here’s a concept.

for an F2 key, (otherwise known as the 5th DS)
Consume Souls
Convert remaining life force into health.
I’m not sure where the scaling would be to make this balanced…
let’s say it converts at 0.5%.
so a full life force bar would be half of your total health.

Naturally i haven’t put a lot of thought into this.

I hope that you know you just turned me night immortal or anyone who gets soul marks and runs with dagger/warhorn for that matter unless it has a 60 second cooldown and is on a flat instead of % of hp ratio.

A) despite me understanding the hate against axe (as every necro should except for Feast), but Axe/Axe and Axe/Dagger are still strong combinations on ranger

B) effortless, yes, good for positioning and efficient if you aint going for tank, no.

All i wish is to chose the color tone of gear particle effects *e.g. blue light on Crossing, Green flames on CoF and pink lava from gauntlets* for them to be awesome, till then ill keep the npc spawn item.

Well we do not have access to stability except in grandmaster soul reaping trait. (Who the hell even gets that for only 3 seconds worth of stability in exchange for 30 trait points?)

Necros have pretty effortless high chill uptime, other classes need to stretch for it.

As does staff ele (having 3 finishers by swap into earth-more conditions for 10+ easy chill) and axe ranger (with axe mainhand for 6 chances to chill the instant its set up), aka the only real chill fields in game despite the fact that necro should have them instead of some of the 100000 dark and poison fields *cough chillblains*.

“Little suggestion” for the madness thing (if a new condi has to be implemented), change it from mind control/ui screwup (everyone hates those) to just allow friendly fire pve (just able to hit allies not themself) and for pve force mobs allies and themself with their skills too.

You can get Necro, Warrior (stabby stabby got mobility and control already), Mesmer and Ranger as you said.

Its pressure, it forces lower use of aoe (that kinda dominate because they do about the same damage as single target skills), punishes no coordination and works ok in pve.

Consistency’s sake. No one else can use their utilities, and a significant use of minions is them attacking while alive. Same reason they shouldn’t go on CD, because no one else’s utilities do.

DA standpoint here:
Kind of a difference is you aint using your utilities, you have them ready, like mesmer mantras ranger spirits, engie turrets, etc, their true strength is is the secondary active despite the first cast giving a benefit, its to compensate for the reliablity to have it active on a secondary/primary function.

Also on that note said units also go away on moa and they shouldnt.

Minions staying alive makes Moa a laughably useless elite. Oh no, you took away a little of my damage for a few seconds, whatever will I do?

I agree with Nay, they should die, but when I’m out of Moa they should be up to summon again.

Just for note, moa is not just a small damage drop, its 10 seconds of enemy being useless button (especially if mesmer catches you in DS causing the Shroud Moa (who cannot exit DS and only can use the first 4 skills making the necro a sitting duck).
It shouldnt overwrite transformations (nor DS) and just despawn minions, no cd*

Paying customers my kitten the only way you could have a say to complain about new implementations is if you spent 6k+ of your local currency on gems, all you paid for is a working enjoyable playable game, we mostly got it, now be happy that they are pushing out free patches pre month before is slap you with my undead rodents kitten that i refuse to summon and even if i do for some reason, i force him to suicide 3 seconds later.

No but there is a reddit post about a guy who spent that much, i think only got gems once instead of using the gold to gem trade on the mad king outfit.
Also its not trolling but actual fact, check out your local trade laws, but in general the only thing you are entitled to is the working (a actual game you can play), supported (bug fixes), fit for use (works on all comps its said to without tech difficulty for the consumer) and finished product. Every patch with additional content is as if you sat in a coffee shop and every half a hour a waitress brings you a free desert just because you got eggs, bacon, sandwitch and a hot beverage.

The weapons and cooldown changes alone would turn me into an undefeatable beast.
Add the trait changes and you can wipe out a 20-man-zerg by yourself xD

Btw Corrupt Boon (I think epidemic too) can be cast if you’re facing away from your opponent.

