So i was wondering, why collecting 5 legendaries give the same amount of AP and NO title compared to having twice the same legendary? That seems to make no sense to me
Because the others cried harder. You need to cry with more passion
The thing is.., the lower levels are boring now. Without traits leveling is nothing but a race to 80.
Well, I’m sure ANet will be more than happy to subsist with just your semi-casual gem purchases.
Others think that a company of ANet size, able to develop the GW2 we knew before release, can do way much better. The game just feels like an orange juice machine with no more oranges. Squeezing and squeezing those last drops.
Until real improvement is seen, people who loved the game at release but are unhappy with the current direction (and not a single particular change but the whole direction for the last year) will keep complaining at the forums.
Another warriors thread… this one more biased than another.-
Warrior exceed at combat. Period. It is the easiest class to see its advantages. Just equip it and auto attack. Other classes has other goodies that are harder to see but it doesn’t mean they are not on par with Warrior.
Warriors are not best dps, are not best bunker, are not best at range (?), are not the best at evading, are not the best at escaping, are not the best at jumping puzzles (why not), they don’t exceed at everything as you think. They are good overall, that’s what they do, they fight and fight well; its obvious.
PS: I would trade my warrior downed skills for any other class any other day of the week. I HATE vengeance. It’s horrible.
PS2: Don’t ask ANet for balance or even coherence. One patch, warriors are fine so we will just tweak their support traits. Second patch, warriors are OP! we have to nerf hammer… yeah right… they are a) listening to too much whining or b) clueless about their own game… can’t tell which one is worst.

The Norn deer horned helmet for lvl 80 is one of the best designed helms in any MMO. Actually I love of the Norn cultural helms for heavies. IMHO is the mediums that could use some work… the ninja mask is not very Nornish lol
There are two general types of posts going on in this thread. I’m not going to argue that one side is being silly and one is being level-headed.
1) Emotion driven.
“I feel like ANet just spit in my face.”
“My human T3 has lost its prestige and exclusivity.”2) Logic driven.
“Your human T3 armor has not been devalued at all.”
“What’s the problem with opening up cultural armors for all races?”The emotion driven posts are coming from people who are upset, and it should be easy to see why, even if you are not one of these people. To me, many of these people don’t expect their post to change anything, they just want to hear something from ANet about why this was done.
The logic driven posts are coming from people who want to flesh out whether there is really a problem here, outside of perceived insult. It seems that some of these posters also want to use this opportunity to show ANet that players would welcome more access to cultural armor between races.
To all the emotional posters:
ANet has clearly shifted their position on cultural armor exclusivity, I think we can all agree on that. Maybe the best thing you can do is calmly voice your disappointment here, where there is a chance that the decision makers will take a look, then do your best to enjoy your T3 set as much as you did prior to the gem store update. Do this for yourself, for how much you like the way the armor looks, not for how hard it may have been for you to to acquire. To all the logical posters:
Maybe now is not a good time. Yes, some of the perceived slights being voiced here may be a bit over the top from your perspective, but just because a poster is emotional does not make their perspective invalid. Try to understand the sentiment instead of deconstructing the arguments. Some of us have lots of T3 armor and don’t feel slighted in the least bit, but that’s not really relevant to the feelings of others.
Who are you to separate people into 2 biased groups that would fit your personal opinion?
“emotionals” and “logic driven”, could you be more obvious please? Why not players who don’t like the new patch, and people who doesn’t care about this game?
If you like the change, then you are with the people who like it, period. Not with “logic driven” users… I heard about people being entitled but man you have a record now.
There is a lot of posts that gave many good reasons why the “new” armors are a bad idea and are not written in an emotional way.
a box full of disappointment.
ANet provides the tools. The community provides the demand.
This is where you are wrong…
ANet provides the tools. The environment provides the demand. The community responds…
The ball for a more diverse/complex game is on a ANet side. One build to rule them all is what makes this game flawed and basic in my book.
Is it really the environment that you mean or rather artificial restrictions though? I mean if the environment inflicts conditions doesnt that create the need for condition removal? if the environment inflicts damage doesnt that create the need for healing / crowd control?
