Think how many long standing necro forum goes have dissapeared in last 4 months. There used to be so much interesting info on these boards. There were some epic theorycrafting discussions, bug debates, ideas, speculations, lore debates. It’s all gone. All that’s left for the most part are questions from new blood or complaints about something.
I don’t know if you’re wearing rose-tinted glasses or if you’re just making kitten up because it suits your point of view, but the necro forum has always been just a giant whinefest, even in beta. There’s about half a dozen rational posters, and that’s all there’s ever been.
Forums didnt exist in beta, first 3 necro posts were question what build to use, starting a bug list and a question does shadow fiend look to you like a black sperm too or is it just me (that i to this day cherish because it made me pay attention to the kitten minions a bit to notice how bad they are).
Lich = Epic (still dont know why they kitten out Badazz), all other arguments invalid (it would only get better if it went to BWE/demo version where 4 and 5 were mutually exclusive auras of chill/poison and fear, 3 being spawn 2 jhorros on a 4 second cooldown and spammy mark for 5? vuln stacks and on use dropping a Phylactery that made you invul till destroyed.
On another note id like to get a cosmetic item that lets me change it to the orr wraith and/or baelfire avatar only in green, black and light blue, the norn is kinda getting old.

It goes all the other way round too. If I wanted a Super Weapon Skin (for pvp), I’d have to play the SAB, which is a PVE content. And the most recent example: the PVP Jetpack, that was only obtainable via PVE…
You got jetpack from tournament and sab was hardly something that could be called “doing pve”, more like run for 5 minutes with a alt 13 times, this is dedicated kitten whoring in a pvp arena.
Because they don’t want to. We had less control in GW1, they would attack everything in a certain area that was red, and there wasn’t a thing you could do to make them change their mind except kill every, single thing that you came across. The only difference was that they were at least guaranteed to be bloodthirsty, they really never had issues with sitting around.
Also there was no in and out of combat and if a single minion died pretty much everything in a current GW2 range systems 600 range would just fall over dead from the chain reaction of nova, bile, barbs and mark of pain.
No, they reminded me how good condition builds can be. Karka have very high armor and low health. One well-timed dodge negates their only really damaging attack (the spine barrage) and a condition build will always kill them before they get to the next round.
This.
The barrage hurts like a kitten regardless. It’s not “Necros are squishy!”. That thing hurts even on a full bunker guardian.
True on barrage hurts on guardian, not true barrage hurts on someone with protection as my zerker mesmer showed me somehow taking less damage than my necro despit having 1/3 of each defensive stat.
Also its 2 dodges since the barrage lasts 6 seconds cough lack of vigor cough making it impossible to just run past a line of the annoying crabs since they also apply weakness if you even dare to move 1 inch away from them. Not that there is a problem slowly lawn-crab mowing them down 1 by 1 like some sort of demented parasitic veggies, just that it once again showed how much a-net likes mobility and that toughness is worth bugger all if you can hold protection and/or aegis over 66% of the combat time…
Fellow necros…
In general remove crap toss from main game, move it with the keg brawl out of sight and mind of the players with brains.
Btw yes it is dumb luck and not even working, got it by just catching the crab when the thrower got knocked down by the karka, but like 3 other people were still on their feet and running to punch me in the face or throw anchors at me.
There’s more than 25 achievements. You can skip it if you don’t want to do it.
Not really, its not optional if you want the 100% pve chiv completion since its part of the living story, crap lag and leg loss should just be moved to the activities achivementes section for that noone cares about just like keg brawl.
Of how Squishy we actually are vs true opponents?
2.1k damage pre spit, 6 spits pre attack chain, on 3k armor… While on my thief who i used to farm shells and blood there its evade evade stealthe into shadowstep and evade last hit when revealed…
Is there anyway to vote the years ANet worker? I want Jon Peters to get a reward from his work as he is the only one who makes me belief that the community is being listened.
Hope that you know that he is also the person that said the 3 forbidden lines of Necromancers of GW2, kinda causing a massive backlash that then feared away other devs (funny how our fears on devs work better than against other players).
Hehe I know you were bringing it up for good measure and fun but I’ll bite the bait. Plague seems so good for some peoples, yet everytime a necro tries it against me I just Spinal chiver, Corrupt boon or WoC his stability and off he goes with double-triple fear and all my group hits him from range. Necro can’t survive 20 sec in plague against 5 people who knows how to easily counter this, so even less against 15-20. And Plague AoE only hit up to 5 peoples anyway so zerg wins once again
Of course it can happens as WvW is full of players that doesn’t know how X professions works, but once they catch the trick, Plague doesn’t hold up as a survival tool vs other professions’ toolbox ( or toolkit ).
