get sims 2 type the code rosebud around 100 times, build your mansion and be on the top of the world and then come back to GW 2 with lots of energy to farm and play.

At least in SIMS (no cheats needed) I didn’t have to make profit by reselling my chairs and wall materials to be able to purchase something new. I just played with my character having fun and the income would be enough to achieve anything in the long term.

Here, its impossible. Play the game, you earn 10, TP players raise prices 20. You earn 50, TP players raise prices 150.

Lets go play Need for Speed! but this time, if you don’t spend hours reselling car parts instead of racing with it, you won’t get the best one.

I can do this all day but I’m afraid people will still not get the point…

the ONLY hope for us players is to bypass the system with that 0,00001% of getting a precursor out of the box that will save us…

In other words, we are the working class who pays for the riches and put our hopes in a lotery. Pretty sad and pathetic analogy for what real life is.

Well done ANET but it kind of ruin the fantasy and kill the game,

The best way to implement Ascended armor?

“Everyone, including casual gamers, by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base. The rare stuff becomes the really awesome looking armours. It’s all about collecting the unique looking stuff and collecting all the other rare collectible items in the game: armour pieces, potentially different potions – a lot of that is still up in the air and we’ll finalize a lot of those reward systems as we get closer to release. And those come off of things like the bosses at the end of dungeons – the raids.”

They can give Scarlet all the depth they want and even if they end up making an interesting story, it doesn’t have to like me.

I don’t like her conceptually, I don’t like made up on the go “armies”, I don’t like her smile, her joker wanna be attitude. I don’t like what she might be looking for, I’m just not interested. She behaves like a spoiled teenager, desperate to get some attention. Everything around her was forced in the story, her knowledge, her way of manipulating factions, her powers… nothing is believable and it has to be explained through very unlikely scenarios. It’s a character I simply cannot buy.

The only damage she is really causing is to the game lore if this character ever becomes representative of the Guild Wars franchise. For all we know, Scarlet had much more impact on the world than Zhaitan, many times more; it just doesn’t make any sense. Even if at the end an Elder Dragon was behind Scarlet, it can’t be more powerful than she already is. She controls everything from everywhere at any time, it’s stupid. It’s also stupid that we are still beating her, just let us finish her and move on with a real story about Tyria.

That has nothing to do with anything.

You said dungeons don’t require teamplay, I mentioned examples of teamplay and now for some reason you’re now claiming I’m “worst than I thought”.

Because I said dungeons don’t require team work. You mentioned examples of “teamwork” that are not required to complete a dungeon. You are not responding to my statement either.

Honestly, I don’t want to spend an hour at the office in a “no you” discussion. Try to understand the point and don’t answer with examples of how the game is since this topic is talking about changes so we are all in the magical land of hypothetical situations.

Have you ever played a game that requires tactical organization? like the very basic, sniper to the tower, machine provide cover, assault move ahead? ok,… that is the kind of things that are missing here. There is no “sniper”, nor “machine-gun” nor assault, simply because there are no defined roles. We can invent our owns based on what my class can provide as useful but its not really a role I’m playing. See what I’m talking about? I’m not trying to kill zerk class. On the contrary, I want it to shine at dps as I want a support role to shine in support or a control rol to shine at control. Of course, not only stat balance has to change; game content has to change as well to make that happen.

Well,… GW2 is a big boy and handles itself now… NCSoft puts all his attention on his newborn WildStar. I won’t expect much improvement in this game from now on.

Actually, if NCSoft loosens its “grip” on GW2 a bit, that could be a very GOOD thing in terms of development direction and pressure to be the cash cow of the company.

Maybe that is why Wildstar is sub based… one can only hope that we won’t be seeing patches so focused in the gemstore now and more focused on content.

Even though I agree conceptually with what the OP says… I disagree that the patch itself isn’t an issue.

Some changes they are proposing are bad. Simple as that. They will impact the game in a wrong way (I’m looking at you loot by profession). It’s concerning that they implement things like that (and others in the past). It shows we know more of the game than they know, no matter how many “statistics” they want to mention. I don’t buy it anymore. It’s simply wrong, in theory, in math, in practice.

I really hope they get their heads into the game and do things positive for the players or at least be honest and confess they have plans for the future that don’t include us vets.-

Sorry I don’t judge if something is bad or good till I’ve tried it and played it. I know some people think it’s bad. But no one really knows…and won’t likely know for some time.

“I’m going to kick you in the crotch…” Do you need a test to know its bad?

Some people can do math in their heads faster than others that’s true, but those people already explained a thousand times why even on paper those changes are bad. Besides, it’s not only this time they are including things without proper analysis or not being honest with the real intentions behind the change.

