The orchids you plant in Orr have been broken for a while now, you can only log the one that’s closest facing the ramp, the other two cannot be logged.

A guaranteed, and reproducable problem.

dedication doesn’t and shouldn’t mean sacrificing your enjoyment of everything else though. Given that pips reset, for me it’s a (non) choice between not working full time or earning progress and that’s quite crappy

exactly, the only way to get past wooden chest it to fulltime dedicate yourself for WvW, meaning you have to give up PvE AND PvP altogether.. that’s a really harsh commitment

What if you work all week, and your boss says at the end
“you did a good job, here’s your payment.. oh yea, I reset your clock, so you worked zero hours, thats zero times your pay, deducting tax, you owe us money”

Actually it’s more like: “you worked x hours this week. Here is your pay for your hours. If you come back tomorrow, you collect hours for the next paycheck.”

But because you have not been on the Job the same number of years as your co-worker, you make a lower hourly rate.

that analogy doesn’t hold, sadly. The problem is, if you don’t make 100 pips by the end of the week, you get zero reward.
100 pips = 100% of the wooden chest
99 pips = 0% of the wooden chest
98 pips = 0% of the wooden chest
1 pip = 0% of the wooden chest

you see, no matter how much you work, if you don’t hit the threshold, you get ZERO reward, not a fraction of the reward.

In real life veteran joe would’ve gotten 15 euros per hours, and newcomer jemery 11.50 per hour, but in this realty veteran joe gets a chest per hour, and newcomer jemery gets nothing per hour.

so to make your analogy work it would be:
“Joe gets 15 euros per hours, Jeremy gets 11.50 per hour. If your paycheck doesn’t say AT LEAST 100 euros at the end of the week, I’m not paying you ANYTHING.”
So Joe works 7 hours and hits the 100 euro mark, and gets his paycheck paid. Jeremy also works 7 hours, does the same hard work, sheds the same sweat, but his paycheck doesn’t reach 100 euros, his paycheck after 7 hours hits 80.50 euros, so the boss says to him “look, you did a lot of hard work, but you didn’t make it up to 100 euros, so I’m not allowed to pay you anything. Maybe next week you could 10 hours? I’m sure you can cut out some sleep to make it work”

they awaken at their own (see kralkatorrik, jormag), but their awakening can also be catalyzed by natural events or triggered by people who are not controlled by the elder dragons (see mordremoth), but the worst part is, they can plan for it, they can prepare their own minions or ex-machina to trigger in an age they want to wake up in (see primordus). Primordus would’ve woken up in gw1 if we didn’t kill the great destroyer. Instead, he woke somewhere between gw1 and gw2 (I think it was about 100 years in)

If you have not reached bronze level (i.e. rank < 150), and are on the last place server, you will only earn 1 pip per tick.

Eventually, the loyalty bonus should help add another pip, but apparently you need to get at least 3 wood chests for 3 weeks in a row to obtain that.

with a system that’s designed to keep people from earning the wooden chest?

Look, I get it, I’m new, I’m not supposed to earn rewards at a pace the veterans do. I get it, and I fully support that. But that doesn’t mean I afk in WvW, I join blobs, I roam, I kill stuff, I break walls, I do my part for the community, and in return I get less reward than a skritt in the draconic mons

if you play and stay @ tier 3 participation, the worst you can do is 2 pips. That is @ the lowest rank and always 3rd place. You can never earn 1 pip…..

Sorry, can you say that in mic, so the people in the back can hear it.

This is at rank 6, been earning 1 pip per tick for a while now.. first 14 pips came with 2, since then it’s been 1 pip a tick

It’s a long term endeavor not a 1 hit it and quit it. Honestly i hope they do make it easier so people such as yourself who only care about rewards will go back to pve and the queues wont be terrible anymore

I’m actually putting some effort into it.
How would you like to work all week towards something, and on friday you log in, and all your progress in the wooden chest has been reset.

Look, all I’m asking for is not for my loan contract to be reset every friday before I can collect the pay.

