Why make a separate WvW monthly? Just add WvW achievements to the PvP stuff since WvW is PvP anyway .
No . A mutiny should never be something that can be put to a vote .
good point on the bows
As for the stance thing i was thinking more like the following
Sword / dagger
Fencers stance (defensive skill set )- has a chance to grant stability every X amount of seconds for X seconds .
Open Stance ( Offensive skill set )- Every X amount of seconds your next attack has a chance to Bleed foe for X seconds
and each weapon set would have a different offensive and defensive stance with an advantage or chance to grant one
I could imagine a few weapon sets here
Sword/ Dagger (like a fencer )
Sword / Sword
Greatsword
Longbow
Of course it would be silly to use the same stances one uses for a Longbow than you would for duel sword so I propose that the classes stances be based on the weapon set equipped . Each weapon combo would have 2 stances
Waypoint costs aren’t bad at all at level 80 you can go from any dragon spawn point to another for roughly 3.5 silver . Repair costs on the other hand can be rough .
I agree with this . Commander serves no purpose outside of WvW nor should it be shown outside of it . The only reason i can think its for gold is cause ANET wants to use it as a gold dump like T3 cultural armor .
I like the Trading Post system a lot more than GW1 system . I’ll take the 10% fee over getting scammed and seeing trade spam everywhere any day of the week .
AC EXP stands for Ascalonian Catacombs Explorable mode . Its the earliest doable dungeon ( level 30 ) . Each dungeon has a story mode and an explorable .
If you were to look at the sheer monetary value FoW was more expensive than T3 so I’m perfectly fine with its cost . Lets be honest here the only reasons T3 exists is so people can have that “look at me I’m rich” armor and at the same time ANET can get some of that excessive gold out of the economy that’s it.
Charr. Who doesn’t want to be giant atheist cat?
If anything they’re agnostic . The Charr acknowledge that gods exist but dont believe in them themselves.
As far as Lore goes you could have a lot of fun with Sylvari as they are new on the scene and their history is yet to be written for the most part . If you wanted somthing more developed go human ( ive grown to hate the Charr over the years ) or possibly Norn
I’ll admit hunting down and Capping a boss was fun . What i found even more satisfying though was helping a friend do it
While it may not be personal story related how you rate in Ferocity , Dignity and Charm does affect how NPCs treat you so you do have some control over such things
i am forced to play only one type of content because of server demographics.
False. Server Demographics have nothing to do with how one plays . The fact you feel that way says a lot more about you than it does about the game itself . Segregation is never a good idea .
it sounds like you weren’t having any fun with that group anyway so why should you care? The system is fine
As a casual i disagree with this because it cheapens the efforts of those working to get the T6 mats through other means. Even if you made the random mats from daylies based on level everyone would just do it on their 80s . Being a casual player i dont expect to get gear, mats etc as fast as a hardcore player and im fine with that . Asking for stuff to pretty much be handed to you just doesn’t fly with me .
Worst blunders in MMO history
1 ) CORPSE RUNS!!!!
2 ) failure at upgrading braking your equipment .
3 ) Failure at crafting .
4 ) the PK system
5 ) Gear grinding
6 ) inspection
Bag of gold bag of silver its semantics really . They could call it a bag of Svanir poo for all i care as long as it has money in it .
They are following the same model from GW1.
They make seasonal events and push out some content, but majority of content is saved for expansions.
In no way do I mean this to be taken rudely but in no ways were the Lost Shores a holiday event. It was in my eyes ANet’s first attempt at adding new content in GW2 that would remain after the event is over.
Kind of like the Sorrows Furnace release or when they changed the area where you did HA to where TOPK was in Guild Wars 1. Smaller content releases have been done before so there’s nothing new on that front .
a pistol at least can be sheathed until its used rifles not so much . as far as the cluster bomb or whatever thats not giving away your position with a muzzle flash and a loud crack is it? I’d rather them bring in crossbows or increase the range of current skills.
I have seen quite a few threads open up lately calling into question why the original posters, as a legitimate purchaser of a game, are ostracized from specific achievements or content because they don’t want to participate in a portion that is required in order to achieve the desired reward they are referencing.
