I haven’t yet figured that one out, though admittedly I only tried it once, and because I was using minions (GASP) they blocked my vision so all I saw was me dying.

Encounter explained: She drop balls of black goo over 1/4 of the room when she is invul, dragging shadow clones (that explode on contact; about previous mark size radius) of her into light drops crystals (and explode a current mark size radius) that let you take the invul stacks off her/make her weaker, she sometimes randomly neons the screen, black holes spawn that pull you in instantly on their full grown phase (around 3-4 seconds of time to react), when she is weakned she spawns previous bosses, is mobile, has instakill leap (short range/like hss), longer condi leap, pistol like projectieles and necrotic grasp (maybe other attacks but time ran out and i couldnt really look at it because i had to constantly swap dodge and Swalk/DP around), also the black goo drops then cover half the aoe.

Some notes that devs didnt think off, ground is rusty red, aoe circles are more than 30% in the ground, not very visible unless you lower graphics to minimum.
Neon lights hurt the eyes, A LOT, especially on a 120 screen and without v-synch (so either crappy fps/your eyes hurt OR getting to see what is it like to have a epileptic seizure/your eyes hurt even more).
Mobs that spawn in the corners of the room have around a 20~25% chance to spawn ontop of you instakilling you (a lot of luck for thus far a mostly skill based combat)
The sodding crystal throws are interrupted by other actions that cause it to disappear, so if you throw it and a mob spawns close or the goo decides not to follow the pattern it did but now a new one, you die or waste time trying to get a new crystal.

Also minions were quite good during most fights here, quite surprising in a nice way (yeah i used them too and that untraited for the most part, had vampiric master instead of transfusion slotted in).

Liadra

Andele.1306

Shadowfall is a 2~ second AoE telegraph that covers a quarter of the room (half the room in p2), and it always spawns in a predictable location.
Visions of Demise are slow and spawn in a predictable location.
Liadri’s other attacks do not oneshot.
Orbs appear 8-10 seconds before they pull. You can kill them to prevent getting pulled.

Its not “predictable” really, mostly luck for the first run (based on spawn, orb and well location), but after the first rotation it repeats till you throw a crystal, then it sometimes changes, liadris leap roll does one shot (ofc not if you have aegis or something), but other attacks are sustainable, mostly a game of dodges and positioning, problem is some classes really need sigil of energy on both weapon sets and you need to lower your settings to minion not to burn your eyes from neon and to actually see the bloody aoe indicators (not only are they half in ground but the floor is also a nice rusty red color).
Hit orbs once, they die, ignore/kite quaggan/other spawn into wells or just run, dropping crystals on her weakens her/allows you to actually do damage, really try not to touch a mob or go within 190 range of it, since then they explore and instakill you/sometimes you rally with a third of hp (as in dont be in any edge since there is the nice 25% chance of death).

Atleast as a Necro you can get TO that fight… Rangers have the same problem, but at Salazan… The only tactics available, rely on mechanics that rangers simply do not have… So it’s pretty much GG at that point… Sadly…

On the fact that you must shoot from a range? Seriously walk a bit left right when the flame waves slowly walk to you and drop healing spring (or in my case Well of Blood) in case of the flame trail being on you to make it just tickle, then shoot longbow (or in my case necrotic grasp) and he dies after the 3rd circle/just before the announcer says the second time that you are getting close to being dropped.
Also dont try to do anything with the actual fire circles, either run as hell when he raises his hands or stay put about a greatsword autoattack worth of range away from it.

Soul reaping (death shroud has synergy with high crit chance because they added a gm trait).

In general it didnt have much synergy with crits, boon duration on the other hand (protection from spectrals/trait triggers and more stability – so actual migration), in DM its kinda wasted like a lot of traits since minions hinder the trees full potential (staff regen is nice, so is well protection, retal on heal is kinda worthless in comparison to the trait that i refuse to name since it would be kittenting on its skill equivalent in GW1).

As for necro defensive side, still support that we need to get this trait http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_historical_traits#Necromancer_traits – 10th down the line, back instead of FITG.

