You need to guest to the server otherwise you arent “seen” as being on that guild’s home server. Going around and doing the guild missions on the same map is not the same thing. If your guild is doing guild missions and is homed on Kaineng, for example, if your home server is Blackgate, you will not receive commendations unless you guest.

^Kills teq 99.9999999999999% of the time. Also, if you’ve got more than 1 commander leading the zerg, you’ve got problems. There should only be 3, if more than 1 at all, 1 in the zerg, 1 for north hill defense, and 1 for south hill defense.

Ideally you’re going to be finding a fairly empty map, then bringing people in. Needless to say, if people are afking on the map where teq spawns or at the waypoint, you may end up failing.

What kind of nonsense logic is that?

Some people will defend ANet no matter what. They could literally get shot in the face by the devs and they would apologize for standing in their way.

It’s not defending Anet. Why would they need to be defended against foolish players who never bothered reading the patch notes, or even paid attention to announcements? If you bothered to do so, you’d have known to salvage the gear before the update. Christ, even if you werent sure, you’d have at least made a thread asking for confirmation.

Oh, dont make assumptions like an kitten . There’s plenty of dolyak kitten I’m kittened off at Anet over. I just dont make thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread after thread kittening.

You’re finally comprehending the definition of living story. It’s something you live through as opposed to something you can repeat over and over and over like your character’s Personal Story. If you didnt play the game during the LS, tough luck, you werent around for it.

At least Anet’s working up to the point they can logically release an expansion. Outside of the Crystal Desert zones, what exactly did Anet have that the story of GW2 would legitimately explore? As it stands now, even the Crystal Desert area would not be explored because the Pact is, presumably, still trying to secure Orr’s regions from the remnants of Zhaitan’s minions.

With the LS1 conclusion, now there’s a legitimate reason to expand into the Maguuma wastes.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

Until the WvW spring tourney is over, you arent getting more content. I am fairly certain they stated that during the tourney there would be no LS (why divide players between content?), which would also provide them the necessary break to move on to the next LS season.

Second, what they were advertising was likely the speed and frequency of updates regarding the Living Story itself, not game content.

Improving Condition Damage (Suggest/Discuss)

Aidan Savage.2078

The problem is not that you have a bad build, It’s perfect, but i also have a good build… But we are both rendered partly or greatly ineffective if we’d run together…

I also run 2 normal warriors 1 might stacking 1 just boring old meta

The greater issue I have is when classes, such as warrior, think they’re the best class at condi and refuse to do otherwise. Yes, there are hybrid builds such classes can do, however a warrior, even as hybrid, can tinker their build much much more easily than other condi classes can. My necro’s scepter auto attack hits for less than 250 damage on it’s own. However, that damage increases by 600% when you account for bleeds. In order for me to switch to a “power necro” build, it would require me to drastically change armor, runes, and weapons.

It would be nice if the condi cap did not apply within dungeons at least. Not to mention if other conditions were able to stack in intensity.

Improving Condition Damage (Suggest/Discuss)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

. If I’m in a party with a warrior while on my necro, my necro should be the one applying, and overwriting, the bleeds along with other conditions. Not some pansy warrior that bleeds something for 30 damage a stack.

Umm.. Its a bit more complicated than that.

The current war meta has 6 or 5 into arms and strength. the power condi duration + prec condi damage.

The only real change would be the armour the warrior decides to take.

My necro, with full stacks and might, will be bleeding for roughly 5.2k a second with full stacks of bleeding (this includes poison which is applied through the bleeding AA) due to 3k Condi Damage.
Oh, and my necro does have capped duration increase on bleeds, and 63% on everything else. So yes, my necro should be the one applying bleeds. On paper is one thing, however, while actually in game is entirely different. Assuming a best case scenario, my necro will be getting off 4 attacks in 2 seconds with the scepter AA. That’s 3 stacks of bleeding. Accounting for 100% critical rate (which requires several conditions to acquire), that’s another 4 stacks of bleeding from Barbed Precision for 7 stacks, and finally, assuming the first critical hit indeed triggered it, there will be an 8th stack of bleeding from the Sigil of Earth. Within 6 seconds I’m at, or very kitten close to, 25 stacks of bleeding.

That also requires a near perfect team composition that maintains a high uptime of precision boosts and fury, as well as might stacks. Which almost never happens unless I purposely build a team for it. That being said, I dont mind other players inflicting conditions. The more of them on something, the more damage I do. However, when the situations are right for it, I fully expect you to lay the hell off my bleed stacks. My concern at that point is maintaining duration and potency of the bleeds, not fixing the misguided, and unwanted, actions of a pansy warrior that thinks they can do more condi damage than me.

