There’s no way that adding more different builds will make it easier to balance the game. Because now there are more builds that ANet has to make sure are relatively equal.

And there will always be a meta. The meta is player created. There will always be one build or one team composition that will be the most efficient and that will be the build or team composition used. The only variations typically accepted are ones that don’t fall too far behind the top build or team comp.

Indeed, but if some meta is to much and is carrying more the players then the players carries the build it should be changed, there should a shorter gap between Meta and non meta.

This is an oxymoron. You cannot make a difference gap smaller between things being optimal or not.

It’s like asking for Rabid to be on par with Viper’s. One is finely tuned to have a defensive stat set, the other is a glass cannon. The same applies to traits. Something will always be best in slot, nothing short of a complete system overhaul will fix this, however in doing so you will eliminate diversity in the process as you’ll end up with a homogeneous system in its place.

I understand you but i do not see it ending like that, offc the system had to be overhauled a litlle bit (wich is what Anet will never do, i dont see that happening).

The change they did in druid healing power was a good one, they did the same to mace healing, heals less but if u invest it will heal more, some classes migh have to much effectivness in some stats, and those quoficients need to be changed, that wont create the homogeneous gameplay, cause the diferent play styles are still there, but would require more player side than class carrying the player due its effectiveness, with this alot of stats could come back to pvp, pve would not be affected…

i would call it Glint, i always saw many glints eggs in gw1 (but only this one atched), i expect this fragon to ve a vessel for Glint reencarnation and it will start remmembering the olders lifes it had.

Maybe Aurine is a temporary name, i dont see a dragon with that name on the long run….. does not make sense.

Bow of truth could be converted like that, select zone and weapon would bomb with those 60Hp healing arrows, with in a 8-10sec interval (or we have 3 charges after 3 charges spent utility enter in CD), weapon would last 30seconds, and with a 1 minute recharche, conditions are randomly tranformed to boons(when traited).

Both, Hammer and Sword would be fun if they get atached to Guardian, and command sends them to cast skill on target (in range) then get back close to guardian.

Just a hunch, but I can see spirit weapons changing come next expansion. Otherwise, asking for fruitful changes now seems wasted by the design/development team. It could also be a route they don’t want to take Guardians in anymore – use of AI.

They didnt have to make fruitful changes. Make them unkillable again and reduce CD. SW would be useful again.

I don’t want them to be Necro Minions 2.0. AI builds are boring. If they make them untargettable (so they don’t aggro) that is a different story. But even then, its better to have their effects on player rather than seperately on them.

Well SoA is a dencent skill, it worths alot to take it, it lacks A.I or more control over the shield positioning, a flag to control it like we had on gw1 enchies would be nice.

Set flag XY position and dome interval would happen there, this migh work for shield and “horribow” control, but for Sword and Hammer they need to atack our target.

Horribow needs new skills :\

my server keeps getting paired against bigger servers or at least servers that can be active 24/7 while mine is only active at night

and defending is impossible because siege cant be placed anywhere safe from player exploits and attacks

by exploits i mean mesmers being able to aim their pulls behind the actual walls and pull groups of defenders to the cluster of attacks from attackers , we’re talking about 500+ range behind the walls , LOS needs fixing

rangers and eles can decimate whatever siege is placed

rangers and mesmers can summon their clones and pets behind the walls and ontop of the siege

So, according to your post , your server have less players ,so they should not be able to capture any defended objective , or you consider that you are smarter /more skilled than your enemy, behind an arrow cart ?
As i see this is just a rage topic cause you lost your keep /tower.
Defence in this game is too strong already, just l2p

It’s never been a l2p issue, it’s always been a l2stack issue. Of course there are some that think that overstacking a server is part of playing the game.

Swamurabi gw2 was designed to be like this, structures are ment to be lost not holded… its a ktrain concept for who caps more faster for more ppt at the long run.
It is like gw1 Alliance batles but now u have walls in the srines that need some siege to take them down, nothing more.

This isnt a siege RvR game…. besides ppt and chest rewards theres zero value for the structures.

U are right it is not a l2p, it is trying to play gw2 in a way game was not designed to.

@Rezzet.3614, dont expect much if u dont have the necessary amount of people, there are alot of people making huuuge mistakes when defending tho.

