This is why I don’t join parties with more than 2 people from the same guild
You haven’t met many decent guilds then.
I’m thinking it would need something more complicated than a simple time-based number.
Maybe a number of kicks relative to the amount of successful dungeon groups run by a person? Or maybe it would only count kicks made after a certain dungeon checkpoint?
Possibly with a second indicator showing guild kicks, as a sort of guild reputation.
A better system would be to display the number of kicks initiated and confirmed within a period. That way, if you get with a group and it says that they kick 10 people a month, you know you shouldn’t even start.
I think this has some potential. Worth making a new topic and discussing.
You’re letting the guy in MF gear stomp all over the same rights of the serious dungeon runners. Why does he have the right to be carried and they don’t have the right to protect their time and effort against what is essentially fraud and scamming? You’re playing favourites with the bads either because you are one or you’re a troll.
The “serious” dungeon runners have no “right” to be protected from evil MF users. MF was put into the game and balanced on purpose. You are meant to play with MF users.
You can find like-minded players that you can trust on using whatever skills and gear you want. But the game will not, and should not, support your pathetic discrimination by allowing you to inspect and abuse PUGs.
Are you honestly claiming that it’s okay for people to lie about their gear and join serious dungeon groups as cheerleaders, with the full intention of relying on the other 4 people to carry them to victory? Is this something you do?
The game design supports playing with like-minded people. That means you can try to find people that play it your way. That’s your responsibility though. It’s not supposed to assist you in discriminating against other players.
Do you really need a more detailed explanation?
The game was designed so that everyone would be useful in a party, so your elitist has no “right” to discriminate like that.
I would love to see some proof for this claim.
Anyway, cheerleader lfg Arah p4 or fotm 48+. WSP ME I’M PRETTY!!!
The fact that we don’t have a trinity isn’t a proof enough for you? The fact that every class is designed to be useful and fun at all times?
Actually there is an intended trinity, DPS-Support-CC, elements of which are present in every class (some better than others at certain ones). Sure every class CAN be useful but, again, “cheerleader lfg” and suddenly your broad claims of anybody can run however they want disappear. Just because a class CAN be useful doesn’t mean the person running it is doing so appropriately.
And by that you of course suggest that only zerker/mesmer groups are viable?
No.
Don’t be ridiculous – mesmers should be wearing zerker gear too!
He didn’t say that at all… where are you getting that from? The point is that we want to make sure someone isn’t running a cheerleader build. To give a real example, I don’t mind if you’re running soldier’s, knight’s, or zerker’s on your guardian… just so long as it’s not carrion or explorer’s or something. If you have a legitimate argument for running those stats though, I’m willing to hear it. However, if someone wearing PVT gear says they’re in full zerker’s (or vice versa), I think they’re in the wrong for joining a group under false pretences.
You have no “right” to make sure that someone isn’t running a cheerleader build, and the game shouldn’t support your desire to do so, because it’s against the principles on which the game is built.
These people are not in the wrong for joining any group under any pretences, because making such restrictions is “in the wrong” in the first place.
Now you’ll go and make them anyway, but don’t expect to be assisted in it by the devs.
The game was designed so that everyone would be useful in a party, so your elitist has no “right” to discriminate like that.

I asked: as a warrior what runes or orbs would you run in knight’s armor?
As a guardian, I prefer ruby or emerald orbs. YMMV.
Sanctum Sprint gives you 700 karma per run. If you can do it fast enough, you can farm a lot of it.
I would like to know what’s left to do in GW2 if a player chooses NOT to grind.
With your definition of a grind, even chess is about grinding stuff.

The latest trend of rewards feels just right. Nothing too important, but at the same time very convenient. I think they are doing it right
Oh, I’m not crying about it. I’m just trying to say it’s not quite as simple as some people make it out to be. And it CAN take a lot longer than 20 mins per run … some people on the forums are saying that their first run with a PUG can take up to three hours. That’s not something I can even potentially commit to most days. Let alone more than once a week.
I expect a typical dungeon path to last for up to an hour, not 20 minutes. It improves as you do more runs. The gear is there to show your mastery of a dungeon, not that you did two clears and got all the items.
As for having time, you just have to prioritize. The dungeons are not balanced around 30-minute runs, and shouldn’t be (even though some groups can do them even faster). If you can’t dedicate an hour or two, it’s too bad.
So if you think that 7 clears (3 hours each) is too much, try doing some other type of content, or even playing another game that fits your schedule and/or your personal definition of “no grind”.
You should think of them as a combined three paths. That’s only 7 full dungeon clears. That’s not a grind.
I don’t want to argue with you but personally I think that 7 dungeon runs is a lot. Also spending couple of dozens of hours repeating single instance is a grind… But that’s just me.
7 dungeon runs is a week’s worth of content. You can do it in a week. A week.
You want to finish with a dungeon in 3 days? Then complain about temporary content that also takes a few days of playing?