Improving Condition Damage (Suggest/Discuss)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

I thought stacks from the higher condition damage players override that of weaker players, once you hit the cap. So it is always worth taking one condition player, but nothing more.

Even if that’s true (which I doubt), a condition player is still not worth it in PvE. First, by overriding someone else’s stacks, he lowers that player’s DPS, and second, condition DPS sucks anyway, no matter how much you invest into it. A proper berserker is virtually always massively superior to a condition character.

Champion Husks at Evolved Wurm. Svanir boss in CoE. Both take full damage from conditions. Both take practically ZERO damage from “physical” attacks. Only one of them you can remove the armor from. And that’s just the two most relevant PvE situations that kinda take apart your opinion.
Also, a class that is specifically suited for condi SHOULD be overwriting the condi stacks of other players. If I’m in a party with a warrior while on my necro, my necro should be the one applying, and overwriting, the bleeds along with other conditions. Not some pansy warrior that bleeds something for 30 damage a stack.

You bought something that offered you a “chance” to get a rare dye. Knowing full well that it’s not guaranteed, you clicked the button. Result = no rare dye.

So the question now is: “Should you be mad at yourself for not understanding the terms of the dice you rolled?”

I full well understood the program, I suppose it was the straw that broke the Donkey’s back. I finally got fed up with seeing really cool stuff that I WANT TO BUY WITH MONEY that I simply cannot cough up enough to get even after spending exorbitant amounts of money trying. I’m sick of paying $50 in black lion keys to get 1 tormented skin because I don’t have time to gold farm for it.

But yes I understand the RNG system and why they use it. I just finally had enough of the disgusting system and fled to the forums to vent in a vain hope that some wayward arenet employee trolling the posts would say “Hey maybe players really are unhappy with the system”

Lastly sooner or later ArenaNet’s Boy “Boy Who Cried Wolf” policy in the gemstore will fail. Yes many players are spending money and they too will get sick of the hoax and stop. I intend to convince as many player as I can to follow suit and cease gem purchases until change is made.

$50 in gems → gold → purchase tormented skin. Not sure why you made the choice to buy the KEYS knowing full well that it can turn out badly very quickly.

This is also a blatant mistruth. I’ve bought rare dyes before at prices below masterwork quality. Dye color prices are driven by the players’ desire to have that color combined with the supply, or lack, of the dye.

Auto add Essence of luck when salvaging

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Aidan Savage.2078

Automaticly add Essence of luck to account when salvaging

When salvaging, if essence of luck drops it should automatically be added to your account. This would save lots of mouse clicks and time during gameplay.

Some may say, just save and upscale them for less clicking. The problem with this is that we could potentially lose out on better drops because we are saving the essence of luck to upscale and click them all off at a later time.

Your situation only applies if someone’s below +100% MF. Once you reach that point, it takes so much more Essence to get the next point of luck. That is why people accumulate essence of luck before using it.

If you’re going to make comparisons, be sure you compare them correctly.

Point being not the accuracy of comparisons, but that randomness for money is bad on an individual level.

It’s the gambler’s mentality. People have an unreasonably high estimation of their odds for getting the rare dyes. They buy the random ticket, find out they got the most common dye, and they come onto the forums and make threads such as this.

TP: EBay bid system VS stock market system.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Aidan Savage.2078

Aidan Savage.2078

It’s used for more than a technical reason. If GW2 had an AH system, there would be nothing to stop users from manipulating price points higher and higher. With the GW2 system, which is not technically a stock market system (the gem <→ gold conversion is more alike to one), is an AH system that is not restricted to purely “sell orders.” Instead of fighting other buyers, and even the sellers at times, over an item, a player merely needs to list their “bid” on the market, and wait for a seller to come along who will accept that “bid” for their item and sell at that price.

That being said, a one-sided AH (sell only) is open to manipulation because I can simply buy out orders below XYZ price point and amass them onto MY sell order that’s at XYZ+A. Such a system is hard to moderate without developer influence because there’s no driving force for prices to come down, it’s all influenced and run by sell orders. As those sell orders creep higher and higher, the less likely it is for those prices to ever come down to historical levels. It’s also highly beneficial for flippers because of buying out low point offers and relisting at their own “wall” price.

