I honestly think the main reason that contributed to the event not being fun was due to the difficulty of obtaining blooms. I think a consolation prize would ease the pain.
Nah, the event was bad, you can not retroactively change that and even if you could, free blooms is not the solution. Arena Net admit that the event was not very well planned, which is the only apology you are going to get, you might as well forget the 60 blooms you need.
I think we should be grateful for ANet’s efforts to keep this game fun.
Problem is that nothing about the event was fun.
Seems like someone is 60 blooms short on the item they want.
This disappointing event as Malediktus said, should be buried and forgotten.
They might put that Pirate Quaggan mini up on sale and the pirate outfit, just to cash in. Arena Net has never really bothered with celebrating that day in the past.
GW1 had/has Pirate Week since 2008. But yeah, GW2 doesn’t do anything with it.
Yea, GW1 is kinda irrelevant here in the GW2 forum.
Content.
2015 has been very dry up to this point.
They might put that Pirate Quaggan mini up on sale and the pirate outfit, just to cash in. Arena Net has never really bothered with celebrating that day in the past.
1 – Ingame optional vote/poll system, when we complete content we can vote on what we thought of it. Arena Net love metrics and it seems odd that this system is not currently in place. It could also be easily tied into content voting so we can pick from an Arena Net approved list of content that they could start development on.
2 – Housing system, this is an MMO and compared to most other popular MMOs is lacks a proper housing system. Yes we have personal areas but they are largely unused and not upgradable, guild Halls do not cut it either as that is in no way personal. Not asking for depth like LOTRO but give us PVE players something to work towards.
3 – Hobbies, years ago before release Arena Net asked us for ideas for pastimes, they liked our suggestions like fishing yet nothing came of it. I want something to do that is not crafting or fighting. Fishing, treasure hunting, antique collecting, lock picking, begging, musicianship, I am not bothered what it is so long as we have a nice selection and that it introduces a new gameplay element. Tie them into a housing system and other current systems and it gives the PVE side of this MMO some actual depth.

How about explaining it to them before kicking them?
Seems to me that the problem is you not them.
Just trash really, not worth the time.
1: People avoid fights if they have no reason to do it, zero mob drops remove the motivation to fight, not a great move. This is especially vexing when the event includes champion mobs.
2: Event reward, each event in the game gives a little karma, silver and some give a jiggly bag, this is a superb system and it is mind boggling that these special events give nothing at all.
3: Gold requirement for rewards, we just saved Tyria so why are we having to buy our own rewards with gold, that just seems crazy. Couple that with the fact that some rewards cost up to 10 gold, any new players in the game are going to completely loose out because they will unlikely have obtained that much yet.
4: More trash filling up my inventory, why were there trophies not added to the newly expanded system where geodes, bandit crests and other such items go? Major oversight in my books.
5: Tag and run, the missions are designed to reward those that get the most event completion. Counter intuitive to the community spirit and helping one another that GW has been promoting for years. A dropped chest on event completion giving the trophy’s and a decent reward on top would dissuade the tag and run mentality. As a by-product those that loose connection would still retain partial reward as they would not have to wait for the complete map completion for it as it would be slowly paying out after each minor event instead.
6: Mobs, they die fast in the zergs and it can be hard for some players to get credit for the event if they are not fast enough or do enough damage. The current system of reward needs to be addressed as I am not sure just upping the health of the enemies would be useful or solve the situation for everyone.
7: Waiting, so much standing around doing nothing. You can not just jump in game and have some fun whenever you want, the events dictate when you can get involved and when you can not. This is not really casual friendly, enjoyment should not be put on a timer.
8: Catapults, I personally have yet to be able to use one, I know it is not required but you can not help resent someone stealing it from you after you build one. If an event has an interesting mechanic, then everyone should have a chance to use it not just 5 players who were quick enough each event. The shielding and bombs were nice and I am glad it is not only waves of enemies on a timer, which to be honest was what I was expecting.
9: Constant waypointing, you waypoint to the event complete it and waypoint to the next, because if you run then the event will be over before you get to it. Some times you waypoint and it is over anyway and you have to waypoint to the next keeping your fingers crossed. Problem here is how spread out these events are, how shot they are and the fact that we have no means to know how close to completion an event is before we go to it. An easy solution would be highlighting the event on our map showing how close to completion it is, probably would be hard to code, but it would be well worth it.
I am with everyone else and was fairly disappointed in this event, I was not expecting much but it was so badly thought through especially the rewards system. I have a lot of respect for you Arena Net because usually your content is good, but especially now because you came out and admitted that this event has flaws rather than ignoring us. I really hope you take all our opinions to heart and change things for next time because their really is no excuse for any of this as it is all fairly obvious if you simply play the game you make, look at it from a players perspective not a developer!
(edited by Aedelric.1287)
They will not shut it down, though they perhaps should because as it stands the `event´ is more of an embarrassment than anything.
I feel bad for the new players, Arena Net usually do better than this, really!
(edited by Aedelric.1287)
Hey Arena Net! Do you actually play your own content? Because on what planet is this kind of reward system fair or enjoyable?
No loot from mobs, especially disappointing as we are fighting champions. Few blooms from a long series of events, and no karma or silver for completing those events. And to top it off we have to buy our own rewards with gold.
Thanks for trying Anet but I do not think I will bother, very disappointing indeed.
Provide accurate numbers then.
You could provide accurate numbers and prove everyone that disagrees with you wrong. Seems you care so deeply about the accuracy of peoples statements.
Me? I have better things to do with my time, later!
“We”?
`We´ would not be wrong as the majority of people want it.

