Being angry in PvP is part of the fun though.

Besides, this season there were no titles or achievements when I reached legendary and it was still worth it, even if it was quite the struggle compared to reaching legend in previous seasons.

Although I understand where you’re coming from and would agree that there is some level of playful banter on the part of competitive players that can be expected, there is a big difference when it comes to death threats, name calling to hurt, blocking because a player is “bad,” blaming a single person for a team’s loss, or even taking your anger to the forums to complain because you’re angry. When playful banter and calm discussion turns into name calling and shout matches the anger has gone too far.

Nah, that’s all part of the fun.

PvP would just be boring if people were respectful and kind and only partook in “playful banter”. The salt must be real or it might as well be sugar.

It’s a deal breaker, lad. AoE Moa form from the toolbelt allows you to take down Rangers with full AF and Necs with full LF so much easier since it overrides other transforms.

I mean if neither of those are on the other team you can go for it I suppose.

This is flat out wrong tho. You will never be able to equip more than one elite specialization at a time and it will always have to be in the third and last traitline slot. The reason they did this in the first place was so they could balance the elite specs around the core traits and not the other way around. The very idea was they should not have to fiddle with the core traits.

Anet’s failing to do so with the first batch of elite specs is rather irrelevant until we see if it happens again with the next set of elite specializations. Until then the idea is still sound, if they can just stick to it.

I found my encounter with this bug quite endearing actually. Imagine my surprise when a downed guardian suddenly stands up, still with the downed healthbar mind you, and just sort of takes off running away quite a distance before snapping back and being downed like normally again.

I know what you were getting at but Smiters boon affects all of their heals not just the trap one, again it has a 1/2 second cast, you see where they place it 9/10 times and you can avoid stepping in it, also the trap trigger doesn’t Proc Smiters boon or monks focus on laying it does.

Just fyi, Purification being ½ seconds cast time makes it faster than the majority of healing skills in the game. And you can’t seriously be arguing that the trap has problems triggering. It bloody well triggers before the aftercast on the skill is even finished if you put it down on top of a foe.

Let me get this straight OP is claiming that the skill heals for 11k but throws in monks focus heals which only modifies Meditations to push to the 11k? Since currently the Regen doesn’t last long on Guardian due to the boon strips, steals and corruptions flying around. Mix it with the 1/2 second cast time that can be interrupted and if they don’t even trigger it.

Well considering most Guardian builds end up using Smiter’s Boon and Monk’s Focus it’s entirely warranted. I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been a single Guardian build that hasn’t ended up using those two traits since they were made in like, whenever it was they reworked the trait system.

Yes but Monks focus is not connected or affects Purification in the slightest, so why did the OP mention it in regards to purification? That’s what I find funny.

I see you did. Purification is still overtuned as far as healing goes, understandable since there are several heals that are conditionally overtuned with a risk/reward gimmick to make it stronger, like Engi’s A.E.D., Necro’s Consume Conditions, Mesmer’s Ether Feast etc. The main problem with Purification’s is that the “gimmick” is on trap trigger, which barely qualifies as one because you know as well as me that the trap not triggering as soon as you put it down in a fight almost never happens.

You can’t do a perfect rotation of skills with that class without over 2k hours experience.

I hope you’re talking about Scepter or something because both D/D and Staff are easy as hell to rotate optimally and reactively with.

Engi is a lot harder because there’s a kittenload more of stuff you have to aim and lead.

Maybe we don’t have the same definition of optimally…

There’s not a lot too it though. When I say optimally I just mean rotating the skills to maximize might blasting, damage output and cooldown management.

I guess it depends on build,cause d/d zerker ele is probally the hardest thing to pull off.

Kind of a moot point since zerker ele anything is really hard to pull off in PvP.

i should mention i use plague signet atm. but getting more than 20 bleed in a entire round is not very common for me unless im facing other necros.

While you don’t kite a Thief, ever. You can definitely kite a Rev. Just dodge surge, and UA if the rev has has enough might to make it hurt and it’s easy going from there on.

