And fast cast doesn’t work for me as I constantly move my mouse around to control my camera so I can maintain complete situational awareness. kitten this kitten. Seriously.

State of the amulets

I think all amulets should be standardized. I know amulets like Berserker got Vitality added to them because Anet wanted to avoid one-shots happening at launch. But lots of things have changed since then like the quickness nerf, various damage reductions and etc. Berserker amulet should have the Vitality stat removed and be brought down to 650 Prec/650 Fero/932 Power. This goes for Rampager stats as well of course, even though its rarely ever used. Celestial should just be brought down to 319 × 7.

They should also add some of the PvE exclusive stat combinations that aren’t directly harmful to the Conquest mode like Zealot and Sinister. Commons sense dicates that Nomad and Dire stats should of course never see the light of day in PvP. I also see no harm in adding runes like Rune of the Trapper or Rune of Evasion. Or any PvE exclusive Rune that isn’t Perplexity for that matter.

Even before turrets, fix slick shoes.

Holy Mother of God…. these complaints! I’ll kindly stand in the middle of the map, wave, and not press another key. Enjoy your free kill.

Slick Shoes can burn through an antire 10 stack of Stability on someone just trying to walk out of it. The skill was powerful before the stability change and was frequently picked as an alternative to Elixir S by Engis. Now there’s no question what to pick between the two. Rightfully it should have been adjusted accordingly to the change so there aren’t dozens of small fields that are each an individual source of knockdown. Currently there is little counterplay to an Engineer using Slick Shoes on you. If Anet has any sense they will make the skill spawn a single big circle to bring it in line with similar skills such as Ring of Warding/Line of Warding/Unstable Ground.

Let me get back to you on how well sitting at 1500 range killing turrets works in Conquest. Not to mention that aside from Ranger and Staff Ele the rest of the classes can’t outrange traited turrets even if they wanted.

Turrets heal for about 370 every 3rd second. Thats better healing than you’re gonna see on other minions.

Yeah, the sick 4% crit chance other minions have really is something to be envious off.

And turrets are better than the ones you mentioned only because those one got nerfed in the past

The only Necro minion to be nerfed was Flesh Golem which was indirectly affected by the Fiery Greatsword nerf. Guardian Spirit Weapons were terrible even when they were invincible as well. Ranger Spirits deserved every single nerf they got. The protection uptime and burning they put out was not ok. Pre-nerf Spirit of Nature with that 480 aoe heal per sec was just stupid.

PvE, there is basically a single build that’s actually considered good, and it requires to spam grenades most of the time just to spam vulnerability. Sorry if i’m not exactly happy about such a ~fun~ build to play. But that’s OT, either way.

Because other meta PvE builds are so fun to play? Man, I’m just giggling with joy every time I play Fractal Hammer Guard or PS Warr.

Turrets are disadvantaged? Turrets are better than Ranger Spirits, Guardian Spirit Weapons and Necro Minions combined. Turrets being immobile is a good thing. It means they don’t end up admiring walls while doing nothing when you’re getting mauled horribly in a fight due to broken pathing.

I played Turret Engi all the way to Champ Genius. I know fully well how much better it is than other AI specs. And I never want to see the day when turrets are affected by their own Fury/Prot/Retal. And don’t act like Engineers are some kind of underdog class. Aside from WvW they’re at the top of viability in PvP and PvE.

I’m not a fan of turrets but if you want to rationalise those changes why won’t you make turrets affected by boons? Most minions are.

Well for starters, most minions can’t passively spam every boon with 30%-50% uptime in a 600 radius. Now if they were to make it so turrets themselves weren’t affected by their own boons from Experimental Turrets, then by all means I have no problem with it.

Honestly not sure what I’m suppose to do. Can I have a dev comment on this?

Pretty sure you can never get more than 1 score point for a win but you can lose up to 3 score from a single loss. This might help you understand.

What I’m trying to say is that its LTIERALLY impossible for me to get top top 500 rankings atm because even if I played non stop I apparently cant gain rank points anymore.

You basically need a 4:1 w/l ratio to advance with this system. You “winning a little over half” wont be enough to advance you due to said disparity between score gain and score loss.

Damage mitigation, yes. About reflects, it doesn’t work against axe (nor scepter).

Axe and Scepter still get blocked. The guy is also talking about Lich in a power build. I don’t think a lot of Necros run scepter in power builds.

Necro is the only class in the game that kills me in 4 hits with Deathly Claws a ridiculous ability that hits for 5k+ per hit!

If only Warrior had some way to get iframes and reflects for 20 seconds. Oh wait, you can get up to 13 seconds of iframes and three reflects for an additional 6.75 seconds.

If you remove Celestial there are still 14 other amulets to chose from. Among them there are many amulets that cater to hybridized builds.

Nope. If the Necro is power he has a flat +70% damage on the Spinal Shivers procced by Chill of Death. Necro downstate was always good, but since the patch fixed traits not working in downstate its absolutely based.