If I had a nickle for every time something was supposed to be good on paper turned bad, I’d be pretty rich. I’ve also had experts and people in the know tell me how bad something was that worked out.

Logic can only take into account known facts. There are too many unknowns here. The system is too complex. For example, what if it’s only for leveling and once you hit 80 it doesn’t perform that way anymore?

Then you will have a lot of lvl 80 medium and heavy wearer players cursing they didn’t get enough Wool, Cotton and Linen while leveling and now need to spend a lot of gold in the TP.

Like I said, its not the only change that it’s bad… how can you justify things like the Silver fed o’matic? You need to do elementary school math to realize how bad it is… and you only need 5 minutes. How can a dev propose, program and get approved with something like this is beyond logic. That is the true problem, not the change itself.

Accumulating money is not an in game progression. Nuff said.

It can buy stuff that makes progression easier, yes, but it should buy progression itself.

Yes I’m considering acquiring a Legendary as game progression because it is actually the top end of progression.

I find the two options to be no different. Some people like to see a big number next to their gold count. Some people like to see cool effects on their gear. In both cases it is either a case of internal pride or external status symbol.

But then we go back to page 2 or 3 of this thread (read my posts there).

This isn’t a money making game, its a fantasy monster slaying game. Give me a merchant class and you will have a point right there.

If this was Eve Online then money making would be part of game progression. I agree.

When playing the TP makes more progress than getting out of the city and playing the game, then something is wrong.

I don’t blame John’s TP; its a design flaw as a whole and many variables get involved.

Read at this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/norn/Norn-Bear-Form/first#post2231455

Your character is actually weaker while transformed. You have less skills, less mobility, less mechanics, less everything, just raw stats and pretty bad ones. The damage is pathetic, not a bit down but pathetic. The 1-5 skills are so bad it makes you wanna switch to normal form in 5-7 seconds after transformed.

HP goes down faster in bear form than in normal.

New keyboard

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mesket.5728

Mesket.5728

Most of you didn’t actually read the entire keyboard description..

The ‘macro’ keys located behind the F-key row are raised so that you can basically slide your finder down from one of those keys while pressing it and land on the F-Key underneath.

This fits exactly with what Anet considers acceptable. It makes it easier to press two buttons with one physical action, but you are still pressing two buttons.

As for the keyboard itself, I agree with the above poster that this is NOT a gaming keyboard. There are much better choices out there.

A macro is not the same as a keybind.

It might be to the Steelseries marketing team.

Well, they might not be as big as they think to re-define the word Macro :P

I’m sure that’s what all of you imagine when you read about shapeshifting norns… gaining stealth for a few secs to run away. Impressive…

Ahah pretty much!

In my opinion ANet did a very bad job on our elites, not because of the fact that they aren’t strong enough (was clearly stated that racial skills would have been subpar) but because they aren’t fun at all. How can you enjoy such a flavour transformation if it only last 30 secs every 4 minutes??? I really cannot get the reason of such a long cooldown on skills that has no impact on game balance.

forget the cooldown… give it to me 24/7 and I wouldn’t use it either… I’m half my character while transformed.

This is one of the most single players MMO out there.

It’s just a bunch of zerk players (everyone one is a copycat of the other) doing things the fastest they can (like if they actually have something important to do in life) then leaving the zone.

Since there is no concept of team play, communications are not needed. Thus, people don’t eve say “thanks” when you rez them… you barely read a shortened “ty” every now and then.

If you want to play Zerk you play Zerk. If you join a guild that doesn’t do that, then you have different experiences.

I definitely have different experiences than the ones you’ve outlined here.

I’m talking about the occasional talk in the map with random people you encounter. Is it better now? I thought the message was troll proof but I was wrong…

Thanks.

Ps. Its not only the zerk gear, but the zerk mentality also. Players in this game are like a swarm. They just flow in the masses spamming 1 (this is so funny, some of them actually press 1 when there are no mobs just in case they are missing something or waiting for the spawn lol )

Radiant and Hellfire Armor Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mesket.5728

Mesket.5728

I am concerned about the Radiant and Hellfire skins because I don’t think that the Achievements rewards are well balanced. After checking the Achievement Point (AP) Reward table on the wiki (see attachment), I made a few changes to make it possible for players to acquire one full set until 18k AP and another full set until 36k AP (see attachment).
The way the system works right now is very questionable because you will acquire 2x Helmets, 2x Gloves, 2x Boots before you can acquire any Top or Bottom piece and it would be more productive to work towards one full set before getting additional parts of the other set.
Since many already made their choice for their second pair of gloves, shoes and helmet I would recommend either resetting those rewards or even letting those select players keep those skins as a “bonus”. If you let those players who already have the 2nd gloves/shoes/helmet keep those skins they would have an advantage but it would still be better for the new players to have this change implemented because the way it is right now, they would never have the chance of getting one full set or even both sets complete. What are your thoughts?