Hooking in the catch.
Well of power + Plague still quads your survival stats, a zerker warrior who isnt blinded all the time maybe gets up to 10k with a full 100b on soldier/any tough vit high necro in plague. But either way you shouldnt jump into a zerg as a necro in plague despite it being one of the best tanking skills in game since you are way better off dropping damage from walls and picking up free loot bags.
Epic that its getting looked at, but could we get any hints to when minion pathfinding, Life siphoning, death shroud major and death magic minior traits might get maybe a look at with a telescope?
Yes i am a cynical and unthankful kitten, but it are still issues that shouldnt be overlooked just because we got some love/fix.
Putrid Mark and Reapers Mark + weapon that gives most damage to Life blast. You really dont need to think past that to see the devs pretty much set up necro skills with staff in mind (and 100% LF with 30 in SR).
Video against 15-20 peoples or it never existed
Just jump into a zerg with chill traited WoD and Plague… you hold up to 30 seconds with marks into DS timing then instantly die.
I can honestly say without a doubt their isnt any other profession other then my necromancer that can tank better. I have taken an assault in wvw against 12-20 enemy players and held for at least 15 seconds. I dont think there is any other profession without stealth or invunerability that can do that. I also took the assault head on.
A) there not their
B) The way of TANKING doesnt matter, both mesmers and engies get higher survivability via aegis reapplication, block and invul.
Overall on topic i made a post how to improve the numbers/make scailing of siphoning. Overall right now its lackluster for what you are giving up unless you are already in Blood magic for other reasons (well cd and/or transfusion). The one true siphoning skill that is worth it is actual dagger life siphon since it has a 100% power ratio and a 5% gealing power ratio being a true siphon skill that way (damage increases heal, heal increases damage.

Hybrids are condition builds that pick gear in a way so they can deal a lot of direct damage as well. A condi/power-mix if you will…
The big commotion you’ve heard is probably coming from Nemesis: “ultimate damage hybrid”, it’s in the stickied “Necromancer Tutorials” thread.
Although it’s not the only hybrid build out there, the term “hybrid” in this context probably originated from the titel of his build.
Well no hybrids came from the Dota/Lol/WoW builds that allowed for double or triple dipping into stat/trait combinations without crippling the efficiency of the character/class/profession. In the case of Necros something like the overall stats whoring (nemesis’s nice scepter and axe combo) to overcome our damage for utility trade or going a all out glass cannon like my current damage build.
All aoes in game are on a 5 person limit.
My only real issue with DS is that the traits/effects are still held bipolar to the old DS standards as in either full time transformation or a quick dip (attunement change for ele) in to get terror/interrupt/3bleeds and some shot rime boons.
Like it wants the necro to be in it for most of the fight but punishes you if you go under 50% for no real reason, it might aswell instakick you from DS when LF falls under 50%. No trait that removes life blast damage drop, the SR 25 trait still working by its original (and better) effect increasing power with every 10% LF instead of being a arbitrary damage frop if you go under 50% life force, Underwater skills being the coni necro shroud that they should be able to swap in for, etc.
Great mechanic and idea, medicore execution, kinda like warrior bursts.
We can make exploding minions out of bone or hulking masses of immovable flesh, but gills are way beyond us.
They’re dead. Why would they need gills?
Well thats obviously because… Uhhh, look boobs to the right and burly beef man and/or cats to the left!
*necro here but i do love my charrior alt*
Isnt sword kinda the hybrid weapon for warriors? It has higher base damage than condi weapons, has a "spike" at the end of the attack chain and the burst skill is there for a good immobilize (since as condi/normal attack you get slapped in the face by retaliation).
Then again i only pvp for derpz with my warrior: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAsXTjcOJvNPGPMxBgLDqWSzwu7SKEDNA-ToAg1CsIyRFkLITOSds6MKYJC - with this build...
For how long are they gonna be on the Gem Store? It says limited time only but there is no timer like on the other limited time only items in it…
I’m willing to say that Mesmers, Thieves, and Necromancers have the tools to be OP. It simply depends on the skillcap of each class as to how far you can make them OP. Necromancer has an incredibly high learning curve to become truly OP, often requiring inhuman skill to reach it. Mesmers and Thieves are easier to come close to that OP margin. They have all of the tools to dominate everyone.
I said this once before, Necros dont really have a learning curve, its a nice meadow (utility skills all got high base strength and wells got viable damage, minion bombing solos pve to level 60) that then hits a vertical mountain when it comes to cooldown rotations/ds use.