People keep saying this, yet there’s only really two condi builds in the current meta and four power reliant builds. Signet Nec always was and always will be a hybrid build unlike the now dead corruption build.

Last time I checked Thief still runs D/P where it matters and the only viable Necro build atm is Signets, which does equal parts power and condi damage making it a hybrid.

It seems like the self stun is what is interfering with the application of the conditions from the sixth bonus from the Krait runes. If you have stability on it works 100% of the time.

You can just do the easy HPs in the HoT maps and get the rest by zerging around in WvW for 2-3 hours. All in all unlocking an espec should take you about 5-6h if you don’t slack.

Season 4 will be horrible with the current max burst meta. Season 1 > Season 2 > Season 3 > Season 4

You’re one of those people who has very little perspective on how good you have it now

Season 1 was the darkest period in GW2 history, in competitive there were just 2 optimal professions, and there were averaging 15 minutes of smashing people before a downed state managed to somehow fully die instead of being insta-revived.

What do you mean? I was legendary in all 3 seasons, so I played a lot of matches in each of them. 522 matches in season 3 alone.

You say that like being legendary means something, I’m also legendary in all three seasons and I didn’t even have to make an effort the last two ones.

You were also incredibly lucky if you only had 1/25 matches during season 1 where things didn’t get stalemated hard by chronobunks. I’d say a majority of my matches during S1 in Conquest ended up with neither team getting above 200-300 score on average.

No, S1 was awful, let’s never have a similar meta again.

I think Nightmare runes are actually just as good for Condi Reaper now, since they use Chilled to the bone anyway. Turns it into a strong condition clear plus AoE Blind for after they stunbreak..

I played around with it a bit after the patch, the AoE is too small for it to be reliable. Its very nearly melee range. You’re better off with Krait runes now.

For pve everything its ok and i think viper( all my armor is viper ) with wells or minions and epidemic is superior , u use bip in 1 target if u had use any other skill u would have killed it as fast or faster and aoed.
In fractals u also can use well cause u always at 25 stacks of might.
Why would u takt bip over other aoe skill?

Actually, Wells doesn’t even come close to BiP in a condi build if you are fighting something that doesn’t die in 10 seconds.

You can feel free to do the dps test yourself. BiP does 121 300 dmg in 60s(2021 dps) with the common buffs like GotL, Banners, 25 Might, 25 Vuln, Fury and Glyph of Empowerment and nothing else. It isn’t a very good skill and it has no use whatsoever in PvP, but it has far better dps than Wells. It’s not even a contest, I actually tried do the same test with just Well of Suffering with the exact same buffs, albeit I switched golem to the one that can take power damage since I was using the one with 20k toughness for the BiP test. After 6 minutes I hadn’t even gone past the 200k mark on the 4mil healthbar that gives you your dps in the chat.

As far as I’m aware this isn’t possible any more since they removed most of the Adrenal Mushrooms in raids. Now you only really get the ones you can spawn during fights.

Since skill splits are gonna be a thing I expect Scepter to lose its boon corrupt in PvP. I just hope its compensated for elsewhere.

I think they will want to sort out the Jagged Horrors problem, possibly. Put max duration on them, but Death Nova spawning a bit more at once (i.e. two out of one corpse).

This could be dangerous for raids tho. The rats are holding a significant portion of our DPS hostage.

Well they aren’t wrong. WvW isn’t the least bit balanced for small scale. It’s their own fault for not adapting and abusing the fact though.

Personally I would like badges to be visible. They cause far less clutter than the nameplates already do.

Nah it’s stronger this way. 3 boons corrupted on a 10 sec cd is far better than the old 5 boons on a 40 sec cd. Besides you can still burst corrupt like before. You just need to press more stuff.

Season 4 Nerf Wish List

Well, since skill splits between game modes ain’t Anets thing my main wish has kitten all to do with PvP. I’d like to see Elementalist damage brought down to the levels of other professions simply because of raids. Thief would fit better as the new top raw dps class. If we’re thinking of stuff that applies to PvP I’d settle with having core classes be as viable as the especs. Whether this is achieved through nerfing the especs or buffing the core specs don’t matter none to me, tho nerfed especs would be preferable.

