Do Not Nerf Turret Engi

Turrets are actually surprisingly hard to destroy even when the engie isn’t there. It really makes no sense. And when the engie is there, it’s very hard to do anything about him. I understand that the automatic response is going to be L2P, but really. If someone was to objectively make a list (no one here for sure) about what builds beat other builds, things that turret engies are good against and what they are bad against would likely be the most skewed list.

Turret engies are actually bad against a LOT of builds because how much their immobility can be exploited. They’re just good at holding a point, especially if the point has a decent amount of LOS and high ledges to place turrets.

No way. Sounds too fun. Also, I’d rather GS remove 2 acondies from self and allies. Could be a neat way to add a little tad bit of support and minion support on demand.

I’d love it. But it won’t happen, don’t even start dreaming. If they did this they would very well over compensate with base-line nerfs elsewhere. Just look at the mess Tainted Shackles and Dhuumfire caused.

This is why they suggest just going full zerker in PvE. And honestly, it’s one of my absolute least favorite qualities of GW2 is it has been a vicious cycle of Burst harder and make more 1 shot mechanics to slow down the burst, rinse and repeat. This cycle has absolutely killed the ability to pseudo tank, and I’m really not sure why it had to come to that. I always loved tanking and I think being able to play a self-sufficient tank without the need of healers so the burst could do their thing better would have been phenomenal, but alas I fear its far too late for that sort of change.

While we’re at it, can we get the cast/summon time reduced a bit? One second would be really nice…

Exactly. If the Shadow Fiend and Flesh golem cleaved up to 3 targets, and the Flesh Wurm would have an AOE where it hits its primary target (pass suggestions) and reduced the cast times, we’d be in business for PVE. They spawn in .5 seconds in water! Not to mention, you’d think they’d be fine with them being faster casted, considering they take a moment to latch on to a target when they spawn at the caster. Bone minions with a significantly faster cast time might actually see some use, which would be glorious.

Just use one of your 900 interrupts before you stealth if you notice you’re being latched into. Can’t have more of a tell than already having been hit by a channel.

Spirit ranger has high defense but not because of spirits. Its because 5 points into wilderness survival + sword/dagger + short bow = a kitten ton of evades. Those “tools” are universal. Spirits themselves have an aoe 2 second immob and a blind on decent cooldowns, unusable if the spirit is dead, 0 stunbreakers and no on demand condition removal. Yeah, I’ll stick by my statement that SPIRIT rangers have little to defend themselves outside of what rangers can all do.

I wish all classes had a unique dodge… Would help with visual ques in PVP (especially with Asura in the mix) and overall would just be more fun, so long as none of them were too flashy and overbearing.

I just wish shears were a bit better. I feel like they only have one purpose, to keep bushes in check… Beyond that, they’re practically outclassed in every way by the lawnmower, basically low reward for the effort required to use them.

They’re easy to be mobile and counter one thing and somehow that keeps them a spot in the toolbox, but any slight change to the mower or weedwhacker would push shears right out of the box and you’d probably never see them again. Which makes me sad because shears were my first tool…. :/

Anyone else get this feeling?

pfft, shears don’t belong in the toolbox anyways because hedge trimmers are superior. Of course both hedge trimmers and shears are both worthless if the bush is running a bunker build with the Thick Branches traitline.

Whatever. I don’t particularly enjoy being talked down to elitist landscapers, this is why interior designers never mess with the landscape scene. Well whatever. I’ll just wait until The next tool innovation pass, and if the tool shed doesn’t see some significant changes, I’ll probably just let the weeds overrun and stick to decorating my house, or just move entirely.

While this is a thing and incredibly cheesy, luckily it doesn’t have too much of an effect on sPvP. That said PU is still much over the top.

Remove Aegis from the pool, reduce to 50% increased stealth = perfect.

Basically removed any kind of sustain abilities so mesmers can go back to the bottom of the food chain like it use to be… ! ……………Right?

There’s a big difference between outfits and skins. Outfits are whole-armor covers generally sold for gems. It goes over armor but cannot be mix-and-matched. Armor skins however require transmutations, and change the appearance of an armor in the Wardrobe. Full armor sets are not Outfits, they’re just a full set of skins, and thus will always need to manually be transmuted.

You can’t be seriously suggesting a block and a knockdown is equal to 3 Arden per target within just 180 radius.

Outrage is literally a “stun break” utility, the adrenaline is mostly for Rage skill flavor. Bandit’s Defense is more of a counter-attack and is by far stronger even with a 15 second cool down.

I know thieves have their issues, but Bandit’s Defense potency, even post nerf, is not one of them…

From what i also understand these bursts will count as 3 bars, removing 3 condi more often with ire. Guards will be jelly either way as they wont be a king of burn anymore haha.

unfortunately, i think only the “damage level” will count as 3 bars. for cleansing ire purposes i think it still counts as 1 bar.

that is what i think, at least.