Defense is easilly when u have numbers+ siege or can overwhelm the atackers, when u dont dotn expect to do much either, meanwhile overwhelming a structure is very easy even with defenders, and some towers keeps are easy to glitch.

The true sad part about underwater combat for Guardian is the fact that downed #2 is the most damaging skill we have.

Spirit weapon casted under warter will not make your land skill on CD either, wich is a good gltich :].

@ Aeolus thieves actually need to have preparedness baseline since Anet wants to balance around a 15 Ini pool instead of the 12 Ini baseline Ini pool.

Probably OP is with mesmer just relying with clones and stay still or not move move much(wich is mandatory as a mesmer if ur squishy), he needs lure thief better.

As if the outfits were nice….or good looking… and the armor huge pauldron are fugly as hell.

Outfits tend to be 1 full body replacer on top the skeleton, while armors tend to be several individual parts, if armors are being reused from already done armor pieces it shoould not be that much harder than reuse the outfits to make new ones, this game dont have body coliders either to aply to the armors.
I believe by doing more outfits its less time consuming and the animations can be fully integrated in one piece, while in armor they need to make it indiviadually (almost).

Unsure how this will play out on a longer period but as for now i can see it’s not a good idea as it might favor the already dominating side. Just keep everything paper and hold your t3s.

This is pretty much spot on, it will just enable the dominant server to get bigger wins.

That’s indeed a problem but what incentive you have to attack T3 objectives when you can capture paper ones and have the same effect? I think the ideal would be if the upgrades on objectives reseted with each skirmish, making you have to work toward upgrading them if you intent to make them T3 for the points.

What it matters is the reward itself, more loot few more FREE wxp+ rewards track etc, did the loot change as well?

I think it will to continue the same as before….as much this sounds a decent change, better late than never (this change should be ocurred 2years ago….).

People ktrain due the free rewards being acumulated and complete the rewards track much faster w/o effort than normal gameplay , not the ppt system…. mostly

If you think releasing more elite specs will improve build diversity, I don’t need to read the rest of your post.

It wont because the actual one will be nerfed or the new ones will be even more OP that no one want to runs the old stuff, its like they avoid armor progression but they do it on specs being released by increasing the power creep.

Besides the next release should not be a elite spec… just some new wepaon and its respective trait.
Anet should have learned that they dont know how to design clesses that fit pvp, pve and WvW w/o gimmicks that are easy to reproduce, so an elite spec should be out of order.

Pregnantman.8259, SoASW is actually almost decent in WvW but 1 minute cooldown is to much for the shield if we cant control the shield position and dies in 1 hit weapon runs out of combat sometimes even goes to frontline as a melee doing nothing just to the middle of all aoe…., while Anet dont fix the A.I,

And the bow is completelly useless completelly agree with that :\.
The bow does no damage it is a defensive weapon, and yet ive seen the bow atacking enemies while no damage occurs and ignore my condis, was it removing condis form the enemy (i missed that part)? since even defensive SW use offensive A.I, reason shield goes in melee range and runs out of combat.

Must admit SW shield is very good to fight against longbow druids, when the shield dont go to protect a ambient creature… XD

A way to fix SW is to make them with Decent A.I or reduce thm CD to compensate for lack of A.I.

Edit.. just look at gyros CD… Ç_Ç 15-20 sec CD…

Ghost.7032 the old stabily could be countered, with loads of necros with marks removing boon wich was not that practical and gave up better addvantage for frontlines hammer trains, the actuall thing is that we need a frontline with stability and runes of durability gimmick to counter it the CC.

Both, as in inital state and the actual one arent that good, but the ICD is needed cause stability is almost useless nowadays.

How about no more siege and we fix WvW. Anet please just hire some RvR vets that are motivated, have them look at ESO, Crowfall, and Camelot Unchained and some of the other RvR type games. We can debate here all we want but lets be real. While WvW is open for all, we got alot of casuals here who are just bout that zerglife and arnt even in WvW guilds, so hard to get good advice imo.

it should not, but sometimes is best to implment similiar solutions than broke the game even more… when the changes they do are not supoerted in their own game, it doe snot even make sense most Anet WvW changes.

