you do not spend achievement points, you just get chests with rewards. the only things you get to chose are skins for weapons. they show as soulbound but one you chose you can retrieve the skin multiple times.

on the wiki there is a list of chest rewards up to 10k achievement so far

you should automatically receive a chest when a milestone of achievement has been reached (every 500 points)

i guess same reason why lord faren minipet costed 4g and lady kasmeer 25g.

same goes with superior runes

i’m starting to hate minigames… i can’t stand a mini game no more… but i will do it anyway to the point of raging

i think the problem is when there is a new update with a gem scavenger hunt all based on skills your profession normally doesn’t have and require no thinking only skilled jumping with no lag.

the halloween scavenger hunt for the mad memories didn’t require any jump at all and was wonderful to undertake!

but historical events shouldn’t be historical and not something we just did?

why should i vote for them? where’s their propaganda? i don’t trust these guys and they are trying to buy votes with goodies, isn’t it illegal in tyria?

i totally agree, they cheat and use their move too much while you can do it only once, and while you could cheat too in a different way before, now you can’t anymore!
so: or we all cheat or we don’t… not fair to be the one that cannot cheat and the npc can just because he is npc…

i’d buy it as i bought the endless gathering tools

today daily can be completed all in wvwvw this is how i did it after the reset

i think jumping ultimately should serve to have sense, i mean the problem in gw1 was that in order to exit from a fence you had to find a door and it didn’t make any sense because a little jump would do. jumping should be a way to break barriers in the world and feel it like it is more open with no barrier put there because they are needed.

look at skyrim, there was no barrier at all in the open world, the only barrier used made very much sense.

but when jumping become the core of the game, and even the profession you chose doesn’t matter anymore, what is the difference between my mesmer and super mario?

in dragon ball arena, super adventure box, mad king clock tower, wintersday jumping puzzle, wintersday mini pvp game, halloween mini pvp game and lastly the sanctum sprint i wasn’t my profession anymore, i was just somebody with same skills and stat like anybody else and my profession couldn’t do any difference, only the lag made the difference and the pc performance.
and that is a way to try to be fair but fail miserably. if i have to defeat other players in a race we should gather around a wii and have all the same performance, based on the same internet connection…

don’t get me wrong, i can still enjoy this new content but it’s not the reason i play on line. and to be honest i complete it only because i want reward and achievement, if it was optional (no reward and no achievement and no title) i would completely skip most of them, maybe i would give it just some try

to be honest i’ve been very lucky and played fractals with very skilled players, so i never failed this boss more than once in a run.
one thing that i noticed is that we fail when there is no guardian or sometimes when there is only one not focused on support and heal.
and that is not very fair since it prevents random group with random profession to succed, but that is my experience, not a statistic.

there are few suggestion i have for this boss:
1 the stone babble is hit based and not damage based so it disappear as faster as you can hit, with my mesmer i switch to scepter and pistol when the shield is up because attack numer 3 and 4 do multiple hits and if any of my clones is up they hit too.
ignore the lava elemental when the shield is up, destroy it as soon as possible
2 when the shield is destroyed focus on lava elemental the more aoe you can use the better. stability so they won’t block you, condition removals and any heals you can get to keep you up. i noticed that people focused on dps tend to be downed easily unless they are very skilled at what they do
3 reflection skill on the boss are important because you can redirect to him the fire bubble, if you don’t have any try to dodge his attack. when you are hit by the fire bubble don’t go close to friends in order to avoid burning them
4 never stand still, but that’s granted
5 only the person with no aggro should ress downed players and it’s better (unless the ress is almost over) if only one person do it while the other keep the boss busy, you have to be smart enough to interrupt ressing to dodge, heal and cleanse condition in order to avoid you to be downed by something.
ressing dead people during the shield and the lava elemental is suicide.

that said it is a very hard fight

recipies for gear and weapon say “require level 80” so unless you are lv 80 you cannot learn it. you can only learn the exquisite quarz jewel, the gossamer insignia and the imbued orichalcum inscription.