No doubt this will be merged.
Some group of people want it. It is impossible to accurately gauge the percentage of the population of the game that do. But a sizable number do and it is reasonable to expect that a large population of new players would also enjoy it if it returned.
Some people want it? That is a gross understatement.
This is kinda is easy to gauge, many SAB protests in game, a massive topic on the forums, we even have a SAB music video begging for SAB to return! Couple this with very few people posting against the return of SAB and I think you have your answer.
SAB will return, soon as we get this HoT nonsense out of the way.
@Aedelric
You kind of pulled majority out your kitten .
No kittens were harmed, honest!

Why excited for Gliding but not UnderWater?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Aedelric.1287
Issue here is we have only a handful of underwater zones and they are fairly bland and boring. If we had underwater areas that have fantastic events, world bosses, beautiful environment work and rewards making it worth going to, then underwater would be more popular.
Because we have nothing in game to make it popular Arena Net as a consequence ignores underwater content and skills because metrics show it is unpopular.
Perhaps we may have to wait a few years till we are fighting the underwater dragon to get decent water content. But I have a feeling most of that content will be on land because `metrics show underwater is not popular´.
My only issue is that vets and elites do not give any better reward than trash mobs, if they drops scaled appropriately then I would be fine with them.
Shame. `ding´
Some things you simply do not do as a joke, next time you have a stupid idea just put yourself in the other person’s shoes first.

It would be great if the audio team took the top twenty most annoying sounds in game and reworked them to make them easier to listen to.
Not my kind of music, but that video was impressive.
I completely agree with it, we want the SAB back!
I love the audio team, they make great sound effects and are quite a quirky bunch (Judging by the PoI we had)
I would say the new horn sound is the worst, it was a mistake to change it.
That is something you can report them for.
And there we have it then. You complain about lack of (in your eyes) good selections, and yet you didn’t even try to do anything about it yourself by submitting something that would be good in your eyes.
What you asked was a trick question though.
If he said he submitted nothing then you would just blame him for not making an effort. If he submitted something you would have complained that he was just upset that he did not win.
I must admit the winners are a bit too cute, even the sword in the dragon head. I hope these are not the only emblems Arena Net are adding but are making some themselves to go with HoT.
He gave ESO a 5/10. I wouldn’t call that fairly excited.
The difference between his review after release and his opinions coming up to release. If I remember right he moved his entire Angry Army over to ESO thinking it would be great, it was not. My point still stands, he is fairly trustworthy but some times gets a bit too excited about a game.
I liked his review, but I was a fan of Arena Net and Guild Wars long before it. I have been playing since the start of Guild Wars 1.
Joe gets very excited about games, but I find he has little attention span and quickly runs off to hype the next thing that interests him. I have vague memories of him getting fairly excited about Elder Scrolls Online and we all know how bad that game turned out.
I never seen that happen, though I hardly ever see anyone use a boom box ingame.
Unfortunately if you decline to give them your email it will not let you sign in (even though it is not marked as required info on their FB login interface).
Not sure why anyone could have an issue, it is not exactly complicated you know!
Its not a random giveaway, the winner is chosen by whomever they designated to do so… These types of contests are typically a load of kitten, its whoever says the thing that tickles the designator’s fancy. Waste of time.
So say what they want to hear, two minutes of your life is hardly much of a waste of your time.
And then when you get gold you get banned for gold buying.
Only if you pay Ten Ton Hammer for it, but then it would not be a giveaway then would it?
The chances of winning are slim, no second or third place. Someone is going to have a nice HoT start.
… To comment it wants me to sign up and the Privacy Policy says they’ll give my email address to advertisers.
Is 4K gems of gold worth getting spammed for years?
Sign in with Disqus, Facebook, Twitter, Google. You are not going to get spammed by anything. Ten Ton hammer is a popular MMO website, you are safe.
Or better yet don’t, it will raise my own personal chances to win!
I am sure a number of forum users will be interested in a chance to win 4000 gems worth of gold. Just post in the comments what you are doing to prepare for HoT.
Congrats to whoever wins.

