You don’t need to collect actual spores, just harvesting at a node. Even if no spores come out it counts. Done in 5 minutes. OP chose the slowest most annoying way for this daily.

Skins bought in the gem store should appear in the same menu the Zenith weapons do.
I have no problem with the skin being soulbound per character but what really stinks is that if I want to get this new armor I have to lose the phoenix armor because the set is celestial and the runes are traveler. I would have to pay over 70 gold to replace the runes and 30 days of making the stupid celestial crystals to use this new armor skin. It is cheaper for me to buy a new phoenix set than to use the transmutation splitters and the cost/time of the set I am currently using are too high to make again.
Can we please have armor/weapon skins that are gem store items available more than once on a character that has unlocked it?! Make it character bound if you want it on more than 1 character then by all means make us buy more but for the same character it is not right.
I know this has been asked multiple times but the cost is getting to high to get new sets for each skin. I would think you would sell more skins if people did not have to factor in the rune/stat costs every time they wanted a new look.
What I mean by the title is make is so you can buy just one or 2 pieces of a armor instead of buying it as a whole set.
Lets say if I just wanted to get the krytan medium chest armor I would have to buy the whole set and then be left with armor I wont use and can’t do much with it but toss it into my bank or delete it. But if you made it so I can buy just the chest piece ( or any other piece) a lot more people would spend the gems on armor you can even make it so buying each piece separately is more expensive then buying the set like the med krytan is currently 500gems if you make each piece 100gems then it would cost 600 gems if you bought it all separately then as a set. The 800gem armors would be like 150gems for each piece making it 900gems total.
I know I would personally love being able to buy certain pieces of armor skins I mean I can buy what ever armor look I want in game separately just not in the gem store.
Its an introduction for the whole story arc, just like the first update in the Flame and Frost story arc didn’t give you anything to do other than fixing signs.
Flame and Frost didn’t get any better after that, I have my doubts about this as well.

Tried it 2×. Only got Tot bags. I’m pretty sure I got the witch hat on all my characters last year. So I have to spend 800-1000 gems to buy another character slot to get a free mask. Pass. Just another ploy for the gem store.
The real ploy is giving you a bunch of limited time junk that’ll sit in your bank for months until you splurge on a new bank slot.
If you didn’t receive the mask, try participating in Mad King Says using a character that did not receive a Mad King Says reward (Witch’s Hat) last year. This should get around the issue and let you get the Mask of the Night.

Wait this was a halloween event? I thought it was a candy corn grindfest story with magical candycorn people …
Tower of Nightmares just came out and the Labyrinth is a ghost town, and not spooky ghosts.
Why did they over run their premier holiday event with a re-skinned Scarlet event? The candy corn grind to get the Bloody Prince Thorn mini had gotten even worst since you can not even grind for it in the labyrinth. (and I think they just make the labyrinth harder now so it is impossible since no one is there).
Where did the GW1 spirit of Halloween go?
I still say 1-2k for an accountbound bag once per account would have been a better approach. They’ve given us a soulbound 10-slot bag last year, a 15-slot back for wintersday, and a 20-slot bag for southsun (at least I think they were “free” I can’t quite remember).
They can do limited purchases (see the laurel merchant and the start mats), and they can do soul/accountbound bags (see last Halloween).
It would take candy corn out of the tp (because people would actually be able to afford it) and everyone gets something to remember this Halloween.
If I remember, last year they “sold” a 0 gem devil horn hat, gave us a witches hat, a 10-slot soulbound bag (remember the game had only been out for ~2 months and no fractals for “free” 20 slot bags, so it was still a nice gesture and useful to some), and let us get both versions of Mad Memories.
This year we got a free mini, a candy corn node, and the mask. And we have to buy the bag and another mini.
The candy corn node is great, but it would have been nice if there was less grind (or at least obtainable grind for those that really wanted it) for festive items.
I just did mad king says and did everything right I only did a emote when he said “Mad King says” and the event finished and it said success and I got a achievement and opened the chest and there was only candy inside and no mask whilst 2 players said they got a mask…

Without giving anything away, I will say that the Kessex Hills you’ll see in November (and December, and next year…) is not the same as the one we had last week.
Well, way back at launch (and eve since) people said they wanted more armors and that they’d be willing to buy them from the gemstore if they would simply give us more armors.
We should be more careful what we wish for.

