Manifesto did its job…. sell boxes.
Now the gemstore took over the game.
aspects + lag = log off and play something else.
Players don’t want to farm… Players wants rewards and progress.
Since there are none, they invent one (like Legendaries as one example) and farm for it.
ANet is so deep into pulling us to the gem market (who can blame them, it’s their business) that everything new must be VERY expensive and on extreme random chances… basically they are pushing players to it.
So yeah, this game was actually made for grinding, and it subsists on more and more grinding. Don’t like grinding? pay money for “money”.
Sequels are always bad
GW2: Morphing to WOW – 34% complete
My thoughts on WVW
If you ever played warhammer online you will realize how much of a joke is wvw in this game. (it was not perfect but man i find it so much better than this)
no body blocking, no tanks (where are the shield walls? the line of heavies stopping the enemies for getting inside a castle?), siege machines takes too much to be built and too little to be destroyed, you have to run many minutes for a 10 seconds fight and then run back a huge distance, no raid/huge party interface, etc (yes etc.. i don’t wanna be typing forever).
This game got the worst from other games massive pvp: Lots of unorganized zergs against each other where AOE is king. Just a huge mess of red and green names running and doing nothing in particular, just AOEs and spamming 1. Eventually you see someone to hit but those are the rare opportunities.
Maps are designed for thousands of players and you barely get to see a few dozens (even at full when you have to wait in queue to enter, maps are still empty).
meh… it has potential but the things that (IMO) are not properly design for a massive pvp are core and I don’t expect them to change.
1) Class Balance
2) Builds Balance (all builds to be equally needed/wanted on all aspects)
3) Continue the living world, affecting the world… not the gem store only.
Take a look at GW2 as it was advertised… the art, the idea, the concepts…
now take a look in LA, look at the sparkling fairies, I mean winged players, try to play a bit… all the grinding…
I don’t think Robert was the only one that left.
Can’t wait to pug with untraited – unskilled players
- Hey Warrior, what can you do?
- I can press 1 and then 1 again!
Since it is illegal in most countries to let kids gamble,… they found a way
GW2: Gamble Wars 2.
this game is not a serious PvP game and should have never been advertised or treated as one.
+1
+2
+3
With only 1 game mode and lack of significant roles PvP will never flourish. Though without expansions I don’t really see PvE flourishing either. I think a lack of clear direction is what the game suffers from most.
without roles pvp is like a chess full of pawns.
Racial elite skills are, universally, worse than class elite skills.
This is deliberate and will not be changed. A person shouldn’t choose their race on overpowered elites; it should be mostly a cosmetic choice.
People keep answering this on the many many posts already opened for this topic. You don’t seem to get what the problem is: most transformation skills are weaker than a geared character, not weaker than another similar skill. (this also aplies to the warrior elite skill Juggernaut or something.
For example: My Axe autoattack does normally 800-1K damage… while in any animal form my auto attack goes from 300 to 450. All attack skills are REALLY weak and if you sum this to the fact that we are stripped from all our utility skills, we are pretty much left with a gimped giant furry form unable to kill anything.
I myself like to play as tank warrior, axe shield with full pow/tough/vit. In bear form I die so much faster because i have no healing, regens, shouts, shield stance,… basically bear form is a suicide button for me, specially since I usually get all the aggro due to high toughness. Even though I have a bigger health pool, damage recieve is much greater and I have nothign to mitigate it. Conditions destroy me while in Bear because it completely lack of any cleanse method.
Overall animal forms are horribly implemented and very bad designed. They are not fierce, strong and cause fear;… they are weak, clumsy and very likely to get killed.
Only people that find something usefull on transformations are low level players or glass classes that uses wolf or leopard stealth as an oh kitten button… the rest of us are left with 60 wasted skill points.
I opened this post few after the game was launched and the issue still the same:

No, no no no no… LESS HUMAN, what is the point of having a gigantic humanlike character? The idea behind is that they are a different species, they shouldn’t be more human.