Reading over some of those old traits got me excited, even thought they’re long gone.

Same here, and not just the necro ones either. Those were such amazing and unique ideas….. makes me sad

You know whats sad, less than 50% of the people complained about the ideas behind old traits , the one that did wanted direct damage boosts, then some specific immortal and/or genocide scale kill builds came up (when Brawn was 1% increase in damage pre point and there was the swapping on adrenaline bug, essencially allowing for burst skills to be used as auto attacks), the people that did want just damage boosts whined so much that the devs utterly destroyed what you could do with the profession.

TLDR – The +5% if x is on y need to go for more traits that change how skills work or proc actual in game skills.

You were somehow 2 shot through both full DS and full HP? It didn’t happen, I don’t need pics to know that. He might have macro’d you, you might have accidently popped out of DS, but I don’t believe for a second that he two shot you through 33k+ eHP. It is entirely possible that a thief did some super combo and it did a lot of damage, that I perfectly understand as it has happened to me before, but lets just drop the pretense and all agree that it was more than two hits.

Well if we assume optimal conditions (25 might, fury, best burst traits – if i might add that i dont know since my thief is mostly for trolling in pvp and pve farm, 25 bloodlust, scholar or thief runes, maxed gear/ascended since it is wvwvw, force sigil on weapon and Suash soup/Sharpening stone for consumables), in comparison base armor stats that a amulet in pvp can provide a 7.7k hit could turn into a nice 21~25k hit on someone without any build defensive stats. A necromancer, if we take currently known facts about the necro, would have around 40k to 41k, so it would be possible to, under a vacuum/in optimal conditions for a thief to 2 shot a necromancer or any profession if they dont build any defensive stats, but that also raises 2 questions, why/how did you let a fully buffed theif get on you and why didnt you have soldier/kngiht/any kind of statistical defensive buffs.

Little side notes both rabid and carrion wearers cannot be killed even in 3 backstabs if from 100% LF and 100% hp.

P.S. HiSaZuL you drunk go home, or even better if you are just angry go home then get drunk with blackjack and hookers, a lot of better necro players seem to have the obsession with rage when a thief is mentioned and how cheap they are and i do kinda understand it (a lot actually), but it doesnt help the topic at hand.

What’s the most efficient weapon for dealing out death and suffering?
The pistol.
Giff necros pistal. Clint Eastwood-reaper for 2014

Actually cold weaponery is way more effective at actually killing people, pistols are just more efficient at reducing possible retaliation (as a example anyone within 15m of a person carrying a gun could kill them with a dagger unless they are already aiming by the time the person with said dagger starts moving, as in dont bring a dagger to a gun fight is very inaccurate).
Also rifles have a higher total kill % than guns in terms of firearms even if the amount of times someone wanted to kill a person with a hugn is higher (so statistically even rifles more lethal than guns)

Now if we add the fact that a person on tyria holding a weapon instantly becomes a expert on how to use it and all the magic going on, not only would cold weaponery be the optimal choise, but even bows would be stronger than guns since the power the arrow would hit you with is proportional to the strenght the weilder puts into it.

I want to get thru the traits “Foot in the Grave” how to use it, how to make DS powerful. Devs say that it’s still too powerful, but people don’t know how to use it, so I would love to know how to use DS properly. Not what DS is meant for – we, all necro know it.
But – where is the step forward to master the DS.

Problem plain is no dev is actually playing the necro hardcore, thus they dont know how reverse their opinion that everyone should shroud dance and be able to somehow not get killed because DS would be on cd 24/7, unlike what the truth thakittens our second form and third weapon set.