IE:
- I don’t want to do W3 to achieve a Legendary.
- I cannot complete the clocktower to obtain an achievement.
- I do not want to run FOTM over and over to achieve Ascended gear.Etc. You likely get the idea.
Now, this is not a troll post, in spite of what will inevitably follow as a response.
Have we stopped to consider why? I honestly am left dumbfounded reading threads like this, and cannot fathom the logic that was utilized in order to reach the conclusions driving their origins.
Do we not play video games for fun any more?
With all due respect I think you get posts like that because they don’t find doing WvW or grinding FOTM fun. So where as they may want the item to an extent the value of said item is outweighed by their lack of fun .Heres the thing though , They still want the items and their disappointment in not having a fun way to get them can be a factor in driving them away from the game .
Oh i know right cause no one would ever make a witty or sarcastic remark on a forum for fun .
Because its one of those things that makes your class unique …one of the only things since you’re wearing the same armor as that Mesmer.
Look at the bright side they raised the roster cap from 100 in GW1 to 500 in GW2 .
As far as an alliance chat goes to use the above example all it would do is serve to coordinate the mega guild to flood the WvW Queue so that once one guild member left another would immediately go in .
Thieves are about stealth and there is nothing stealthy about a black powder rifle particularly at night where the smoke lingers for what seems like an eternity. With that said i dont mind a 1200 range attack but Rifles certainly aren’t the way to go
A little bit of history. I played the original Guild Wars for over five years.
Then I bought the game at launch only to be incredibly disappointed. My first question was, “Where are the guild wars?”
You should be ashamed of yourself!!!! Go sit in the corner with a bar of soap in your mouth right NOW!!!!!!!! Any GW1 player worth their salt knows the lore and how Guild Wars got its name . Good day sir …… *walks off *
OCD? i dont see the problem with a series of PvP achievements . Wouldn’t that just serve to be more fulfilling to the PvPer?
So what I’m getting from the OP is " I dont want to be around you non-RP jerks " and that an official RP server would fix their problem which just seems elitist to me . Dont get me wrong I’ve got profiles for all my characters and RP them on occasion but the whole official RP server thing is ludicrous.
So what you want is to remove the core mechanic of the ranger? Thats about as likely to happen as a Sylvari giving birth to a cross between a Norn and an Asura
Clark let me ask you something, if you find an aspect unfun why do it at all? It just feels forced when they try to make PvErs try to do PvP or visa versa .
Agreed i see no reason to force a style of play one is not interested in
Yep we need presents for our characters . As far as what they should be I’ll leave that to the devs . It would be interesting though if unique recipes or items were given as presents . maybe even getting a few things from a present
Its an interesting idea but the problem is that we dont have missions any more we have " personal story quests " and you have to do them all in order . You cant just do Fort Trinity one day and Claw Island the next .
its a mob of dead things… kind of makes sense for them to be unruly imo (though still a tad annoying)
Not quite, they may be unruly, but they are under the control of the Necromancer, they’re not just reanimated to mindlessly bash everything in sight. That would defeat the purpose of an army of the undead.
Not exactly. Minions have never been under the control of the MM to the extent of kill that guy, They just whack on the first thing they see as minions dont have intelligence .The only difference between the MM of today and the MM of yesteryear is that you no longer need a corpse .
they lasted from 1013-1070 AE and were fought between Ascalon,Kryta and Orr. When the Charr invasion happened the guilds returned to their homelands to defend them . Orr as it is shaped today is do to the event known as the Cataclysm which caused an explosion destroying all of Orr.
My Background
I go all the way back to Pen and Paper D20 RPGs including AD&D 2E ,Star Wars Wars, and Rifts
My online history has too many to count as does my off line computer game RPG and i still enjoy hex based strategy games every now and then .
As for my option of GW2
Well its hard for me to say this having played GW1 from the beginning but im not entirely impressed with GW2. I dont hate it but i dont exactly love it like i did GW1 either .I’ll go point by point
Story
By far one of biggest disappointments . It could have been so much better on so many levels .I’ts just way too disjointed ,you go from being in a circus to saving Tyria? Really? The transitions could have been a lot smoother here and mr monotone could have been more convincing too.