I was referring to what Terror + Bleeds + Poison will usually tick for all together. Which rarely exceeds the stated amount. Hardly a burst.

Speak for yourself. As a Necro I even let myself get downed against especially slippery Thieves when I can’t catch them just so I can kill them with downstate in wub. With PvE stats and Fire Salsa I can get my 1 skill to hit for 1.4k and it hits about 2 times a sec. This means you dun goofed when Chill of Death proccs or when Fetid Ground is up.

Movement speed is hard capped at 33%. Speed boosting effects do not stack. Swiftness and a movement speed signet will not make you move at 58% speed. Even skills that increase speed by 50% and 100% like Super Speed don’t make you move faster than 33%, they just make it so you’ll move normally even if you have Cripple or Chill on you.

Additionally, you’re an Ele. So you’re the class with the 3rd highest mobility in the game via FGS, RTL and Lightning Flash.

Thieves be acting like drama queens as usual.

Not a Thief player, but Thieves do get nerfed consistently in every balance patch in one way or another. Speaking in terms of the numbers of nerfs I’d say Thief has definitely got the most of them out of any class. The fact that there hasn’t been a single meta where a good Thief wasn’t a favorable addition to a team does of course speak more for the class than than any amount of words.

Under optimal circumstances assuming maxed bleeds a pre-nerf fear chain would do about 14k damage in condi ticks for the duration of the fear chain. You can do that amount of damage in the same timeframe on Cele Engi.

Yea, I am not a necro expert. What changes would you propose that could make it useful while maintaining the theme and intent of the skill?

I’d say make it a Smoke Field but we don’t exactly have a viable way of using a field ourselves anyway.

Condi Necromancer is a burst build and their burst is already absolutely insane even without burning! It’s like you guys didn’t play Guild Warts 2 when Dhuumfire was a thing and Necromancers were 100-0’ing literally everybody! 700 damage burn ticks is a lot different when in a 1000 damage/tick fear chain post nerf + 1000 damage/tick bleeds as opposed to 600 damage burn ticks with a few bleeds and confusion from a condi Engi or (lol) 2000 damage/10 seconds from a cele Engi! I didn’t think that needed explaining but I guess I was wrong!

Condi Nec never had Blunderbuss/Jump Shot/Prybar on top of condi pressure. Just a combo of two of those skills assuming crits from Int sigil with some additional bleeds and some burning will do more damage than a fear chain of old ever did.

I have actaully had a very hard time understanding just what have changed doing my one year break

For one, the remnants of the condi meta are almost completely gone. A spirit ranger or a condi nec are a rarity in the current meta. This leaves Engi without a hard counter in most matches. Secondly and most recently, Stability was changed and due to Slick Shoes broken functionality it can burn through up to 10 stacks of stability on someone just trying to walk out of it. Even worse, it will still burn stability stacks if you just stand still. This makes it one of the best CCs in the game if not actually the absolute best and it can cover a whole capture point.

As for Turrets, they should never have been buffed and the Experimental Turrets trait should never have been added to the game. Doesn’t get much more passive than having 40-60% uptime on all boons for no real effort. I might add that Engineers were hated one year ago as well due to Decap build, this enmity against Engineers is nothing new.

From what I understand as a new-ish player myself, Necromancers do not have the ability, or only have a weak ability, to heal others. We can only heal ourselves. Therefore, we’re refereed to as a selfish class.

That’s not true. If you were to build for it you can practically become a traditional type of healer. Necro has great healing skills like Transfusion ad I’d say Well of Blood but I realized its terrible since the nerf. Anyway, none of that is needed in any of the content whatsoever. Negation or avoidance is what you use in PvE to deal with incoming damage, all the healing you will ever need will be supplied by your own healing skill. And if you for any reason do require healing outside of your own healing skill a water field and blasts from the classes with access to them will be more than enough.

The reason why Necro is selfish is because we do not offer anything a party needs, and no party should need party wide healing. Healing is not worthwhile support. Negation is. That means Protection, Aegis, Vigor, Blind, Reflect etc. Ideally things should die before they start killing you through attrition. Things die faster via high Might, perma Fury and Vuln stacks as well as party wide damage boosts such as Spotter or Empower. Necro can offer none of these things to a party apart from Vuln, which Engi does much better while offering most of the other said things as well.

While I think it needs to be fixed asap because all things should have counterplay etc. It does make sense since you’re technically shooting the same life force that your shrouding yourself in. Like shooting a water jet cutter into a body of water.

Just give it something like the Dhuumfire treatment. Bump it up to GM, increase base Burn duration 1 sec and make it 100% procc chance on toolbelt skills and nothing else. It wouldn’t hurt to add little icons on the boon bar to all passive proccs for all classes as well.