The fact that a full zerk player can be as supportive as a full “insert whatever support gear you have in mind” proves the support role flawed and it drags the game design along with it. Dungeon design and combat design is pretty shallow and basic. This is the easiest MMORPG out there (and a medium to hardcore ARCADE depending on how much you solo).
As long as a full team of zerks can endure conditions and bypass those difficulties then the environment is not demanding a support role like you propose so I stand correct.
Environment demands nothing that is why it leaves room for full zerk teams to exceed.
The environment demands, in GW2 it demands nothing, so the community respond with the most devastating gear cause defense is not necessary/demanded.
It doesn’t prove the support role is flawed at all, it just proves ANet right in the fact they wanted players to be able to support, control and DPS.
I wish these people wanting their zero DPS cleric builds to be good would realise they’re playing the wrong game and the unholy trinity is that way.
Yes it does. First MMORPG ever, Ultima Online; already had this concept. One character could do anything if trained properly. He could heal, buff, be a warrior a wizard, all in one. It was changed for the sake of team play. GW2 just went 17 years backwards in game designing.
Playing Wildstar
GW2: Morphing to WOW – 34% complete
Hah, I’d still be playing this game if it were anything like WoW. It’s giving itself a virus and it’s more like 78% complete.
They started with the grinding and flashy-glowing skins… LA certainly looks ugly now. Lets see what’s next on Azeroth, I mean Tyria.
glass builds were favored by every single release ANet made…
I cross my fingers, this is the way anet should’ve been doing this game. Hope we get many more content like this tower. Lots of fun.
They are not trying to loose players if they are improving the quality of life for new players.
What you consider something wrong, its an amazing improvement for new players.
I recently brought 3 friends to start playing GW2 and you know how hard is to explain why they are seeing a huge raid of lvl 80s running in circles in a lvl 10 map in a way that doesn’t make the game look bad? Or doing their first dungeon… “now we run and stack, smash, run and stack, smash, etc…” yeah dungeons are fun!.
real life temporary content
ill give them 1 star for trying to be consistent
Yes a lot of helmets remove facial hair from your character. Might be because of clipping issues
I prefer the clipping rather than the reduced manliness in a Norn!
You know how to shave like a man?

I really enjoy bear form. What were you fighting? I’ve had no trouble using bear form solo against Veteran mobs, or anything else I might solo. I even use it in big group fights against champion mobs in events, and have never died, or had to worry about my health. It’s a little sketchy in dungeons, but I’ve used it vs a solo dungeon silver/gold non-boss effectively, as well.
Im a lvl 80 warrior with mace, shield, 30 defense 30 tactics and I can solo veterans plus 3 to 4 mobs my own lvl. I rarely get killed in PVE; but whenever I see my health poll dropping at, lets say, a 5% per second rate because I have many conditions/mobs on me and pop the bear form, it automatically starts droping at a 10%-15% per second.
If you’re going in expecting to do more than you can in your normal form, maybe that’s not a great idea. I certainly wouldn’t call the forms useless, though.
Of course I expected it to be better than what I can regularly do. It’s an elite skill that removes everything I can do for a new set of skills (and no utility or healng skills) with short duration and looong cooldown. It would be wrong to expect otherwise.
Point is, the skill is not raising my stats but giving me a fixed set of stats weaker than myself. For that, it’s useless.
The best way to implement ascended armor?
Not implementing it to be honest…
but if they must do it, then I’d say something similar as we used to infuse our armors back in GW1.
Make it part of our next personal quest (solo or group instanced, hard missions) and “infuse” them at the end.
that’s how implement something as part of content, bottle neck it for people already at “that phase of the game” and its not a grind or tedious task that nobody likes.
Also… its an incentive for people to purchase the “next expansion” (if there will be any) giving ANet extra profit besides the gem store.
I just took a look…
All I can say is that the aliens are taking our weapons and replacing them with Christmas decorations.
I mean… its been a long time since I haven seen anything so horrible for a game concept art,… probably since WOW’s Burning Crusade.
Simple comment:
This is not like GW1 system
kthxbye
This game is becoming the icon if inconsistency. About to break the record set by politicians.
I keep reading this part does this mean traits will be unlocked when you level now or do we still have to do the chores.
Regarding unlocking traits, the New Player Experience will effectively be exactly the same, except in the way it’s presented to players.
