I truly hope this is a joke. The Nazi’s DO NOT hold the patent on the swastika. That symbol is older than even the vikings use of it. It has been a religious symbol long before the Nazi’s use of it. Anyone who says it’s only a racist symbol is as ignorant as the Nazi’s themselves.

Color blind gamer: Issues seeing red circles

in Suggestions

TimeBomb.3427

Hi. I’d like to have a discussion in regards to the issue of red circles, the ones made on the ground by enemies right before an AoE hits, and the issues that I, and surely others, have due to being color blind.

If I recall correctly, I’m red/green color blind. I haven’t done a ton of dungeons, though usually when I do them, I played ranged. As a ranged player, I often have less enemy’s closely surrounding me, which allowed me to more easily see/notice the red circles on the ground. When I play melee anything, it often becomes quite a bit more difficult for me to see/notice the red circles.
Also note that it’s slightly easier for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is light, and it is very difficult for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is dark.

I consider myself a good player overall. I am quite competent when it comes to any kind of combat in GW2. I’ve done well in general PvE of course, as well as SPvP and some dungeons. Often the harder it is for me to see the red circles on the ground (and the more necessary it is to see them, i.e. with certain bosses), the worse I do.

I opened this thread for two reasons. To see if any other color blind gamers out there are ever having similar issues, and to discuss what possible solutions we can apply to this problem.

My goal here isn’t to make it easier for everyone to see the red circles as to lower the necessary skill level, my goal is to allow color blind gamers such as myself to be on par with non-color blind gamers.
Offering alternative colors could be a solution, or perhaps just a gray color. Making the circles brighter would probably help as well.

Make sure to press the +1 button on the right of this post if you agree. If you can’t see the upvote button, you can just go to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Color-blind-gamer-Issues-seeing-red-circles/768500/upvote to +1 it. Thanks!

Yes or No: Manifesto Represents the Game?

the manifesto is just a marketing gimmick
and a very good one at that

the fools are those who really believed in that
and those who did, should remember the “fool me once, fool me twice” thing before the next storm coming

how do you lawsuit a marketing gimmick?
does ‘lemon law’ apply in this case?
if you go to a hospital and then you die or not cured of the illness, do you think you’re not charged for the service?
the hospital can put in manifesto/marketing/slogan/whatsoever and bad thing will still happen

let me repeat, it’s just a bloody marketing gimmick
i suggest everyone to remember this very well before the next disappointment comes

Formal statement from ANet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sumii.2845

Sumii.2845

As the title states, I would implore ArenaNet to give us a ‘sum up’ of all their discussions back in the Dev’s room; ie: any discussions as to the state of affairs from recent events, a change of direction?, a misunderstanding, etc. etc.

I ask this because I believe by being silent or relying on week old vague and circular statements they are doing more damage than any sort of good.

Since the announcement of Lost Shores & Ascended Gear we’ve had the following happen:

  • A large (primarily negative – I think most would agree) outcry of people on the forums in regards to Ascended Gear and power creep / gear treadmill. This did receive a very vague answer from one of the Devs, but was never followed up on.
  • A large (primarily negative) number of threads on the forums (myself included) in regards to poor implementation of last weekend’s event. Moderators merged threads and eventually locked it, however no formal response from a Dev
  • A (possibly misunderstood / mistakenly identified) change in the direction that the game was originally shown to consumers. This includes the so hotly discussed manifesto that many point to as guidelines for the game
  • A noticeable change in the economy due to a spike in precursor sales due to the event – another hotly contested forum topic (if it’s not locked immediately)
  • A large amount of posts by moderators being locked, merged, deleted / logging infractions against – due to posts not being ‘constructive criticism’ or ‘overly negative’.

I’m sure there is plenty more items I’ve missed, but I want to address these issues primarily:

I believe (and this is my opinion as a paid consumer) that it serves no purpose in being silent in regards to these issues. A statement that says “We’re looking into it” does not put the masses at ease. And in all honesty, you’ll never be able to quell all the masses, but you can at least address the majority.

If, for example, you (ArenaNet) were to announce formally that the game was indeed changing directions and stated your reasons as such, while many consumers would be upset (understandably) or even saddened, they would respect the fact that you addressed the issue directly. Again, simply stating “We appreciate everyone’s input, we’re reading it, looking into it” is a response that offers no actual information to the consumer and if anything it puts them even less at ease. By stating you’re looking into it means eventually you’re going to provide an answer. Some of the posts saying “You’ll look into it” have gone by the way side since, leaving many consumers questioning why you even made the post initially.