Seriously, this game is not for you. Go away.
A player looking to acquire a complete set of dungeon armor is looking at a total of 1380 dungeon tokens. At 60 tokens per completed path, you would need to do 23 of them, at the least.
If the dungeons had more mechanics that encouraged replayability, or if there was some sort of light ‘token exchange’ system to grant some more freedom in acquiring a specific set, I could probably forgive the price. As is, it seems excessive.
You should think of them as a combined three paths. That’s only 7 full dungeon clears. That’s not a grind. There are also tokens dropped inside a dungeon, in addition to the guaranteed 60 per path.
You need to do much more to even learn a dungeon, nevermind master it.
Deserve more than the people not supporting the game.
You deserve squat. If you want something, buy it.
Well… I think anet is going to continue this trend so.. i win!
The trend is to give free stuff because they want to reward something, not because you deserve anything.

I prefer to see weapons that were actually used in real life,
Like magic rifles and staves, as ranged weapons, that shoot sparkles.
I kid, I kid.
A lance on foot is like an equivalent of an anti-aircraft cannon being carried by a trooper. That’s what “real life” analogy means :P
Someone needs to invent a time machine, then spend the rest of his life going back in time to smack parents with a wet noodle and teach them how to raise civilized children.
I can’t do anything about the time machine, but I’ll take the noodle job.
“A lance is a pole weapon or spear designed to be used by a mounted warrior.” – Wikipedia.
If the community ignores a zone; I want it overrun. I want to feel like what we do matters.
You mean, like Orr? Because that’s already in the game.
And I while I’m not expert I still am waiting for somone, ANYONE, on this thread to explain to me how a business modle that alienates new and returning players is going to work in the long run.
Such a “modle” is not going to work. Fortunately, GW2 is not based on such a “modle”.
Bad spelling aside, would you care to explain?
GW2 is based on a model where some people will like it, and some won’t. Arena.net knows how to balance it.
As for the bad spelling, you are paying so little attention to making any of your posts readable, that it looks like you are paying as little attention to the content of the post itself. After reading a zillion of them, I can’t find any of value.

Now we have more fun options.
Like what?
Like new events, new content, new dungeons, new guild missions, new daily system, new WvW stuff etc.
What exactly do you think was more fun than what we have right now?
This is one of the core features of GW2. If you don’t like it, I wonder why did you buy the game in the first place.
…and it wasn’t because there was more mini-games.
At launch the game was about dynamic events, leveling, crafting and gear progression. I had more fun back then. I really miss that time. I loved the feeling that there is a reason to fight that monster and help those peasants. Now I feel that the game is about farming achievements and getting 8th back piece that I really don’t need and don’t care about… I never cared much about achievements. That didn’t change. But AN puts most of their effort on mini games and achievement system instead of that what was really fun for me – dynamic events, fighting giants and dragons with crowd of people!
After launch I was playing a LOT. Now I rarely log in. Just to check out new area or dungeon. After an hour I’m done and bored. I spend more time on the forums now.
Rose-coloured glasses.
At launch the game was more shallow than it is now. Gold was very rare, exotics were harder to get. All we did were boring karma zergs or dungeons. Now we have more fun options.
People who don’t know would like to be enlightened on how to play and get to level 80 in 30 hours. If it involves crafting I’m sure they’d like to know how to get the gold it would take to craft while playing a new character in 30 hours.
Basically, do dynamic events.
The chains to be done may differ from time to time. I leveled my thief almost entirely on Molten Alliance portals.
Time travel is a horribly overused and uninspired gimmick.
I could login to Guild Wars and in start a new character, play for about 30 hours and be max level with max gear having earned the gold for it in that time, and just play the game after that for it’s stories and challenges without ever having a thought cross my mind about am I playing with handicapped stats.
That’s no where near a possibility in Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars felt much more about enjoying well thought out quality content and stories. Guild Wars 2 distracts from that way too much with it’s grind.
You could login to Guild Wars 2 and start a new character, play for about 30 hours, and be max level with nearly max gear (green) around which the entire game was balanced.
Then if you like you could play for a few more hours and get exotics.
The event in question is “Protect the merchants and their supplies from krait slavers”.
The problem is the krait respawn rate. The krait respawn one-two at a time, after a very long time. It needs to be reduced by 300%.
It’s like kill one slaver waaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiitttttt. Kill one more waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiittt. and one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more.
Jesus kittening Christ.
This guy has a point. We are getting all that stuff for free, but what’s the point of that if we can’t use that?
ANet promised great stuff for the whole account, but soulbound stuff doesn’t work like that. It just doesn’t make sense at all, just put those items as account bound
There’s no soulbound stuff, as we have already explained.
Jesus Christ, Vayne. I’m petitioning that your posts are restricted to 3 small paragraphs :P
Ascended items are available in fractals, dailies, guild missions AND achievements. That’s at least 3-4 ascended items in a month of fairly casual, non-grinding gameplay.