You can already do that, 10 into dm, 20 into curses and slap those marks wells from a wall up high.
And wow, they rolled the set view cast back, I remember that on one of the nerfs you couldnt have your back towards the boof filled beefy norn man throwing blue swively waves to CB him, sorry didnt check it since i last used conditions.

Also Imagine WHing 5 enemies into the satanic pits of hell, aka down ledges.

Ofc all this is a crack fantasy wishlist that will probably never happen (sad thing is except for the beta shade thing and the strength of undeath, all of the changes are either based on ele weapon damage or ele traits).

Spite
Parasitic Bond: Gain Health when a enemy or ally die within 1500 range, 10 second cooldown.
Death into Life: Gain 5% of Power as Vitality
Siphoned Power: Gain Might for 5 seconds each time a condition is applied to you under 50% health.
Signet Mastery: Signets Recharge 20% faster and activating signets gives 4 stacks of Might for 10 seconds.
Spiteful Marks: Marks do 10% more damage and cannot be Blocked
Axe Training – Moved to Master (replacing Signet Power)
“New” Major Grandmaster – Strength of Undeath: You and nearby Allies gain 40 additional power for every 10% life force missing (effect buff like guardians strength in numbers).

Curses
Barbed Precision: Critical Hits cause 3 seconds of bleeding (duration isnt increased by condi duration)
Furious Demise(minior master) and Terror Swapping(major master VI) places
Master of Terror replacing Spectral Attunement in curses.
Banshee’s Veil – Warhorn Recharges 20% faster and last longer.
Lingering Curses – Increased Base condition duration by 33% (possible 133% cond dur on all conditions not just scepter)

Death Magic

Well of Power – 1804 damage

Epidemic and Corrupt Boon – unblockable, 1200 range, can be cast while back turned towards target as long as not out of LoS, 25 second recharge~

Spectral Grasp – projectile turned to forced port to within 300 range infront of caster via chill claws
Spectral Armor – 60 second recharge, 9 second duration on both protection and effect, 12 if traited
Spectral Wall->Spectral Veil, dome around user, projectile destruction, protection on exiting dome and vuln to enemies that enter it, instant pbaoe

Signet of Spite:
passive bonus; 70 power, 70 condition damage and 10% condition duration
active – apply 5 stacks of bleeding, 1 stack of confusion, 1 stack of vulnearability, poison, weakness, cripple and blind for 8 seconds on target enemy and enemies within a 180 radius around him.
Signet of the Locust:
Plain 1400 siphon form 1 enemy, instant
Plague Signet:
passive bonus; pull 3 conditions from each nearby ally once pre 3 seconds (each ally has own timer)

Shadow Fiend – Haunt – Enrage your shade turning it into a Aatxes that charges a zone (plain 3/4 daze for enemy hit) for 3 seconds before exploding and blinding in target area

I felt in kitten need of complaining so i randomy made another one of my lists while eating dinner:

Weapons:

DS
Life Blast – Blast a foe with Life Force, transfering one damaging condition to them dealing more damage the more life force you have.
555 damage on and under 25% life force, 655 between 25 and 75%, 755 while on and above 75% life force, 1200 range 3/4 cast time
Dark Path (2 options, staying as is but fixing tooltip to show actual 1100 range or 900 range ground targeted aoe), Chill, Poison and Bleed Foes hit, leave behind Ice field at starting location.
Random skill 3 to be implemented with “dark dot” or whatever
Doom – 120 radius aoe fear around target, 392 power damage
Life transfer – Heals owner for 292 while in DS

Staff
Necrotic Grasp
100% Finisher 1400 range
Mark of Blood – 368 damage (from 213)
Chillblains – 410 damage (from 355), 15 second recharge
Putrid Mark – 20 second recharge~
Reapers Mark – 213 damage (from 177)
all on a 0.4 power ratio

Axe

Warhorn
Wail of Doom – Screech a wail of doom in a cone fearing foes for 3/4 seconds (to 1.25 if traited), no cast time

Scepter

“Bugs”:
Aoe indicators on 1100+ range might kitten up (can fix it to 1700 by reducing var.2yOffset = -15 to -5)

Talking to npcs/Using objects might troll you because the comp thinks you clikced the overlay (fix by increasing var.wait = 30 ms to 45+)

Ofc scrip will continue if you alt tab/close gw2 so you might see the skull and/or the blue cursor somewhere stuck on screen, if you do please click stop in glovePIE.

