The people that made GW1 are not the same people that made GW2.

That much is clear.

GW1 one year mark was superior. I was excited for faction, and it was excellent and different. New continent to explore, new classes and a new story campaign.

The ANet that made GW is not the ANet that currently makes GW2.
Hell, you can even spot the difference of design philosophies between when they marketed GW2 and now. Such a 180 they did.

[Necromancer] Well of Blood /Cut Cooldown

in Suggestions

Adamantel.6427

Reduce the cooldown of Well of Blood to at least 25 seconds, 40 seconds is way too much for any effectiveness and due to that, Necromancer class is very seriously lacking any good healing. Troll Unguent on Ranger with almost the same mechanic has 25 seconds cooldown making it very useful. Do the same with Well of Blood, the class needs one good healing skill very much.

Thank you.

The Reason to play

This post is short and sweet. Living story is attempting to compel people who feel the NEED to play by creating all these achievement and weapon skin filled festivals, instead of creating content that makes players WANT to play.

As soon as people say “wait why am I playing this again?” the entire thing will collapse for them and they will likely not be interested in playing as much, if at all.

If i had to sum it up in one word it would be variety. Both in skills and in armors

What i really want to make a come back however is Profession based armors though . Weight based is all well and good but it would still be nice to have some really distinctive armors for each class where you could say “thats an Engineer” or " thats a Mesmer" just by looking at them.

GW2 should have stuck with their original manifesto and never introduce ascended gear. Without ascended gear, there would be no need for laurels (in daily). Without laurels, dailys would have been totally optional.

Their original design was good. They’re just dealing with the fallout of their ascended gear hack.

LS system is "burning" even great players.

So much this.

I was completely relieved when I saw the Queen’s Speech was going to be a low key arc with virtually nothing to do. I thought I could finally take a few days break from Living Story content to play parts of the game I enjoy.
Haha nope. Clockwork Chaos rolls around, and now I have to idle in LA nearly every hour hoping RNG blesses a map I need so I can run around in a zerg for 45 minutes to get 1/13th of a single achievement. Not to mention the other achievements coexisting with that one as well, and a dungeon.

Some days I think the core game was all just a dream, where you could play the game no strings attached and not miss out on a temporary story/lore or achievements.

I’d almost prefer the game breaking bugs during headstart than a few more Living Stories. I can’t keep up, I can’t play what I want without being left behind, and I start to wonder why do I care. I can’t even begin to imagine how newer players feel, they don’t have any time to explore or go for map completion unless they blow off the latest story arc.

This is like buying a book to read when you want to, only to learn that every day someone bursts into your room and rips out the first 5 pages. Now instead of reading it when you’re bored or interested, you have to read it every day or you lose.

Thanks for posting the link.

The interview confirms the perspective my guild has regarding ANet:

ANET appears to be more focused on their internal processes and less on their customers’ experience.

We’d like to see ANET explain who they believe the game delights (e.g. who are your customers and what do they enjoy?)

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014

They went for quantity instead of quality. Nothing has changed in the world, all updates are removed after 2 weeks. If you’re a ‘normal’ gamer, you can complete these LS updates in the first day and twiddle your thumbs for 13 days waiting for the next update because guess what, thew content is so lacking its mind-numbing. So they had to put some constraints, so the last couple LS takes 2-3 days.

They’re boasting LS so much but they never accept the fact that they aren’t that great. Yeah it’s exciting to get an update every 2 weeks, but when you get them you just kind go:

Wow. I disagree with everything he said. I dont know if he truely believes what hes saying or is just misinformed.

1.“…look at clockwork chaos as an example, players are banding together.” — If you consider mindless zerging “banding together”.

2."We really want to make their actions have a persistent mark on the world, let players leave their mark on the world and let them direct where the world goes through the living story. " — What permanent mark have MY actions made on the world of Tyria through Living Story? I’ve completed all of the achievements I’ve been given, and things happen in a scripted sequence of events. How have my actions or the combined actions of the players shaped the world aside from the election? I hope he is referring to the future.

3.“…Flame and Frost updates that we were treading gently in how much content we released and how world impacting it was.”. — What impact? I can log in right now and see no remnants of Flame and Frost other than the two NPCs Braham and Roxx.

