The burden of proof is on you I’m afraid. I have made no claims here, thus my own feats are of no importance nor relevance. I have merely questioned your claims.

But if you so desperetely want to know what I believe my own qualifications are, I’m sad to say I play rather casually and as such I only have 4 564 hours clocked in in GW2 whereas 2 600 of those are on Necromancer. I also have 6/8 of the class-specific Champion titles, 1926 matches played on Necromancer, every dungeon related achievement/title like Dungeon Master and Dungeoneer as well as Fractal Frequenter, full Ascended completed and etc. Not a very impressive resume all things considered. Even though I do have some self-imposed challenges like getting a 100:0 roaming kill spree in WvW that I’m somewhat proud of, though I did cheese the last dozen quite horribly.

I like to think these things are sufficient to allow me to form an opinion on the state of things. And I do as a matter of fact consider a large bulk of the complaints about Necromancer to be quite superfluous most of the times. A lot of the the complaints and demands border on being ridiculous even.

What you have to be aware of is that other people who main and/or play Necromancer who possess far more experience and far more impressive accomplishments than my own meagre collection have spoken out on Necromancer’s situation. And you are putting your claims against theirs. And ridiculing the competitive aspects of GW2 will not help you do so. That is why the burden of proof is on you and until you can prove these people wrong your claims are void.

If you think necro has no mobility you’re playing it wrong. They have 3 skills available to boost run speed plus traits. Use them.

Run speed =/= mobility necro just has little mobility.

It’s a large part of it. Mobile is being able to get around. What do you want to do? Teleport around like a thief? They have a few teleports too. I don’t know what you want.

Mobility in the context of PvP is not Swiftness, while Swiftness uptime is reasonably important it is not essential. When talking about mobility, assume everyone has permanent Swiftness and then count in skills that can make you go faster than a player just running with Swiftness. To do this you generally have to use blinks and leaps. We will get a somewhat spammable leap in the Reaper spec come HoT, if it is enough remains to be seen.

Queue Times Not Accurate

It’s an average. It’s not the definite queue time. Just a calculated average. Basically, Guy 1 has a queue that pops after 1 minute, Guy 2’s queue pops after 8 minutes and Guy 3’s queue pops in 7 minutes, Guy 4 at 3 min, and lastly Guy 5’s queue pops at 20s. The average will then show up as like 3-4min

Why do people want braindead AI specs to be buffed? Do you really want Turret Engi to come back to the game?

It’s not about buffing. It’s about fixing what’s basically a gamebreaking bug. A valid comparison would be if you were to use Berserker Stance or Endure Pain and the skills simply won’t activate or activates after a 30 seconds delay. I’m all for nerfing Minions if they turn out to be too strong when they actually work as intended. But they currently do not. Leaving it at that is not acceptable, even though Anet seems to think so.

I don’t even like the playstyle but the condi management is too good to pass up in the current state of the game.

Sometimes Unholy Martyr and Necromantic Corruption goes absolutely bonkers and ends up refilling my DS by like 90%. It would actually feel like a good build if minions weren’t sitting completely still at the other side of the map most of time.

I think people are really discrediting the sustain potential of necros with the right build. Suspecting that people are desiring that same level of sustain in the video using glass berserker.

I can’t take the video seriously. The quality of the players in it is just like, kitten , literally bottom of the barrel.

Considering it competes with the already hard hitting Life Blast, which is ranged. A melee substitute sort of has to be stronger to be worth taking. Reminder that the skill design in GW2 is supposed to have melee attacks be stronger than ranged ones due to the inherent risk of being in melee range.

As far as I’m aware most Reaper/GS skill coefficients are pretty low though towards the 0.8~ direction. It’s really too early to say anything.

So there’s only one thing it can realistically be – a mish mash of skills that are neither as good offensively as dagger and not nearly as good defensively as focus.

I simply don’t see us ever use such a weapon then.

Last time I checked, Ele’s ability to utilize a mishmash of skills was sort of what Ele is all about.

I don’t think I would want necro’s warhorn, though. Ele already has daze and plenty of swifntess. The damage is a nice bonus, but I’d rahter get a mainhand.