For fractals id say 20 into blood, 20% off wells and Transfusion (2.6k heal each time you use life transfer) are life savers.
So here are 2 builds: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNAW3djMaV6ZambM8JkJFdz4ApIXqFqHrD78hA-jwyAYLBZ0VyoPCxEIMqAUyrIas1zioxqrxUuER127hoZyTtUARMGA-e
Burst with axe/focus (and you get around 25% LF), swap to staff, mark drop (and using putrid to transfer over cpc weakness if you used it).
And my personal setup in case of a group that has enough zerkers but the guys seem to be falling onto their bums so much that i wonder how their behinds aint flat (utilites and runes can be swapped out ofc on both builds depending on preference and encounter – like sgrasp, sarmor and swalk on the harpy parts to just run across with the guys while pulling the mob aggro onto yourself), but the setups are for the general strengths necros can do over/with other professions

For the 10 into DM that the bloody spider said, it helps, but in general people will have a nice amount of protection uptime or good enough positioning in any fractal above 10 where it actually starts counting a little.

Not to mention they do more over time, if staff did all of its effect all at once it’d be ridiculous. The easy to dodge attacks like dragon fang are much more potent than a mark is.

Sure, I’m not saying that one spell or another is necessarily more powerful, I’m just trying to illustrate what I meant when I said improving our animations could be a good place to take off some power budget so it can be added somewhere else. Ideally, the Necro staff would be a fun weapon to both use and play against but it’s not perfect yet on either count.

Please dont, necros never were real spikes (and no touch necros aka touch rangers are rangers, while blood spike is kinda like our well bomb, a one off trick), just let us have good old reliable skills on at least one weapon.
Also both your examples prove nothing really since they have the identical problems as marks, can be dropped on enemy and easy to dodge if just placed to zone.

Edit: I’m just examining the animations now, and while a case could be made for chillblains (I hadn’t noticed that white-green streak before, but it is quite visible) putrid mark’s is nearly impossible to notice (hands glow black-green while casting) and I still can’t see any animation difference on the necro between mark of blood and reaper’s mark.

Blood has a bigger black effect than other marks (all make the characters hands glow and have a small black ripple on the ground on cast) so that it its not like a small light but a black fire around the hand, you know chillblains, putrid is kinda cheezy because its black ripples are white/invis like the shatter effects on a mesmer and it doesnt even show up enough unless you have like almost maxed graphical settings. Reapers has the glow placed on the actual arm not the hands.
All are exisiting effects, but not really notable in combat, but what id like to know is whats the difference between it and mesmer shatters, guardian staff 1 (seriously 60% of it is invis unless you again max out your graphics) or any asura animations in general and even more important, STAFF DOES kitten DAMAGE, from all two handers it has the weakest skill ratios, while as a condi weapon it requires a 40 point investment (ok 20 being staple for terror but still) for it not to be just a swap to staff when full of condis drop marks DS then swap back to scepter.

Iavra.8510:

Doesn’t really help when the mark is cast on your position. I’d suggest something like ele glyphs which show a unique animation at the ele’s hand while casting.

Cast time should be then dropped by at least half (and with that i mean including aftercast/card deal on table the necro does):
Blood – Blood/tear like red drop
Chillblains – toxic teal rip on a black ground or a half invisible back with spine showing
Putrid – Snake skeleton/fangs on a chalice
Reapers – Grenth or Dhuum

From a non-necro perspective, staff needs something to tell from what mark is being cast. Honestly, all 4 animations look exactly the same.

Mark of Blood makes the necros hands glow dark, Chillblains summons a white snake in the air, Putrid Mark sparkles white instead of black on the place where the mark will be placed…
I think that the Reapers mark notification is a bug with radiant gloves, but it makes their elbow to start of hand give off the ds like leather black stripes for the poker card give animation (when necro does the horisontal hand move).

THAT’s what we need; wieldable octopi !!!

No, really, all kidding aside. Think about it. Wouldn’t “wielding” living creatures be very much in-line with being a necromancer? I’m not talking familiars or summons like one would associate with mages or illusionists. I’m talking creatures that the necro actually brandishes as weapons. Think snakes, scorpions, spiders, drakes, bats, and all manner of weird, otherwordly, ghastly, or infernal creatures. Grafted, living, organic weaponry FTW !

An elite that fuses all your minions onto your character to create undead battle armor. Total geek out moment!!!

