OP you are lucky.
I main a necro, so right now, no matter if the dervish is op or not,
Damage? Not Necro.
Tanking? Not necro.
Single-Target? Not Necro.
Multi-Target? Not necro (but not so bad either)
More energy? Not Necro.
PVE kings? Not Necro.
PVP usability? Not Necro.
Knock knock, who’s there?- Necro – Sorry, no necros allowed in the party.
The only advantage to playing these sun-forgotten special snowflakes is looking cool.
it’s weird that marjory delaqua is supposed to have canthan descent, when her surname is from italian origin. the other canthan guy i know, (shiro tagachi) does have a japanese name….
After the patch Necro + Ele are top tier in pvp/wvw.
We can tank and we can hit like a truck.
Why do people complain so much and being greedy.
Only thing I want is probably buff on axe and some of utility skill buffs.
Reveal buff? Lol why do we even need this to kill a thief? My power necro dominates 1v1 against thief most of the time even without reveal buff. Only problem is mesmer but it will be nerfed soon imo.
Why is necro top tier? Because you say so?
I think necros are in a weaker spot after the patch.
Conditions suffers because it cannot stack bleeds as fast as other proffesions. It really shines as a countercondi, but you are seriously ineffective if your adversary is power based and can clean conditions.
And power suffers because now there’s insane burst from mesmers and guardians. It was possible to survive that before the change to the zerker amulet, but now it can get ridiculous. Even worse: lich form has been seriously nerfed now, as going lich is like putting a shooting mark on your head, and you know you are going to be 2-shot by a mesmer or a guardian in no time.
Minion master seems a bit better now, and can really shine vs condihappy builds, same as signet necro shines against boonhappy or condihappy builds, but you rely too much on the enemy to be running this or that.
I think there are 4 possibilities
1st: The elder dragon of fire, Primordius he is the strongest one propably and the first who awakened so we will fight him as the last one.
2nd: The elder dragon of water, Primordius is still the strongest but maybe they will put him in the pre-last expansion so the final one will be a bit more calm and enjoying with the Deep Sea dragon
3rd: A 7th elder dragon will be revealed based on light powers he will be yellow/white with large angelic wings etc and he will be the leader of all the elder dragons
4th: A crossover will happen between World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV and all the players from these 3 biggest mmos will join together to face the ultimate villain, Sargeras (from WoW) who fused with Gaius Van Baelsar (from FFXIV) and then swallowed the powers of the dead elder dragons which transformed him into an unstoppable force.
There’s already an endboss in this game, and for now not only it can’t be beaten, but can’t be avoided either.
It eats 15% of everything you sell in the tp, which is usually 5 times as much the margin you can make flipping stuff.
It’s the cursed black lion trading company, of course, and i would really really want a last expansion where we get to butcher all those motherkitteners kittens for ripping us off through all these years.
You bring any of those phrases in GW2 and you get chewed out. “Go play wow”, “GW2 was never ment to have them GTFO”
So what do all those naysayers have to say now that the devs has said that was never their intention. Now maybe when some players talk about the way they want portions of future content with maybe more emphasis on fights with roles they wont just be swept under the rug on the guise of “that does not belong in GW”
well, they did hype the game as trinity free, so if it was never their intention, it probably wasn’t their intention as a grind free game wasn’t the intention, or not having us chasing for new gear with improved stats wasn’t their intention, and so on, and so on.
(
If they did say that a trinity free game wasn’t their intention (mind quoting the source?) then this game might as well be renamed: ‘false advertising wars’.
RNGesus finally blessed me with a precursor today which soon turned into a troll face in my inventory after finding out that I cant even keep or sell it cause I was on my revenant… like c’mon 2000hrs of playing and I get a precursor in the BETA…
You mean you salvaged all the exotica this game gave you for free for trying the revenant, even though you had a big sign on top saying you couldnt keep the loot, and you got a precursor?
Cry me a river. It’s fair punishment for ignoring the big warning. I guess you also didnt get the precursor at the first try…. You probably erased and created many revenants before you got the precursor…. So sad!
Gw2 improves in many ways what wow and many other mmos have done up till now.
Main improvements are:
- mob tagging: no need to be on the same party to get rewards. This encourages halping people along the way.
- explorable maps: wow wasnt so bad either, but the real staple of this game are the detailed maps where you can stray out of the path and discover cool things…. Tons of them. Sadly, this hasnt been the case with either dry top nor silverwastes, lets hope it’s not a trend.
- no gear treadmill. You equip your character and you can keep it competitive forever. I have 7 chars in gw2, whereas i could only get enough time to play just one in wow.