Well of course not. The skills are tailored to their professions. I wouldn’t want Warrior’s Warhorn on my Necro either even though it’s skills are good.

And disregarding the calling down storms stuff people are clamoring for, i can easily see a nice distribution of unique skills on Warhorn.

A few effects I’d like to see on a hypothetical Warhorn are like, the following
This historical version of Backdraft
This GW1 skills looks like it would be sweet in GW2
The old Absorb effect could be fun to have at your disposal
This thing would be rad too

Necro is already super tanky.. yesterday in ovp, i dmged one tanky necro with 10000 dmg killshot 2 times, in total 20k, but this guy still didnt die. necro dont need anymore buff

Actually necros are getting shouts and they’re also getting a warhorn, so this won’t be true unless they give shouts to two professions.

That said, Eles making a fuss about Warhorn is silly. Warhorn is pretty great on all three classes it is on. There’s not much I would trade my Locusts and Wail of Doom for, except for maybe a block, evade, iframe, blink, teleport, reflect, leap or stability. Any of those would be nice, but that’s not the point. I’m sure it will be just as good on Ele.

While Axe 1 is definitely completely and utterly bad, Axe 2 doesn’t need much of a buff, I have had it hit for 15k on another player. What it does need is either increased range or a secondary effect on top of the current Life Force generation.

Now Axe 3, this skill has one use for me. I use it like a radar to locate Thieves and Mesmers in stealth. That’s all its good for. And as much as I do like my thief-radar, I would see it turned into a sorta cone shaped targeted AoE like GS3 on Warr. And on use it does its current effect in a reasonably tight cone with a much more powerful effect. The idea I like the most is if it would do its current effect inside the cone shaped AoE multiple times in a rapid pulsing way before wearing off, like a fast and small mini-Well of sorts.

Sorry, but there are no shortcuts here. All of the above needs to be done, and it’s just poor form to reduce a lot of build diversity to have “easy balance”.

The things you are asking for are quite frankly very unlikely to happen. What is however a likely accident is that they split amulet stats in half after listening to the community and thus may accidentally cause the birth of a too strong build for a class that they won’t bother to fix or shave until 6 months after people realized said build was indeed problematic.

Besides, they couldn’t reduce build diversity in PvP any more than it already is. Even if they locked you into 3 builds per class by only giving you the option to click a single square that said [Build 1], [Build 2], [Build 3] for every class, with say, 1 support build, 1 damage dealer build, 1 control build and it would be an improvement as far as diversity is concerned from the current “build diversity” we have.

The developers can’t use that excuse to make their jobs too easy. Build diversity cannot be thrown over for “easy balance” – that’s just lazy.

I would rather have good balance over diversity. Doesn’t matter if you think the devs are lazy/understaffed/bad at their job/confused/high as balls or whatever the reason may be. Because fact remains that we see meaningful balance updates very rarely, and if the devs feel that they need less diversity in stat spreads to balance things easier I will whole-heartedly support that.

The developers are welcome to make the game boring just so that their job becomes easier. Low build diversity = boring.

Bad class balance causes people to bandwagon onto said imbalanced classes/speccs en masse which kills diversity far more proficiently than any amount of streamlining of stats can ever hope to accomplish. Less diversity in stats is by far the lesser of two evils.

Recently I had a group wipe on bloomhunger

When that happens it’s time to press the little button that says “leave party” because they wiped at motherkittening bloomhunger holy kitten.

You’re not supposed to have to solo anything in dungeons or fractals as long as your party isn’t a bunch of mouthbreathing idiots. And when it does happen it’s generally faster to just disengage and let everyone respawn unless the wipe happened at 20%-10% boss HP. If you judge a class’ worth on how well it can carry people who are making mistakes they shouldn’t be making in the first place something is very kittening wrong.

Uh huh. A “gimmick” you share with more or less every necro in PvE.

But having played both my zerker warrior and my necro a ton, my necro is just better.

Utter rubbish. I play Warrior as well and its far superior in terms of damage and support via PS, EA and Banners.

For longer fights (mostly fractals) I have better uptime on my damage than anyone because of my survivability. It’s just more consistent even though I do less on paper.