So you want to strap dead animated animals, demons and the remaining life force of other beings onto your entire body, without actually being in control of their movements (since most undead are kinda sentient) and allow them to channel your powers? That is not only going into the realm of even zhaitan and joko would laugh at the obvious flaws AND its going into places even i wouldnt go (what says a lot) with the fact that most monsters are either tentacles, balls or… wurms

It is arguable that a full condi cleanse on that kind of CD, when paired with the other condition removal that we have is too much, so I agree there. But they need to say it, or acknowledge the bug (I don’t care if its on the forums, but this needs fixing, tired of stuff like downed HP bugs screwing us for months).

We got CC (kinda mandatory heal), Deathly Swarm (slow moving swarm of angry insects), IF you pick up lich the aoe Grim Specter (not timed but projectile based null field), WoP aka worse null field, Shrouded Removal (if you dare go into DM and then not pick up staff traits) and Plague signet that is just as buggy of a (again projectile) skill as Corrupt Boon, so technically we got same amount of (on overall higher cooldowns) and even less reliable condi removal than mesmers, who love to whine about it (i dont count the signet nor the minion removals because they rely on a full bar).

The cultist (necromancer) in the Cliffside Fractal uses a hammer. The animations and manner in which he wields it are sufficiently “necro-y”. Now if we could just apply corruption to our foes…

If the curses 25 trait worked for conditions, it would be one of the best trait lines in the game as far as synergy.

Then you hit Master minor, and that raises your crit chance by 20% for 5 seconds every time you go in DS, which not only synergizes in general as it works for every kind of build, but it makes your other Curse traits better.

2 things about it, the grandmaster traits are always power dps increases, stat transitions or some sort of might application, in the case of the curse tree, its covering the lack of direct/burst hits and making hybrid builds stronger. And sadly the Furious Demise is kinda counter intuitive with either the condition playstyle or our profession mechanic (so either do direct damage for a time that is quite boosted – 110% of what it would do normally in a condi build or abbandon your profession and defensive mechanic for a possible increase in condition damage/bit stronger synergy) AND the probably most important thing unlike most master miniors it doesnt really change the condi playstyle, same problem i have with Spite and SR, in fact a lot of 2nd trait lines and 4 or 5th trait lines. Vampiric, Lingering Elements, Fast Hands, Building Momentum, Fortifying Bond, Selfless Daring, Meld with Shadows, Feline Grace, Sharper Images, etc nor is it a On HP% effect like almost every other is.

DeathShroud is now base 100% HP

in Necromancer

Posted by: Andele.1306

Andele.1306

Hi

So a few things about the latest DS changes:

  1. Death Shroud incoming damage
    • You now take the correct amount of incoming damage. Before this change (and it wasn’t always like this, either) you would takes the same damage twice.
    • Your Life Force pool is still the same as it has always been. 60% of your maximum health while alive, plus an additional 0-30% of that base value for Traits, meaning you can have a maximum of 78% of your max health.
  2. The change to having damage spill over to your health pool was indeed to resolve falling damage, but was also how Death Shroud was, from a Design standpoint, intended to function. Obviously making these changes simultaneously was to help decrease any sense of buff/nerf to the mechanic itself.
  3. Thirdly, we are testing a new way to reflect your Life Force energy pool in the UI using real-life numbers! .

Right, could we get a screenshot of the engien script for this? Because stuff was said before that turned out to be wrong, and as multiple player tests from release over halloween (when i posted about 8 screenshots of orr minions and wasps attacking in armor+stats, no armor and white/just armor, showing that toughness was kinda pointless in DS if you went over double the base) and its quite different now, before the DS change a stacked up risen abomination (or one of the icebrood champions slam attacks during claw of jormag) took DS to about 15%, now it takes it to 50%, but the damage in the chat log is still the same 10k hit (or could be that the chat log is kitten y since it doesnt show a lot of skill hits and there is no option to turn on condition dps ticks so my guess is whoever made it was in a rush and didnt bother).

Also there were only about 7 cases (5 that would be worthless unless the entire team is necro) where DS jumps were actually changing the gameplay, each that could just be done with thief/mesmer group stealth, portals or leap skills… i mean you even patched the ds jumping into the game, why remove it now?