If you (ArenaNet) stated at length how this was a misunderstanding and pointed out directly to your manifesto or whatever you use as guidelines now and outlined them in a detailed fashion, just as you would in a Dev meeting), I think it would again put many consumers at ease.

Liking / Disliking [Constructive Feedback]

in The Lost Shores

Posted by: GregT.4702

GregT.4702

So far, about this event…
I’m liking:

  • Storyline and storytelling
  • Quality of in-game communication about event (through mails et cetera)
  • Quality of out of game communication about how event is intended to play (forum, wiki, site for event, etc)
  • Fractals of the Mists first impressions, particularly diversity of content and gorgeous level art

I’m disliking:

  • Abysmal quality assurance of event, and buggy coding.
    – The Karka Invasion event in Lion’s Arch was unplayable due to server-side issues. Got to watch a bunch of stuff die very slowly and jerkily while my skills refused to fire.
    - Canach is bugged. (I’m on Yak’s Bend.)
    - The Largos is bugged.
    - As a result both these major quest lines cannot be progressed.
    - Could not join party members in Lion’s Arch because their overflows were full.
    - Could not play Karka attack events in Caledon Forest as Karka will not render.
    - Entering a fractal strips my food buff.
    - On party wipe in a fractal sometimes not all of party are able to resurrect.
  • New Mystic Flush mechanic to receive commendations.
    - Commendations seem worthless. Why would anyone flush enough stuff to get one of those exotic Lionguard weapons when you can buy a comparable weapon on the TP for 1.5 gold, or get the same skin for ~60k karma?
  • Consortium chests.
    - Once again drop rates are poor and the rewards are underwhelming.

Guys, I realise it’s hard to beta test events because you can’t get a realistic number of players online at once without spoiling the surprise. But if you can’t QA your event content better than this maybe you should just leave them alone and focus on things that won’t screw up within half an hour of going live? Especially if it’s only a three day event and a couple of hours of bugs are going to kill a significant percentage of the event’s running time.

UPDATE: As at 7 hours into event Canach and the Largos are still bugged on my server. That’s now over 1/8th of the total event time that the two major casual quest chains have been unplayable. I still like the idea of the event, and I still think the art, design and writing staff have done a great job on it, but the cripplingly poor technical implementation just completely overshadows that. No matter how much I want to like the event I just can’t when it’s not playable. If you can’t QA this stuff properly, or at least have a hell of a hotfix team standing by when it goes live, then don’t release as a time-limited event.

(Edit: Someone retitled my thread to include “Constructive Feedback”! Thank you, I guess?)

Clock Tower Camera Glitch

SoPP.7034

So, finally got the achievement and my first thought was to come here and post….

Forget the big toons that block your view, wait times or even platform/player detection.

BUT FIX THE CAMERA GLITCH

At the spot where you pause and have to wait just after you start. The platforms have to pop up in front of you before you can jump.

What does my camera do as I make the jump? Pushes up and zooms so far in I end up looking at my Asuran kitten instead of where I’m jumping. It turns into a ‘Leap of Faith’ and I do a series of little jumps and hope that I’m not too far left or right or the skeletons are going to get that piece of kitten I was just telling you about.

Difficulty was fine, but over coming the camera glitch was nothing to do with skill. Please fix.

This is really the final straw guys.. I can handle the nerfs to the rest of the game.. no punishment to farmers who spend all day getting gold only to lay down punishments to the rest of the community who has none.. the professions still in a state of imbalance.. PvP lacking so severely in so many aspects.. but honestly This puzzle could be a ton of fun but instead it seems to have been designed by a troll who simply enjoys greifing a community.

Yes its a jumping puzzle, yes they are supposed to be difficult, but making one Timed? thats rubbish. Specifically a Puzzle that is available only once a year and needed for achievements across a board.

So anet, with your terrible design choice here that alienates anyone who: Owns a sub par computer, lacks focus, lacks honed reflexes, cannot spend several hours learning every jump, has sub par internet, gets motion sickness, or is simply a casual player… what’s it gonna be?

I hope for more events like the clocktower in GW2's future

in Halloween Event

I hope not. Its a waste of developers time.