Tbh this season i just wanted my shiny black button. Ain’t stepped foot in PvP since like first week of this league. There does need to be an incentive/worthwhile reward to play other than for buzzwords like “fun”. Fun is for filthy casuals.

Huge buff, how? In what universe o.O Just explain to us how do you stack chill in a raid environment? And even more important how do you keep applying chills so the new trait is as effective as the previous one?!

He’s half right. It’s not a huge buff by any means, but under optimal circumstances the new Deathly Chill adds slightly more dps than the old trait in standard rotations mostly because of RS4 and Dagger 4. But it’s so much less reliable than the old variant that I’d say that most of the time it is going to do less. Either way the impact is numbers small enough as to be insignificant in PvE and Raids.

Nothing apart from Epidemic really. Otherwise its just reliable dps + condi clear from plague sig. You can drop reaper and go core nec for blood magic to get some extra support if your party needs it I guess. Transfusion is pretty good in encounters like Matt and Sloth. I mean you can stay reaper and drop death magic, but if your JHs all end up dying its a bigger dps loss then not being a reaper. Blood magic support should not be needed though if everyone else pulls their weight.

Well, initially I had the seals thought up as trap skills but I tried to think about it from a gameplay perspective and realized it would have been too similar to the wells we already have. Adding more fast casted aoespam would just be bad for the game. Making them more like mantras with those long activation times and the flip skill to activate the effect felt like it would be more unique rather than just more of the same.

Really, the powercreep in HoT is not fun, its constantly being ruined by one shot and cheap moments, for the love of god add a core pvp mode so that those who actually enjoy longer matches that actually feel like “I died and it was my fault because I didnt do this or this right” instead of “I died because things are currently massively imbalanced and 1shot”

Getting one-shot was a lot more common in pre-hot because things like Shatter Mes + Thief duo, Medi Guard + Thief duo and Ramp Warr + Thief duo were very common and were all capable of blowing someone that wasn’t using cele, soldier or sentinel ammie up in under a second. Even in the cele meta where everyone was bruiser those duos were strong and efficient. And while its great that those tanky amulets are now gone, this just means that there’s even less that would keep those duos in check if we had a core only game mode.

So we would have the hands down burstiest meta the game has ever seen and less class diversity than we have now since Ranger would definitely be out of the meta without Druid and the new pets and most likely Rev as well because of no Glint, if Rev would be allowed in a core only mode to begin with. Necro would most likely also be out of it too, Signet build would probably make a comeback, which isn’t a positive thing. I really hated that build.

What I meant to say was more like getting a legendary animation effect such as a light trail per swing or something similar not a full redesign of the wielded weapon.

You misunderstood him. Reaper Shroud works in a way that when you enter RS you are actually equipping a 3rd weapon which is a Hammer that gets stats/quality/sigils identical to the weapon you had equipped when you went into RS. This means you would lose the unique properties of the legendary weapon you had equipped because you are equipping another weapon. Coding it to work so it copies effects would be a lot of work with very little pay off.

Let’s not. Leagues give you an incentive to even bother in the first place. The old leaderboards sure as hell did not. Rewards ain’t got nothing to with it, they’re terrible anyway. No one does PvP for rewards.

In Addition to the MMR based leaderboard you can return the automatic tournaments which had really good rewards and gave titles like “Legend of the Arena”.

Either I’m stupid and that’s meant to be tongue-in-cheek or you misunderstood me. The old leaderboards were terrible, the paids system were terrible, the rewards were terrible. Anyone who says it was better back then has a major case of rose-tinted glasses. People can’t stand the queue times we have today, but they never suffered through the awfulness that was the old paids where the queue times were actually longer and you had to go through 3 matches before it was over. People are quick to say “[X] thing killed/is killing PvP!” But a return the ways of old would probably oust whatever playerbase of PvPers exist for good.