Reanimator is a trait where you don’t know exactly what it will do, but outside of a few niche cases (epidemic necro, C&D thief, Subject Alpha), it is always helpful.

Again you need deaths to achive that, not a favourable effect for traits (im still against the virtue recharge traits and the % of stat x to stat y transition traits being minior, just as the utility specific ones) just any kind of enforcment of a build. Good examples of it done right and wrong with a simmilar effect were DKs in WoW, Blood – tanking, but a surprising amount of damage traits, turning into immortal pvp tanks, unholy, high free control and burst, but lack of resource management to sustain the line giving it a arena one hit wonder effect and worthless in pve and frost, quasi tank/dps mix focusing on resource management and keeping a optimal rotation with almost guaranteed effects based on procs said rotation gave (as in 2 diseases, Frost strike, Obli, proc HW, PS, HW, Tap, Frost, Frost, proc HW, Obli, *proc HW Reapply diseases and repeat) – ofc things changed since then (well 2 expansions worth of it), but the idea remains the same, having a efficient foundation for builds be it two one-handed weapons and dps or a two-hander and tanking, the effects of the tree had reliable strenght, while the other two were situational strenght but generally seen as either fotm or unviable for quite the time.

Rend, Soul Barbs, Soul Bind, Soul Leech

Lemme jump that bandwagon too:
Soul Barbs – Enemies apply (1 stack 10 second) Vulnerability to themself each time they attack you.
Soul Bind – When you get immobilized, crippled or chilled, remove the condition and cast cast Tainted Shackles.
Soul Leech – Hitting 3 or more targets with a single skill gives 3% life force (additional 1% pre additional enemy post 3) – e.g. Well of Blood healing yourself and 4 other people would give 3%, Well of Darkness blinding 5 enemies gives 5% life force pre pulse, works with bleeding (not torment, poison or fear).

I like your Soul Bind suggestion. It would certainly cut down on the CC we receive. I think casting Tainted Shackles every time we’re hit with immobilized, crippled or chilled might be a little OP; but that’s easily addressed with an internal cooldown. Alternately, when hit with any of those conditions, they’re transferred from us to the opponent who applied it in lieu of casting Tainted Shackles.

If those conditions are transferred every time we’re hit with them (i.e. there’s no internal cooldown on the skill/trait), then we should continue to suffer from the condition as well. Kind of a “misery loves company” scenario in which the necro and their opponent are soul bound and share the same CC conditions. Alternately, if the skill/trait has an internal cooldown, then it would function as a strict transfer; the necro loses the condition, the casting opponent gains that condition. This maintains a bit of balance; completely cleanse the condition, but endure a cooldown or afflict the casting opponent every time but continue to suffer the condition ourselves.

With the Soul Leech modification you suggest, this would be a good one to scale based on the number of targets hit (as this idea is being discussed in some other threads). Not just a linear progression of 1% Life Force per target, but an additional 1% for each target past the first. The first target grants 1% Life Force, the second would grant an additional 2%, the third would grant another 3%, etc. Hitting 3 targets would give a cumulative total of 6% (1% + 2% + 3%) Life Force rather than just 3%.

Bind would ofc have a cooldown (around 45 or 60 seconds as most such do), but the misery loves company would be also a great idea, so something like:
When you get immobilized, crippled or chilled, apply the condition onto its source (spreads via binding like Tshackles, applies 1 second of the condition, bind lasts just as long as the condition, can only transfer 1 condition pre bind – so that a enemy that can both immob and chill you only gets immobilized, you still should use cleanses, but it forces the enemy to chose the condition that they first apply, because they are gonna suffer the same fate – also target based 5~7 second cooldown – again so that multi condis and good transfer/counterplay is a option).

For life force, that was actually my initial thought, but the numbers are kinda to snowbally with wells, i mean 15% pre second, around 30~40% LF is guaranteed with a good well bomb on a location in pvp where it would be game breaking.

For once someone with a common sense. I feel like these forums are about to implode.

