1) guild missions should be instanced so as to not waste mine and all my guildies time waiting for X guilds to finish.

While I understand your frustration that you choose to wait. That was actually a design decision for smaller guilds. My guild would not have been able to finish the Guild Puzzle the other day if it were not for us piggybacking on another guild.

My guild has helped others (smaller) guilds to complete their challenge also, but as it doesn’t give credit (this one didn’t) to the helping guild, it needed to be done again by us in order to complete it thus taking twice as long; they left when done theirs. If both guilds got credit for the initial encounter then I would be all for it, but I believe an instanced version would be preferable. As there are no clear guidelines as to what does and doesn’t give credit for helping, if they will not instance it, they need to give all guild participants credit IMO..

In order for it to give credit for both they must accept the credit and also the event must be queued in their guild panel.

Also as a general rule always ask first.

Read the lore – this is where the name Guild Wars came from

why are you guys giving this stupid argument every time.

what you wrote doesn’t mean this game can’t or is not allowed to have actual guild pvp. get lost already.

It is not a argument it is a fact. People ask “it is Guild Wars after all” the poster that post that are simply saying this is why it was named Guild Wars not for a playstyle.

If sPvP ever does get a healthy stable population they may create GvG.

It would be nice to view the treasury outside of the guild hall. Perhaps in the Guild Panel. This way guild member will know what to bring to the Guild Hall.

I’m sitting at Vigil looking at a bunch of people I don’t know… just feels kinda empty.

This type of comment has had me perplexed for quite a while. There are likely multiple hundreds of people on every given server. I don’t see how anyone would be able to recognize more then a handful of the population on any one server. I don’t see how any one can make a valid correlation or come to any substantial conclusion based solely on observation. Doing so would be highly susceptible Observation bias.

I understand that it feels that there are a bunch of people you do not know. If the area that you are in was historically a low population that you only saw a handful of people constantly on the server. Of course there is going to be a bunch of people you don’t know. The entire idea was to add more people to low populated areas. If the area you are in was a high populated area see statement above.

Just thought I would jump in and make a slight correction to something being said. Commander tags do get a chat title in squad chat.

I am actually glad that they did not add that to map chat or /say also. Then everyone will want to get a commander just to have the “prestige” of being called commander in map chat.

Also commander tags are getting a upgrade (squads are specifically). It is just not in the game yet as it broke things before. It should be in around the time raids hit. Mentors can not run squads.

A title only in squad chat, while the mentors get it everywhere. Totally fair.

I am actually glad that they did not add a chat title to map chat or /say also. Then everyone will want to get a commander just to have the “prestige” of being called commander in map chat.

It is not about being fair it is about what is best for the game. Want the chat title get the required mastery.

Maybee a Flag called “wvw” is the best one.

It can be 1 for a normal account.
And 0 for a Free 2 Play Account, but automatic set to 1 if one character arrived level 60

Mmm I think having an account-type indicator would make more sense here. Maybe just have a flag to indicate one of 3 types: Free, Core, or HoT. We could then determine for ourselves if the account has access to WvW – Free with a level 60 (or higher) character, or Core/HoT.

This flag could also be used for other things. Say a Raid planner in a guild website would allow people to be warned if they can’t join the raid when they are planning it.

Death penalty sort of exists in that if you die too many times you don’t get a downed state and you’re just dead, but this could be changed up so that each death gives you less starting health. That could be interesting.

Wish granted every time you get downed you get less and less downed health. You also start off with a low amount of health when you rally.

I can play my personal story once I exited the starting dungeon area in the old system. Now I have to grind all the way to level 10. That’s not " the things unlocked at later levels are earned at about the same time period you used to start using them in the old system in actual real game time " Colin.

That was not changed for that reason. The reason why they changed that was to fix the flow of the story itself. This in my opinion was a required change. my wife stated her big gripe was that she did not like the frequent interruptions to the story bits with leveling. Now she won’t be interrupted on new characters she plays. She was a little confused about the change (She does not read patch notes) but she basically took it as oh so I need to level up more to access them ok.

Gw2 Constructive Decline

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

When they stopped working on Guild Wars 1 to build Guild Wars 2 they informed us and released Eye of the North. There reason for this is that they don’t want to leave their players hanging wondering what is going on.

