can go solo all the content because GW2 is friendly to that. Or they can go make new friends to replace you. But its not you, and their game experience won’t be all that it could’ve been, and they may end up quitting as well.

That’s the secret behind MMOs: Player retention at all costs, even the initial price. Farming, RNG gambling, etc. exist precisely to create addictions.

TL;DR: This is not an F2P game.

It is most likely one of the hidden jumping puzzles. These do not have any map objectives in them, nor any markers, so they will not appear in any way, shape, or form unless you have physically been to them.

I recommend doing all of the Jumping puzzle achievments (except the WvW and Not So Secret), and Dive master, except for the final dive in Not So Secret. This will likely indirectly get you all of the hidden areas for world exploration.

Sorry, but ember farm is terrible. You have no place interrupting other peoples ability to progress through events, no matter how justified you feel.

There’s a cross-map champ-train now if you want to farm, do that instead.

Its ANet’s fault however for making it so that things do not progress properly if the game is played in the correct way, but that doesn’t justify arbitrary dictation.

Instead of blaming on everyone else, ask ANet to fix it.

I already wrote my views on this subject in another thread:

Defend events should not exist. They just result in temples being open all of the time. I would much rather see that they remove these events, and make it so that the temple cannot be defended and the risen just overrun it.

Imagine being a new player who is on his way to kill Zhaitan after completing the whole of his personal story over a month’s time. Are you going to kill the Champion Risen Giant, Champion Eye of Zhaitan, and finally the guardian of the gate that your vision from the Pale Tree foretold? Nope, cause defend events.

Might as well just retexture the entire zone now since Orr has been cleansed. The fact that the Pact now holds permanent control over all locations shows it.

So much time wasted

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

It’d be great if ANet changed the map switching system to how it is in WvW, so if we want to switch maps we just que for it instead of spamming “Join in X.” I’m pretty sure people have been saying this for a while, but the devs have been silent on this problem…

It took them two years just to fix the queuing system for WvW to take players in the order they originally queued up instead of the most recent/random ones.

They clearly can’t do queues (no offense guys).

The best part of the game is still when you go through all of this effort, find a decent map on DT, SW, VB, AB, TD or DS, spend an hour doing all the events and then right at the end get a five second lag spike that disconnects you and you lose everything. No map slot, no event credit, no rewards, nothing. Being in a party helps but there’s still no reserved spots for party members after all this time, you still have to sit there and spam “join in map” over and over praying for someone else to DC.

Super mega ultra fun stuff.

How did we _Actually_ Kill Zhaitan?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

SPOILERS

Believe it or not, we were actaully able to defeat Zhaitan because of the efforts of Kudu and the Inquest, not just the good guys. As explained in Crucible of Eternity, the Inquest were experimenting with dragon energies, to the point of creating their own dragon champions, and Zojja was able to use this information to build the MEGA-LIT cannon and various other weaponry seen in the Ruins of Arah story.

We know that it worked because we were able to kill every single thing before that, and the elder dragons aren’t some supernatural entities like the lore suggests, they are just embodiments of magic (for example, Zhaitan is a necromancer, not Undead). Think of them like the greatest of all wizards, being able to consume, control, and leak magic on a level comparable to forces of nature.

Most of this has been explained in dungeons and LS season 1. It is currently unknown why the dragons just went to sleep when the ancient races fought them, but remember they only had access to magic, not technology, unlike the Asura and Charr. Alot changes in thousand of years due to technological advancement.

ArenaNet has confirmed that Zhaitan met the reaper, so to speak.

SPECULATION:

However, it has been speculated by the fan-base that this is a BAD thing, and that we were not supposed to do this and that the ancient races actually could’ve killed the elder dragons but decided to let them live of some reason that we don’t know. In other words, many theories believe we just messed things up.

More to be revealed in the coming LS season.

[SPOILERS] Season 2 is still better

in Living World

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

My big beef with season 3 is that, once again, they tried to put too much of the lore in the open world, just as with core and HoT. Yes, making us do the hearts does encourage us to accidentally encounter the lore this time around, but it still doesn’t ensure it compared to say, putting us in an instance for it.