Yeah. Before they patched it out the bandit thing in SW was an obvious test drive of dueling. Even though Anet called it a bug later, which is some prime bs meant to soothe the people who got kitten about it as it even had griefing prevention measures coded in so you could only be attacked as a bandit and not attack someone else.

I remember some guy from the Curse team or whatever making a statement saying that we didn’t need more damage and that we needed a means of escape, not more pressure as we were the only class that couldn’t disengage from a fight on a regular basis like all other classes. And he did this before Dhuumfire was added. I only remember newbie Necros complaining about lack of damage and thinking we needed Burning as back then a condi burst where you stacked 25 bleeds in about 5-10 sec was entirely possible to do.

Death Shroud blocking overflow damage was nerfed as well shortly after Dhuumfire was added iirc. I’m also reasonably sure Signet of Spite lost a bleed too.

Yeah. We hold our own so good that we’re at the literal bottom for DPS. Even then DPS isn’t even what matters the most in PvE. The ability to offer something that boosts the group’s damage or whatever the group may need to do things faster is what really matters and we’re the worst at that as well due to our selfish design. I wouldn’t call that “holding our own”. It’s just a case of none of the PvE content in GW2 being hard enough that you can’t afford having a Necro in your party dragging you down.

They wouldn’t be much of a problem at all since the current “mounts” like the broom and magic carpet are already disabled in WvW and PvP.

Necros should be the king of conditions

No, I’m pretty sure Necromancers whole schtick since D&D is supposed to be summoning spooky skeletons and doing lich stuff.

I do however think they should revert a lot of the shaves they piled on Necro during the Dhuumbfire era since Dhuumfire is effectively removed from play since the functionality change of the trait. Mostly I miss the way Putrid Mark used to work.

I’ve seen every current meta / relevant build called “brainless,” OP, etc. So PvP forum, my question to you: which build so do you actually think is skilled?

None of the builds in GW2 are especially hard to play. But some builds like Necro MM, Turret Engi/Cele Rifle, Medi Guard, Shoutbow, D/P Thief, PU Mesmer, RTW Ranger etc just require exceptionally little player input to do well with. While builds like S/F FA Ele, SD Engi, GS/LB Warr may be very unforgiving to play I’d still not call them skill heavy builds.

It was already like this in spvp apparently at the beginning of the game.

Back when you got 10 gems for a win in tPvP that required you to place first in a set of 3 rounds of matches that also cost you a tourney ticket that you got 10 of from completing your monthly(I think you could get one ticket from daily as well) or you had to buy the same tickets from the gemshop. Ranked Arena and tPvP from launch are not even remotely the same thing. Keep in mind that back then you could also get 800 gems for 50-90 silver with the rates at the time.

Most of the hate for SoV comes from the people who thought it was gonna add some badly needed sustain to Necro in PvP. At this point they should just add a few of those white ambient bunnies to PvP maps instead so you can hit them for some globs of LF every now and then.

As for PvE, you could slot racial heals and still do all content without any problems on Necro. I would also add that quite a lot of enemies in dungeons throw around conds like Weakness so I’d take CC any time over SoV for PvE as well. An uncleansed Weakness will cost you a lot more dps than SoV will add. Oh and if you get might on signet use that means you’re using the signet trait which in turns means you ain’t using the focus trait.

Back when Lich scaled your Power up it was possible to get 6-7k damage Air Rune proccs. Which in turn was enough to trigger Lich-boosted Chill of Death on Thieves. I am saddened by the fact that I will never again see a Thief hit me once and get instantly downed.

idk bud.. Life Blast feels pretty instant cast to me.

Life Blast has a 1 second cast time. Add the aftercast and the travel time of the projectile you’re looking at about 2 or more seconds for one Life Blast. Maybe you’re thinking of our underwater version of Life Blast called Plague Blast which shoots much more faster.

These fancy changes are cool and all, but all we really need for PvE is a trait like Empower Allies/Spotter for like Ferocity and a way to generate might for a party outside of slotting staff or one of the two minions and blasting a fire field. Oh and a more accessible source of stability that isn’t a GM trait or an Elite skill wouldn’t hurt to have in all three modes of the game.

The reason i dont believe it will be simply adding extra is because then its no longer a specialisation. Its just a power creep and a flat upgrade.

Any addition that doesn’t replace or override any existing skills will be a flat upgrade though.

The First possibility that I thought about was just another mechanic on top of the existing one. Like Death shroud plus or something like that. But that didn’t sound too interesting and I feel it would actually add needless complication to an already very full skill bar.

What makes you say that? They could easily make something like a Death Shroud Overdrive that makes your stuff stronger. I personally dig the idea of an overdrive mode. Say first you press F1 to normally enter and then you can press F2 to shift into overdrive mode which consumes 3x as much Life Force as normally in exchange for more powerful versions of the existing Death Shroud skills and maybe some stat boosts. It’s simple and simple things are always good because the simpler something is the harder it is to bungle it up.