But but but a few patches ago you completely destroyed leveling experience and now you want to bring it back without reverting what you did wrong? im confused
In my case it’s quite the opposite. I bound the key to manually sheathe the weapon as soon as I’m done with combat. I feel stupid standing still with no enemies around, just a racoon and a bunch of butterflies and for some reason my character still has his weapon and angry face on.
That said. I understand you since this is a matter of taste and personal opinion. I hope ANet has time to add this QoL.
they can’t gemstore you for fixing issues.
Problem: Traits are too complicated for new players
Solution 1:
Explain traits better ingameSolution 2: Make them even more complicated by instead of visiting 1 vendor they must now complete 65 different tasks! Tasks that
- are 25 levels higher than the tier it belongs to
- require you to do the Pv? that you otherwise would avoid at all costs
- risk facing ganking hordes
- require going into dungeons under-prepared
- will take hours of map completion for one trait
- involve waiting hours for events in map (thanks to megaservers)
- are downright too bugged to complete
- you get to do over and over again for each alt
either that or
- spend the amount of gold that only someone with an existing level 80 would have +
- spend the amount of skillpoints only someone who’s had a level 80 for many many months would have
Mission: Appeal to New Players Complete!
This pretty much sums it all.
I truly don’t understand why ANet insist to keep this system. I can only think of someone trying to save his own skin at the company instead of recognizing he did it wrong to begin with. There is no other logical explanation.
Just asking, but what type of macro might people find useful, assuming it didn’t violate the TOS? I ask because I’m thinking of a macro in this situation as an automated key sequence, but I can’t think of a situation where I’d want to use that. (I’m probably overlooking the obvious though.)
MACRO: a single instruction that expands automatically into a set of instructions to perform a particular task.
replacing one key for another is not a macro but a set up on the keybinds. Having a Macro Keyboard in a game that doesn’t allow MACROS is quite contradictory and will probably cause more than one unfair ban (if detected of course).
GW1 AI > GW2.
GW2 took such a HUGE step backwards in terms of AI, its even worst than its own predecessor. I really hope it gets better but after 2 years I don’t have much hope it will ever be anything close to GW1.
Actually, the strategy of stacking goes hand to hand with LoS most of the time. Pulling mobs with Line of Sight is as old as video games.
Stacking:
Break physics having more than one body occupy the same space (?)
Crash all characters together, make a pile, don’t dodge, don’t move, smash 1, 2 ,3 ,4, 5 when appropriate things will be over before you blink.
You stack to have more control of the fight, you know all boss attacks (most of the time) will land on the players position. You stack because buffs have very short range, so does combos. In GW2 you stack at melee because melee is ridiculously OP compared to range (which is fine up to some extent).
From my experience, sometimes stacking is a valid strategy if it is used to counter a boss attack but it gets wrong when its used for every single boss including trash mobs… One would expect that in 2014, new genre MMOs would have this addressed and covered but no, we are still doing LOS and stacking behind corners to kill Bosses. Turning a great game into something really lame.
If Lilith upload her art, I’ll do it too!

I’d say my least favorite change was the weapon unlocks, but honestly it was also my most favorite change. I hated unlocking those later skills on weapons so slowly. On all of my weapons. Ugh. But now it’s a bit like… doesn’t matter what weapon I choose, I’ll have the same amount of progress there. I actually really appreciate that change.
but do you realize the big inconsistency here? Your “contradiction” is not a coincidence
They did put a lock on weapon skills so you can slowly learn how to use each one of them [good concept, bad implementation (IMO) but lets continue]… but if you suddenly change your weapon you get 5 new skills that you have no idea how to use. So… do we get them slower to learn or 5 at the same time cause at lvl 10 we are so cleaver we know how to read 5 tool tips?… but still we can’t read 3 for our utility and need 35 levels!!! to do so?
The new system is a mess with no consistency, so weak in concept that I wonder how it got through approvals inside the company… Does anybody inside ANet ever audits what’s going live? I think they have much bigger issues than a bad patch
Its very effective…
I toss it at a book and can’t follow the story anymore… all I can read is salad.
I feel sorry for my alts and really sorry for the new players… this game was great.