Okay, so after you hit tier 3, you start getting 2 pips on average.
Since every subchest takes 25 pips, that means you need 12.5*5 minutes, or roughly an hour per sub chest.
If you stay in wvw for longer than an hour, your pip earnage goes down to 1 per tick, so then you need 2 hours per sub chest. (I really don’t get this system, why does putting in more effort translate to less pips? shouldn’t the pips go up with activity??)
As a result, you an ENTIRE day to complete the wooden chest, maybe 2 days if you need a toilet break.

As a result, I have to quit my job, break up with my GF, tell all my friends I can’t see them anymore, give up my education, and use some kind of drug so I don’t need sleep anymore, just to get past the wooden chest.

Was this system designed to keep people out of WvW, or is it’s simply become another aristocrat/bourgoise platform?

Hrrrmn. It’s obscure whether the Infinity Ball player character is claiming that he or she invented the steam creatures, or whether his or her ‘creations’ were an improvement on Scarlet’s original design. The stuff in the Living Story seasons seems to indicate that Scarlet invented them rather than reverse-engineering some she picked up from Lornar’s Pass.

That said, I think it is canon that all of the story arcs happened, suggesting that there are at least fifteen heroes… however, only one of them is the Dragonslayer. The others either died off before they got there or became lesser Pact officers.

yea, all (read: ‘most’) the personal stories happened canonically, but also canonically, only one of them became the pact commander, I think the others are just high-ranks, or associates in the pact. But there are also a few contradictory stories, like the Asuran College (first PS). They couldn’t all three have happened since only one person can earn the Savant title. In that prospect I think its the teleporter gun that canonically happened.
It’s also nice to note that in Kudu’s description the weather-ball is mentioned so that one is truly canonical

For me it’s a big problem that all the tickets are in the last chest.
Playing several sessions a week, and only able to get close to (not guaranteed to finish) the second chest, means I have to almost quit my job if I want to get more than 10 tickets a week. If I can just get 5 more tickets from the attempt of the second I can at least get somewhere….

How do people do it.. you have to play 2 hours before you start earning pips, and then it takes ages to get somewhere once you start earning pips

I am on vacation so that’s how I do it but that last part is just ridiculous. You dont have to play for 2 hours before earning pips unless you try to gain them AFKing at spawn on logon. About two camps should be enough for T3, which is done in 10 minutes tops. If there is a zerg on the map you can often just go there and leech whatever they where doing to get T3 within the tick.

Ok I’m confused. People in this thread are complaining about how slow it is to gain tickets by afking at spawn and can get them quicker if they just participate?

I was pointing out his claim that it take 2 hours before even starting to earning ticks. What are you reading?

Are we playing the same game?
my problem is that every round takes two hours. Within those two hours you need to reach tier 3 or higher. THEN you need to maintain the tier 3 or higher for the remainder period, and only THEN will ticks start coming in. I could start playing when there’s only 20 minutes left on the counter, but I don’t really have the luxury of deciding when I start playing. The problem is, you don’t start earning ticks until the second skirmish after entering WvW, and sometimes the time left in the first skirmish is all the time I have to play. I can get to tier 3 in 5-10 minutes, that’s no problem, but ticks don’t care, ticks don’t start until you’ve been actively playing during the transition of skirmish 1 to skirmish 2.

How much I AFK or how much I am actively tier 6 won’t change the fact I need to play 1 to 2 hours before I can start earning rewards

sorry, my English is a bit rusty, but what is “Canon race” ?

Canon is a term for ‘the writer’s concept’ or ‘the true history’

A good example is diablo.
In diablo 1 you can play as any of a few classes, but canonically, it’s the warrior who did the event and absorbed diablo and became the dark wanderer.

another good example is in gw2, during the dragon stand event chain, you are there, doing the event, but you’re not the pact commander. the pact commander is canonically fighting mordremoth, while the pact, supported by guilds and allies are fighting the maw of mordremoth.

So canonically is a term often used when visual variables can be chosen, but there is still a ‘real’ way that the writers decided really happened. So, non-canon means ‘telling the same story, with a different method’.

A defenition I found on the web (might not be official) is
A telling of the story that does not defy the author’s rules, but allows for artistic freedom, or retelling, without it affecting the final outcome.