Solution to WvW population imbalance problem

Ritsujin.4067, that is interesting but how would that be implemented, i dont see that Anti ktrain working with what we have now, even Anet dont want to stop it.
One thing that i gree mostly is the PPT flaw concept (wich does not look that bad for Anet eyes, the new ppt system is the same before with shorter numbers thr gap is still there).

What i see is players avoiding each other and ktrain like EOTM players want rewards only, ending rewards on capture would have to go, structure need to be more important for the game than capture redudancy is, and players engage in fights only when they outman the adversary due the aoe stacking, and structure melt if a good group atacks due offense is much easier and valuable than defense, IMO for something like to work Anet would need to end severs mostly, and game would need to gain some structure/backbone (wich never has).
Even so, what we have atm is suuuuuper glitchy and very low effort game level, before aply any or similiar thinking to the game, the core WvW (it is the main problem of WvW) need to go out the window, and start refactoring their own work for something more clean and more simple to change if needed.

-We dont know what kind of experience Anet want to gicve with WvW the actual one is awfull in 4 years game didnt growed in quality but shrinked.
-PPT does not make structures important…no one cares about ppt more than free cap rewards.
-WvW Strucutres are easy to glitch and can be overwhelm easilly in a 1-2 minute.
-Map concept/design its awfull (structures built on valeys….. what a joke).
-Maps require alot of players VS game doesnt hold that many players.
-Anet lack of comitment to improve WvW, or they have a very faulty/narrow vision for WvW future and staleness.

If Anet wanted to changed things they already had done it, or shown more decent work than fake changes with score and awfull link and server pairings

the guardian runes migh make sense with a burn DH, people are just spammers pull f3 each block set target on fire pul shelter the same, mace shield + reatreat more blocks, i think this would be a funny defensive set.

Btw, that SW SoA finnaly ic more players using it im not alone.

One thing that i tend to do in pcp is drop purging flame between me and the target, push target across PF and pull with shield, when this works most players tend to hit PF again by exiting it.

This will make more people bandwagoning to server where they can ktrain, nothing more, and changing servers when their server finds some oposition.

WvW problems lies on its core concept that is very flawed for many reasons, and the recent changed Anet have done tryed to cover that, wich is impossible w/o tweaking how WvW works the servers sytem, the glicko the strange linking system that never seem to work besides one tier etc…

Population imbalance is not the issue, and that will never be chamnged.

I’m not sure how you struggle as a condi mesmer versus a DH

deppends the DH, mace/shield -sword/focus can hold abit the mesmer, blocks, and then sword teleport drop traps can be a big of pressure to squishies.

on WvW even on nomads traps they do the work for me, plus aegis to heal and remove condi it helps alot….

My 2 cents:

MMOStein.3872, for warrior i would recommend the axe /shield and warhorn for offhand, if its for pve i dont know, if well builded they are a freaking wall with ton of damage, and gs is sused for mobility and evasion in mind, so u can have all in one.

I tend to call rev the class for the badies XD
Hammer Rev gameplay: press 1 4 1 1 drink some soda, press 4 and reapeat cicle.
When i see a rev CoR one shot other classes it tells me alot how amazing this game is.

DH traps only works where power creep is aplyed, reason it works well in lower spvp many players dont know/lack reflexes and eat all the bursts, others use that to farm easilly.

Overhall its solid but not pretty solid, u have a super gimmick Ji trap spam build , and maybe something with hammer for pve for the protection.

Only issue with Guardian i would say it is the Spirit weapons VERY KITEN CD… 1 minute for a thing that dies after cast :|
Ttraps CD start after casting and not trigger and traps are in very short CD with damage and boons, Spirit Weapons CD only start after weapon destruction… 1minute CD…

15sec-20 seconds would be so… nice… since they die in 1, 2 hits… and cast time is eneught to get bursted.