But ere are some things where this game seriously screws up, imo
- zero immersion. The stories are boring, sometimes ridiculous, and to make things worse they even broke continuity in the personal story. There’s no story behind the quests either. In wow. There were some very cool quests if you took the time to read the texts. Here, there’s nothing like that. Waypoints, whi,e really convenient, also completely destroy immersion. I mean, why is there a caravan. When you can teleport from a to b, especially if the road is infested with bandits?
- zero travel means empty maps: you will not stumble across people going from a to b, nothing unexpected happens if you dont stumble across people.
- repetitiveness: this game doesnt allow interaction with other players, save for cooperation. This means you play always the same game, the same way. Only people can bring randomness and variation to a game, and gw2 has zero sandbox elements that allow people to do that.
- dumb story: seriously, how can the charr and human coexist?
- flawed group content design: world bosses will never have complex mechanics,to make them accessible to all players, hence they will never be really challenging. That’s why other mmos offer raids: challenging group content that can be beaten by people willing to improve their play and endure a few losses.
Thats just a few of the negatives i can think of, there many more, as there are many more positive things that this game does as well as other mmos.
GW2 is great because it offers so many options. When I ask people what to do next, they say “whatever you want.” They want me to treat it like Skyrim. (If that’s a fair comparison). An mmo with the mentality of a sandbox game….I. Have. Found. HEAVEN.
Well, please don’t treat it like skyrim.
first, because you can’t. GW2 is not a sandbox and, sadly, whatever you do in game as 0 lasting impact.
second, because this is not a single player game. This is an mmo, and you should try and play with other people and you should try and learn how to use your character, because your performance affects other people’s gaming experience. It’s easy to not suck at this game, though, so you will see that i am not asking too much of you…. welcome and have fun!
The class with the lowest mobility and team support should be the strongest in combat class.
A class with high mobility and evasion should not be nearly as strong in actual combat as a necromancer.
Necro needs to be the strongest in combat class because this should be balanced out by a lack of ability to disengage. A thief, mesmer or engineer should always struggle when going toe to toe with a necro because they have the ability to disengage whilst a necro does now.
Thoughts on how necro could be made the strongest in-combat class, as it should be based on logical balance. I suggest some sort of siphoning buff would be a good start.
You are forgetting tankiness. Necros are tanky and as such, even if they lack mobility, will be always be below the squishies in combat.
not without sacrificing signet of the locust… well, anyway, i don’t plan to go and farm that spot too much, just enough to be able to afford the precursor…
Changed it. I guess my days throwing maize balm are over…
Not this again….cat ears does not fit GW2.Cat ears fits immersion dead games such as Perfect World games. No pls
yeah, cat ears break immersion like you wouldn’t believe, not like the wings backpacks, or the quaggan backpacks and hats, or the disco ball mace….
nice try.
Guild Wars 2 combines so many features that I like that it’ll be a nearly impossible act to follow, but I’m going to try anyway. The most important aspects are probably flexible character classes (I don’t consider multiple DPS specializations for one class to be flexibility), active combat (no spamming skills that root me in place, everything being auto targeted, etc), aesthetic customization.
If you have any suggestions please let me know. Telling me why you like a particular game would be much more helpful than just telling me a title but either works.
Edit: Oh, and no gear treadmill! That’s really important as well.
Edit too/two/tutu: Looking for high fantasy or sci-fi. Something (slightly) more grounded like The Secret World probably wouldn’t do it for me.
Dcu online. While it’s nothlike gw2 at all, it has a really nice combat system, toon customisation, and role specialization for your class. Combat includes blocking, comboing with your mouse buttons and launching powerful skills you charged with the combos. It has like, 10% of the content this game offers, but is really fun to try.
I’m not ok with the game getting more casualized, but ANet wont change their mind on this one.
i consider myself a casual player, but i don’t like content that you beat the first time, and every time after that.
players that always want to succeed in the first try are not casuals, they are just lazy and don’t play to be thrilled. They go to the movies to watch a watered down romantic comedy, and they play gw2 to hit the auto attack and always, ALWAYS, get their crappy rewards.
And yes, anet has made it their goal to appeal to that sort of player. The one that thinks dungeons are too hard, so they stopped caring about dungeons.
i think this got in the adn of anet developers too, to the point they don’t know how to develope challeging group content anymore. For example, look at the triple trouble. what’s the difficult part of that encounter? (getting enough people on team speak and coordinating the exact moment where you cut the heads) the fight certainly isn’t challenging.
ls season 2 was a nice change of pace, introducing some challenging mechanics (specially for the achievements) but, you know, that’s not group content….
blood magic, definitively, at least for pve.