A two-sided market system is far more robust because of players being able to directly counteract price creep with buy orders influencing prices downwards. A good example of this are the runes you drop from teq (Sunless). They slowly climbed to roughly 10s in value, and 24 hours later they were just above merchant value on sales with no buy orders left. It’s price wont creep back up to previous values until players decide to buy up low offers. Additionally, this means items with even a moderately low supply (runes/sigils for example), cannot be manipulated easily.

Also, dont mistake, willingly or otherwise, speculation as manipulation. Manipulation would be taking runes of strength, and pushing their value from the ~10g they’re at now, and influencing their price up to 15-20g, ignoring all other market factors. What the runes of strength did as a result of the April 15th patch was a healthy market responding to increased demand.

Saying nothing also keeps their ability and willingness to actually work for a game intact. What would you prefer? I think you just widely overestimate the average profit being made as tp merchant.
Personally, I already stated that I estimate my account wealth to be in the region of 50-60k gold and people said i make too much gold on the tp. But I also clocked more than 6k hours, so my hourly rate is less than 10 gold, which seems pretty much in line with other ways of earning gold.

But what about the guy in map chat who said he makes 1000g an hour without leaving Rata Sum? Surely he is a reliable source of information and would never exaggerate his TP profits to impress people!

That guy must be doing less QQing and more CCing to make that much money. The thing is you dont’ even need to spend much time on the TP to earn money.

So even if you are a dungeoneer or farmer, why not just spend 1% of the time to invest in something.

That’s what I did. And the pay off is great. So if TP is an easy way to earn money, why not embrace it.

its easy for you, not for everybody. Many people dont want to even think about spending time researching every way to obtain an item and the current values of the other means of obtaining them. And i think its unreasonable to expect them to do that to succeed/progress at endgame activities in an adventure based mmo.

Its not bad as an option, but its not good as the best option.

You’re purposely misconstruing what’s being said. No one is telling you to become a tradepost merchant. That is you and you alone. Everyone else is saying to spend a little time checking the prices of items you’re selling instead of looking for instant gratification. Tell me, would you sell a used car for $200 because that’s the top “I have cash, will buy now” offer, or would you take the time to check what it’s been selling for, IS selling for, and basically put up flyers saying you’re selling it for $7000? Odds are those buy it now offers are the exact people you have a problem with, yet you continue to feed them the methods they use to make money. But if you took the time to actually look at prices, you’d be able to sell your item at a higher price than the buy it now.

The more players that do this, the less money gets “funneled” to so-called TP Barons because they’re going to be competing with the entire playerbase that actually KNOWS how those people are making money. It’s purely a matter of educating players instead of punishing those that actually know how to use the trade post for than “ooooooo looooooooooot” /instasell

Capped per character.
Capped per area AND character.
Capped by your ability to understand the market and the amount of money you have.

There we go, that’s the worst offender of them all :-) It’s called snowballing and has its place in competitive games. But simply being a player of this game does not mean you must compete with anyone.

It also invalidates a lot of arguments. Got no gold? DONT BLAME THE TRADE POST. Blame yourself for not doing the activities that literally hand you gold for completing them. Dungeons you run for money until you run out of characters. Farming you do until you get bored of it. “Playing” the tradepost you do during everything else because it’s as simple as listing an item with a sell order instead of an instant-sell.

Also, for those that dont think the tradepost is regulated like other areas of the game, I’ve got to say, it’s a laughable argument. Every time other activities in the game are “regulated” (world boss schedules, harvest nodes, etc), it subsequently regulates the TP by regulating the items on it. Regulating the trade post itself is unnecessary if all you need to do is control the influx of supply and introduce reasons to increase demand.

Why is the TP which is not something the game was marketed for, or promoted for, the main means of achieving endgame goals?

And why is item obtaining designed around TP merchant playstyles and earning.

I’d really like a comment on these questions from John Smith or an actual gameplay dev seeing as how it relates to gameplay. Similar comments have been brought up many times in the past without any comment.

He actually commented many times on these subjects, here is one of them:

That doesn’t deal with the issue of game rewards being structured around the TP rather than skilled gameplay. Plus his comments on the TP would only fit if this was a sandbox game without the constant supply side shocks that anet administer.

They arent. The fact you perceive it to be is the problem. Items dont just magically appear on the trade post.

Make your own TP flipping bot, all the resources needed are on the API forum

And promptly get banned. Yes, you can make a TP bot with an API, but it requires a game key generated upon login in order to actually fill orders. You cannot get that key without violated the User Agreement. So if the game, or Anet, sees you using a login-generated key to place orders, and your characters are not logged in, you’re going to be expecting a ban soon.