He keeps talking about rapidly pumping out content, but nothing about the quality of content. No where has he mentioned any disjointedness of the story arcs, or vague connections. Or that these LS updates promote zergplay, rather than skill play.

So as we all know by now, 1 character at 1 year of age gets an account-bound mini Queen Jenna, a lvl 20 scroll, and a birthday booster.

I have 14 characters, 8 class toons for myself, 4 storage characters and a character for each of my daughters. All 8 of my class characters are at level 80, have been since January. My daughters characters are level 22 and 12 and my storage toons don’t matter for level.

So for 14 Jennas, 14 level 20 scrolls, and 14 birthday boosters I get….1 scroll worth anything and the birthday boosters which last 24 hours each and are spread for their actual buff…you can’t wvw and pvp at the same time and if you use it and you just get rolled in wvw for a week it’s wasted.

I, like so many others, have been dedicated to your game, supported it with extra purchases, spread word-of-mouth, and I even bought the game for another friend so he could play. So my question is why do you hate the people who play your game, support it, and do their best to enjoy it? As everyone tries to point out with “This isn’t Guild Wars 1”, that’s obvious, because in GW1 we felt respected as players. In Guild Wars 2 I feel more like we just get what we get and that’s that. Nobody likes this, not one person thinks this was a good display of affection toward your fan base.

All 8 classes at 80, world completion, and storyline done. BOOYAH!

RNG broken. Love the game, think I'm done.

Seriously… Is there some sort of account bug or am I just incredibly unlucky? I hear how people get 10 exotics if not more a week. Some players who’ve had their accounts for less than a month get a precursor sell it and make quick bank.

I go months without seeing a single exotic besides what I use!

I’ve only ONCE got an event claim ticket for a skin, and it was compete accident when I didn’t even like them.

My buddy quits and goes to WoW then comes back and gets two precursors two days in a row. I haven’t even gotten a fractal weapon!!!

Is there something wrong with my account, luck is clearly a factor but for this long never getting anything good wtf?

I’m half PvE Half PvP so I only got to R40 showing a clear significant time I spend in PvE and I’m lucky to get a 75ish exotic that sells for under a gold. Something has to be wrong.

I enjoy playing Guild Wars 2 still but I unfortunately have a job that requires sometimes 50-60 hours a week plus having a wife and a puppy limits the time I have to be playing on the computer.

Living world introduces a large amount of content without requiring an expansion which is great. The only problem I have with it is I have very little time to complete the living world content. After the time gate passes there is no way for me to experience this content.

I would love it if instead of releasing new temporary content that once a month or every other month permanent content came out. It is nerve racking to not be able to enjoy the game the way I want to because when I do get time to play the Living World takes priority because it won’t be there for long.

Many may say well just don’t play the Living World content but with the benefits of playing being so significant (Mining node in home instance) I have to try and get it done before being able to do anything else.

Please add permanent content that also has benefits such as the mining node in the home instance periodically as well.

Thanks

It will be a year after release in three days.

So far, we got…..

  • 3 recurring ‘festivals’ and some recurring content(Halloween, Wintersday, Dragon Bash, Queen’s Gauntlet, Super Adventure Fun Box, Bazaar of the Four Winds)
  • A Bunch of Mini Dungeons that hasn’t been updated in almost a year (Fractals)
  • Literally a new set of weapon skins every month that relies far too much on Internet Gambling in order to get.
  • A Couple of Armor sets to go with it.
  • Half a year’s worth of Content that no one will ever get to play again
  • Some minor updates to WvW, PvP and the achievement system.
  • A Wallet.
  • 1 New Zone that is permanent, and 1 New Zone that was here for only a month.

There is two perspectives that I want to go on when I explain this…

The First is from a Buy to Play Perspective. No one has had to pay for this content, and for a year, that’s alot of stuff. While some games have given us way more content with their ‘Free’ Updates (EVE, LOTRO, Etc.), those require those dirty subscription fees. We have gotten alot of variety for amazingly little cash.