Dagger 2&4/Focus 4&5 Misfiring way too often

Something about Dagger 4: the last time I checked in PvP, it removes 3 conditions on the first bounce, then gives those conditions to everyone it hits. But in PvE (and probably WvW) it transfers 1 condition to every target it hits, requiring 2 bounces / 3 targets before it removes 3 conditions from the player.

What people are seeing may not be related to that, but it’s a bit of strange behavior I thought you might like to know.

As for the others, I know that if you’re directly on top of your target, it’s very easy for them to either flank you enough that they’re out of the attack zone, or even move directly behind you: you may just be getting counterplayed.

I think the bigger problem is that the swarm of Fly?black dots takes about as long as a spectral grasp to land, as in you could go afk, make tea, have a nap, make all of the known world wonders from lego that get destroyed in movies, sit back in you chair just to see the projectile land/miss 1 cm away from the enemy.
Dagger 2 has the problem of being a fixed beam channel (unlike life transfer) and Focus 5 has the same invis projectile thing with CB and Epidemic going on.

A) life force doesnt degenerate outside of DS usage and the only weapon without ok LF generation is scepter.
B) no minions regen, so talking about that is like complaining about the pathing, wishing for pigs to fly or to make that idiot boss who likes heads up his kitten give you a raise without losing your standards.

Don’t get what this post is saying. I said if I wanted to get more tanky. You would never build a whole set with this obviously, but maybe snag a couple pieces out from your Rabid if the Necro didn’t feel survivable enough where he was at.

Because Vitality is the main stat, you would need to use less pieces of this vs Knight, Soldier or Carrion to achieve the same survivability gain.

I would take pieces of this over Soldier’s as a conditionmancer, where power does the least for us

Condi necro =/= tanky support necro, either way Soldier is better because it holds to the 1:1 ratio of toughness and vit that gives necros more effective hp while not giving up that much damage.

Sentinel Gear for Necro

I would take pieces of this over Soldier’s as a conditionmancer, where power does the least for us, if I wanted to get a bit more tanky. Vitality is probably the best stat in the game for Necros. Due to that we get 1.6X its worth counting DS, and that we can’t go invulnerable, can’t stealth, don’t have blocks, and are not very deceptive. Facetank is how we primarily defend ourselves and you need health for that.

And Carrion nor Rabid exist so you must take defensive stats and lose out on 80% damage you could do as a coni necro.

Fleshwurm, and "OMG WHAT MOUNTAIN"

There are 3 types of “porting” in game, first is the obvious actual portal that has point a and point b, moving target from one to the other (Swalk, waypoints on shor distances, mesmer portal, keep/wvwvw doors, etc), Shadowsteps that move the character the set distance in a almost instant effect if they can run there (dark path, 99% of thief teleports) and the good old blink (mesmer phase retreat, guardian blink utilites and our dear wurm) that are a combination of both, trying to move you a set distance first ignoring all collision, but then if something actually doesnt let you move it either sticking you to the wall or glitching you into limbo/a small rock or other microscopic to medium sided object you cant jump or move out of/over invisible walls into places the game clearly shouldnt let people be in (e.g. the keep tqtl likes to faceplant into)

I’m actually debating this for a tanky build over Soldier’s.

Anyone know whether damage calculations are based off of the 916 base stats (With an additional 916 Power being ~100% additional damage), or whether abilities actually scale via ratios (Ie, for every point in Power, you gain .X damage in ability Y)?