I don’t ever buy mini’s, every time sab has been opened i have purchased all the paraphernalia to specifically show my support in the way i thought anet would care about the most.
You are not alone, the only minis I have ever bought are the SAB minis, I even purchased an extra world 2 set to obtain the super assassin.
I feel like sab should be worth it money wise to make, there are lots of gem store items they can sell with it/make for it.
If they did they could sell these items again;
Super Explosive Finisher
Miniature Super Trio
Miniature Super Trio – World 2
Plush Moto Backpack Cover
Super Adventure Box o’ Fun
Infinite Continue Coin
World 1 Super Boom Box
World 2 Super Boom Box
In addition they could also potentially release;
A new finisher
Miniature Super Trio – World 3
Plush Miya Backpack Cover
Permanent Adventure Box o’ Fun
World 3 Super Boom Box
SAB mail carrier
All combined they would definitely get plenty of gem purchases from bringing back SAB.
(edited by Aedelric.1287)
Anet will give GW2 away to new players for free.
But will they open SAB for paying players? NOPE!
That is quite a depressing way of putting it, I really do miss SAB.
Any chance the dev’s will nerf the difficulty so it’s more difficult throughout the whole game?
I think you mean buff, nerf would imply that you want it easier.
As you have only four skills it seems obvious you have not yet progressed to the parts of the game where you are challenged, leave the starter zones, do dungeons, boss fights, fractals and then we can talk about the games difficulty.
Also HoT the expansion is to introduce more challenges, raids and is touted to be the hardest end game content introduced to date.
Ha funny!
Wait, that was not a joke? Two seems mighty stingy.
Yeah, because we all know how much people loved them adding back SAB stuff in the game without adding SAB.
Well it is a reminder of what people are missing out on, so I can completely understand. Personally I have no problem with them selling old SAB items, I want the world 2 boom box.
Bringing back SAB as a bonus would not hurt either.
What a convoluted way to get a dig in at Arena Net Plok.
Three years, if they could they would have done so already, get the hint guys.
Omg Aedelric “inevitably divorce”. Dont you believe in eternal companionship & loyality?
I have been with my partner for ten years, I do believe in eternal companionship and loyalty. I just do not believe in the institution of marriage, it is an archaic tradition that should be done away with.
I do not need a ring and paper to prove my love, my fidelity, honesty and actions every day we have been together are all the proof I need.
Anyway, a few of my friends that are married do not display additional luck in real life equivalent to 5-10% magic find, so I still say no to the passive buff. I say give married people 5 random junk trophy’s, teapot, toaster, etc, to mirror real life.
Not going to happen.
It will be the traditional copy paste with the usual excuse from Arena Net that they are too busy to work on more content.
Aniversary Sales and no SAB related items as of yet, they are probably the only old things I would part with real money to obtain. (Missing my world two boom box)
Come of Arena Net HoT releases in October, I except you to begin creating the next SAB world immediately after!
Hi!
Normally im not one of these people that are very fond of these kinda things but it would be rly fun if anet actually added weddings as in you could talk to an npc and marry another person and share a special surname as a title (which you could decide together). The twist would be that you could get a passive buff of 5-10% magic find if youre married!
Im such a girl right now i know…
A more accurate passive effect is those two players share one bank, gold funds and other assets from that point onward.
When they inevitably divorce they get to fight over who owns what.
I can live without it, capes do not add anything of real value to the game.
If they eventually do then that is great, but I can see it as being nearly impossible to implement. With the current variety of races, the addition of an extreme variety of armours and the fact that your character has so much more mobility compared to your Guild Wars 1 character I see the work involved for such little pay off being nearly pointless, as no doubt Arena Net also do. Unsightly clipping would almost be a certainty, possibly so much so that such an eyesore would detract from this beautiful game far too much.
I say Arena Nets time and effort are best spent in other areas of the game where good results are far more likely to be accomplished. And lets not forget we already have a decent and more diverse backpack system.
Yea, I am on insider and can also confirm it works fine.
Just make sure you update your graphics card drivers when you move to Windows 10.
Well done for watching the POI livestream WinterWolf.
