I really dont understand this post, MM are terrible, their pets do nothing half the fights they go into and just stand there 2 feet from the enemy.

Its a bunker build, if you are burst, they are meant to counter you.

Minion Master necro is a Joke, half your support skills dont work most of the time.

If its too hard to fix them, then at least re skin them and make them ranged, ranged ones seem to work okish.

Very difficult to recommend a game when it has major features like minions broken since launch and that was years ago.

Agree Thief has a kittened amount of damage.

It is related because punishing leavers will not cut back on leavers because of A and B.

This wont stop until

a- Damage goes down across the board.

b- They separate team and solo queue.

Thiefs need a massive nerfing to.

This might seem counter intuitive but, if you like fast passed fights, we need damage to be toned down.

The only realistic way to counter the high burst meta is to go full bunker, when this people realize this we will start running into fights that are 3 bunkers 1 burst and 1 meh, fights then are going to last forever, burst will go down to bunker and bunker v bunker will be never ending.

To prevent this, mid range needs to come back and be viable.

Marauder is basically essential for low-armor classes to even exist right now, so there’s that too.

More like low HP, armor has next to no impact in this game unless you stack it sky high and if you that low HP classes die to conditions in no time flat, its a lose lose proposition with out it.

But i do agree, it is not the mid range things that are the problem like the 4 stats amulets but the extremes, which are 3 stats.

It is boring when the only 2 viable ways of playing is either hyper bunker or hyper burst glass cannon, they need to bring the mid range back and with a vengeance.

If you remove marauder might as well remove everything but Mesmer thiefs and mages…

Again, the issue is not whether i can bring them down or not, nor do i expect for the stats to carry me, i do however expect them to be relevant, which they arent.

You can always chose to fly in the face of what essentially everybody else is stating, whether they like this meta or not. Thats up to you.

Yes they likely will and no that is not a problem, if you cant execute the class mechanics, nerfs and opness not the real issue with you playing that class.
Also class mechanics can always be revised if they are exceedingly complex, much like the revenant now having access to 2 weapons instead of the original 1.

I still enjoy PvP but i would say it is more frustrating now than it has been in the past few months. The pacing of everything is way different, and in general spike damage is absurd right now so it can make cutting your teeth painful, but i would still recommend someone check it out.

Not really, they do not mention explosive meta at all there, toning down condi damage a bit does nothing against thief, power necro, shatter mesmer, rampage warrior, power ranger and so on.

The explosive meta is not what it is due to a bit higher than should be condi damage, its due to incredible high burst damage. Not addressed in that post.

I think it would be a good idea if devs came out and officially commented on whether this is intentional or not.

Reason is simple, many many people despise the explosive meta for many valid reasons, how ever many keep trying despite it being so frustrating in the hopes of an eventual revalance. Now if Devs can comment on this and officially state this is the way the game is moving then so be it, we can move to something else, but it would be nice to know.

I think the PvP servers I have seen recently would agree with that assessment. The last one I saw had 6 Mesmers (3 to a team), 3 Elementalists (2 on one team, 1 on another) and one Thief (boy did THEY feel out of place I am guessing).

I figured the time-to-live on that game lasted only a few microseconds, if that.

The only builds worth playing are: (not in any particular order).

1-Shatter mesmer, kite and insane burst.
2-Warrior, high burst, some CC, damage immunity on high CD.
3-Power ranger, high burst, some CC, damage immunity on high CD.
4-Power necro, high burst, some CC, second life in form of Shroud.
5-Power thief, high burst, lock down CC on CD, “immunity” in form of stealth.
6-Gimmicky burn guardian, high burst, gimmick burn, damage immunity on high CD.
7-Ele, currently broken, high dps, high burst, high sustain, CC immunity on CD.

Notice a trend there?.

I think that might be what they are going for. Not necessarily a MOBA, but definitely an FPS style PvP where he who gets that first head-shot, wins.

And no, I don’t have any evidence of that intent or quotes to that effect, but the current “he who shoots first, wins” PvP system seems to support such a supposition.

Should that be the case i think its a poor design choice, given that shooters are designed to play on low or 0 ping servers, aka bf4 every one gets their own, while mmos are by default played on a few centralized servers world wide, which are likely to average over 250ms for most players making the real response time 375ms, and miles away from the ideal 0 ping from shooters.

I have not fought a fair fight in weeks now, on either side. I also have not, not fought a premade or with a premade in weeks now either. I wonder if it might be related.

Bad explosive meta does not help either.

In an ideal world (clearly not the one GW2 has lived in for a while now) Direct damage is supposed to do steady to spiky damage and Condition damage is supposed to above average damge over time while less spiky.

In a world were everybody blows up in 0.5 seconds unless they pop some form of invulnerability, this difference is irrelevant.

Also and not related, this turns this game into a moba, where everything revolves around burst and having your opponent burn their CDs before you do (missing them) and or catching them with out them. Aka power necro, thief, warrior, power ranger and so on.

We need the mid range builds to be viable, we cant have burst and broken elementalist as the only 2 viable build options, you guys tried this by eliminating the trinity and we got the berserker meta. The same thing happens here, since mid range is gone and everything revolves around a semi instant burst, the only logical builds are burst with some X seconds of invulnerability. Basically the same thing that happens in pve, burst down or die.

Match teams with teams, match duos and trio against other teams with the same, and match PUGs with PUGs. The current system is ridiculous.

The answer is simple and its the same reason for the mega servers. Anet does not want to admit their pvp system is unpopular/unbalanced and next to nobody plays it, much like a couple of years ago. Thus you either have upwards of 6 minutes queues or you merge them. They took the later option.

You know the real problem behind pvp is that very few people actually play it right?.

1- Merging Solo and Premade queues was done for the same reason they implemented mega servers, to mask a dying population.

2- Same goes for matchmaking, it does not work not because it is technically difficult to implement, they would have fixed this ages ago if that were the case, but because not enough people play it for it to actually matter.

They all come down to either 2 variants.

1-kitten ton of burst + invulnerability on a CD.
2-Bullkitten stun/CC (like basilisk venom) again on a CD + kitten ton of burst.

1- Night unkilable, unstunable high dps Elementalists.
2- Single burst kill basilisk venom Thiefs.
3- Four shot kill, 5k crit Litch form Necros.

Then and far behind come the classes that can pop some seconds of invulnerability.

Wait, premades and solos are on the same queue? wow, how small does your pvp crowd need to be for you to do that.

I wouldn’t say “fun” is meaningless. If all that matters is ascended gear and skins, perhaps. But I think many PVE players don’t see it like that. There’s more to PVE than just grind…. although the game has been taking a sharp turn towards grind as of late…

With exception of requiring service pack 3 on Windows XP (rather than service pack 2), and requiring 35GB of space instead of 25GB, the minimum requirements for HoT are identical to those of GW2 when it was released.

GW2 minimum requirements have always carried the warning that they might change over time, but they have not done so yet, and so I’d not worry, at least for now.

Its been a long time since minimum and recommended requirements meant anything in this industry.

I actually anticipate a huge performance issue for older pcs. In general the engine in this game performs TERRIBLE, add to it that they mentioned nothing about direct12 or reworking the engine, add to it that it is actually pretty expensive to do which implies they didnt, add to it that the game does actually need a face lift and the only way to do it if you did not change the engine is to up the polygon count and particle effects which works directly into the first issue and yeah older computers are going to have several performance issues come the expac.
The only consolation is that it is likely to be confined to expansion areas/reworked areas.

Never run under 17k, much less now with all the crazy damage flying around.