If they are working on a expansion I wish they would at least inform us that then just give us the montage of “No ETA”. That way we are not left hanging wondering “What are the 200+ people doing over there”. The players would really appreciate it for the same reasons why they appreciated it when development on Guild Wars 1 stopped.

A lot of the problem with how veteran players feel has to do with Phycology and human nature. We all act like skritt and like shiny things but we only like shiny new things.

In reality the only difference between a expansion and the current methods of deviling content is the current methods are in piece meal portions. That is not necessarily a bad thing. It keeps a lot of people logged in for the patches. We get a constant cycle of content. There is none of this play though the content then wait 6 months for the next expansion.

But we get used to it and the newness of the Living Story fades. Then we are left wanting more. We are wanting the Beta Experience, We are wanting the new car smell. We also want something that we will go through and not leave us wanting more but feeling satisfied. We are wanting a new game.

This is something Guild Wars 1 did vary well. It gave us a new game frequently. But Guild Wars 2 is a different animal. It is more complex and have more working parts to worry about. If they did release a expansion it would really only be the combination of a large feature pack and a entire season of Living World. Players will play though it and we would be back to where we are now.

It is due to this understanding that currently I take the game for what it is. A good game with a good community. I started to play other games more. I lowered my expectations to be honest they were too high anyways. Hope for new campaign sometime in the future. Take breaks when I feel they are needed. Provide feedback on changes that I think are needed and play the living story content when it is released. For I realize the new car smell is gone and it is now just my car. Such is the cycle of things.

You will need to understand how to program and parse API queries in a programming language to develop a application. This is a much more complex topic then can be covered in a single post. May I recommend finding a good programming language like Ruby,Python,Perl or PHP then study up on how to parse the text and create the application you desire.

Each day when you finish a unique path for any explorable or story dungeon, you’ll receive a bonus reward for completion—1 to 3 gold for explorable dungeons depending on their length and difficulty, 50 silver for story dungeons. Guaranteed coin rewards that previously dropped from bosses in dungeons have been removed in lieu of these new rewards for dungeon completion; all other drops off of bosses have not been changed. Why we hear nothing but Silence from ANet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

Hence my store analogies. When you open a new store, you hire new staff. Some of the existing staff goes to help open the new store…but you only send what you can afford to send. You always leave behind enough to run the old store and handle customer issues. That’s how we do it. Clearly it’s not how ANet does it.

The fact that the guys who can answer us are busy with China is exactly the issue. They did not leave anyone behind to handle the existing market. Why not? And why shouldn’t they be taken to town about this? If we did the same exact thing with one of our stores the community for that store would flip their kitten. It would do irreparable damage to that community and our reputation as a company.

The guys that went over were not the equivalent of lowly retail employees and managers. They are more the equivalent in the retail business of corporate coming to visit.

Also the majority of those that post on the forums here are not the low level employees. They are typically team leads or higher.

It’s not like it’s a completely crazy thing for the Game Director to leave for a big launch. And it’s borderline insane to suggest that they should have hired an additional game director for the China launch.

Video games are not retail, anyway, and I wish we’d quit with the rather tortured metaphors.

They do have a Aisa Game director his name Jason Roberts. But his job is not the same as Chris Whiteside. If the credits are still correct it is more equivlent to Colins Job. Colin may also be in China helping Jason Roberts.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_credits

Ok, I know, I know, you say it’s because of the Chinese release, but I just can’t stop wondering…

…whaddazhaitan are all of them doing in China if they’re launching the same game, simply translated and with a minor premium BLTC thingie, and whaddatrahearne is doing the Chinese team then?

Giving them the same red carpet treatment they gave us when we pre-pruchased the game. Listening to their feedback. Teaching them the game. Responding to their concerns. Playing the game with them.

Don't sell your ToT bags

The Precursors are dropping from the ToT Champion Bags that you get from the three bosses in The Labirynth. The regular ToT bags drop no equipment and, therefore, no Precursors. They do, no doubt, have a chance for valuable rare drops though. I was commanding a group two nights ago in which someone looted The Legend after killing the Wizard.

What about this guy?

He got a precursor from a ToT bag. And lots of other people have got one too. Did Anet overlook something?