I dont care about difficulty level and frustration/fun but i care about that this kind of content is basically one-time minigame completely not attached to main game (out of place).

I think this kind of content should not be ‘abused’ in MMO’s.
This game isheavily instanced and i think that making even more instanced minigames that are disconnected from main world will not help game longevity.
I would prefer that they do 5 more events in open PvE world to make world more livind and varied that waste time for one time ‘fun tower’.

In short words: i dont play MMO’s for instanced, cheap super mario bros wannabe ripoffs.

And if AN want to do this kind of content they can basically port Super Mario to the game – it will be faster and far better that content like Clockwork Tower.

I dont even mention a fact that as almost everything in GW2 is very poorly tested and the engine and camera in GW2 is not very friendly for this kind of content (timed, very fast runs). Its not a console game.

My 2 cents.

I’ve completed the tower, but I’m going to actually agree with this.
Anyone who isn’t insanely dextrous or fortunate enough to own a powerful machine and fast internet is going to miss out on something they shouldn’t.

At least with other difficult jumping puzzles there is no rush, people can take their time to work it out correctly, but this just turns into something really unfair for a lot of people.

Even if there was just the option of doing it alone in a private instance I think that would be better. The amount of times I died because there was a gigantic Char in the way was just absurd.

When looking at a map, it shows all Asura Gates as “Asura Gate” and nothing more. I’d like to see them listed as “Asura Gate to Lion’s Arch” or something similar. Please?

Things from GW1 I'd like to see in GW2

I am loving the game but there are a few things I’m missing terribly that were in the first game but, for various reasons, don’t appear to have been implemented in this one.

- Red “enemy” dots on the minimap
Gosh I miss this. I loved watching all those red dots wandering around on the map in GW1. I would love to see the concentration of enemies ahead of me shown on the map.

- “Follow” command
I can understand why this isn’t currently in the game (hello botters), but I would love to have a version of follow in GW2. It Makes it a bit hard when I’m in a party of guildies and I suddenly have to go away from my computer. They then have to wait for me to come back. Instead, I’d like to be able to follow on the party leader so they can continue on to the next point while I’m temporarily unavailable. To deter botters from setting up party conga lines, or just grabbing onto the first person to walk past, make it a time limited thing (say 2 mins max and dependent on inactivity) and only useable in party.

- Map completion markers
This has already been brought up in other threads, but I’d like a more reliable way to tell me if 100%’ed a zone rather than having to travel there and open map to check the info on the side. Gold Hoplite helmets FTW!

There are heaps more, but they are definitely in other threads.

All damage-based conditions (confusion, bleeding, burning, poison) become Corrosion when applied to objects, dealing damage over time. Stacks in effect.

There are so many broken skillpoints, it is hard to remember which zones are 99% and which are already 100% without having to pay crazy stupid amounts of silver to waypoint in and out. to each one and write them all down in a notepad file.

Edit to clarify: The icon would go next to the zone name. For example, when you 100% Diessa Plateau, a little green check mark goes next to the zone name.

Cmon Arenanet. You had this feature in Guildwars 1 with Vanquish and Conquerer, etc, you cant add an icon when a zone is 100% complete?

100 Blades - half damage when moving

Posted by: stefanplc.5234

Hi there,

At this point, the warrior’s GS is one of those weapons that has one and very specific build that works, which revolves around setting up 100 Blades. You basically need Bolas or Bull’s Charge to be able to use it in PvP and it makes the spec boring, you always do the same thing, like a 1 trick pony.

Why not change the skill so it’s also usable while moving, but the hits done while moving do half the damage or something like that. This would open the greatsword to many other new and exciting builds.

Thanks for reading!

(I know this has been mentioned a lot, but I can’t help but re-iterate.)

To be forced to stick with the terrible camera while doing jumping puzzles – that’s beyond joke.

More often than not, the camera will simply get stuck and I can only guess which way I’m really facing. OK, my biggest Charr char will get semi-transparent, but that doesn’t help much when the camera keeps facing some random direction in which I’m not interested. I need to move the char before the camera gets free and that means I’m risking falling to my demise.

Also the camera smoothing – give us a switch for that please. I need precise movements and precise camera control.

I’m not a fan of jumping puzzles, but when I do have to do them, I’d rather have proper controls.