Cele necro is also too bunker’ish if you ask me, takes forever to take one down while able to pressure alot.

That’s called being a balanced fighter. Notice how, unlike Cele Ele, Necro also can’t burst you down like crazy either. That’s how it should be. (unless you’re high on condition damage and little removal, they can make you burst yourself down lol.) nothing wrong with a Balanced fighter, so long as it’s just that. A jack of all trades and not able to still literally melt people. Celestial is the only way many builds can even work due to lack of stat customization…

I don’t really feel its balanced if you can survive 2v1 for over a minute while pressuring them, eventually making one of them disengage to reset few seconds..

Erm. Who is having troubles 2v1ing a Cele necro? They don’t have the evasion for that type of thing… They should be fairly well locked down at that point.

Cele Ele? Yeah, we’ve established they’re OP. That’s not a Celestial issue. It’s an issue with Elementalist capabilities (blind spam, high condi removal, perma regen + water hot + signet + perma protection + Fire-field area denial, and high evades. AKA too much in one package). Celestial… pretty much anything else isn’t an issue, as most do very little damage and don’t have great sustain, kind of what you’d expect of a celestial user.

taunt sounds lame. the rest is cool though.

Taunt in the way it’s being used is a VERY fun mechanic from experience. It works how taunts worked in Bloodline Champions, and it was freaking awesome. It’s SLIGHTLY different, but mostly the same. I think it’ll have neat combos with confusion stacking.

Um. You don’t need to play it to realize you want to be able to chose what you’re doing. Easy way to prove it, say you hit que and you could either end up in pvp or in a dungeon with 4 others and you had no say about it and was punished if you left, youd quickly realize why this is a bad idea. They are vastly different modes.

Didn’t read through every comment. BUT! If it’s selfish that we “cry” for our cultural set then so be it. Give it back and make every cultural available to everyone. We’ll be fine then.

Sometimes time of owning something and having prestige in its prime is the reward. Prime example is WoW originally had Flying costing 1,000 gold and Dual Specs at 1000 gold. Later the next expansions it’s now something like 250g for flying and 10g for dual specs. (And that actually effects the gameplay!)

Games develop and things change. It’s not like they made the real armor cheaper and buyable (Btw even the current is buyable from real cast it just costs 2x as much), but people don’t all like flames, and you already know the prestige won’t be the same as the original. That doesn’t mean the game can’t progress to be fun and introduce new stuff, sometimes people take a hit that doesn’t seem “fair” right off but its part of the game moving on. If we continue down this road of “they released something that looks cooler than me so I’ll cry about it”, this game will literally not progress. We’d have already been at the end game and may as well quit because the “pro” players who spent friggen 120g (rollseyes) has the full sayso of what can and cannot be implemented in the game or they’re throw a fit. I don’t mean to be rude but please heed my warning. You’re attitudes will ruin any fun and progressive additions to the game.

FYI no one in WoW has EVER gotten a refund due to prices lowering. You just take it as, cool my next alt will be less expensive and move on… They added a perfectly beautiful set here and people truly enjoyed it, and that’s taken away due to a sense of pride. Think about it.

The reason the new skills and weapons are locked is because the trait lines are sub-classes. They develop your class into an entirely secondary class. According to the devs, a Reaper (for example) will actually take on the class title of a Reaper and even use its own unique class icon in groups. As such a basic necromancer is not trained for Reaper tactics, including Reaper chants, Reaper weapon-fighting and reaper trait abilities.

It’s a matter of perspective, but without these, they would just be “another traitline” and lack the flair that they possess.

It’s fairly simple. When the benefit from combining 3 base outweighs the benefit you get baseline from the specialization, and you don’t plan on using that weapon or utilities. This will likely happen more times than you’d think.

They could always add a Pure class baseline boost though. For anyone with 3 base specializations they gain some sort of baseline effect, couldn’t hurt, but I really doubt it’ll be necessary for people to still run baseline builds.

Quickness and Slow needs to be 25%. There should be no such thing as “elite” boons and conditions. They’re just too powerful.

Similarly, Resistance will be exploited and is just as terribly designed as Protection. Anywhere uptime on a boon can be exploited, it will. I feel like these things should have been trough out sooner.

That’s a really painful nerf to terrormancer because the boon removal was somewhat vital to the usefulness of terror, and combined with everything else we’re losing, this is too much.

Well, and it breaks a play style which is something they had originally said they wanted to avoid, which is why I added it to the list.

I don’t spend a lot of time looking at the stats UI, so I always look for individual items as well on there. I wouldn’t go attacking the devs over that.

That was just a single scenario of them doing something questionable. It has happened quite a bit. These are people who supposedly work on this stuff and tamper with these things, they should know where things are. There’s a difference in a player who makes a build and plays a lot and doesn’t look at stats and someone who should be looking at this stuff a lot, while developing abilities, especially healing ones…. If anyone should be deeply knowledgeable about stats its people creating new abilities. Just saying.