They designed and built a car. Asking for wings to make it fly or a hull so it can drive on water isn’t going to happen.

That is the problem… they said they were going to make a car without wheels… so we were all expecting some new kind of mobility, some hover system or anything… instead they did what they said… they built a car without wheels and nothing more. A simple car without wheels.

It’s easy to say we will remove the trinity just like that… so hey, whats new? what will replace it? nothing… lot of classes that can do everything. We are single players doing the same next to each other.

What’s new is for you the player to learn to adapt to a system where it’s someone else’s job to keep you alive in battle or to keep the critters off your back. It’s about dodging and flanking rather than simple mindless fixed roles. The challenge in dungeons, where you are forced to have a fixed size party, is about strategy of near equals not the super specialized.

The concept of Fighter, MU, Cleric, Thief has been around for 40 years in gaming. Very fixed roles with loads of limitations that niche each of those archetypes game play styles simply because of those limitations. This got propagated into video games, first fantasy RPGs and then FPS games when they introduced classes. It’s ingrained today so much that when a game like GW2 tries to break that mold many consider that it’s the game that’s broken rather than our preconceptions.

But the game is broken, not because we think so but on paper and math it is broken. From the very moment where you make a game without tanks and healers and provide those 2 stats for players to gear. You say other roles will replace the ones missing but there are none. They implement a design where range (safeness) comes in exchange for damage (risk) but at the very end, the system itself has so many flaws that playing this game is like playing Simon so you learn it by hard sooner or later and those safeness is nothing but a waste or burden leaving damage as only choice. And what happens when you balance damage to how close you are but don’t provide some classes of close combat weapons? (see rangers and engineers)

This is the first MMORPG I’ve seen where EVERYONE goes for the same stats… no matter class, race, “role” (if you can mention another than dps); they all go for zerk stat. Do you really think this is a coincidence? The core of the game is bad designed and that is a symptom. You don’t need to be a genius to see it. Another symptom is how much of a slap to the face this game is to players who plays far from the servers or have a bad internet connection… one shot skills, dodge or die design… not very good with an average of 500 latency.

So I don’t think it is a preconception of what an MMO should be, but what it is by definition. You can’t release an RPG and deliver a car racing game because you are innovating. So why are we all playing like if was some kind of MMORPG when it’s actually an MMO action/platform game?

There is absolutely nothing that indicates there will be any kind of dimishing effect while you level up. Actually we have a red reply saying it will be otherwise, it will affect 80’s as it will affect lvl 1.

Can you link me the post? I’m not up for trawling for it and the one I remember was specifically in response to someone asking if it would be an issue at level 80 and the response was “it would be barely noticeable”.

And the thread derailed into asking “why if it’s not notable would you make the change at all?” and other stuff so I stopped following it.

. . . which said exactly what I said it had earlier, it says nothing about Level 1’s being the same as Level 80’s.

I’m still combing through the Dev Tracker, but I’m not finding the one post where they say “nope, it’s a flat unchanging rate through your entire level range”.

Because if it would have any kind of diminishing effect while leveling they would’ve mention it already and if you ever programmed a video game before you know what kind of trouble you have to go through to implement that. It won’t be one unless they are working on it now. And even IF they do that, it won’t change the fact that the change in concept is bad. Not bad because having loots by your profession is bad but bad because it is inconsistent with the current game. That change alone without changing the recipes its bad. No need for deeper analysis, testing, or other economy-wannabe replies like its going to even out. If you’ve been here long enough you know where this is going. Expect more and more light armor players farming out there.

1) Anet want you to have a pet. Not to be a thief with long bow.

But its ok to be a Ranger with Stealth – Thief

But its ok to a Ranger with Heavy Armor – Warrior

Damage increase with pet dead or stowed isn’t OP. Period.

Of course, just because you say so. Your authority on the matter allows you not to provide arguments to your point. Perfect.

Ps. We don’t have thieves stealth capability and warriors don’t have our damage with bows. Don’t be like that.

No need to go into details, since its already been covered many time.

Warriors don’t have Ranger damage with bows? LOL. You are kidding right?

No, I’m a warrior and recently moved to the ranger’s world and amazed by how many biased lies I’m reading.

Not gonna disagree that ranged damage as a whole in this game needs a bump but from there to warriors better than rangers with longbow is just too much.

They should remove all fire armor/weapons from the game. They look childish. Just let us throw water buckets at them.

this is an arcade, not a roleplaying game.

Really?

Thank you, the fact that your argument is part of the manifesto renders it invalid automatically.

We already know the manifesto as the cake is a lie