Again useless unless X. Everything in this game is useless w/o other things supporting it. Same as barbed precision. Useless unless I have enough crit to actual proc it in less then 5 minute window. Heal on kill is useless until I actually you know… kill something it. Glottony is useless until I do something that actually generates life force.
Death shroud is useless w/o life force. And Dps is useless if you are dead. Etc.

Wait wait, how did that make sense now if it was mentioned earlier before, merging the miniors into a major or with other majors… noone wants reanimator gone as removed from game like shade or i will revenge you or wrathful reward, just being a option for the line not a forced.
Also Gluttonly works off the profession mechanic (e.g. spectral grasp giving 17% lf instead of 15%) that are integral parts of the professions gameplay (thus the name), Reanimator isnt, as for barbed precision it works if you invest the base points into the line (reason why curses is a good line, it was made to work even if you are hybrid or condi, even if Furious demise doesnt make much sense for being a minior but better than both major traits with same type of effect).

To sum this up: I cannot face history so ill just go off topic – a-net is slow and kinda lazy in polishing up things since they have to do things on set timestamps, as proven by the fact that most necro bugs stick around for 4+ months since discovery.

Im against fun power fantasies and rollplaying and want to get loot with the least bit of effort. Also dungeons aint there to deafeat and weaken a foe in lore, they are there for us to be tactical squads that walk trough hallways with nice painings and click a lot at the same thing at the end till its no longer on screen, its not like the inquest creations or risen priests could hurt anyone – in lore.

The idea of having different types of combat was introduced but never looked upon because the devs were too lazy to make a balance between control support and damage, but instead i chose not to do either of these and just jump for the rewards.

lazor wall status online, anyone approaching will take 15k damage, will be dazed for 2 seconds, doesnt apply to trolls that turn immune to damage because of provided empowerment no matter what the personal opinion is

One note on the actual topic, the idea to make another trait for the slapsh would be cool, like said Reapers Might, that is meh not interesting as a trait.

For me personally jagged heals me for 120 damage every 2 seconds… Not defensive enough? It provides weakness. Still not enough? In masks my vulnerability with bleed and poison and weakness. Not enough? It feeds me life force.

And in the context of being in soldiers gear tanky spec if I have both barbed precision and jagged horror I will get a truck load more bleeding out of jagged horor then barbed. Still utterly pointless argument as far as im concerned and biased.

Imagine that… there are people who play with minion specs. And jaggeds provide more then any other minor trait out there combined. Keep advocating that those people should be nerfed because you want staff traits. Keep the nerf trait going.

2 little problems, it requires other traits to be that strong and its worthless during the fight, you get it after the enemy is dead.

Game Masters/Designers/Developers: We dont care if you die, we dont care at all you know? we just care about our PAX event, we dont even care if you leave the game, cause we will make this MMO a E-Sports even if most your our gamers base dont give a kitten about it. we dont even care if you are lv 1 or lv 80 cause you can join the spvp even at lv 1 and just play that mode so next year you can join us in PAX, more important without being redundant… WE DONT CARE ABOUT PVE AT ALL!!!

You know that the core playerbase of every MMORPG ever isnt the pvp, but the old GW1 players, lore nerds and the hardcore grinders, as in the money that gives the the chance to make pvp. If you want a pure pvp focused game go play a moba.
Also saying to people you dont care if they die is a very bad thing if you want the person to think your standpoint comes from any reason or logic.
They are just focusing on it now because its a peak time (people aint home, but have net, some resources can finally be spent on it sine the PVE teams are in full run and this update wasnt very heavy or interesting/rehashes of stuff in game and a new mostly copy pasted zone with a buggy race game).

As for necro defensive side, still support that we need to get this trait http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_historical_traits#Necromancer_traits – 10th down the line, back instead of FITG.