you can learn those if you are level 80 even if you don’t have that crafting discipline

if i could use all my mesmer utility skills i probably would use them at every possible situation, they are too good to be true and i never get to decide what to give up when i have to chose my 7,8,9,0

i like personal story quests so i do those often when i don’t have anything better to do.
i do dungeon not because they are profit but because they are fun sometimes it’s hard to find people who want to explore different path of different dungeons but it’s worth the time and the stories are pretty lore wise.
i explore a lot, even meaningless depth of world, but i find them enjoyable, there are many nice mini dungeon that you can discover here and there.
i participate in the new updates even though i’m tired of run and jump, i liked flame and frost because was story driven and felt less temporary.
i run to world boss event when people in guild chat shout they are up, i do this more routinely now since i never get something good but salvageble rares and because i grow tired of some bosses, but i still do it sometimes only to read the map chat and the crazy things people shout there.
i leveled all my crafting professions with no internet guide for the fun of it (but cooking, seriously cooking made me mad and i had to have a list of recipes to follow).
i level alts and do some pvp once in a while, all dressed in pink because i like the idea of death by pink.

you have a point though, there is no epic feeling like lotro or gw1 for some reason and a poor story to follow and part of it it’s story about uninspired characters, i wish they all went to bioware to learn some narratives technics, but this is what we have and i’m fine with it

if i need to be honest here, i do all this new content only because there are achievement points and because i cannot do it later since it’s temporary.
i actually don’t like most of the mini games here but i do them only for the sake of these achievements and daily requirement.

and for jumping puzzle, they were ok, at the beginning, and i’m ok with occasional jumping during festival and festivities.

now where is some story like flame and frost?
i loved flame and frost story, with istances and so much detailed characters, and there were no minigame or jumping puzzle involved, where the hell finished all this??

who are these zephirites? why they jump all around instead of running, walking or learning to fly?
don’t get me wrong, i like the idea of a travelling bazaar and the graphic is awesome, the feeling too, but why?

you really don’t have to play the game at all in order to not get achievement…

every content in this game can be considered gate according to these arguements, exotic are gated by money, traits are gated by levelling and money, ascended are gated by laurels and time, dungeon skins are gated by tokens, maps are gated by level ecc ecc.
but no, you people have to bash the free gift we are having because you can’t really be happy with anything

i don’t know if i wanted to be forced to buy skins on the tp instead of in game, but i want a pve locker exactly alike the pvp one. the pvp locker is even beautiful to look at^^

there are several transformations tonics that don’t give you any skill for the costume brawl.
you can find this tonic on dungeon chests, lost orrian jewelry box, loot etc etc.

what’s the point? why should i keep them? why they cannot give you skill for the costume brawl? why you cannot dance or jump while transformed?

my suggestion is, make them costume brawable at least! or make me do something special while i’m turned in something

also, very fast spawning complain on the forum very slow noticing this has been answered multiple times…
and last but not least, pressing h in the game and going to achievement panel even before the zenith skin were available, showed a window where there is written “retrieve your reward”

i probably took this thread wrong than, i was sure somebody said the there was a confirmation button for popping banners, i probably misunderstood, and i read again now to see what i missed! sorry!!

it’s not the starter euipment, in fact you cannot salvage or deposit the starter equipment, unless i’m mistaken some of this rewards even if they are simple called pvp sword for example, can be salvaged and deposited

this is so stupid, first, for the gift of mastery you also need the gift of exploration, that means map completion, even wvwvw map.
second, you could grind badges by jumping and if you are lucky you don’t even need to fight while jumping.
so what’s the point of this rage towards the badges of honor?
have you the slightest idea of how many things a player need to craft a legendary?
500 badges it’s really nothing and most of all no new player will have those anytime soon.

i agree on the achievement based skins. i would like to see them as usable or retrievable for every toon…

