its not even just about the autoattack, the entire weapon is the least creative of all they’ve made. 4 the same looking skills and a generic autoattack projectile. i want spells and not 4 aoe traps.

I know, I meant the auto on dagger. Just changing the auto on staff would not be enough. Unless the auto change was silly strong. But that’s bad design. That’s why I said it’s more likely they would just add a little something to dagger auto, since its a smaller workload than a fullscale weapon set rework.

I want a Necro version of Prime Light Beam on a reworked Staff though. The damage bubble thing from Lupi would be really rad too. But this stuff is just wishful thinking.

I want this too. Staff has so many great skins that I only ever get to see it when I go PvP for my seasonal Plat/Leggy badge. Which isn’t much since I usually only do the minimum req games. It would be nice if it had some use in PvE too since that seems to have become my main game mode in recent months.

But tbh, no offense to Anet, but I just don’t see them putting in the work to rework an an entire weapon set when they can simply change a single auto attack chain.

Anything to stop Scepter/Torch + Scepter/Dagger in raids from happening, man. I can’t go back to having basically no rotation like the old build after Condi GS. Like 800 LI gained on Necro almost exclusively and I’ll seriously drop Necro to play Engi in raids if it happens.

Will scourge be enough to become raid viable?

Any group that isn’t 100% utterly and irredeemably terribly awful at the game doesn’t do greens on VG nor updrafts on Gors. No one should get hit by teleports on Cairn either.

And while we’re at it, Reaper’s Onslaught needs to be changed up a bit. Remove the 15% attack speed increase, it’s useless because it doesn’t stack with Quickness anyway. Then make the 225 Ferocity bonus a party wide effect like Empower Allies.

That would help the reaper for sure but this “aura” effect have already been given to the revenant.

gr8 then we can dual wield ferocity bonuses along with rev to give a party 30% crit dmg

I literally took 120k condi damage on my warrior one time. This is 6x my hp bar. All in condi damage

Close to death, soul reaping another % modifier, and then the proposed to reaper for cold shoulder.

Greatsword and reaper shroud have garbage numbers. The soul spiral, greatsword/reaper shroud auto and gravedigger need significant buffs.

I don’t think the Greatsword auto damage should be increased more than it is. I haven’t really tested since the seaweed nerf but back then just using the greatsword auto alone was around 23k dps with realistic buffs. I’m not sure i want more damage frontloaded into the GS auto. It wouldn’t hurt to speed it up a bit though. I’d rather see Reaper Shroud get its power damage increased both on the auto and on the 5 and 4 skills. It just ain’t right that going shroud should be dps loss like it is for power builds.

People are unable to adapt to changes in MMOS

Majority of people cant adapt to new game modes and mechanics for some stupid reason…

The problem with Stronghold was that players did adapt. And when the optimal strategy involved Chronos, Eles and usually a Scrapper as well keeping the Door Breakers alive and stealthed no matter how much damage you threw at them it quickly devolved into both teams doing exactly that. And entire matches went by with neither team even attacking the other, just trying to be the first to down the Lord and finish the match.

I liked the concept of Stronghold, but it was far too unpolished.

You prove my point, lad. Life force generation was never a problem for the early Viper Horror build nor the later Condi GS build in raids. The former making little use of shroud in general and the latter using shroud only at short intervals on top of having GS which has decent LF generation on the auto and from Death Spiral.

In PvP every single relevant build the past few years uses staff, warhorn, Soul Marks and Spectral Armor. Those things obviously have no place in raids.

And Scourge undoubtedly consumes life force at a much more rapid pace than Reaper with less means of generating it. This will become a problem.

Clearly. The difference is that my opinion is based on how the game is intended to work; we can freely swap between a weapon that is optimized for condition damage and life force regen . Your’s is just based off of your desire to be given everything in one weapon.

Hm, I’d say your opinion is based on a lack of foresight and comprehension of how the game actually does work. Falsely trying to impose your delusional fantasies on why I think dagger getting a damage condi is a good idea won’t change that. Having an option for a melee condi weapon would not invalidate the existence of scepter. You almost seem to think it would. But the reality is that scepter alone as the only option for a condi weapon is not enough. It will not be enough.

And the easiest way to remedy this is to change an existing weapon. And what better candidate than dagger mainhand? Would it be strong to have a weapon like dagger inflict conditions while also building life force? Yes of course it would be, but it’s an established concept in GW2 where melee weapons in general have a bigger pay-off than ranged weapons due to the simple requirement of melee weapons having to be in melee range to do their thing.