To answer your question: there isn’t really a right answer.
The problem is, there are 5 races, and there is only one pact commander who was chosen by Trahearne to motivate the pact. The reasoning in this topic is that the Sylvari play such a big role, since the player sylvari has the wyld hunt “defy the dragons”. But I don’t think the writers have set on a single race who is the canonical pact commander.
If anything, it might actually be a female norn, since thats what they used for the cinematic in LS1 recap

Top 3 best maps:
1. Auric Basin. It’s got everything, a long, and viarable web of events, big jungle, giant waterfalls, a city of gold. I held my breath a good few lungburns when I first entered the area.
2. Most of Orr. it’s gloomy, and sense of desperation- environment makes you feel like a war that’s already lost. (I just wish we could go back to the age where orrians were actually a threat in combat, though, they’re so weak now)
3. Tangled Depths. It seperates the unwilling and the ungeographical people from the hardened explorers and travelers.

Top 3 worst map.
1. Dragon’s Stand, yes, dragon’s stand. Why? for it is what it is, and not what it could have been. It’s too long, too repetitive, and the boss isn’t a threat, the boss is just a health sponge. I don’t feel like I am warring against an elder dragon, I feel like I’m doing dishes at a party and people keep putting more dishes in the sink.
2. Silverwastes. Don’t get me wrong, silverwastes is a fun map, but every fort is exactly the same, and you repeat the same 2 events in a never-ending cycle of repetition.
3. Any mid-range map (25-60 maps). These are the maps are supposed to have all the lore, all the progress in the world, all the events that make you think ‘wow, this world is alive’, and instead it’s all a big open wasteland of forestation, mountain or sogen.

instead of a skin OR a tonic, how about an infusion? then you don’t have to worry about reapplying them every 7 seconds, and they can combined with helmet skins.

I praise Abaddon if I make it past the second chest in a week.
Don’t forget, the first 2 hours you play you earn no pips, and then you start earning pips, by then, the time investment is already way past sensible, and I have to keep playing then to make actual pips. Remember, 2 hours is a LOT of time on a weekday, and thats two hours dedicated before you can even start collecting pips. And I’m not gonna play 8 hours every saturday and sunday just to get past wooden chest

Navigating Draconis Mons

Breath of Wild has a 3D map for a few sections of the game. While this exact one probably wouldn’t mesh well with GW2, it’s a good start in a direction that they could go for those that prefer 3D maps for vertical maps.

hm.. asuran hologaphic 3D maps, while they would look fancy, I think it’s a huge waste of time for what little resources anet has to spend on the game
I say.. just learn how to read maps, they’re not that difficult

a fractal doesn’t even have to be at 100 to have a cm, since cm is an extra layer. You can insert a fractal at F5, F29, F54, F79, and F79CM would be as difficult as a F100cm

protip 101 to get started

1. Get optimal gear, it doesn’t even have to be ascended (it helps, but its far from necessary). Make sure you have an armor set with runes that complement. QTFY has optimal compositions.
2. Get a training guild. if you’re on EU, try RTI.Enjin.com
3. Practice at least a rough rotation, skill comes with time
4. Buy the second-best type of food, Buying the best is a waste of money if you don’t get kills, the second best is more than good enough, and costs only 10% of the best food.
5. Patience, be patient, in quiescence your mind must be. You won’t kill a thing your first week, I didn’t kill a thing my first week, Jessica didn’t kill a thing her first week, and neither did Jeremy or Bob.
6. After you’ve killed a few bosses, try joining LFG pugs. Once you have like 30-40 LI’s, you can start joining 50-100 parties. Just keep all your KP’s (Kill Proofs) and show them as proof for missing LI. Most parties will have a 30 LI with 5 kills worth of KP over a guy with zero KP, no matter how many LI’s they have.