Swapping to Sentinel from Soldier gives approximately 910 more HP while losing 91 Power. Assuming Power does not scale via ratios, but off of the base stats, that’s approximately a 10% damage drop from Power primary to Power secondary. Is that worth an additional 910 Health, which (Presumably) double-dips back into Death Shroud at a slightly lower rate, given that our base damage is relatively poor as it is?

All 3 stats provided dont do much on their own, toughness seems to be worth like 33% of its value in DS, Vit goes 60% to DS and power is on its own ratios in addition to attack based on weapons (not really worth the special investment on scepter and untraited axe, worth it on traited axe, focus, staff and dagger). Honestly id stick to soldier since it at least lets you deal some good damage, Sentinel doesnt seem to do anything for any profession/build.

Minior boss and trap room problem

I used my dodge roll for that reason during the trap room boss, or just circled the core when the tornados popped up. The end boss was fine though, I was able to jump over everything consistently.

Im fine too (and ofc dodge the empowered fire instakill shockwave, well at least i think its instakill since it killed everyone who i ever saw getting hit by it, have to test it with my 30k necro later on), just that some of the annoying small shockwave animations tend to interrupt my healing by hitting despite me jumping over the sodding things and sometimes even after the animation runs out (its actual ranges being around 300 more than where the animation ends), i got used to it, but still graphics being desynch seems to be the problem why 40% of every pug i enter to farm the flaming french rats seems to randomly die forcing a 3 man on the wonder twins that liked watching DBZ a bit too much on their kom-pew-ter.

Not trying to complain since the dungeon is nice, but i noticed that some of the shockwaves dont synch with the actuall hit+ministun or even just kitten you mid jump despite clearly being above the animation (thank god that they only hit like a morning cereal thrown in your face by that annoying friend/brother/sister).

Boy I hope that 600 range idea isn’t accurate. It makes it worse than dagger 3.

No its actual projectile goes for the full 1200 (well actually a bit more since it always thinks you are at a highground unless you are shooting it from the depths of the underworld), its just you can only actually use it in a good way if cased from 600~ range.

Its tooltip is "wrong", its 600 range (at least thats max you should use it at), and its also a "knockdown" (well the stopped pull effect causes one most of the time) or plain LF generation, great almost melee cc on bosses if you use dagger, need LF but cant get quite in there (and great to follow up with Dark Path>Life Transfer).
Also never bother to use it on targets that you cant life siphon in terms of dagger use).

I’m fairly certain that avoiding by juking or swerving is completely intentional. There are at least two types of missile attacks. One is the "dumb" missile that never changes directions once you fire it. The other is the "smart" missile (for example, DS1) that homes in on your target.

There is a difference between homing attacks that do a 260 turn when you dodge/teleport before they would go in your face and then still hit you *cough rifle attacks, most mob and ele projectiles* and a ranged projectile that derps just because you moved 3 steps to the right after going left and then stopped when it started to fly.

BTW, I am very disappointed that Transfusion (Life Transfer healing) still won’t scale with healing power and still won’t be able to heal yourself though DS.

I am also very disappointed that the regen from Mark of Blood cannot heal me when I am in DS.

In layman’s terms, DS is a “self inflicted counter” to Transfusion and Mark of Blood.

All these contradictions and “self inflicted counters” of necro skills really need to be looked at.

I agree somewhat. I want to be able to receive healing while in Death Shroud sort of badly, although I recognize that letting people use their heal skill while in there could be too strong.

Although I thought Transfusion did scale with healing power, just not very well.

Transfusion scales with the % additional life force life transfer generates (going from 290 to 310 with full soldiers gear, as in useless unless you got 30 into SR and at least minior vit in all of your gear for as much of a change as vampiric would do if you would add just 5 points more into blood). Still imo a mandatory trait for every power necro since it gives the party what a ele/guardian dodge do every 32-40 seconds (and thats a lot in necro terms)), also small bit of self heal helps.