Music
I bought the soundtrack …do i even need to say more?
Character Creation
Pretty good here . You get some decent options without overkill . There are a few more options I’d like but not many .
Community
This has always been big for me and i find myself wanting in this department a little .Still better than most MMOs but not as great as it was in GW1 . This may be in part because there aren’t any set in stone missions where one can go to help a random out like THK or Hell’s Precipice .
Gear
Love the transmutation aspect but hate finding stuff with the right stats and not having the level or stuff to craft it .
Crafting
Ok i get that some people enjoy crafting but it can be a bit of a grind when you have several crafting professions on the same tier and cant progress any f them very far
Unintended Consequences ?
We’ll start with the level cap increase . It went from 20 to 80 so now there are a lot of people who end up being that guy/gal that gets left out because they have excessive work hours or other RL things that prevent them from leveling as quick . This same person dident have the issue in GW 1 because of the low level cap and relatively small world but is now more oft than not stuck doing stuff on their own .
anyway thats the rundown as it stands now . If i think of anything else ill be back
Bots are never and never will be good . Anyone who says otherwise has very flawed ethics
The idea of a " cultural appreciation week" is a good one .the idea of cultural armor for all races is not . Lets keep Race unique things just that.
To be more specific the guild wars was an event that lasted from 1013-1070 AE when the Charr invaded . Unfortunately what is left of Orr as we see it today is do to an event known as the Cataclysm which stopped the Charr invasion in Orr but also destroyed all of Orr in the explosion
I don’t know if it’s already been said or not, but maybe have different time zones divided across Tyria, so it’s half and half
You haven’t seen how little of the planet we have access to.
and that’s just Tyria never mind Cantha or Elona. I would however suggest that different regions ( Ascalon, Kryta etc ) be more uniform
Engineers are tech geeks they wouldn’t go low tech like a bow . Crossbow maybe but that’s the best you’d get .
thats the risk you take using the mail insted of the TP. Personally im glad its TP only . with all the spam and scam there was in GW1 im glad to be rid of it
In Guild Wars 1 infusion was something more akin to a title that could be applied to any armour that a player had chosen to equip. Thus, the player had the freedom to control all aspects of the style of armour they wanted for their characters, without worry about function. Players who chose to mix and match parts of various sets of armour to set themselves apart from others could simply infuse that armour to go kill the Mursaat that used the Agony condition that infusion mitigated. They were not forced to stow the armour they liked and equip an entirely new set of armour (that they may not be as enthusiastic about) to fight off the effects of a condition that most enemies in the game didn’t apply.
Except for the fact that if you had armor runed a specific way for specific builds you still had to have all your armor infused as Spectral Agony would kill you in a heart beat if if you weren’t infused . Additionally your unenthusiastic armor comment wouldn’t of held up in the early days of GW1 as your stats were determined by the armor set you wore forcing you into some pretty ugly looks .
GW1 doesent have forums and for all we know they may have bought GW1 for HoM stuff.
What’s so special about level 20? I hope you realize that there are 60 more after that.
When i saw the question my first thought was GW1 since its max level is 20. If indeed they are talking GW 1 if you have factions go to KC immediately and you’ll level super fast
because it is easier and faster to type Toon, then Avatar or Character. It is a decendent from WoW players yes as far as I know.
Why do people us things like:
Lol or Rofl? Because they are easier then typing laughing out loud, and Rolling on the floor laughing.
you can type class just as fast though and class makes a lot more sense too.
Well first off darned right Kormir is a thief she stole credit at every turn…
OK now that thats off my chest its hard to say not knowing which shades of gold and white your using as some look better than others on different armors . Have you tried mixing and matching at the PvP locker?
Yes! Holiday material storage wouldn’t hurt either for all that excess Halloween stuff and all the wintersday stuff to come
What you call a raid i call a Meta Event
it is being consistent . a bandit a pirate and a risen are all part of a collective group therefore they counted as part of said collective . A Hylek ,Drake or or Krait are not .