Thieves got the “op” potential if you get 15 points into Trickery (i think thats the last trait tree with the +3 initiative, correct me if im wrong since im too lazy to look it up) because its like giving necros 5 seconds off every cooldown each time we go into ds, opening up so many crazy things. Mesmers plain are on the border of op anyway (distortion, temporal, phase retreat/aka 3/4 of a stunbreak on a weapon and Blurred frenzy), but their specializations are easy to swap into a crippling overspecialization unless they run mantras.
A) Replace Bone minions with Chicken (Jhorrors already use the rat model)
B) RISEN FREAKING SHARK UNDERWATER!
If the dungeon gave you the jetpack each time you soloed the bosses, by now id have 10 for each of my characters…
Which is a good thing. You’ve mastered the temporary dungeon ANET has released and you shall be rewarded by recieving the jetpack or minipet. You earned it through effort, not luck.
No just with more recipies of random stuff (and around 5 of the tonic ones). Still the kitten bosses never really got old for me, not after 20, not after 50, not at around the 100ish runs i went trough (stopped counting on 70).
The game doesn’t care if I’m good at something, luck is the only thing that counts.
This is the problem i have. It doesn’t take into account how well the group performed in the dungeon. Did the group do the dungeon without wiping? Did anyone die? Did the group finish the dungeon at a decent time?
I’ve been around long enough to know what RNG is about, so i guess i can’t really complain. It is what it is, i just wish people were rewarded by their skill, not luck.
If the dungeon gave you the jetpack each time you soloed the bosses, by now id have 10 for each of my characters…
Just check the GW2.dat file…
The colour of the wraith mask eyes depends on your eye colour i believe. My necro has bright green eyes so the wraith mask looks almost white.
Always just white, it places 2 circles between the eye model and the actual head and adds a overlay texture between eyes and tattos/effects.
It isn’t mentioned anywhere because it’s plane wrong.
Life blasting with this build is a huge waste of time and life force.
The only time I will ever use life blast is when I have to stay in DS and all other skills are on cool down.
You know life blast does double the damage Ngrasp in the same time if you are over 400~ range…
And again Necro condi damage spect without rabid = fail. With crits you got 2 additional bleeds, weakness and you yourself are protected from it making you way less ignorable.
Carrion is for a fill in with rampager or as a secondary condition caster (as in chill cripple weaken blind bot).
One problem, Staff on itself is not even a weapon, its a extension of the necro utility bar and as a weapon has to be used with life blast/ds (since it gives it the strongest base damage/direct boost to scailing). That isnt mentioned anywhere on the entire post.
Also runes of undead + Carrion amulet in pvp = fail.
Necro life siphon sucks, we can all agree on that right?
So i have been pondering a bit when jumping around between my tanky control staff & Dagger/WH build and Glassy rampager setup and in most cases what would work for one build wouldnt work for the other, so here is something that came up that could work for both.
Vampiric/Siphon in general – True damage (not increased % boosts and ignores armor), cannot proc more than 25 times pre second, gives life for 2/3 of the damage delt, its damage doesnt trigger retaliation (normal hit still does), doesnt trigger on crits
(0.071 * Power) and (0.045 * Healing Power) ratios that play off eachother, increasing the siphon you will gain directly with each stat (as in you get 7% of the healing power as a free damage additionand increasing power gives 5% of it as healing)
Traits
Bloodlust (turns 2/3 of siphon to 1/3 ratio and increases healing power scailing to 0.11) – benefits healing power based builds, removes “op” potential by clerics gear triple dipping into it having potential to outheal conditions and retaliation
Vampiric Precision (critical hits siphon for (0.063 * Precision) 1:1 health gain to damage delt) – allows for siphon for crit users (rabid, knight, rampager and zerker) without having to go more than 10 points into the blood magic tree on a good ratio.
Vampiric Rituals (Wells siphon for 200 damage pre tick healing for half the value, increasing the amount siphoned by 4% enemy in well; 208 damage 104 heal on 1,. 240 damage 120 heal if 5 people in well, nearby allies in wells also benefit from siphon healing) – support like aoe healing, rewards good well placement with better damage, isnt limited to build.
Second grandmaster blood trait (and fuse kitten fetrid consumption with Necromantic corrption, swap rituals of protection with vampiric minion master) – Nearby allies (900 range) get healed (40 + 0.01 * Healing power) each time the necromancer siphons health (doesnt affect necromancer, but does minions)
Non trait line related:
Life siphon (Same as current, but damage/siphon ignores armor) – it does have lower net damage than all other 9 tick attacks
Signet of the Locust, no time, stun break, Active: Surround yourself in a protective cloud of locusts that siphon 10% of enemy damage for 10 seconds (gain 10% of enemy damage delt as healing before armor and % reduction effects, 10% damage reduction).