Necros are already very tanky, and we lack damage. Sacrificing damage for a miserable life siphon and a bit more sustain is a big no for me.
Best in red team is a Necro.
Last in blue team is a Necro.
That’s so misleading.
If you stay in point to double cap, you get extra points (for essentially being a bad player)
If you stomp rivals, you get extra points (necros shouldn’t stomp, unless there’s no alternative or they got stability from a guardian pal)
So being first doesn’t mean you are the best, being last…. it probably does mean you are the worst.
thanks! there’s a bit of troll in my posts here, because i’m fed up with how some professions get all the love while necros get flashy useless things.
‘Fixing’ mark of evasion would mean a qol improvement for open world, dungeons, WvW and, in some cases, even spvp.
But it would still be too little.
And then, believe it or not, the only thing i have found a necro can do, that no other profession can do better, is the tot farm, and ‘fixing’ mark of evasion would ruin that, too. As I said, i haven’t farmed these dumb bags for quite some time (because i refuse to farm instead of just playing the game) but these days everything feels like farm… i don’t know, i may want to make 10g/hour for a few more days….
So balance around a stupid mindless farm? Yeah that makes perfect sense. /s
Also why cant you just use staff instead? Exact same skill.
You cannot use your weapon skills while throwing balms.
Necros wells plus mark of evasion means you can farm with no cd at all.
And i’d rather have balance around a stupid brainless farm (that’s more fun than, say, tequatl) than no balance at all. I mean, necros will still suck if they change this.
Now, if they nerfed the farm, then i wouldnt have a problem with this change.
The 2x HP on Teq could be ok if all attacks would have a chance of critting not just the ones that hit some obscure spot somewhere.
or, since the fight has changed, people could learn how to beat him now, and not last month? I’m sure a lot of people still show up in soldier’s….
Really? The fight changed? The patch notes said it is possible to critically hit Teq now. The patch notes never mentioned that there is a single spot somewhere in the boss model that can be crit. If a boss can be hit with crits then everything targeted that says “Tequatl the sunless” should be possible to crit.
haters gonna hate. Even if the developer ads a new element to a battle that’s been farmed ad nauseam… i guess farmers gonna farm….
A lot of the times when i do a dungeon and join a party i get kicked out just because im a necromancer. I mean come on, what’s there even to hate about necroes? Yeah they aren’t the strongest class but seriously. I understand if it’s arah, which is pretty much a mesmer/thief/guardian/warrior dungeon, but im doing CoF and im getting kicked out. For the love of god this is ridiculous.
weird. I never get kicked for being a necro.
That being said, I never join those lfg parties looking for a thief or elementalist only with my necro.
The design philosophy for the necro seems to be the same as for the shadow behemoth: look cool while doing nothing meaningful.
So forget about having anything that works well with this game’s mechanics now or never.
That being said, you don’t need that much for open world content so, if you enjoy looking cool while underperformingm, why not??
The 2x HP on Teq could be ok if all attacks would have a chance of critting not just the ones that hit some obscure spot somewhere.
or, since the fight has changed, people could learn how to beat him now, and not last month? I’m sure a lot of people still show up in soldier’s….
Hey everyone, so im a very tanky necro player who usually kills who I fight (unless im severely outnumbered) I last a long time and my dots usually eat through whoever Im fighting. I was running around in WvW and came across this ele that I figured would go the same way. Not sure what it was about him but I never saw him drop below 95% health. I have ZERO idea how but it was pretty funny and almost embarrassing to watch. Now, im not one to yell for nerfs or anything but I would however like to know what it was that I was fighting and how do I beat it.
same happened to me, but i was running a glass condi build. I tried to cap a point defended by an elementalist and no matter what, i could never build enough bleeds to outdamage his regeneration.
if i could build enough bleed stacks i would have covered them with signet of spite, but the elementalist kept cleansing before there was anything worth covering.
Then i looked at the elementalist traits:
burning fire: automatically cures 3 conditions.
stop drop and roll: cure chilling after dodging
cleansing wave: removes a condition when attuning to water
cleansing water: removes a condition when granting regeneration
water dagger 5: cures a condition
Basically, you have a condi immune foe. When facing one like that call for help (you are a tank, you should call for help anyway). He shouldn’t be able to kill you either unless the battle drags too long, which it shouldn’t as either of you should receive help.