1% of gold find, when you find copper and silver takes years to make you richer, also you can buy a gilded infusion for your amulet and be more effective

edit: even though you have 4% if that stat it’s still just fluff and you are whining about something that is no life changer…

maybe he just wanted the gold for himself

i agree it’s the putrid essence, it comes as a nice package that make your heart jump and than it’s risen trolling you

there are no account wide stats that make you better than anyone else who doesn’t have those stats.
also the achievement you get are mostly from playing the game (i got most of my slayer achievement just exploring and leveling and do the personal story), there are some that make you do different things than hack and slash, but they can be done as a time sink relaxing way.

burning would be lovely, whenever the staff do it i get always a little exited^^

i think if they put back confusion to the autoattack of the mesmer it would cause more confusion than you can do now with confusing image.
and that is pretty much the problem the scepter had in the beginning since caused a lot of confusion and all the pvp were crying about it, even the staff autoattack could cause random confusion in the beginning and so the trident.
i would like to have another condition added to the scepter autoattack and leave confusion on the #3, maybe not bleeding since every body and their mothers cause bleeding.

the only thing the clones are used for with the scepter is when they are traited to cause condition on killing (and replacing), otherwise the clones do really nothing, most mobs sometimes don’t even aggro them

i couldn’t make a portal from the goggles in aetherblade jp to the bottom where the water is.

edit: my mesmer is human and is my main, but not in vigil because i thought order of whisper suited better the mesmer personality…. too pity i didn’t know how beautiful vigil armor is…

as i said you can win also because you are the only one there… so the entire point of being first is stupid

well if we could jump easily like ezio auditore can i would have no issue.
i hate and love jumping puzzle, i hate the time gated ones, like southsun, mad king or wintersday, griffon rock run, i like the one where you jump and explore like the one in plains of ashford or the one in the wind cave, or the one where you jump and you can take your time, like the one in kessex hill.
or a time gated but not unforgivable like the chaos cave in iron marches.

it is very sad to do wonderful jumping puzzle like the secret garden and be punished for a fall, punished with death—>back to wp—>back to defeat veteran to open the gates.

the one with aetherblade is pure hysteria, i wanted to rage quit the game for ever…

lol i lost my point… yeah for a while i would do with no new platform though, or a relaxing one at least?

and also dredgehaunt cliff has a minidungeon in the dark, you can find a kite there now, but i’m not sure if count towards the explorer areas

This game is USUALLY pretty good at letting you know the INFO that you need to know. That is why it is LAME and unusual that the guild roster list is WORSE THAN YOUR FRIENDS LIST! I mean, AT LEAST YOUR FRIENDS LIST TELLS WHAT LEVEL EACH PLAYER/CHARACTER IS! GET ON IT, ANET!

ehm, you can see the level of your guildies and even the level of their currently crafting professions, just go to the roster tab and see the wonder.

also guild leader don’t have any confirmation button whatever i pop out, banners, magic find or karma, never asked me if i was sure about it

there is another jumping puzzle in wayfarer foothills, it’s called shaman rookery it can be that, also unfortunatelly most of the map is white and it’s really hard to see if there is an area uncovered, i had same problem and i was lucky enough to go if i remember correctly in timberlane fall across a mountain that i never climbed and that was my uncovered area… or maybe was in dredge hound cliff anyway look closely at your map in snowy areas

edit: the mountain was in north east part of the map

sector shul is another jumping puzzle, but i think the suggestion you had to compare the maps is wonderful

usually the 2 missing area are griffonrock run in lornar pass and zhul… in timberlane fall. try there

yeah awesome artist, i most of all am in love with the princess wand and the toy staff!

lol, i don’t know if it still happened but i won my race beating other players and maybe by luck, with no shortcut or what so ever, but i stayed in the race over and over for the other achievement that require you to complete 25 races, after a while i was the only one in the race, so i could have beat the achievement any moment if i hadn’t already.
all of this to say that that achievement is not necessarily skill based but also luck based or time based, and i see no point to not let win someone that ask me too to do it, even though i don’t ask for it.
i don’t care if people think i’m skilled or not anyhow it is really the last of my concern