WE NEED MORE BELLY! that’s what we need… BEER BELLY!!!! I CAN’T MAKE MY FAT NORN YET!
Well,… GW2 is a big boy and handles itself now… NCSoft puts all his attention on his newborn WildStar. I won’t expect much improvement in this game from now on.
They can’t charge you for fixes. They can charge you for gems to buy hairstyle.
well you answered yourself in point 3…. if you only made alts to get extra rewards then you are doing it wrong.
Norns need more chest hair!!!! (?)
Isn’t ‘^’ it a bit ironic to call a guide, a beginners guide? I mean… you start out being a beginner, you don’t need a guide to be one.
Wouldn’t it be better to make a more advanced guide? Like what can you know that everyone here don’t and that is why people complain so much about this class?
^ added this because the forums recognize the female breasts in isn’t_it.

Players: Ranger is borked
Devs: Ok, u can haz reveal
Players: We are still borked
Devs: Ok, u can haz beginner guide u nub
I hope you understand having 63 stacks of anything is not normal.

could this PLEASE be the LAST lava/fire/molten thing we see on top of players?
you know… its getting a bit repetitive and meaningless since it has NOTHING to do with what we do at the game. Maybe molten aliance,… once… just maybe… but this is going to far.
kthxbye
it will still be here,… every day getting closer and closer to a generic MMO. I wouldn’t invest in this game to be honest but if you like what you see then go ahead. Don’t expect content though, they already showed over and over again where they put focus on.
There is nothing better than DPS in this game, and zerker gear maximises DPS. Therefore, how is it not the best?
Well,… the vast majority of the player base is constantly dead because they THINK they know how to play in this gear…
I’m sorry…
I hope ANet stop being such a mobile phone support kind of guys and assist you with your issue
at the moment it looks like someone’s son in the design team likes to play berseker… everything is designed for it (gauntlet as example…one shot skills + timer to kill fast = zerk job).
a core change is needed before other sets starts being useful.
They made the devs wear little dwarf hats and put them into the mines.
It seems that selling gems is a better business than building video games.
GW2 is in divest for me since last year… unfortunately I don’t see this game becoming good ever again. I’m afraid we have already seen the best of this game.
Something between the original idea of what Legendaries originally meant and how they were implemented in the game went terribly wrong. They are far from being what they represent and just an asset for wealthy TP players, not adventurers.
Because transmutation stones
/end tinfoil hat
Because everyone knows that, don’t want to transmute; and were expecting the top gear armor to be something to show off instead of hiding.
Stop it now with the transmute comments captain obvious.
If you find a champion and want to kill it, kill it.
If a hundred kids nerd-rage because they had to wait 1-2 more minutes; they can thank you later for their needed therapy.
You wondering this after they implemented fairy neon wings? I mean,… except jade weapons and Braham set, all the rest that was implemented in the last year was horrible and far from the original concept art.
And how do you suggest they earn money if they are giving everything for free in the game?
The services they had at start are more than enough if the game is interesting enough to keep playing it. Instead of putting an armor in the gemstore that will be bought by a minority, they could place it in as ingame reward and promote the use of transmutations… like fractal weap skins that cant be used without a stone. Imagine how many skins would you have already if every armor was part of an ingame reward instead of a pay to use. More players will be willing to use if it means that you did content to get instead of just cash it. Having a locker for skins (that would require a transmutation stone each time you want to change) will let players accumulate skins and transmute to what they want without the fear of loosing the previous skin and if they ever wants to go back, they will need to use another stone.
Implement more services, leveling scrolls, player housing (why not? add cool things to your home, things you can enjoy with friends like the minigames, but your own, a bar with the toast minigame included comes to my mind, they have a whole team to come up with ideas).
There are many things they can provide that are not lame skins.
Delaying the release of new content in the game to add some cliche skins that obviously doesn’t have much work on is bad for the game. It can be more profitable in a short therm but it reduces the amount of content that we have available in the world on the long term. Put more effort in content than in the gemstore and you will have a larger world with more players (because you know, the game is better) and the gemstore will be used anyway.