The goal is to make Necromancer not completely fight against team mates in combat. The design concept of making it harder for your team to even play with you is dated and needs fixed. Originally, it didn’t matter much. gW2 didn’t really have healers. At least, not in the same magnitude as there will be in HOT. If healing was a dominant role early in GW2 development, this conclusion of not recording heals in DS would have never made it to live.

Obviously, the answer isn’t simple. And I had thought of other means, such as a unique Necromancer mechanic that “absorbs” all of the healing received (baseline) and heals it over 10 seconds when you exit Shroud, or split LF and Health healing 50/50 from incoming heals in Shroud. Either way, the main focus is to allow us to work in teams without causing frustrations of poor mechanics fighting one another.

Why don’t you just add your comment to one of the other 500 existing turret threads? Your addition isn’t so important that it dictates another thread. We get people don’t like turrets, but we don’t need everyone’s individual thoughts, that all tend to be the exact “they shouldn’t even exist” notion, on separate note cards.

I love how all those silly people were all “Eles are fine, it’s just a l2p issue” and as a result of not tuning them down, 4 and 5 ele teams have won tournaments, had rules shaped around them, some of the biggest lash backs that I’ve seen in a long time, and unlike Turrets, they plague the late game and have perfectly acceptable mobility.

Blows my mind people can be so selfish. And shame on ANet with this one. Dhuumfire was nerfed in like two days and wasn’t half the balance problem Elementalists are causing.

Ele’s are fine but it’s not a l2p issue. Don’t blame the class when an amulet gives 700/920 more stats than other amulets. To this day, I don’t understand why each amulet doesn’t have the total amount of stats. Seems like a clear balancing choice to me.

Again with the silly amulet argument. You’re wrong. Go play Celestial on a thief or whatever if you think it’s the amulet. It’s class mechanics that makes ele so powerful, not the amulet. It has bonus stats because you have to when you stretch stats so thin. Little do people realize before the class power creep, Celestial was never used and had to get buffed 10%, and still wasn’t used frequently until Ele and Warrior was buffed to be able to take advantage of the mix of stats, but it still had to do with the class. Notice how Shoutbow isn’t a thing anymore after nerfing the base heal?

It’s not an amulet problem or everyone would use it. It’s the class.

I change my post a bit. Its the amulet plus might stacking. If you took away might stacking, cele ele will hit like wet noodles. Celestrial thief does work but not in capture mode…

It works, but it’s not a “problem”. That’s pretty much how a lot of options should be. A good majority of the time, Celestial is used because we have such poor control over our stats. Killing Celestial would screw over a lot more than fix a secluded issue.

Ele have very notable balance issues, no need to mess up other things to fix the single outlier.

well, I’m ALL for removing class stacking. I hate just about any 5x team. 5 bunker guardians, 5 mesmers, 5 warriors, 5 engineer, you name it. Even if it’s beatable it’s almost guaranteed VERY annoying.

This is amazing lore work… This is exactly the type of thing MMO companies need to add to their world and lore to make characters feel less flat. Amazing decision. And I hate playing Sylvari! I do have one though so it might make me play my guardian a bit, but I think it’s really cool.

They just need to do MORE of this type of thing with all races, then no one has to feel left out. Non-progression/combat race uniqueness is exactly how races should be handled.

•Evasion is still applied immediately upon using the skill.
•Fixed an issue that caused the player to stop moving momentarily when using this skill on opponents behind the thief.

There’s an actual window for play now so thieves can’t spam the kitten out of it like a bunch of wusses.

Why should he not have people arguing against him? As far as I know, this is a discussion forum, not a boot-licker one – and I am willing to argue against anyone regardless of their position within the PvP scene if their suggestions seem out of place, and in this case, brutal without any compensation for Hammer as a whole

Fanboys will be fanboys. It happens everywhere, people overvalue the opinion of people the idolize. Not worth trying to change that behavior, it won’t ever happen.

works under 33% when necro has same trait in grandmaster slot for 50%? I didn’t look at thief changes, but I think it stayed with 50%.
Make it 50% to compensate or back to adept, nothing more to say

Different classes and mechanics. necro burst is generally slower and can’t be compacted like an elementalists burst. I’d rather thief match ele instead. :P

As said, the reason is 100%, you don’t need 2 people to stand on a cap. With only 3 points any more than 1 thief doing his job, which no other class can match, is wasted potential. They rely on mobility and stealth for defense so even if they are to win a fight they are easy to decap against, their role is to solidify small skirmishes and take nodes, which they do better than anyone else.

If you expect them to change that and add more stay-power to thief you’d best be expecting a loss in mobility to offset it, which I’m not sure many thieves would be happy about.

Wait for Daredevil, it might work out.