Active wasnt that useful either way (despite 1:1 healing power ratio, being locked/not a ground targeted aoe and doing virtually no damage even with max power), so making it a defensive skill that forces a choice between small mobility and defensive play, also allowing enemy players to use the time to kite/giving counter play with the movement speed downtime.

Please fix the strafe bug that makes each shockwave hit 4-12 times or at least give it a hit on single person in second limit, its kinda annoying for a 30k hp 2.5k armor necro get instakilled by a normal shockwave just because he strafed back.
Ever since the last patch, ui has been bugging out (party members not updating), dungeon instances splitting (having to use home instance trick to join the part instance) and if getting to the dungeon enterance it not teleporting the player into the dungeon.
A-net fix it.
I was fighting your team.
I was embarrassed.
I heard how your coach was coaching.
I was more embarrassed.
Imagine that, but instead of fighting giving gold for the prize pool to make a GW1 pvp reference that noone understood…
I can do 50 runs easily so it’s not a win win. You got the gloves for the event so you can be happy you got at least something for your hard work doing it. Let the jetpack be how it is and stop fighting about it. The event is almost over with anyways. So there is no use in doing it.
For those that dont speak twatkitten: I got the jetpack and dont want other people to get it so removing chance from the run instead making it based on commitment or skill will make me worthless because i cant be a special little snowflake.
Undeath is already good, i only wish it would work in DS and outside of Combat.
It is believed to be 60% (untraited) of your HP, up to 78% (with 30 SR).
77%, last tick of DS doesnt actually work as hp but a hard cap on damage you can take while in it.
The most frustrating part of the 5 second DS trait is how “On entering / leaving Death Shroud” traits are very likely balanced around you taking those 30 points in Soul Reaping. Deathly Invigoration is the best example, but Spiteful Spirit and Furious Demise are worth mentioning as well.
Remember they used to be permanent effects while in DS and DS being another form instead of jump in while over 50 life force for a second or 2 then pop out/tank a massive hit.
With Broham being tied to the norn, i dont think he will be there for the consortium, but Rox asking to be in Rytlock MAN-MODE Brimstones warband, she will probably show up in the next few stories.
51 runs and no one in my party any of the time has gotten a mini nor a jetpack o.O
I’m really starting to wonder if the drop rate got bugged.
Gotten the morph recipe twice though : /
I was thinking the same thing. I did about 40 runs. I know alot of people got them around the first day. Then nobody after that. Its like they had a quota of drops and they hit it in the first day and then no more drops. Not that I care, I don’t want the jetpack and minis don’t really appeal to me either.
This is what I’ve been wondering about for a while with events like this – does anet use a rate of entry system or just go by the RNG pure? If anyone’s seen a dev comment on this and could link it, that would be great!
Its kitten rng, shown by the fact that i finally got at least the mini at like the 49th or 50th run.
This whole dungeon could have been made permanently with a token system to reward those weapons.
That doesn’t make any sense. It’s a special event, an ongoing story that’s coming to an end shortly so that another part can begin.
We end up destroying the place. We blow it up. Ka-boom! Dungeon go bye-bye.
But why do that when they can make a couple million dollars on keys with a 1 in ~500 chest drop rate?
Yeah. How dare Anet try to make a profit with their game in a completely optional cosmetic way?
Nice straw man. I never said anything about Anet making money but you can’t tell me that they aren’t making enough and NEED to make things both limited and RNG from BLC. That’s ridiculous. That means that no matter how hard anybody tries they may never see a reward simply because of horrible RNG luck.
Not to mention that they are fine selling the Rox and Broham weapons that are technically higher quality then the jetpack and mini.
Players who’s opinions I would definately respect are Kravick, nemesis, oblivion, and obviously anything Bas says is amazing.
I fixed it for you :P. It looks much better this way.
Pfft minions. That is all. :>
Dont forget his love for Axe Mastery, a trait that gives a 15% damage boost on a medicore weapon that is used for damage for 1/4 of his arsenal instead of the execution trait that works on his entire non condi kit and his main food being the Bowl of Fire Salsa, X3
(for bhawb who refuses to see when i try to make a joke, yes this post was ment to be a joke)
uh you can jump over the shockwaves, also you can just evade
:|
Just wanted to mention since lich form jumps are dodgy and you tend to strafe in it on the fight.
Dont strafe with lich form to the left/right away from the shockwaves, it will register 4-8 hits pre wave pretty much instakilling everyone who doesnt go tank.