- Create character *
black screen with a prompt: Play Tutorial? Yes – No
If yes:
Black scenario with your char in the middle with a spot light… text explaining whily you try things out on training dummies.
If no: Go to first instance like it was in the original gw2.
I mean, it’s not rocket science! Mobile phone games have better design than this.
having so many animations was confusing… players were wondering why their characters do that, or that!
Dev Room: “Meteorlogicus… hmm… not a greatsword… NEXT!”
The Feature Pack announcements will continue next week and some of them will definitely contain information that’s relevant to those of you who’ve been playing the game for long. We won’t tell you about them until the articles are live though, to keep the element of surprise!
Was that it? Minis and Finishers in the wardrobe?
What a great day for vets!
I want to dual weild thiefs! One thief on each hand!
I’m a Norn, I could easily dual weild 2 Asuras
So 12 year olds are impatient and think things are dumb.
My teenagers thought everything was dumb. Insurance was dumb. Taxes were dumb. Eating vegetables was dumb. Chic flicks were dumb. Reading was dumb.
I’m not sure what that proves except that you’ve got plenty more years of that to go.
First time I see that Vayne nailed it.-
GW2 is now as fun as insurance, taxes, eating vegetables, etc…
Its not up to me… I did my part. The stupid system (RNG as a main mechanic, loldesign) has to do its part now.
I don’t want to work hundreds of hours in a video game for something that was not worked on and lazily placed in RNG. If they ever (really) implement precursors ingame as a reward for anything, I’ll play (note keyword, play) my hundreds to get it.
how did you survive your younger siblings birthday as a child? (if you have one…)
The game is not ready to implement new dungeons….
what for? to skip/zerk them out? let them fix the ones we have to actually FEEL like a dungeon.
Can I have your gold?
It pretty much goes against with their casual-friendly policy, but many “prestige” things are behind immense gind-fest; so…
Well, you do grind after level 80 anyway, so what’s the deal? Rather give players prestige if they spend a lot of time. Casual players don’t need ranks or prestige.
You are assuming waaaaay to much there… Casual players loves prestige as much as the hardcore… problem is, many can’t afford the time. Give prestige only to hardcore because they can sit their cats on the game for many more hours and this game is just like his cousins.
What is needed is a system that can reward casuals and hardcore for content completed and not farmed.
I’m puzzled why some players decided to join this game if the concept they like for armor design is clearly the opposite of what GW had in the first place…
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mesmer_armor
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Necromancer_armorSo many light armor pants. The mesmer especially. Light armor + pants is clearly the opposite of what GW had. Yes sir.
I’d love to see more pants to be honest. Specially more Mesmer “Victorian tuxedos” (sry, my english is not the best). What I definitely don’t want to see is more lineage alike skins or wow particle fx on top of players.
(edited by Mesket.5728)
I don’t want to see Scarlet suffer because that would be to endure another lame story about her… just delete her from the database. Pretend she never existed.
She is 60’s comic villain, she belongs to an Adam West batman’s episode, not to this epic game.
Yes, it does rock to be a warrior. We are the rockstars of Dungeons. We have demonic groupies and trailers loaded with weapons and armors one can even imagine.
As a customer I feel insulted by their lack of work on their new models. I feel like they thought “yeah, just add some shinny, the stupid will buy it anyway cause it has flamezzz and flamez are cawl”
Also, please ANet, get your World of Warcraft armors elsewhere. You are ruining my and many others game. (Yes, some of us entered GW because it has beatiful art).
Such a HUGE step backwards… and a huge step back you wont be able to erase…
Because new players means business,… you (we) vets are not. It’s really that simple.
I think it’ll drive away more players than it attracts. The fact that Arenanet is basing this decision on what works in China was a bad one.
the Chinese didn’t like it either and wanted to get the same version we had.