He likely opened up a large candy bag. Those drop equipment of masterwork rarity and above.

I recently was looking at Penny Arcade and I read the following comic that is somewhat on this topic:

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2014/04/07/time

This got me thinking about loot time and rarity. The community is very vocal on it a lot of people hate it. Blame it on RNG. Hate on RNG. Saying RNG is horrible. When in fact although there is RNG in the game. The majority of things that are behind a RNG can be bypassed. The problem is bypassing RNG does not feel rewarding. Getting lucky feels rewarding. Something that happens rarely feels rewarding. Although something that overall may be rare. If it happens to us too frequently or takes too long to make it does not feel rewarding.

Loot the majority of the time is actually useful. You get materials that you can use to combine with other materials to get nice looking and useful items. Or you can sell your unneeded items for gold that you can use to get the materials toward your goal. The problem with loot and rarity in most cases is not a problem with the design in the game. It is a problem with what we value. Time and our ability to be in the moment. The game should be it’s own reward. The items that we need to move forward in our goal should feel rewarding also. However they are not.

The trick with RNG is finding the balance between Time Spent/Difficulty and the amount that is rewarded. But yet not have something be so common that it turns into a situation that rare items don’t feel rewarding. Where the balance is I honestly don’t know. That is why I try to play the game for the games sake not the loot. Otherwise I too would have likely quit long ago.

We’re exploring some technical improvements that may allow the PC to speak under new circumstances, but it’s actually a bigger undertaking than one would imagine due to the complexity of player voice implementation (10 possible voices, currently shared lines of dialog that we want to split out, scene timing per language, etc.). That’s about all I can say at the moment.

While you are at it could you have text dialogue at time reference our characters by name when appropriate. I think that would even be a good stop gap measure it also has more effect then a title. Especially when talking with close friends in some instances.

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I absolutely agree the timing of Megaserver was meant to be in the middle of Living World releases to provide a safer way to test it. I do wish we could be providing better feedback than “this game is hell, I’m quitting.”

Feedback like… “I was doing guild missions, we had X people trying to get into Y map, but it took us Z minutes to get everybody together… almost everybody, that is, because Q people never made it in because the map filled up.”

That’s useful feedback for the devs and the kind that I wish more people would give.

I was looking for it in your signature before I asked. Must have missed it somehow. I agree that it is a bit upsetting that players are not giving better feedback. It would also give a better perspective for those viewing the threads. I think they will find a trend that the people that are having the worst problems with the megaserver are those that are on extremely high populated servers. Or those that were on the lowest and choose the lowest because they want to have a lower population.

Learning Curve

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

Many if not most of the GW2 weapons contain 1-2 skills that “just” do damage with the rest being a situational skill that does damage and something else (chill, interrupt, PBAoE buff or mitigation, etc.). One observation I’ve made about GW2 is that some players just seem to use their skills whenever they’re off CD, with no thought to whether using the skill right then makes any sense. So, sarcastic or not, Xar is correct that the NPE has taught these people to mash buttons when available with no thought, regardless of weapons slotted.

But that is not the way the game was designed to be played. The old skill unlock system was much better. If the speed that the skills were unlocked at was too fast for new players to learn. Adjusting the speed would work better then the level gated system though skills. It also does not teach you about the skills for the additional weapons you get. You just have those skills unlocked.

Yes I know it is in the tooltip.

If it’s in the tooltip… ???

Gaile, I’d prefer not to have additional buttons to confirm something if it’s already stated. If a player chooses not to pay attention, Anet should not have to hold their hands while playing. It would be like punishing the players who do pay attention and read.

Ya it looks like it is in the tooltip at least for Miyani stuff. I agree I really don’t want another confirm. Making it more visible have soulbound and account bound items in a separate tab and have a notice up top saying all these items are soulbound/accountbound.

Don’t play on EB then. If your entire server concentrates on your borderlands that will give you the fights you are looking for. Even BP runs from SBI’s zerg in EB from time to time because they are “Afraid of the numbers”

I wonder if anyone realises that the living story is them playing with different ideas once they have a good idea of what players like and don’t like they set it aside in the MOAR stuff category.

This is what they mean by working on the core of the game.