Anyway, I can respect your opinion. Even if it is ignorant.

The idea we need a second condition weapon when the first one is already sufficient to make a really good condition build, while power builds lag behind doesn’t really make sense to me

With Scourge we lose the option of using GS for chill spinning, nightfall to procc blind into chill and grasping darkness for more chill into bleeds. It’s a noticeable gap that assuming nothing is done, Scepter/Dagger + Scepter/Torch will not be able to fill adequately. Add to that the fact that the mentioned sets have pretty awful LF generation so you will not be able to spam Shades/Shade skills as often to try and make up the loss of GS and deathly chill. I think if dagger got a damaging condition on auto we would have something rotate to after having done scepter rotations and we can refill life force and use more shade skills until its time for scepter again.

I think the devs themselves have been considering this change for some time but have yet to take the final step. Maybe they will want to see how Scourge performs in content like raids before making a decision. But I think it’s needed and it would fit very well with what we’re getting with Scourge.

Anet ples add a damaging condition to the auto attack on main hand dagger. Doesn’t matter if it’s bleeding, torment or poison.

The condiburst is pretty strong in PvP. Might also be the fact that people don’t know the telegraphs yet.

As for the rest, barriers are too weak, shroud skills are too costly, not using Sand Savant makes the mechanic feel bad, Punishment skills feel pretty lackluster, ICD on Demonic Lore will probably make the build do less DPS than the current Reaper build in raids.

I really like torch though.

Staff would need some pretty big changes to be a viable option for raids. I guess pulsing marks and torment on auto should right about do it.

Currently I’m sort of not looking forward to Scepter/Torch + Scepter/Dagger being the meta set. Pressing 1 with no fancy rotation like the current one in between 1 spam really isn’t all that fun.

Given what we’ve seen from today’s stream, Scourge barriers need MASSIVE buffs if they are going to survive at all in PvP.

To be fair he did not have much healingpower at all. From the bleeding ticks he had around 1300ish condition damage. That means he had a Condition damage main stat amulet, and there currently is no such amulet in pvp that also provides healing power at all. But yeah, i agree, the rate the barrier seems to decay is rather harsh.

He has no healing power beyond last rights. So 150. Some of the barrier skills scale well with healing power.

Barrier scaling will probably see pvp scaling splits since in WvW hitting 1~3 skills and granting 20 people 5~12k barrier is fairly decent. Considering the 20 target cap and always being out of shroud parasitic Parasitic Contagion will see some decent use as well as transfusion and life from death.

Having Necromancer’s survivability be tied to Healing Power is not gonna work very well. It will also be incredibly restricting. Either base values for barriers or decays values will have to be adjusted. I suppose that would make it a choice between either burst defence to equal traditional iframes or a form of sustain from low barrier decay values.

It will have to be changed for PvP for sure. I can’t see it working out in the current from. Balancing it for WvW when WvW balance is mostly completely irrelevant unless something is outlandishly overpowered or broken is ridiculous.

- better mobility

most of my guardian playtime was from playing bunker guard during the old zoo meta when spirit ranger and dhuumfire made everything awful. the build back then had no mobility at all

- better active defense through blocks and invul

well yes, that was what the old bunker guard build was all about, you mostly ran in circles trying to block stuff with mace while healing yourself and removing conditions with shouts

- higher burst damage

it’s been a long time but i remember staff auto being pretty weak

- inherent higher toughness through heavy armor

armor class has never mattered

- better utility skills (either through lower cooldown or no downside like self harm corruption skills)

if you’re using corruption skills and you’ve got no way to transfer them you dun goofed

Pretty sure qT is aware of the fact that there are Necro players like Farbstoff from LN that are better at Necro than them. And in the cases where someone discovers that a certain build is much better than what was initially used for benchmarking it is updated. I do believe that is what happened last time Necro was benchmarked.

they base all their data off of an immobile punching bag that doesn’t hit back, no mechanics to maneuver around etc. What happens in a non-hostile vacuum is NOT what happens in a real situation.

Like the part where it’s very likely that some time during a fight you will spin in a light field or a lightning field or some other type of field instead of your chill field despite proper field positioning. Don’t act like DPS in a vacuum discriminates more against Necro than any other class. Epi is good on bosses like Xera, Deimos and Sabetha, sure. But it’s still very likely that assuming similar levels of skill, classes higher up on the benchmarks will out-DPS the Necro. Believing anything else is ignorant and naive.