This is alot of why people feel the season was disjointed; after playing the story go back to every map, talk to every NPC, listen to every conversation. You only catch a very small amount of it during the first playthrough.

For example, its stated that the reason we [non-Human races] are helping the Humans and their kingdom is because the White Mantle are a threat to all the races in Tyria because of what they have done to the bloodstone. This is why we find Unbound Magic as far east as Bitterfrost Frontier, but because this isn’t explained very well in the story itself, people assume its from killing two dragons.

Now they’re crazed magic-hungry lunatics and there’s still two other bloodstones out there, did you think they were just going to stop at one?

And there’s bloodstone elementals invading Ascalon and the Charr don’t care?

This is largely why season 3 focused on completely eliminating the threat of the White Mantle, Caudacus, Lazarus, Jade Constructs, or anything else that could make use of this magic to be a danger to Tyria; because sometimes we face threats other than the dragons and they just kinda woke up halfway through our efforts and that is why it all started to become a convoluted mess.

But for anyone who doesn’t understand the whole point of LS3, I’ll explain it: Killing two dragons made things bad. Bloodstone double bad. White Mantle triple bad. Mursaat quadruple bad. Unbound magic and pop-up ley lines all over the world is basically accelerating the degeneration we caused in PS/LS2/HoT.

The planet is on the verge of bursting at the seams. Make sense now?

Now, Balthazar.

Rebinding it doesn’t take away the need to constantly press it. How much do you play per day? Because it isn’t, and you’ll pay for it a few years down the road.

Does GW2 have 5.1 sound?

in Audio

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Whether a game supports surround or not has nothing to do with the game itself, as it is an inherint feature of DirectSound3D when your audio is properly configured from the Windows control panel, or whatever app is provided with your card.

Keep in mind that Creative cards are OpenAL, not DSound3D based. This means that you may not get all features of the card when running DirectX games.

Also, there is no such thing as “artificial” surround on a headset, headphones always fully replicate the illusion of 3D sound when in “Headphones” mode. In fact, buying a surround headset is completely pointless because Human hearing is stereo and you have basically wasted money on a cheap marketing gimmick.

The End of Transmutations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hannelore.8153

Hannelore.8153

Guild Wars 2 is still one of the cheapest MMOs regarding premium content, even if its still a cash grab and that bar just keeps getting higher (the toxic armors are horribly overpriced given that they’re only one part). Its also one of the few that you can buy premium content for gold in, so that’s a good thing too.

But, are you really afraid of spending $10 on 25 transmutation crystals, which is enough for two whole characters (including lots of weapons), when it costs you that much to eat at McDonalds or something? I don’t really understand. And the people without jobs will have the time to grind the gold anyway.

If you’re that concerned about it, use transmutation stones, you get them for free for completing many maps, especially cities. Its not hard to build up to a stack of 100 of them just from exploring maps, and you can use them for level 78 exotic berserker gear which is suitable for 99% of all content in the game including dungeons as you only lose a few stat points and armor points. Also, many good condition damage exotics are available at level 78 and below as well.

You can also buy many skins that don’t need crystals to apply. You even get some of them from your achivement rewards.

Ignore your starting area. find the central hub where everything converges, then you can easily access all areas of the map without much problems.

Don’t attempt map objectives without wallows and updraft. You should also have at least a week of roaming experience on the map, too. Otherwise, you’ll find it extremely frustrating to find things if you haven’t already memorized most of the travel routes, amount and type of enemies in each zone, etc.

We definitely need render distance limiting, you can see way too far in this game, and it makes me lag in jump puzzles with high altitude and whatnot.

Skill effect reduction isn’t needed, they just need to obey culling settings. Currently, projectiles and skill effects do not honor whether the player is actually visible to you or not – they are just always shown – which is a major source of lag.

Would also like for AoE skills to be autocastable on current target.