Also development takes a lot of time. Give them time to work on stuff.

I also think it would be interesting if data was gathered on WvW population vs those that complain that the world is empty. Same with PvP population vs those that complain the world is empty.

And those who dont buy expansion?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

Someone else put it best in another thread.

In most MMORPGs, progression is almost over for those who don’t buy the expansion and it will probably be the same here for the most part.

This is not living world season that you are buying if you like the story. This is an expansion that you buy if you want to keep playing GW2 while getting new features and updates.

You can play WoW without any expansion however, doing that will limit you from progression byeond what you got at the start of the game, for the most part. Same thing will aply here I would assume. This is how the MMO industry works.

If you want to progress in Guild Wars 2 you will need to buy the expansion. If you don’t then you don’t need to buy the expansion. This includes progressing your character beyond the point you currently can. This includes progressing in the story beyond the point you currently can.

The problem here is that people are way too focused on “rewards” (Loot, WXP, etc) instead of winning.

I agree that winning should be it’s own reward but it is not. This is because it is a MMO and the reason why people play WvW varies from getting the legendary to completing the daily to having fun. If those all were taken away we would have a lot less people playing WvW. Which is why we are suggesting rewarding for defending more.

Reminder: Personal Story is horrible

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

anzenketh, exactly: up until Claw Island most storylines are just fine, some even brilliant (Charr Blood Legion!). It all falls apart when they get smashed together and we get the phlegmatic shrub as a commander.

I actually don’t think the problem is Trahearne as a character. A lot of players place blame on him when he is not the problem. I actually enjoy his character. The problem is the transition. We are not given emotional reason to care for him as a commander. He is just someone that our mentors respected but is just a scholar. They tried by attempting the transition from scholar to commander but failed as he did not prove himself. We were not given a good enough reason to accept his lead and care for him. Even though that is what the second half of the story is about.

Sometimes I feel that the true personal story takes place in the dungeons for the second half of the personal story. This is where the character development takes place. That is also why on my play-though try to complete the dungeons when I am at level for them and do the personal stories at the level.

I actually like the Personal Story.

My only qualms is that it can conflict with the Living World making things weird like LA.

I also in general like the Personal Story. Enough that I still plan on playing all of the interactions. Even to the level 80 story steps.

I hope that they continue the Personal Story. The lack of the cut-scene to ingame cutscene will help the immersion and allow them to do better storytelling and less like a cheap play with no props. I am glad they scraped that idea.

It is a bit jarring that we are defending a city that is already destroyed. This is part of the reason why I really hope they re-build LA.

(thought Tybalt was too much comic relief for anyone to take seriously)

But Tybald was simply fun. I would have followed him 100 times more likely through the end of the story than Mr. “this won’t end well” Trahearne.

I understand why they have him a bit under powered in actual play this is acceptable. Otherwise it would be too easy like the human commoner first 10 levels. At least I do not have to rez him all the time like a do Logan. But this is exactly what I mean by the transition to Trahearne did not work well. A lot of players have no respect for him because he does not feel like a hero alongside us.

I think the problem was they tried so hard to make it feel like our story that they crippled the ability for us to respect the commander of the Pact. If they gave Trahearne some Heroic cut-scene a few times to show his progression from scholar to commander then I think people would like him a lot better.

They said why they made the most recent change in the patch notes. Basically someone made a good argument on why they should be removed and they listened.

This change is being made to ensure new players focus on learning the core game experience.

While I do think they don’t want you to farm extensively I don’t think that is the reason why they removed them from the low level areas.

Note: I have nothing against champ farms in high level areas.

Solution to fix the population imbalance

in WvW

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I was waiting for the GvG CDI to talk about that.

Let’s embrace the Mega Server and get rid of servers for ever. Transforming WvW into a kind of GvG game mode.

How is this possible?

  • Don’t need to change any WvW gameplay mechanic.
  • Create a individual score for Guilds that will serve just to determine the Guild position on a Ladder.
  • The Top 30 Guilds in the Ladder will play on Tier 1, 10 Guilds on each color. (Devs can better determine the number of guilds)
  • Lower Tiers can have more guilds participating as lower as the tier.
  • Better rewards for Tier 1 1st place, and decreasing according to the position and Tier. Tier 1 3rd place receive a better reward than Tier 2 1st place. It will give a reason for Guilds to want to progress to a higher tier.