In the context of speed clearing, the benchmarks are correct. Assuming the group is mechanically skilled enough to perform at a level where everyone can squeeze out the best out of their class to the point where the incremental DPS percentages is all that matters. Then the fact stands, the DPS that Necro brings is lower than a Condi Tempest or Condi Berserker.

It’s not qT’s fault that groups that aren’t doing speed clears discriminate against Necromancers. They just provide numbers after extensive testing.

The trait only applies on Torment application. The number of Torment stacks does not matter. None of these types of traits work that way.

It should definitely be split for PvE and PvP though.

Keep the ICD for PvP but remove it in PvE.

If you slot Bone Fiend and Shadow Fiend and summon them and then switch their places on the skill bar instantly un-summoning both and then have your squad mass /gg for cooldown reset every time you do so you can get LF quickly.

Speed of Shadows. Awesome buff. Up to now it was basically the awkward trait you’d have to pick if you didn’t use a staff, but now it’s a viable alternative regardless.

Come on man, I know you know better than this. Soft CC removal + Swiftness in exchange for losing the reduced Shroud cooldown is a bad trade off in most scenarios.

Dhuumfire functionality with the new F1 has got be on hit when your sand shade strikes from you using shade skills like Nefarious Favor/Sand Cascade/Garish Pillar/Desert Shroud. I mean, it is technically your F1 hitting.

Just to be clear … does anyone have SPECIFIC information about how they will change reaper for condi builds? I can’t find it.

There were some pretty vague leaks saying that Deathly Chill will be remade into doing power damage. Not sure how much stock to put in it though. Admittedly, the same source said that Scourge was going to be Condi/Support, so there’s that. Makes sense if they are going for making Reaper the Power option and Scourge the Condi option.

But as it is I’m simply expecting nonsensical and unwarranted nerfs. I reckon I’ll still be playing Necro regardless.

I can agree to everything except this.

I remember when the meta builds were Cele D/D Ele, Cele Shoutbow Warr, Cele Engi, Cele Signet Necro. The only classes that didn’t run Cele was Medi Guard and Thief.

It was dark times.
Don’t make me relive it.

I’d rather we remove stats and amulets all together and reinvent the PvP system from scratch than add Cele back in.

lmao you seriously need to get better. Ele/Nec is prolly second strongest duo in spvp atm. As much as i think posi is mental check his youtube that guy plays vanilla nec SOLO and does wonders with it. When he duo with ele he easily reaches top20 in EU

To be fair Sind, duo with Ele can be utter cancer without voice chat since its hard to coordinate Ele heals vs shroud tanking without.

a 2 minute queue would get you to about 24 but that may be a little higher then what it actually is my queues are not 2 min on average probably more like 1 min 30 seconds

During the last few weeks of seasons my queues times tend to be between 10-25 minutes on average

And I know its worse for top 10 people with things like 50 minute queues

This has nothing to do with Epidemic. Most objects in the game that have animations tied to them, can change shape or are destructible in some way have hitboxes. It’s been this way since the game launched. As a Necro you should already be keenly aware of these things as you can use them to build life force by hitting them.

So me doing the job or a small group already isnt enough? Im sorry but this game even if ot were meant to mass pvp doesnt appeal that much for the lack of alternatives when zerging. While roaming and outnumbered fights you will evolve much better as player while a zerg player from what i see gets picked off trying tp get back to the zerg by pro roamers.

So me taking solo camps from an entire map and sentrys and yaks while the mindless zergs fight it off at Wall somewhere for 30m means im useless?

Well to be honest, if you aren’t at least solo capping the paper and t1 towers and keeps between the camps as well, the zerg duking it out on a wall somewhere are probably earning your server more score ticks.

I don’t mind. I should point out that it isn’t reflects causing it. Deathly Swarm could always be reflected, which has killed me a few times during Thaumanova fractal boss. Something with the new Epi tags the condis on the target you as if they were condis on yourself, so Deathly Swarm interacts with conditions on enemies as they would conditions on yourself.

But he have utility bar full of kitten and enemy was afk. So condi burst is effective if you can change kitten utilities on before fight and enemy is afk.

Well it is effective, since people in WvW are in general incredibly slow at hitting their condi cleanse.