You cannot get backpieces without grinding FotM, they are not available anywhere else. You need to either grind Factals for the rings, or you will need 100 laurels for rings and the amulet, not to mention the 100 ectos for the accessories.
This goes directly against what ArenaNet described when talking about how gear would work in GW2.
A month of guild missions gives you two ascended accessories. A month of laurels gives you an amulet plus some leftovers for a ring. A few runs of fractals can get you your back piece.
That doesn’t go against anything Arena.net described. On the contrary, they constantly introduce new ways to get these things – consider that at launch all we had was karma farming for exotics if we didn’t want to do dungeons.
Ascended gear says “Hi!”.
there are no ascendant weapons or armor in the game :P
Yet, but all the accessories together have a huge impact in your character’s stats. In order to get maxed gear, we need lots of grind…
Ascended items are available in fractals, dailies, guild missions AND achievements. That’s at least 3-4 ascended items in a month of fairly casual, non-grinding gameplay.
If you can get a max level set of armor without spending a silver, and a max level weapon for the price of an hours play I am not sure that there is a valid complaint about grind.
Ascended gear says “Hi!”.
There’s no ascended weapons or armor.
And whatever is currently available as ascended, gives you a stat increase similar to a food consumable.
I love how people try to justify their hyperbole when there isn’t any excuse for using it. Why can’t you just say these are things Anet said that didn’t eventuate, instead of using obviously incorrect hyperbole like bait and switch?
Says the same thing and isn’t completely wrong.
Precisely this. That sort of thing makes you lose any credibility you might have had, it makes you look less intelligent than you might really be, and it’s the difference between constructive criticism and flaming.
There is a difference between
I want to play the game the way I want
and
I want you to play the game the way I wantLet’s imagine this is implemented in the game. The uberzerker CoF1 elitist can create a group and sort everyone out who doesn’t match his needs. This part of the game is happy.
The hippie can create a group, too. Go to gw2lfg and make a “lf4m cof p1 everyone welcome” – you’ll find ppl in no time. This group isn’t affected by the change at all, because noone uses gear check. They are happy, too.
The one and only victim would be the one, who enters a elitist speedrunn group wit ha crap build and expects to get carried. But remember, the stupid elitist has the same rights you have. And currently he has no way to figure out if you match his needs or not.
And you have no way to recognize him as a elitist prick. You don’t want to play with him, he doesn’t want to play with you – a kick would be a win-win situation.Play the game the way you want is awesome, but we need tools to find other like-minded players. With out them, there are groups with two or more players, who have contradicting ways to play the game.
This would be one such tool.
The game was designed so that everyone would be useful in a party, so your elitist has no “right” to discriminate like that.
It doesn’t matter if we’re getting it every 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 10 weeks or whatever, what matters is that it will be gone soon and you won’t get to experiance it if you don’t play in the timeframe Anet allocates.
It’s ok! There are many things you will never experience. Learn to let go.
where did you put me, because i started saying i enjoyed some of them and finished saying i do it only because i “must” for rewards and titles ^^
In the second :P
Strange! I see instead that there are a lot of people that DON’T enjoy the jumping content, not the other way around.
I actually counted.
About 30 people like it, about 39 don’t like it. It ’s pretty close to a 50/50.
And wtf is “Guru Meditation: XID: 1273868564”?
This thread shows that there are a lot of people that enjoy the jumping content, even though there are a lot that don’t.
Clearly, the game is working as intended. Some people will like it, some won’t.
It certainly isn’t “turning” into anything unpleasant as the OP suggests. And screw his C rating.
There are Diminishing Returns that you may have triggered. It should only happen if you do the same thing over and over though, not if you do a variety of events.
It’s not done to prevent grinding, it’s done to make grinding less profitable than regular gaming. If you enjoy grinding, you can still grind without the rewards. If you only do that because of the rewards, sorry no cookies for you. Go play the game instead.
It’s very possible that ArenaNet is working on large permanent content as we speak.
They have said that they are working on permanent content too.
GW2 players:
Complain that the game is too easy.
Complain that the game is hard afterArena.net adds 1 piece of hard content.
GW2 players:
Ask for loot to be reworked.
Complain when loot is being reworked.
nerfed! 141% mf and no armoured scale, just large scales, a few heavy loot bags and 3-4 kite fortunes.
Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal.
But they are all SOULBOUND? WTF?
They are not soulbound.
You can put them in your I AM A GOLD SPAMMER. PLEASE REPORT ME BY PRESSING THE REPORT FLAG ICON IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THIS POST! in the Mists (where any of your characters can take them) or salvage them with a PvP Salvage kit.
Wat?…
/15char
It only says that they are soulbound while in your inventory. Deposit them, and any of your characters can use them.
Has the next gen pop. for gaming become brainwashed by other games?
Spoiled more like. Older gamers tend to see that something is actually better than what we used to have.