Issues

*The fact that a player can represent multiple guilds.

*The community of this game don’t react well to drastic changes, even if the change is for better.

You forgot the fact that there are a lot of players who are not on massive or even semi-massive WvW Guilds.

Many champion events in the starter maps have been converted into veterans. This change is being made to ensure new players focus on learning the core game experience.

I am confused. Are people running a champ train on vets?

Is it worth selling my Twilight ?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

Correct me if I am wrong but….. Unlocking Twilight in the wardrobe should have account bound the item. At least that is my understanding for as it is documented on the wiki.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wardrobe

WTB better patch notes on mechanics so we don’t have to guess if something is a working as designed or not. Or in cases like these if it is a possible exploit or not.

Now combining it with sunrise and selling Eternity I could see that as something that is valid.

I swap out utility skills and weapons all the times depending on the situation. My Traits match that of my prefered playstyle. So what does it matter what my build is before I go to the dungeon as long as I have something on me that will make it work and I am light on my feet.

I find knowing how to be light on your feet and positioning is more important than my build.

We Are Not Metrics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

Metrics are tools, nothing more.

The problem with too much focus on metrics is that you tend to design a game to match the metrics instead of innovating. I hope that ArenaNet understands this or they will fall pray to the same problem that the social game industry fell into. Too Many Clones. (Or is the AAA gaming industry already at that problem).

Extra Credits: Metrics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqGcXOksFGg

The above video explains another reason that is applicable to Guild Wars 2. Often metrics based games create inaccessible products only accessible to a niche player-base. This is perhaps what happened in the initial development of this game. Leading to a complete re-design of core systems.

Misconceptions regarding Level gating.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I just want to quickly add, there are some errors on this chart of how stuff is unlocking, as well as 1st character vs. account unlocks when some of these systems were carried between regions. We’re trying to identify what happened and repair those things assigned the wrong account/character fields, as well as levels.

Can you expand on this please, it’s extremely vague and unclear. Does that mean that the changes to the new leveling system were meant to be for first characters only and things will be reverted for all veteran players as far as the alt experience?

I would take that as anything not in the patch notes related to this system has a likelyhood of being a localization error. Expect a patch sometime.

Low enough that it does not register on the drop rate research. So I would say it would be less then 5%(vary rare chance so rare it can be said it almost never happens).

Lets talk about the new Gem conversion [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: anzenketh.3759

anzenketh.3759

I can understands people’s confusion on trading gems for gold. I had to spend a lot of time messing with the numbers to get just the right price for the gems I want. The problem here is that if I am buying gems with gold the minimum denomination is too high. I frequently bought gems with gold when I had a little extra gold around. However I rarely bought them in greater denominations then 100. A lot of people liked the gold to gems conversion because then they could buy the majority of their gems with cash. Then use the conversion system to buy the rest of the amount. This system of buying the rest of the gems that you need with gold negated the “Microsoft Points” feeling of the system.

The system now is now more like the way the Microsoft Points system was in the past. The following is a critical review of the Psychology of the points system.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/34589/Analysis_The_Psychology_Of_Microsoft_Points.php

I think that a lot of people would be fine with a middle ground of having the minimum number of gems that you can buy with gold be 100. A much better option is add a additional button next to the buy more with cash to allow us to trade a custom amount bringing the page to the old system.

CDI- Guilds- Logistics and QOL

I see a variety of comments on feeling more attachment to a specific guild and a lot of talk of the # of guilds people are a part of and the fear that is causing a lack of attachment. This lack of attachment keeps players players from being compelled to belong to any of their guilds instead of being compelled to belong to all of them

With all due respect Mr. Peters,

I believe the ability to join multiple guilds on this game is should not have existed at all. Very simply, it discourages guild loyalty and defeats the entire purpose of joining a guild in the first place.

Guilds are supposed to be a dedicated, close knit group of people. An ideal scenario would be a flourishing, active community in-game AND outside of the game, supported by communication programs such as IRC/forums/voice. The system now? Guilds having half the people not representing. Highly inactive/non-existent offsite interaction. Guilds are typically a hi-bye affair in the game.