When you start joining parties, always be honest, don’t lie about your LI’s, say you’re familiar with the boss, you got several kills, and in most cases, you will be welcomed. (some may say they give you one or two chances to not screw up, but just pull your weight and no one will notice you’re being carried)

Hello, is this thing on? It’s on? why isn’t the ligh- ah, there it is.
Hello everyone, this is Mocca speaking, I have just made THE discovery of the year.
After my unit found the tear in the Bloodstone Fen, we tried to study it’s phenomenon.
It turns out, a small leyline node was overflowing with magic, and it caused a tear of undefined stability. As a result, two points in space and time were pressed together to fix the tear, resulting in a passage between the two points, a passage to a place otherwise inaccessible to us.
After studying this phenomenon, we found more of these unstable sites. While rifts have not opened here, I believe with a little poking we can open more rifts. We have currently cracked a rift in fort Ebonhawke, and you will not believe what we found on the other side.. the Zephyrites! you heard me right, this new rift doesn’t only give us sight to a different region of tyria, but a whole different time! These people, these Zephyrites, they’re celebrating, they’re welcoming the rising sun. To them, the passing of Mordremoth hasn’t happened yet. So let’s go out, greet them, make their lifes memorable, and learn as much about them as we can.. but by the eternal alchemy, please don’t tell them you’re from the future.. the stability of the rift mí-í-ght not be able to handle that.

Yes, the Foefire ghosts see everyone as a charr, even humans – even animals, asura, sylvari, norn, etc. every living being is a charr in their eyes.

I’m not sure as to how they see everyone as charr, rather than just everyone as an invader.
They’re stuck in a loop of defending Ascalon from invaders, and everytime they die, they just reform, think it’s yesterday, and continue. The reason they attack humans is because they don’t recognize you as an ascalonian, I think they were still hostile to krytan and orrian humans at the time. As for all the other species, just blind rage, nothing but blind rage

That doesn’t mean it never happened to me, it means I never heard anyone in my pvp-guild mention, I have never seen a related topic on this forum or on reddit, and I have never ever heard anyone talk about it anywhere else. Thats how rare this bug is.
If you get stuck in a map, report it as a bug, but don’t call for unreasonable stuff like this

It hasn’t happened yet to myself but I see a lot of other people getting stuck.

And it’s not unreasonable in a ranked/competitive setting where a bug like that could literally win or lose you the game.

But I guess i’m the only one getting this a lot in my matches.
Ive only had this bug happening twice in the past on Forest of Niflhel. Since the changes on Kyhlo its been happening all the time.

On the bright side, I actually managed to get a game in Kyhlo without anyone getting stuck.

I mean, true, losing a match because of a bug is sour, but sour at worst. Just wait it out and go to the next match, disabling a map for an ultra-rare bug seems like nuking a restaurant because the sauce was a little too salty.

I’ve been stuck twice in the skyhammer controls, when you break an electric wall, and it respawns, you’re stuck for the rest of the game. But I just sucked it up and queued again

last week I managed to play 3 sessions, that was worth 1 of the 4 wooden chests, which means no tickets for the leg.backpack.
Then all my pips got reset, if I play 3 sessions a week (several hours each) and I can’t even complete the wooden chest, then I might as well not play WvW at all, since the leg.backpack has become exclusive to people who don’t have a job and don’t have a social life

that art isn’t related to gw2 in any way, it’s just chance one is blue and the other is fiery.
But I agree, let them fight in LA, completely burning it down to the ground.

It’s not a problem, and all but 1 or 2 can be Solo’d the only one I could not Solo was the champion arrowhead

I could do arrowhead, couldn’t do TD mushroom though.

I agree on that one, but mushrooms are quaggan in general, I mean even regular ones makes me grind my teeth.
It was only on my mesmer I had no trouble killing it because I could pump out clones faster than he’d kill

Okay, so lorewise, we pay a tax to the asura so they maintain that waypoints are working properly, and as intended, right?
So, if a waypoint is not working as intended, can I ask for a travel refund?

This is a very specific issue;
The three waypoints between Melandrus temple, and the two straight east of it, are randomly contested, you heard that right, randomly.
When you travel into the map, to any of these three waypoints, there’s a 50/50 chance if the waypoint is NOT contested, you will STILL get warped to a random faraway location.
So, I select the waypoint in Melandru’s Temple,
I arrive elsewhere, Abaddon knows where, and get the message it was contested.
I look straight at the map and see it’s not contested. Now, the first time, you’d think “But you just arrived when the event was ongoing, you were propably in the loading screen when it finished”, and you’re probably right, I’d have believed you the first, maybe the second time. But it becomes questionable the third time, doubtful the tenth time, and half a year later, I feel like the Asura have just stopped debugging their waypoint software. If we are to pay taxes, we demand proper maintenance of the waypoints, that’s how economics and refunding works.