Good on you for choosing what is fun. It’s the reason I only ever care to play my Necromancer, as well. The meta/balance will constantly ebb and flow, but if you choose something you like, you can just focus on enjoying the game and not rolling the new hotness.
why are you polarizing things like this? you make it sound like only the necro is fun, when it has the dumbest (does that word even exist?) rotation save for the ranger and warrior…
it’s not. I gave up on necro for dungeons (feeling immortal while doing mediocre damage doesn’t cut it for me, and it’s still like that after patch), and the only place where necros are ‘meta’ right now is throwing maize balms and farming elementals (haven’t done it in like 3 months, but i will get there sooner or later to finish my legendary)
Please make this an incombat thing only. Engi, warr, mesmer, guardian, ele etc all have dodge traits that are incombat only.
I’ve had enough of annoying pve creatures in WvW aggroing on me forcing a dodge only for me to get in combat anyway when I’m trying to get to a commander or raid lead…
Always the Necro…
no! you do this, you nerf necro’s ability to farm tot bags…. don’t do it!
Op, if you dont like your class’s best mechanic, you obviously dont like your class. I suggest turret engineer for you, it will suit your playstyle better.
Fractals gets played, and yes of course it has better rewards than the rest of the game. That’s fine. I like to play harder content but I feel like I should be rewarded appropriately and I think most of the players who play harder content feel the same way.
So in my vision of this super hard open world area, success would be highly rewarded. People would come for both the challenge and the rewards.
Fractals’ rewards are trash for the time spent. You can earn so much more in half the time just farming ambient creatures….
But i would really like an area that can only be travelled in groups, under the risk of being destroyed if you so much as stray from the path…. an area with extremely good resources, but you have to fight big battles to get to the resources, and no wp to make your journey easier….
For example, the end of the road could be a town where you can buy all sorts of crafting materials for a really cheap price, but there’s a daily limit per player and you have to carry it back following the same road you took to reach the town. If you wp before reaching the map’s exit, you lose all the goods you bought/collected.
If you wanna run dungeons forget about condi necro. Things die so fast that you would be next to useless.
Only place where condis come handy, is the bosses in high level fractal pug runs. People are scared of meleeing, turning the fight into an unending bore fest. If you cant burn the boss, condis should do better than staff or axe.
I’m still running around with my hybrid necro like a boss muahahahahhahahahahaha
my current build:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-30;3kHFH0047JkJ0;9;467A;0136156146;4I3o3L;1m9fgm9fgA0FfYmVJ;3mcm7ncn7ococ0o-NF2m;5NYCwNYBwk2Ewk2Ew7YBm;9;9;9;6V6-7-F5athinking of dropping the spite line for death magic though…
what’s the hybrid part of your build? i mean, you can either try to apply condis with your scepter, or do some sort of condi+miserable direct damage with staff (it would probably be better to stay with scepter)… and then you are tanky because of vitality…. is this a wvwvw build? I was talking pve.
Not that it was great before patch but now, with the low condition duration and the nerf to barbed precision, it seeems going hybrid is a bad idea.
First, we cannot reach the bleed cap like we could, so there’s no ‘swap to dagger and burst the target down while your bleeds are ticking so extra bleeds are not wasted’
Second, the bleeds fall off so fast that once you move back to scepter, you face another unproductive ramp up.
And third, the +condi damage of the trait line was now given to the scepter only, so if we swap to, say, dagger, not only do our bleeds run out, but they do so causing less damage.
I guess that the only use for hybrid necro now is to burst the target when it’s about to die (and to be able to damage doors), but i wonder if the loss of utility justifies it.
(edited by Aenesthesia.1697)
How do you stack enough bleeds to proc blood bond? I tried something like yours but ended up using the +speed trait because i couldnt get blood bond going.
All pve can be solved, therefore no pve can be challenging. You just follow the solution and you win.
That’s not entirely true.
You may know he plan, but you have to excecute it properly or you dont make it.
Knowing what to do, and knowing how to do it, are two different things.
The challenge comes in figuring out what to do, and excecuting accordingly.
Forum bug is forum bug
Necros are not stompers. You can stomp a mesmer, an ele, and a thief if their teammates are mia, but you dont try to stomp in a teambattle unless you are really desperate.
What you can do, is charge life force with the downed player, stab him with dagger aa, locust swarm him, drop well of suffering if he cant teleport (with the new necro trait, all downed plYers can teleport)
start with a warrior. simpler, more intuitive, and always in demand
And bo ring!
I am a dungeons/Raids player , i love PVE , with grps or solo it wont matter and i dont care about PVP at all
Preoare to be severely let down by this game.
But, to answer your question, elementalist, though being one of the squishiest classes, is also one of the most versatile, being able to provide insane offensive support and damage.
If you get a special gay friendly colour, i want a special hetero colour, just for the sake of equality.