Seriously, if I wanted to have to “Finish Them” with foes, I’d be in PvP or WvW. I do not like the idea of being FORCED to finish foes in PvE, with multiple mobs still trying to kill my happy little buns, in PvE! Yep, may get flamed for this, but hey. I’m a PvE bunny. I don’t ask that my PvE preferences be carted over to PvE/WvW, I do ask that those preferences not become a requirement in PvE. So far, I’m really happy with everything else in this story, but that part of it’s really, REALLY beginning to peeve me.
They did this head-scratching move, but did not bother to fix the soft wood plank recipe?
Concerning your suggestions i don’t see the point to have this in the Hero panel (that’s just personnal preferences maybe).
I rather really would like on my side to have one (or maybe two) mini slots next to the skill bar (on the main interface screen) to put whaever you can click on that you would like to use anytime. A mini-pet. A potion. A food consummable.
I am curious if others would be interested in this as an upgrade.
Adding food and buff items to the hero panel seems more natural to me than pulling them from the inventory. In fact I have an odd habit of hitting H now when I want to apply food or sharpening stones.
If my sharpening stones were with my armor and weapons in the H panel, they’d be easier to find instead of hunting through my rapidly filling inventory in the middle of a dungeon or WvW match.
Even better might be a small consumable bag off to the side somewhere simular to the wallet but—again—added to the hero panel.
I’m interested in the forums thoughts. Also, what do others do with their food to make it easy to get to?
They won’t do this because they want you to take as long as possible to craft the ascended gear. Gear progression is their illusion of content that’s supposed to keep you in the game.
i just got an ascended chest drop for the first time today…
i have a zerker warrior, zerk guard, zerk mez, zerk ranger, zerk thief, and am making another zerk warrior.
i would have been really happy if i could have got rabid stats or something so i could have a cond war in wvw or something…..

The way btween 400 and 500 crafting level is what I really find atrocious.
You cannot craft ascended components until you’re at 450.
The first 25 points are OK since you can get them just refining t6 materials, but it’s preety much exo crafting from 425 to 450, exos that suddenly flood the market and are not BiS items anymore.
If a future extension of crafting disciplines was expected, then the cap should had been set at 450 long time ago. This way people could had it leveled just by regular use of professions. .
Right now, it doesn’t matter how much you used your crafting disciplines, be it for self gearing or marketing, over the last year; you need to start from scratch and you’re forced to sell whatever you get under production costs or just recycle it for a chance on dark matter.
If the cap was expected to remain at 400 forever and was extended only because a late development decision, then ascended componet crafting should have started just at 400.
When you reach 450, you can finally craft ascended components. You should had been able to do that long before but at least you’re free now from that stupid exo crafting … until you realize that those componets can’t level you past 475.
At this point you (probably) have enough material for an ascened weapon in your bank, but neither you can craft it nor you can keep leveling your profession through components. You’re forced to exotics, again, and a nice bunch of them to be honest.
It’s unnatural. It’s just a cheap resource sink, a development choice that’s related to some kind of game wide macroeconomical reasons but which doesn’t make any sense at all for an individual player.
With few words, ascended component crafting should have started from whatever the previous crafting cap was, and it should have been enough to level the profession up to ascended weapon crafting. What we have now is a bad joke.
The last nail in the coffin is that you can’t even sell the weapons. You can sell some components, but since having the profession leveled to 500 is an absolute must in order to get the weapons themselves, the market is limited to some anxious buyers that want the time gating gone.
It also forces every player who want an ascended weapon to level a profession to 500, increasing even more the number of exotics that flood the market. It makes every low tier material to skyrocket in price too, since they’re used for both ascended componenets and profession leveling (This allows newcomers to make some money from gathering at least, probably the only one positive thing I can find on this disaster).
I don’t want even think on what’s gonna happen with ascended armor if it’s delivered on a similar way. I mean, there are neither cloth nor leather nodes, they’re get mainly from recycle and loot is usually delivered at character level (usually 80). It’s gonna be “fun” to see tons of players farming with alts and/or zerging low level events looking for recyclable rags.
There’s a lot of complaints about time gating too. While I’m not a big fan of time gated content, I don’t see it as awful as many other things.
From the perspective of profession leveling you can speed it up through exos (more resource sink) and from a market perspective, it’s currently the only thing that allows some kind of market to even exist :S
A lot of complaints too from WvW players. I supported them when ascended rings appeared, since they forced them to invest too many hours on PvE content.
I have to disagree this time; every single material needed for ascendeds can be obtained in WvW.
I completely understand that node mining is not exactly the task a WvW player loves to do, but neither do I as a PvE player. As a dungeon/sPvP player, I’m absolutely forced to activities I dislike in order to get ascendeds.
Finally I don’t want to invest too much time writing about ascended weapons as regular drops, neither about their extreme rarity nor about their random stats.
I just want to point that it could had been cool to improve some loot, like fractal weapons for example, to ascended, but for some reason developers thought that BiS gear fit extremelly well with the challenging nature of champ training (which is stupidly profitable even without this).

I agree, the addition of ascended weapons was done terribly. It was the last straw that completely killed whatever was left of their manifesto.

So the time-gating really just got in the way of the casual players while the rich/hardcore players just bought their way around it or marathon farmed it.
Timegating always gets more in the way of casuals than hardcores. Even if they cannot be sidestepped (like in this case), only hardcores can be expected to “clear” a timegate everytime it comes up. Casuals will ocasionally (and sometimes not even so occasionally) fail to clear the gate in time (due to not having enough mats, not having enough time, or doing something else, because it seemed more fun then).
Diminishing return is a way better method of slowing down hardcores.