Atm this is only Signet that is effective in team tpvp (must have), buffing this signet will be OP.

Powering the passive will not make it OP.

You cannot seperate passive and active signet effect, because it is one skill! It is the same to seperate DS as Extra HP and skills that you can use, then say that DS is to short and we need a buff.

Actually till we get a signet passives work despite it being on cooldown trait, you can think of the passive as its own 15 point minior trait, in that sense they are weak, but not behind design but execution (undeath doesnt work outside of combat when you would actually like the lf generation, plague is weird in transfer style being on 3 second check and only 1 condition, spite passive can be used but as a whole is terrible so it doesnt count and locust is the generic, but good 25% ms boost with medicore at best active thats not worth using since the movement speed is pretty much always better).

Realistic- Signet of spite helping guys leveling and still being useless at 80 (being half a piece of gear at that level instead of one of our epic utility slots), the slot 5 because of ocd, Corruption skill fixes, minions being better at killing kitten while leveling while still useless in dungeons and pvp because of pathing.
Idealistic – Shade making a return, minions working right, Spectral skills being worth as its own build instead of a one trick pony, Better lich form 3 and 5, Marks being 33% bigger by default, Death magic being useable by non-MMs without wasing points, tweaks to cast times, DS 1 being usable by condition users and not a 4 shot thing for power users, rework on life siphoning being efficient for tanks and a ok way of survival for glass cannons because of low mobility, etc.

I died a little bit inside when I saw what we had According to that post ha would be very over powered though I think. DS would turn us into an unstoppable face plunger.

Well remember, Thieves has immobilize on basic crits, eles a stun every 6? (or seconds and a 600 range aoe healing auto attack on a 1/4 cast time, 100 blades with 4 seconds recharge and guardians that apply Aegis, Protection, Regeneration, Vigor and Might in a aoe every 3 seconds just by standing around… (ok, points 2 and 4 still are kinda true but now at least require utility slots and traits)
Still i do think Shade should make a return as the GM SR trait as a lot of cool ideas from beta thus actually making 30 into x or y line worth something for build definition (kinda like ingering curses for condi scepter builds making 133% cod duration possible, the mesmer self shatter effect, venom sharing, etc).

And LoL current matching system is pretty consistent. At most, you will be facing people one “rank” away. So diamond will at worst be placed into high platinum, bronze will never face higher than silver, etc. They have even split team queueing, solo/duo, and ranked/normals with different MMRs.

The example was from my last nights rank up game in gold, so unless it was a duo que that didnt wanna say anything, yeah no the matchmaking is still broken as all hell (but thats most elo based matchmaking setups that take into account win streaks and wanna get people into games as fast as possible cough dota 2). It did go from 3/5 games not being even to 1/5, but my point still stands, as long as GW2 profession balance isnt as broken as that, you can play it no matter your profession if the build you are using makes sense.

Think of it this way; League of Legends has an estimated 12 million people online every day. It has been out for over 3 years, has a very active international competitive scene with people that literally do nothing but play LoL as their job. And yet with so much money in their game, so much time, and so many people playing, nearly every week there are at least small tweaks to balance.

I ment it as a joke because in the 3 (well 4) years League existed, the way the matchmaking sets up teams is so broken that Vanilla WoW could have been considered balanced in comparison because setting up a low diamond player with 2 silver, a copper and you in gold is just as broken as ret bomb, rogue tea instagibbing mages just to get instaggibed by every melee in a 600+ range or shadow troll priest battry being able to supply mana to 30+ people while shielding them better than dis priest specs.

Such things are trully broken, as you said a few builds being stronger than others is something that in general happens, lets just hope that a-net only leaves the stronger builds in that are easy to counter not if class does rotation x (*cough ele 34q52tqt6q345insertheretotherrandomkittenq34tg245terg245t245), you cannot even kill them with a freaking siege shot.