Okay, now that that’s over, lets go From my perspective,….While I don’t mind the free updates through the living story, and some I have enjoyed, I think Anet’s current business model is one of the more pathetic attempts at getting Player’s money, as far as MMO’s are concerned, and the amount of ‘Permanent’ content they have put out is also kind of pathetic. Here are my reasons why:

Those awesome Weapon and Armor skins that you can get for free,….Well, you can’t actually get them for free. Last I checked, its now over 4 gold per 100 gems for the gem store. Unless you are one of the Trading Post Barons with your 10,000 gold in storage, or you are one of the most prolific grinders in existence, you will have to pay real money at one point or another to get something from the gemstore, that or you will sacrifice yourself to a life in digital poverty.

Yeah, you can get 4 gold an hour doing Anet’s many grind heavy living story stuff, and you could have gotten up to 1,000 gold from the Queen’s gauntlet before it got nerfed, or, you’re just rich and bought all your gold, but that is less than 5% of the player population, even with the most conservative estimates. My Fortune right now is about 98 Gold. If I sell everything I own, I might hit about 200 Gold. At this point in the game, even that isn’t enough to cut it with some more expensive items. While I agree that players should work for their weapons, the way the current system is…, many players are running up an escalator that is moving in the wrong direction, and they can’t get off because other players and Anet are pushing them up.

Yeah, those cool weapon skins are 100% optional, but by making them optional, instead of giving players their choice of one as a reward for completing the Living Story, or giving them one for free from a chest then locking them out of it with the regular RNG, you are denying 95% of the players that content. Because of that I do not consider this permanent content because a vast majority of players will never have access to it. Why should you even bother to waste your time, if your cool weapon skins only reach 5% of the player base? In my opinion, that is time wasted.

That yearly Content you keep doing is really cool and all but I still consider it temporary content. You only see it for two weeks to a month once a year. Which, while you can always do it again next year if you miss it, its still not permanent content that you can come back to at any time.

If you are keeping score, Southsun Cove, Fractals, and a few improvements to the three sides of the game (WvW, PvP, PvE), are the only things with any real sense of permenancy, and some jumping puzzles too, can;t forget them.

Boycott Liadri

in Living World

Posted by: Ravij.9856

Ravij.9856

The problem I have with Liadri is that I’m color-blind, have severe anxiety and I’m a bit of a claustrophobic (And yes it’s possible to have a panic attack due to claustrophobia in a game.) Laugh at it all you want and call it a joke; but it’s real.

All the other bosses in Gauntlets, save for the Four pirates and Dead-Eye, were a breeze for me but I still had that slight fear of not being able to zoom my camera out all the way like I usually do. However Liadri is the bane of my disorders.

The fact that she’s broken up into two phases, in a tight little bubble, where I can’t even see the AoE circles just sets me off into a panic attack.

Then lets bring on the stress factor of having wasted over 50 gold to level my mesmer, gear it to the tooth thinking “Dulfy’s guide makes it look like a breeze. I’ll do this on a mesmer.” When technically it is NOT a breeze.

Things you could do to FIX this fight are listed below.

Phase 1 + 2:
Only a Maximum of two Visions of Mortality spawn at a time.
Lift the bubble some so we can zoom out to the max.
Get rid of the Hourglass AoE during Phase 2, instead return it back to like Phase 1.
Make the AoE circles more defined. That grate floor is killing most of us Colorblind people.

A reason I joined GW2, leaving World of Warcraft behind was because of it’s stress free environment where I wasn’t always pressured into getting a rare item, pet, or mount, and it’s challenging, yet easily obtainable achievement system.
Liadri is not challenging.. she’s stressful, depressing, and annoying.

Right now.. I’m planning to leave GW2 for some time to go play Final Fantasy XIV; because from what I’ve played so far of their beta and soon to play in their Early access; It’s more stress-free that GW2 is turning into. :\

If I recall the devs said that this update would answer our questions and wrap up this years story arc. Well I’ve enjoying playing through the invasion and fun house. I still want to know. Who the hell is scarlet? Where is she from? Why is she doing this? Who are the Aetherblades? Why did she form the Molten Alliance? Why does she have a last name? Whats her endgame? I thought these things would have been part of this update. And seeding we get SAB in the next update….. Why leave us will all this lame lore…….. Are we ever going to know?