Most people have an easy time getting the necessary points.

But only due to the excess from core. The average player is likely going to reach HoT with 30-60 points, so there’s just enough to comfortably unlock the elite solo. Just imagine what it would have been like if they stuck to their original plan and required 65 for the core unlocks and 400 for the elites.

The system will likely be changed, but only for the next expansion since they don’t have the resources to waste on HoT. With their new goal to run the living world and expansions back to back, they simply have no room for mistakes, like how they were forced to pull resources from the next expansion to fix HoT originally.

I had no issue with that. I fully unlocked the elite spec on my main character before the count was heavily nerfed. My thought was “this is the challenge of the game” and not “this is the drag anet puts me through”. I guess I just grew up being told to sick it up and do as you’re told. But fair enough, I also had full map exploration on my main so I could do it within the given time. Considering I had 8 more characters to get to the cap I guess I’m glad too they nerfed it, since it might be harsh to repeat the big grind for 9 chars.

I wonder, though, I now still have so many spare points, can I almost instantly play the elite spec when the Crys- The Mysterious Next Expansion comes out, or will they increase the curve again to.. say.. 25?

CD 25/HP

or will they stick with 10?

btw, just an idea on the top of my head,
what if the cost was low from the start, but had fixed brackets.
like.. enter VB to access the heal skill and the first traits
Complete VB to access the skill 1
Complete AB to access skill 1 and 2
complete TD to access skill 3 and elite skill
so you can’t have a complete elite spekittenil you enter DS by storyline.
That, or this other option:
there’s an instanced quest in each of the 3 zones that unlock the elite spec in 3 brackets. The instance is then tailored to the elite spec, so you get a bit of “how did we-”

Long story short, don’t fix what isn’t broken.
Most people have an easy time getting the necessary points.
For people who have trouble getting them all, there are Hage-Pee trains.
Result: system is working fine and as intended.

Will the next expansion be discounted?

From what we know, there has only been six full gods at any one time:

  • We don’t know Balthazar’s precise history before their arrival on Tyria, but Menzies has never been described as a god, so we have no reason to believe there have been two Gods of War simultaneously.
  • Grenth was only a ‘demigod’ until he cast down Dhuum
  • The whole thing with Abaddon, his predecessor, and successor shows a clear passing (or, rather, seizing) of the baton – there has never been two Gods of Knowledge simultaneously within the pantheon.

Yes, of course, we have a pantheon of 6 gods. However, where do you draw the line between gods and ‘gods’. because the point I was trying to raise is that while there is a pantheon of 6, there are more individuals of questionably equal or within-reach-of-power power that can be considered gods. Menzies wasn’t in the pantheon, and most likely he was weaker as he resorted to trickery and treason, (or he was just lazier), and then there’s the god Abaddon preceded, so if Abaddon took the baton forcefully, he needed to have at least an equal source of power OR a source of sufficient trickery.

My point being, there are 6 in the pantheon, but there are more indivuals able to compete with the gods, be they siblings or just kinsmen, and even mortal humans who can be elevated to a godlike level.

Despite being a pantheon of 6, there are a lot more gods

Balthazar, Balthazar’s Father, Balthazar’s Brother
Dwayna, Dwayna’s Son Grenth (fathered by a human)
Melandru
Dhuum
Abaddon’s Predecessor, Abaddon, Khormir (once human)
Lyssa

And propably a few more names that aren’t in the head-achy part.
More like a greek pantheon, the gods are just a dysfunctional family, of which 6 carry a crown of unlimited magic. Nothing divine or omniscient about them. In fact, some of the gods are easily cheated or frauded by mortal men.

The charr were right, let’s just ditch them and build a pantheon of our own, with Rambo

How so? I think they’re in a good spot.

They are pretty weak in PvE/Raids though.

Not anymore, they don’t have the peak performance for raids, but their latest buffs, or rather, lack of nerfs, put put them in the higher half for DPS classes. The only reason they’re not liked very well is because they lack synergy with other classes. But they’ve become acceptable DPS for raids now. And for regular PvE they were always overpowered