That’s a legit L2P issue. No offence.

The more armor you have, the more aggro you get.

Toughness aggro isn’t exactly a secret. But that doesn’t change the fact that there are very few scenarios that require anything even remotely similar to traditional tanking.

In high level fractals where bosses have too much health for a group to burst I find my high armor very useful.

The longer the fight drags on, which it will due to people being specced for “tanking”, the higher the chances are that someone will actually get downed and die. As long as the players aren’t terrible it is safer and better to put out as much damage as possible to end the fight as soon as possible.

It’s great that you have a build that you enjoy playing and everything, and you should continue to play said build even if it is bad. But acting like the class is on par with other classes in PvE, or PvP for that matter is sheer ignorance when there is readily available proof that it is not. Only in WvW does Necro shine.

Well, apart from Mesmers and Engis being good in Assassins stats they’re right. There’s no such thing as tanking in GW2’s PvE. Closest thing would be scenarios like the Ettin in uncategorized fractal where one player usually drags him around in a circle at the far end of the room far away from the other players so they can deal with the other mobs easier.

I do level 50 fractals on my Necro. I barely ever have to use my heal when I do it. I could slot a kittenty heal like Vamp Sig and it wouldn’t make any difference at all.

The proposed change wasn’t meant as much of a buff to the self healing fact of the skill. Prior to the last change to WoB you could reach about 14k healed with Well of Blood in Clerics. It still wasn’t used over Consume Conds. But with all the healing moved to the pulses you have a multi target heal that might just be good enough to consider over Consume Conds. And I’m thinking from a PvP-centric point of view. PvE and general gameplay doesn’t matter as far as healing skills are concerned since you can slot terrible heals like Healing Seed or Signet of Vampirism and do just fine in if you so desire.

well of blood would still be 6640 for 5 players…
i would try it but it needs a cd reduction for me to make it my goto heal. it shares its cooldown with the longest cooldown healing skills.

With a 1.0 coefficient for all ticks you would have a solid 11300 healing with 932 Healing Power. If you go all out and stack 1547 Healing Power with Cleric ammie and Monk runes you could reach 15 812 healing from WoB. And it would be party wide if they stand in it. That’s pretty strong and I feel the cooldown would be warranted.

I hated that my lifeblast got turned into piddly little marjory daggers. Such a nice skin but its ruined by that one aspect. :P

I use Marjory’s Dagger for the exact opposite reason. The actual skin is fugly, but the the tiny hard to see projectiles it turns Life Blast and Dark Path into is great. It may not be much, but it’s a definite gamebreaker as far as telegraphs go. I make sure to combine it with with Omnom Ghost effect with Red Hylek Hue on top for nigh-invisibility to hide more telegraphs like Dagger 3 and Focus 5 as well.

If you’re knocked-back in air you won’t be able to use Spectral Walk until you touch the ground. If you get knocked back while jumping, as soon as you hit the ground you can break it, just like other stunbreaks. However, if you already used Spectral Walk and then get cc’d in air, you can return back with Spectral Recall.

That said, as long as you’re on the ground you can stunbreak at any time. Hope I understood your question correctly.

Just making sure, was this change to Spectral Walk brought on by possible exploits on the new WvW map that were only possible/accessible via Necro’s fall damage immunity?

no it wont. The damage scaling isn’t high enough to warrant taking it. With only 1 stack of poison, and barbed precision dropped from 66% on crit to 33% on crit along with it being 3 seconds you’ll be able to maintain about 6 stacks. Probably 5 stacks because of after cast delay. Just go power on reaper. No point using conditions with the horrible traits we’re getting for condi.

Going by the new numbers, 6 stacks of Burning will be ticking in at about 2700 damage per tick. Not really super amazing, but compare that to what a Condi Necro does in Death Shroud now.

This will be one of the best changes on the class balance.

But it is not an even nerf across all professions. Some have more access to it, and some rely on it more.

And as it happens, the classes that rely the most on it, namely Thief/Engi/Ele are all at the top of the food chain and can take a nerf to their survivability without it hurting them overly much.