Soldier on necro is mostly for tank/melee heavy support setups (some picking up sentinel armor now what i personally see as a bit of a waste, but still good) as a damage dealer take Asciis setup (but swap 1 toughness and 1 precision on ring/earring so that you dont have to use the omni infusions).
You can have 1 offensive infused ring and 1 offensive uninfused ring.
Why bother when you can have everything infused…
Because +5 Agony Resistance is the only difference between infused and uninfused rings were as the price between offensive and omni-infusions is quite big.
You can still get the same setup of infusions as you suggested only as i mentioned it should be swapped like this:
Cavaliers Earring (Toughness Infusion)
Cavaliers Earring (Precision Infusion)
Cavaliers Ring (Toughness Infusion)
Cavaliers Ring (Precision Infusion)
So that he can have each of them ascended and then infused with their respective infusion option. Also not waste ton of optional AR.
One note, some mobs actually have damage that even 3 level higher mobs cannot dish out nightmare court and underwater risen being prime examples, on a brighter note just minion spamming can pretty much solo all content to 60.
For gear getting zerkers while using axe focus; soldier or knight while dagger/warhorn; carrion staff and last but not least rabid or rampagers if your main weapon setu kitten cepter/dagger will fit the playstyle or at least force adaptation into how you should use the weapons (aka not bombrush in as a condi and kite instead, not spam marks like kitten abuse range swaps, etc).
Lol, half your chat box was him :P
Half? You insult me, it was at least 70%!

I liken it to dodge-jumping. Something that was probably a bug, but they have since accepted. There are a lot of games that end up accepting bugs and keeping them as part of the game (hell, I played a game that was successful only for its bugs).
Wow, just made some research about dodge-jumping because even after 800 hours in the game (and even more on the forum) I’ve never heard about it.
I can’t really say I’m for those kinds of thing. Timing two buttons at the same time, in a game where no macro is allowed, seems fishy to me. And trust me, I come from games where you had plenty more skills to activate at the same time and as everyone macroed you had to too, to even be able to compete. Yet in this game, those small… bugs I guess, does gives you an advantage, (jumping farther in combat is huge) it’s not only for a “beautiful dodge roll in the air” look.
What this does is create a gap between people who knows the “tricks” and people who don’t. If it’s allowed by Anet, give me an action in my keymapping called Dodge Jump that says you can now jump farther, or even better, make Evade a dodge jump by default
Technically dodge-jump doesnt give you more dodge (evasion window is the same), and the jump increase doesnt even happen if you have more than a 5% movementspeed boost, as in most of the time you get no benefit except the fancy animation.
Transformation and ranged stomps and rez allow for abuse of lag and/or no ticked distance check on the stomp and rez mechanics to get a benefit in a action that is supposed to be used when you are safe to finish off a downed player instead of sticking in longer combat to defeat them with damage, but being on the safer side in terms of someone showing up.
Not really against them, just i really dont like bug turned into feature if it has a impact on the gameplay. e.g. making protective spirit in the original gw let damage taken be reduced to under 1 making BiP necros immune to physical damage and immune to everything if combined with a good frontline and cast control
Funny glitches like air flips, kitten mounted rocket bears, stag-onstag-onstag-onstag-onstag-onstag-onstag mounts sadly fixed in wow, being able to turn into a 20 foot high green glowing quaggain cough casting lich and popping spectral skill+tonic that sadly got fixed or a giant pet t-rex the size of half a main city are fun, things like instakill on exiting DS, Transformation skills instantly dropped on cooldown if interrupted during cast, a debuff from a dungeon that kills everything it touches and spreads faster than a STD on a orgy and lag abuse are not good bugs even if it takes skill to time.
Pretty sure chill already affects initiative recharge rate. If that’s true, there absolutely no need for this.
No it doesnt, in fact i can laugh at the stupid corrupt brood in frostgorge on my thief since they let me do more hits with my leaps/mobility skills since they proc more hits, just like on warriors and mesmers.
they can mist form once every 50-60s (thats a complete guess I dont play ele) and we can shroud stomp every 10s. I love to shroud stomp. I think becase out cooldown is significantly less than the ele’s even though it can be countered by another necro,, our stomp is better.
You know that ShourdRez (being the one i use from time to time in pve and Stomp) should technically count as exploits since you are using igl to get the effect… It was like saying its ok, you can fight bow rangers with a necro since necrotic grasp was bugged and went for 1400 range instead of 1200 and with greater marks you got them hitting covered too (valid for now, but there is a chance it will get fixed).