People who say “I represent this guild today for WvW, then that guild tomorrow for PvE”this isn’t how guilds are supposed to work. In my opinion anyway. Guilds are groups where people do different things together – not a “I come as I like” place. People who represent different guilds on different days as and when they like are akin to clan-hoppers.

But obviously, this isn’t just the fault of guild hoppers alone. The guild system design in this game is absolutely sub par – you want people to know as many different groups of people as possible, but do not allow players to participate in the chat of guilds they are not representing. This, to me is the biggest problem about the guild system, because it renders useless the participation of a player, simply because he/she does not know what is happening in other guilds.

I respect your decision to give people the ability to join multiple guilds, but I still believe it was a wrong one.

I can understand where this is coming from. I have played many MMORPGs which adapt the one guild per character system. So, basically, players will put their main characters in the main guild. Not only that, guilds in some MMORPGs have very limited slots. So, their alts might not even be allowed in the guild.

The players belonging to those guilds are much closer to each other in comparison to the players in Guild Wars 2. Perhaps, players are forced to interact with each other and these forceful interactions breed meaningful interactions.

Sadly, in guild wars 2, I have observed that many guilds are being treated like a service or running like a service provider while players are just numbers to perform certain activities. This type of guild is pretty meaningless, dull, uninteresting and pointless.

Some people might think that this is just a game and doesn’t have to get that serious into it; attachment, sense of belonging, loyalty, pride, etc. However, I think that a game can only be truly fun and interesting if people get that serious into it.

Great points here and I think what I am hinting at is that if there was a way to maintain the current guild functionality of multiple guilds but also add a way to really commit to a singular guild what are the features old and new that you think are important for your basic guilds vs your, for lack of a better term, “home” guild.

Jon

Yes there may be ways to maintain the current guild functionality of multiple guilds but also have a way to really commit to a singular guild players are already doing it that is why so many guilds have a massive amount of players not representing they are currently at that time likely representing their main guild. But are any changes really needed here. If a guild leader does not want to run the guild with low representation for players then they can simple part ways from the player that does not represent them a lot. Guilds already set login requirements. As much as I hate to say it as I am even personally against login requirements perhaps just like you added last login you should also add a last represented or a % represented field. That way guilds can govern themselves based upon their playstyle and what they are expecting from a guild. I personally don’t find anything wrong with having some guilds as a service. The problem being described I feel is a Guild Governance problem not a mechanics or game-play problem.

You made some really good points regarding communication. I can tell you they are working on it and aware that it is a problem. There is a large thread about that very topic.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Communicating-with-you/first

I’m only lvl 14 but so far I’m having a blast!…don’t think that means anything though :P

Your comment sounds like you are new to the game. Welcome to the game. The fact that you are level 14 and having a blast means quite a bit. Being it is anecdotal evidence but it might calm some fears that more veteran players have regarding new players and the new system.

Don’t let the hoha about the recent patch get too you too much. A lot of people are upset because things changed. Change is never handled well by people in general. Especially when it effects things that some players enjoyed doing. Experience the game for what it is now. If you have feedback provide it.

I’m not discounting your other comments, and thanks for them. But I have to quote that bit ^ and respond: Yes, Yes, and Yes again! By all that Dwayna holds holy, I truly wish we could get a functional search engine!

It’s no secret that the forum software has some noticeable issues. We don’t have the ability to fix Search, just as we cannot address a few other things we’d like to tackle. I’m really sorry that it can be difficult to efficiently use the forum. Quite honestly, I’m absolutely delighted when I see someone was able to find links to old threads and provide them in current thread. In fact, I often find myself wondering "How long did it take that poor forum member to find those links? )

This is something we’re looking into, and there may be a couple of ways we can address it, even as we examine both short-term and long-term solutions.

“How long did it take that poor forum member to find those links? )”

We use Google. Or some of us just keep a list of common threads.

1.) Go to google
2.) Type
term site:https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu

Or just setup a Google custom search like I did. Perhaps ArenaNet could replace the search bar with a Google custom search. I don’t know the legal/monetary issues behind it so I can not say. It also won’t search inside of a thread but it returns more valid results then the current search does.