Unlike the league of legends matchmaking, GW2 profession balance is quite good, remember necros have the highest base efficiency from just weapon+utility skills (and some basic 10 point traits like transfusion, mark of evasion, shrouded removal, greater marks, terror and chilling darkness).
Warriors aint in such a bad spot, its mostly current meta + Boon strength that rips them a new one (both being adressed in the patch on the 30th) and sword/axe + Longbow, Mace/Shield + Hammer builds work for their niche roles (condition zone control and immortal cc monster for others to kill off people).

My notes would be Aura of the Vampire (but instead of just working of hits it also procs once pre every unique condition on target pre second) or just fuse both DSs
1 – Life blast, damage of the ground version while over 50% lf (without losing it), transfers 1 conedition
2 – Dark Path
3 – Blight – Blind, weakness, poison in area, creates ice field
4 – Wave of Doom – doom but instead of just on the 1 target selected it does a aoe around you too (punishment for melee being its 2 seconds of fear instead of 1 or 4 instead of 2 if you got 100% cond dur)
5 – Life transfer – transfers 1 condition from 5 nearby allies to yourself pre tick in addition to normal effect

Note that they also announced changes to pet/minion AI, so (for example) they won’t aggro things so much any more.

Minion combat ai aint that much of a problem as ai interaction with pathing commands.
Like walking in orr and pulling 20 mobs is kinda easy to deal with (despite the in combat slow), golem, bone minion and shadow fiend getting stuck on a freaking branch, a small enviormental object you walk over, actually is quite the problem.

Necro wins if more of these are true:
enemy is in Putrid Ground (aka well of suffering that applies poison instead of vuln)
Lick wounds buggs out
Enemy pet is alive during lick wounds
You both have the same power in downed (both with 50%)
Necro has Bloodlust

Ranger wins if:
Pet is dead on Lick wounds (making it impossible to fear since it can heal while dead)
Necro doesnt have Bloodlust nor 50% while you do and can daze him if he tries to heal up at least once
You went conditions on pet and command him to rip the necro to shreds if lick wounds failed
Necro cannot cast Putrid.

Not really true, anyone can pick up and equip every weapon, but you cannot actually use it without the points in said tree pre profession without it hitting for less than a wood plank you could pick up from the ground. That pretty much translates to out weapon limits.

The only class that had weapon trees in gw1 was the warrior. Every class could use every weapon perfectly fine as long as they specced into the associated attribute to get the auto attack damage. But that wasnt really needed on a lot of builds. Weapons only affected the auto attack and some minor stats. It was your 8 slot skill bar which made the biggest difference.

Give me one scythe that isnt in scythe master, spear for spears, a shield that uses death magic, a scepter that get its damage with strength and say ok, but till then weapons are very much based on profession (and secondary profession). And if you say you can use it even without the points may i point you to the jotun greatsword bundle in gw2 and say you can use greatswords too because the damage will be just as kittenty damage with either.

Few notes,
Greatswords would be just as probable as shields, bows and pistols.
Offhand axe (aoe minion master offhand), swords(siphoning long range equivalent of dagger), hammer (mobility) and torch (defensive/disengage effect offhand) should have higher chances of getting to be part of the necro arsenal.

Ok guys, lore has no say what weapons a class can use in gw. In gw1 any class could use any weapon. So you could be a sword shield wielding necro if you wanted or even take a longbow. Lore wise any weapon could be given to any of the classes except maybe magical weapons on warriors.

I like the idea of a shield on a necro. But we have enough offhand options. Would much prefer a cleave melee weapon of some kind. But to add more weapons to classes they would have to do it for all classes. It wouldnt be fair. So its very unlikely it will happen.

On lower levels, use heal each time more than its healing count is missing from your hp (just dont bother with strategy of it for now), make sure to strafe on bigger mobs, stronger attacks have a churning animation on the enemy *glitter around their hands/feet/plain long animation* kinda like most of Blackrock dragon bosses/Naxx stuff had. Also make sure to update your gear every 10~ levels.