Many people tend to underestimate PVT builds. Warriors has many traits to increase raw stats and with nourishments and FGJ my stats are pumped really high. Having twice as HP as most glass classes is a huge advantage, high power also gives lots of damage even when I dont have that much crit (29% with Fury, shield sigil of accuracy dont display on char sheet). High armor is also another nice thing to have as warrior.
I dont believe you need that much crit to kill someone with Axe… its base damage +eviscerate are enough and with my build (look at my stats) plus shield I can survive most glass spike damage.
I have 15 in Strengh, for Endurance I just use my Burst skill and I can dodge again. Also, Auto-Shake it off, Shake it off, FGJ with 6/6 soldier runes means 5 conditions removed from me and my mates.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
Minis (and finishers) on the wardrobe is actually the only positive change in quite a long time.
Its just a huge downer knowing this is probably the only thing vet players will notice difference (oh, that and now having light armor alts for farming).
(edited by Mesket.5728)
A damage meter will just show how unbalanced classes are.
Its better to keep the ilusion.
I won’t mind at all if it is working only in the Mists where are the dummies. But atleast we will have something…
I would like to have something for my personal improvement and testing as well but judging by the stupid elitism around the forums revolving around DPS I believe it will do more harm than good to the game and specially to the community and casual players (who btw, have little to no voice in the forums).
Stop buying gems.
My Necro and Mesmer are 80, leveling my Elem (60 atm)… stupid game now tells us which char to use… This change was so wrong….
the whole dungeons is a waste,.. they could’ve saved a lot of money if they just did an empty room with a boss… but well… it is what it is and all that effort can be completed by pressing the R key and making some coffee.
Why should we not be allowed to stand still?
If you have no incentive to actually move, why should we have to move?
Thanks, I do stack because I agree with the currently lame AI we have its the most effective. I wish for a game where standing still means dead and mobs have more AI than a potato.
I do hear people complain about the game’s skew towards direct damage, which is a pretty legitimate hate considering having a variety of options to choose from for character building is kind the whole friggin’ point of an RPG.
This +1
Grind is a seriously subjective term, before we go too far with this.
He is right
on another note, I can’t figure out how decisions like this (10K something for anything) passed through the necessary approvals to reach production.-
This design is based off of GW1, where you actually capture elites. In essence this is what you are doing for your character. Think of the Traits as Elites you need to capture – not much difference.
Doing with a new character and all the complaints I have read in this thread, it is not as bad or even the same as you are talking about. It is still pretty easy-peasy.
they did such a poor, poor! and lazy job representing what we had in GW1… it is horrible.
It is not horrible and is not lazy – I was in GW1 and played for a long time. I am happy we have limited skills – I was so kittened capping so many useless skills in GW1 and many of them were a chore having to go through so many mobs to get to them.
Redoing to exactly what we had in GW1 would have been horrible and lazy.
If you dislike it, why play this game? You have your opinion – I have mine – let’s respect each other’s opinion and leave it at that.
I insist, if trait unlocking was their response to the player base wanting skill hunting back, they did a terrible terrible job.- The system is horrible, it brought nothing good to the table. Playing alts is tedious and new players will take more time to learn the game (as they have to wait 20 more levels before they can taste grandmaster traits, which IMO was a very bad move from a design perspective).
They salvaged what was already in game and disguised it as something new. Bad from every perspective. I can’t find a single point of view for which this move was right.
Legendaries are a luxury object. And thus prized as a luxury is to be expected.
legendary is a tier
That tier will be unavailable to other players for some time every tier jump we will have.
See what happened with triforge and amulets?
Well imagine having a better armor of any other player for about a month every time a tier get release or lvl cap upgraded.
I never wanted a legendary before november 15 as many other players that doesn t like those skin…
Wrong game. Legendary is mainly cosmetic. Check the stat difference between the legendary weapons and exotics in the same slot.
And what you mention is the gear spiral- again wrong game.
Legendaries represent more than luxury and cosmetic, this is where you are wrong.
There is no other achievement in game on par with a legendary. Remove Legendaries from the game and 90% will plain quit as this is the only thing remaining for someone who already completed the world, dungeons, and got bored with WvW.