I mean, it’s pretty absurd to say “we are all equal” when dressing purposedly different.
Way to miss the point. Did your highest court also have to tell people that heterosexual marriage should be legal? I’m guessing nope, that has always been legal. Try to think about that distinction for a minute.
_
Precisely. Right now, gay marriage is as legal as heterosexual, so there’s no need to kitten about it anymore, is there?
No more bullet sponge, thank god ! mostly for World Boss, it took way too long and it was simply boring ! People who AFK have a higher chance to miss the events, 100% success + stress free, No frustration in Map Chat so less toxicity and Players are more active on doing events rather to AFK to wait for the patch to be open at VW and waiting for the breach.
Players who disagree are:
- think SW is an eSport event
- love to explain everything in map chat because you “look cool”
- love to AFK
- think this game is challenging
Before the patch, I would simply go to the champion/world boss , press 1 and look at my second monitor.
Yeah because farming an event with 100% success rate is really fun. Why is it you people polarize everything taking things to the extreme? The marionete wasnt an esport, but was much more fun than this watch and collect rewards fiasco.
So I was having an alt run the Pirate’s JP in LA again cause I got booted out because of the new fancy cinematic we have to see and I noticed my fiery dragon sword provided no light to help with the dark bit. Is this a bug? Because I liked how it was like an extra torch before and I mean it’s on fire so….
I dont know about your weapon, but cobalt still works.
If you get a special gay friendly colour, i want a special hetero colour, just for the sake of equality.
I mean, it’s pretty absurd to say “we are all equal” when dressing purposedly different.
I want to be making my own builds myself, and customizing it to my favorite playstyle, not just copying apparently really OP builds that everybody else uses. I for this reason hope that the new trait system makes traiting what it is supposed to be: creating your own builds. If you were supposed to just choose from a limited set of OP builds, you would just select a button on the game for the build you wanted to use. But that’s not how it works, and the whole idea of a trait system is that you are meant to use it for your own playstyle. Does anyone agree with me?
I dissagree with you.
I mean, i agree in that you can runwith whatever build you want, but i fail to see the reason behind your post. Nobody forces you to select the meta build.
I tried my build against a couple burst thieves in 1v1 wvw. Both ran after a small amount of combat. It was great, I kept healing, every time they tried to burst me down, they couldnt keep up heh
Uh, but if you cant kill them, and you cant run, whats the point of being tanky? You are basically a sitting duck waiting for a hunter with a big enough gun to come and shoot you down….
I think the op is ticked off because he was hoarding some of those old rare weapons that will stop being rare and go down in price……
I’m sorry, I hate to be negative but I don’t like the new Lion’s arch at all. The old one was intricate and interesting. This looks like, well, boring. I was expecting so much much more. I mean, sincere disappointment.
I dont know if boring is the word. It looks empty, desserted, dull. There are some nice parts though (like the commodores quarter, or the weird architecture of the bank, lighthouse and harbor, or the big open air restaurant) but in general it looks like they didnt take enough time to fill the properly. Compare it with divinity’s reach and see how much more work went to the krytan capital instead.
On another point of view or defense on my tought : Condition damage is directly linked to toughness, making the condi builds heavily defensible.
that’s simply not true. To deal optimal condition damage, you need condition damage, power (cd scales with power) and precision (because of the on crit procs that apply bleeding or burning). Yes, you can run with precision, toughness, CD, but you would be like a direct damage running in knights….
well i guess you were right OP
haha…
hahahaha….
HAhahahha….
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAfeels good to be right
wipes away tears
wait till everybody figures out what to do with their profession to cry victory.
So far, power wells necro felt almost ok. I’ve been trying a signet hybrid with dagger/wh and axe/focus. Feels nice to have all the might but it seriously miss the well of suffering.
uh, i don’t know. What pve builds were destroyed by this last patch? for all i know, you maybe lost a trait or two, but gained access to 3 more and the ones you keep actually do more things than before.
and you get to mess with traits because you want the traits, not like before, where you would go for a trait line just for the stats and some mediocre traits you had to take anyway.
op you can’t be serious? what trait that helped you survive through the maps have gone? You may be overreacting a little bit.
I already called it. They won’t realize that the only reason Necromancers are destroying people with condis is because other condi builds are so stupidly powerful that even condi builds can’t deal with their own condis.
what build are you using to destroy people? i tried conditions and was bored to death trying to get more than 5 stacks of bleed on a seemingly immune elementalist: between cleansing fire, stop drop and roll, cleansing wave, and cleansing water, there’s not much i could do but retreat…. any tips?