Make wvw more action focused

I love and hate this game. The only game mode I care about is wvw. It’s the most epic pvp experience I’ve come across. Arena net I know you and I haven’t seen eye to eye and you like to ban me frequently but for gods sakes please consider the following

Remove or severely weaken barriers to combat such as tiers of walls and gates, siege etc.
Remove gear from wvw. Replace it with the pvp system. Old timers will not like this but I think if we want new blood in Wvw we need to adapt. Let it have the trinket weapon and sigil selections. It makes it easier for new players to come in and change the metas around quicker
Bring back a season with the grand finale at the end. Make it based off of kills vs points per tick.
In game voice comms, with commander having priority speaker.
Increase base run speed of players
Increase base damage of melee attacks
Close down smaller servers, merge into larger servers and open up more BLs to accommodate the population
Lastly…. kill eotm. Let me spin it to you this way, you are having wvw compete with it self for player base. You want low level players to get into actual wvw because it ultimately bodes better for that community besides the issues that may cause.

Now that there is some challenge content we get players that are too scared even attempt it

i would say the same about people that dont pvp or WvW hehehe.

I dont raid nor pve in general cause i have no stats for it and changing stuff to comple 1 big dungeon for me it would be useless.

Make everything paper like reset night and lets just brawl.

players would abuse and just ktrain all day and nigh, no more brwals, cause theres only point in taking stuff back for reward.

Well.. its almost what already happens if we make strucutres more easy people will figh less and rush ktrain more.
Sadly Anet looks OK with this dumb gameplay already… tower have places that are mostrly impossible to defend, (place siege hitting cliff and not the structure for a easy cap as example…).

Lol.. just remmemberred:
Less or no fight? no problem!
-> less lag
-> less population complain
-> less skill balance complain
-> game is perfect

pvp amulets would be another mistake bnalance team dont care about pvp, and forces pvp team to remove content as in stats!

That would be awfull gw2 pvp is horribad, i look good when i play build that melts players… yeah…yet i dont find it rewarding.

Advice on Guard Build w. Minstrel/Nomad

King Cephalopod.7942, i think they both have good heals but for diferent situations.

traited aegis when damage gets blocked
-removed condition
-heals arround 1k-1.5k heals (with blocks increasing my healing power ive reached arround 2k aegis heals).

-Empower, 2.5k-3.5k heals.
.Wings of Resolve with RF combo, 6k-7k(2x) heals.

-mace 3rd chain heals arorund 600-780
-Healing breeeeeeze, removes condis and heals as well (duno how much i prefer the blocks and damage avoidal).

SoA- 1.5k-1.7k heals.

Altough a pack of few mace shield guards are a freaking wall if setted with the right stats, same what happens with necros a bit weak on solo, but when stacked they do what they need to do real good.

Edit: dodges = aoe heals for a good amount as well.

Spvp is only for game “propaganda” stuff also not a serious pvp mode as other games have, not ment to be balanced either, just run what makes easier to kill a target faster than the target kills u .

Reason why guardian cant play pvp w/o a cheap meditrapper build to be in pair with other noob friendly gimmicks, sadly meditrapper is the only thing that works..

Revert stability to not be stacking/removable on cc and confusion to not tick passively. Splitting these skills is fine since those things behave just fine in pve but are nonsense in wvw.
Aaaand I know it’ll never happen but remove the 5 player cap on skills. Let small groups destroy the omniblobs if they play right.

u know that would prappably crash the servers due the ammount of calcs needed, with with the actual aoe/cleaves and ticks being calculated we already have alot of lag and fps drops imagine everyone spammig w/o limmits both server and clients would flood :P

Guardian support is weak compared to how easy is to play offensive, u need to key block enemies skills since sturdiness in guardian u will never be as tanky as some other classes have in surviability and u wont do damage, this game is all about being carried by damage and the better the class weapon can do it the better you will look.
Players avoid defensive builds because this game carries players in offensive.

try this traits, sometimes i change stability(when not needed or when theres another source, for Santuary).

with nomads+ministral+ 26% vit to healing output (from force of will) and plus another 10% healing output each aegis would heal arround 1.5k to 1.7k …altough that damage, if with 2.1k power i hit arround 700 damage with 1.2k power is impensable on a game where damage carries the player.

Aegis DH support with small heals build, mostly like a team damage negator with some anti range (single target), ive been able to stall matches with those suposed broken druids, by keeping protected by the Spirit weapon dome VS pet scales, and LB combo.

Few of this guadian with close to 30k hp in wvw migh be a good anti range wall.