GW2 isnt a traditional MMO

In what way? That quests arent solo? They werent back in the days of text based mmorpgs. It was just easier to do it for reward systems for the 3d games
Its combat style? please so many games came out before it with a better and more action based combat system and failed.
Its lore? The one different devs and world builders are kitten ing up and is the last 1% paid attention to in the living “story”, hell the entire section about the zephyrities could have been a awesome transformation dungeon searching for the location of glints grain of sand/portal into her cave/realm, nope just text on site.
Now how is GW2 different from any mmorpg out there except in minior (but very enjoyable) quality of play/illusions of quest models?
GW2 is for MMORPGs what WiiU is for consoles, with the difference that the gap for next gen wont be a few months, but looking at previous leaps in MMO design around 2-3 years. Seriously ask anyone who know a bit of gaming history and they will all tell you its the same old but rolled up in a much more efficient/enjoyable way. Stuff like skipping flame giants in MC wasnt there because of MMO evolution, it was because WoW didnt have the engine resources to make it not a option in 3d unlike in text based scenarios.

Also tell me where devs said skipping mobs is encouraged, please, because if a actual dev (not forum mod) said so i wanna ask him to what school he/she went because it would then make no sense to add them if you said skipping is a good method to run the dungeon.

Speedrunners dont port through walls.
Tell that to 1/5 speedrun videos of Arah, CM and what you used to do in CoF.

Aggro could easily be made to never drop in dungeons if the devs wanted it. They increased the leash range a few patches back but they dont want it infinite because its silly and being forced to kill trash with poor loot drops which are easily avoided is pointless.
Trash mobs have a point, to keep you in a combat situation/your apm up without having to actually think a lot and get some additional crafting items, also infinite aggro would be a problem for first timers so its sadly not a option.

In some cases it takes more skill to skip than to kill.
You mean never because you can drop stealth.

I dont know of any situations where we stop mobs from reaching important objectives (there arent any complicated mechanics like that anyway).
CoF again and Arah if you do the Grenth Wraith trick, also what you do in the Blue man fractal

If your referring to LoSing to pull trash and group them up. People do that in loads of games, i believe they even do it in WoW. Its a valid tactic, for a bad group with poor dps it can go very badly (dredge fractal).
LoS is valid if the mob can at least use basic attacks but stops special ones

And gw2 isnt WoW so even if skipping is regarded as exploiting in that game. It isnt in gw2. The devs were asked about this ages ago and they say its a valid tactic, hence why they havent prevented it. They just made it harder by changing aggro in stealth and increasing leash ranges.
Want it or not WoW is the father/mother game of the current generation MMOs, it uses rules its previous generation – everquest – used and it used the rules of generations before it – MUDs – with improvements for the enjoyment of the playerbase.
Saying skipping in gw2 shouldnt be seen as exploitation if under its set criteria is like saying oh just because slavery was bad in Colonial American standards doesnt mean slavery would be bad in the United States. Ok the slavery is obviously worse, but in both cases you are doing stuff that shouldnt even be thought off in the first place

My comments in bold.

@Andele Yeah… wurm is not the best. But for wvw at times when we have much fewer numbers considering we always… always… have SoR with their swarm… having utility bar filled with stun breaks does wonders. I don’t really care if its not the best. It gives me a blink which is huge for me. When I need to get back to tower that has a 100 people aoe spaming the living hell out of it, a well placed wurm near entrance can give me that saving dash w/o which I would have got wrecked and never made it to the gate.

Also as necro… I find myself heavily abusing anyone who goes into lich form. Stripping 1 measly buff and nullifying any advantage that form has is very simply after thakittens just funny to watch a huge green target getting tossed around.

For wurm, i never said it wasnt useful, its good, but thakittens uses are now set since our other “escape” stun break was nerfed quite hard.

For Lich, you got 3 professions that will actively go for the stability, but its the well bomb and burst strength it gives that is important, Golem is sadly still quite fragile (unless traited) for a elite skill by comparison (for some reason both 3 elementals and the spirit have more hp, being 21k and 15k in comparison to the 9.3k).

I hope that the condition (what is probably a melancholic guy or something knowing A-nets icon creation like torment was a emo with earplugs to who someone turned on the gayphone/ipad at max sound) just stops evades, not dodge itself as a move, since its cool do a barrel roll and ignore slow effects for a bit even if you still take damage.