Anet knows this and let the market madness continue as we keep struggling with 0,00001% drop rates. There must be a carrot at the end of the stick.
…
lux·u·ry (lgzh-r, lksh-)
n. pl. lux·u·ries
1. Something inessential but conducive to pleasure and comfort.
2. Something expensive or hard to obtain.
3. Sumptuous living or surroundingsDefinition of luxury.
See point 2 and 1 which applies completely to legendaries. In no sentence did I say that legendaries are NOT and endgame goal. I merely said they are not essential for any content in the game as according to luxury definition.
I repeat. Remove them from the game and 90% will quit sooner than expected. They are much more than what you think. I’m sorry if you fail to see that.
Its almost every player carrot on the stick. (Even though many denied that because they already gave up, yeah… they right click them preview as well when nobody sees them).
I made the Bifrost 3 weeks ago. It cost me like 1.5k gold. For the precursor itself i paid 300g long time ago. In the beginning i thought i will not go for legendary. 2 months later i had 3 different sets of exotic equipment – berserker with divinity runes, condition with afflicted and MF with pirate/traveler + weapons. I had 3 crafting professions maxed. 2 additional slots in the bank, all the additional bag slots unlocked for 2 characters and still had 400 gold … I found it needless, so i bought the precursor.
I have never did any market manipulations, neither i flipped items on TP. Every day before log out i crafted every rare/exotic i can and put it on TP. Never got exotic drop more expensive than 5g. I have never bought gems with cash. Most of this money i farmed while there was thousands of rangers and bears running around. The gems was so cheap that i was salvaging rares with black lion kits and everything else with mystic kits. 1 ecto was 12-13s, crystalline dust was less than silver. Still … i paid for my precursor over 2.5k ectos.
So … dont tell me precursors are overpriced. I’m sick of all this whining. Their price is FINE. As long as 1 vial of powerful blood is 30s and single ecto is 40s.
/Age + achievement points in game?
You are (probably, maybe you are dungeon master, completed all jumps and stuff to do out there) the clear example of why we think Legendaries are horribly implemented.
Farm farm farm farm farm, gold gold gold gold gold gold gold, ERMAHGERD IMA LEGEND!
Class balance:
Ranger
Sick ‘Em will now apply ‘Revealed” to enemies they target. We want to introduce some counter play to Stealth (players have asked for that for a while), so we thought a pet “catching your scent” might be a cool way to insinuate some anti-stealth into the game.To help Rangers support allies, we increased the ability ranger pets have to support allies. For instance, the Bear condition removal isn’t strong enough, so we’ll be improving that. Moas and Fern Hound will also be improved.
There will also be # changes to some of the Ranger weapons. (this one some nice lie)
I was expecting to see some “Hey we finally removed sword 1 chain since it was still in beta stage and we never finished it, now you will be able to move and dodge while auto attacking” but no… it seems we will have to keep crossing fingers we don’t get rooted while attacking and in need to dodge.
since it will impact directly on your personal story and achievements, I don’t think so,
No it can’t impact achievements, it will be just like deleting a character. if you delete a character with fully completed story, its achievement will still stay. Storyline will be resetted/wiped on race change but achievements will stay. It will be just like creating a new character(the same class) with a different race after deleting old one, only difference is your level/map completion/gear/class will exist on the new character.
But again it wouldn’t be good to let you complete your storyline (again) with a lvl 80 fully geared character. We, as players that “already did it all”, can say it’s trivial content anyway and anyone can do it in a few hours with a new character. But it would still be wrong to just let you re-do it like that.
And what’s next? they have it scripted so one mission leads to the next one. Will you re-do the whole personal quest?
Ps. by the way, its not only race change but the whole background. The story that you chose and gave you special skins or whatever. Racial skills, Home instance, etc… its not that simple.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
YES 99% OF THE PEOPLE POSTED… but the people who liked this armor and bought it, never looked in the forum till today. LOL
and pls dont say that this forum should represent the whole gw2 community, thats is weird!
It’s not about the amount of people that posted… its about the amount of truth that was told. A cold wake-up slap right in the face.
Map completion is too hard, so no.
I can understand if you do it multiple times, but complete it at least once. It’s not hard, it’s time consuming.
Replace the batteries for your sarcasm detector. Is running low