Low damage but if u cast aegis and the domes negating the right damage on your team it is alot of damage absorved/negated, issue is gimmick damage classes with still hit u hard, while u cant damage them due nature of low damage/support from guard mace/shield combo.

-> WvW design become dull with awfull care, with awfull gameplay
—> lacks complexity.
--> owning structures is useless.
—> to easy, and useless game mode that offers nothing.
--> alot of bad choices that borked up the game to much, Anet decisions that made game itself contradicting its own mechanics.

-> Lack of guild system, we only have a broken system with a awfull guild hall that wasted to much resources…Anet even managed to give a weak guild hall system with alot of artwork but still useless.

-> crafting system is awfull, worst i ever experienced and its a gold sink trap.

-> rewards are clumsy.

-> Worst pvp league system, and game itself with the pve class aoe spam thing mades pvp to clumsy to observer and be interesting, to much gimmick carrying thr players than otherwise, if i want decent structured pvp, gw2 not even comes it that list.

Necros are strong when they stacked or when 2+ vs 1 situations, or they pressure a player in trouble with their marks, imo necro should loose efectivess when stacked (there to much aoe/cleaves being spammed maybe its not a necro problem but anet buffing to much some classes to become aoe bursters), and with change make necros more mobile intheir “shadow” forms wich is the issue i think necro suffers mostly when i fight against them.

ur right :\, and i completelly agree, strucutes are not for a team of 5, still a team of 5 can cap a non defended structure or will be ended getting blobbed by 30+.
Removing t3 would make Ktrain even more easy, and it is already alot more easy to be on offense than defense.

shagwell.1349, actually empty structures as Jim is talking are perfectly well soloed, ive seen players soloing stuff, and one that soloed SM(no defenders).

WvW-…… build a treb, treb something,go solo the npc inside.. bam… let it flip, reapeat process.

the CD is way to dumb… i dont understand how Anet even permits it.. maybe to for all guardians to play DH medi \ trapper…. force players play the gimmick so players stop complaining with what is not working since they are being carried with XYZ builds…. it is a awfull concept.

The only way to make WvW is to redesign the gamemode for something more simple and with no server structure, and that can have new cool stuff added more simplier and non stupid gimmick liek they usually do.

The issue behind it all is that Anet thinks their WvW core design still works, wich was the real issue that Anet never wanted to change.
They added the linked system because they never cared about how broken their server system was.
They added the rebrand in score with skirmishes that ends one the same has before skirmish, more than 5 points starts to become harder to cough, most time 2 days after reset winner is already known…

@OP, should i start complain to remove walls since i cant solo a wall alone, becuse theres defenders to????
Most stuff is undenfended and most players dont care to defend already, all they care is loose stuff to recap it back, it is already a very dumb game, reducing dificulty in WvW would make the game mode even worse that is at the momment.

@jim, gw2 players want stuff even more efortless, t3 stuff cant even hold a zerg they even melt if a15+ group knows what they are doing.
Issue is most dont know 2play if they dont ktrain, and still want stuff easy to take on very small scale… sometimes i dont know who fails more, the players or Anet.

About blobing small groups, that is the biggest flaw in wvw concept, blob is to forgiving and to easy to achieve good results.

A servers that dont defend their stuff dont deserve to win either, it needs a balance offence VS defense gameplay, but it is a tricky thing to resolve since Anet prefers players to be distracted ktrain of apearing 25-35+ to kill 3-5 players atacking a structure, because what u said they have all the time.

Population in general, as well as bringing new blood in is indeed an issue. Of course, there should be incentives, and that “WvW should bring a good experience to player” is a thing.

Yet…. Halloween is over, and for some strange reason, population suddently raised. I’m asking my guildies and friends, spread on several servers, and across several game modes, and… They were lacking ppl for everything from PvE to WvW. The issue is a single word : labyrinth.

Easy blobbing, lootsticks shining, money making.

Don’t trick yourself into thinking elaborate tactics. What most players want is easy grind and loot. It saddens me, and I don’t have any solution at the moment.

Sadly that is the kind of players Anet atrackted mostly, they get proud for 11111 oh shiny!
This game is to effortless overhall.
