How to play this new awesome tpvp:

Step 1 – Join Solo
Step 2 – Play normally
Step 3 – If you’re winning just win and gg if you’re loosing just leave
Restart

Profit.

No need to wait for a premade and so on…just keep trying until you win…you suck? Who cares…just keep farming…

Oh…this explains many many things…seemed strange to me to see those hotjoin farmers in high places…..now i understand, bug abusing much? And i assume that leaving the match not only saves you from a rank drop but gives no reward to the other team either…

What can i say…leaderboards already were pretty much worthless…now they’re just stupid…

Start recording videos of those ppl leaving games…waiting for a ban for bug abusing or something…

Keep in mind it’s only the games since the 26th march that have an effect on your win/loss. And only the games since MMR came out late February affect rating and so ranking, not the total over all.

I just won another 4/5 games and still can’t see myself. No idea anymore. I’ll just keep playing I spose. There’s peeps with 20 games played and 50% win ratio ahead of me some how.

I was somewhere around 80…then i suddenly disappeared after 8 runs with 7 wins and 1 lost…dunno wtf is going on on this leaderboard, not to mention those who just leave the game before losing, seems that leaving just before match ends could “save” your rank…dunno if it’s actually working but i see many high ranked folks leaving at 490…if true no wonder how many bads can get high places….

Meh…bugs and more bugs (and many abusing for sure..) imo…nothing new..

Just put two dam

-Join for Ranked Match

-Join for Unranked Match

buttons…so good premades who want to run for leaderboards will face other good premades and 4fun teams and soloq can still go without ruining their ladder just because they can go premade only for a few runs a day…preventing bad ppl from farming pugs all day long gaining points for boards..

I think it would be cool if they added some other statistics like “total ranked games played across all players” and “total players playing more than 10 ranked games”

But first they have to explain how and when games are rated as “ranked” or not…but before this they have to explain how those ratings really work (When soloq, when going premade, when facing high ranked ppl in pug while you’re running premade and so on…)

Moral? All is going to be a mess for a looong loong time..

Used to soloq all time i had no teamates up (Pretty much every time except for evenings) and this just ruined everything…now i’m forced to go with full premade only, time for fun is over…now it’s all bout farming pugs..

Face it…you have 2 options here:

Going with 40+ premade owning soloq for leaderboards
Going soloq feeding premades farming all day long

This is just going to force ppl to hotjoin since most tpvpers, even many high ranked ones can go with a core team for just a few runs a day…the rest of the time you can’t go tpvp solo because you’re going to screw your ladder facing ts premades……

Another epic fail imo.

Just let us to chose if we want to go for a “ranked” match or for a “4fun” one (like gw1 gvg that had apparently the same ranking system)…so ppl who are going for leaderboards will face other organised teams, i see many ppl who are just plain bad on top positions in eu just because they used to farm all day and now they’re just going to farm pugs…sure if they meet a good team they are probably going to be ganked badly…but meanwhile they already roflstomped 15 pugs in the morning….

Got 6 runs this evening…necro who was in team with me is in ladder and i’m not, and we went 6 times with the same team for 5 wins and 1 loss…dam 3 hgh u.u

Let me understand…if i go solo and i lose it counts the same as loosing with my premade? And winning with solo counts the same as winning with premade vs poor pug random guys? Or there’s some sort of hidden stuff that makes differences on those cases…? We’re going to see only premades here…and noone (including me) would never soloq again all afternoon waiting for his mates…is this a sort of an hidden hotjoin funnel? u.u

1. You outnumber the enemy to the point where it doesn’t matter.

3. The combat is, largely, gear dependent.
4. You fight people that aren’t the same level as you.

That’s why ppl like wvsw…cookies without any skills involved…in tpvp you must be good to achieve something, in wvsw you can be as bad as you want you always have a zerg behind you…rewards with no effort? Pve ppl love it…sometimes you see those uber commanders in s-tpvp and they’re just…crap…even a r10 hs spammer can beat the kitten out of them anyday…but hey….commander guys, no kitten…
Last commander i met in tpvp ended his tourn match vs our core on top of ct’s roof for not being facerolled more while his guildmates (yeah they were something like a wvsw’s guild premade…rofl) were still chain dieing on respawn under base…500-18 lol…dunno how they managed to get 18 points btw…2 pew pew zerk rangers max rank 12 or something if i remember right…nough said..oh…and they still managed to rage for something like nerf this..op there…and stuff like that ._.

already said what i’m going to do for pretty much the whole match (Just calling incoming writing something like “2close” it’s more than enough), if my mates are good they can arrange their tactic based on this without asking…if i see someone else coming to cap close with me (Unless they’re crossing) or if someone asks to explain what i just wrote…well no need to write something more anyway…just got bad luck..

You can be a bit more elaborate. Even I didn’t understand what you’re saying and I main a mesmer and have used portal heavily before!

You have one and a half minutes before the match starts. It’s not tough to properly explain what you intend to do and give others a chance to either agree or present their own strategy.

We all want to win after all right?

Capping close, leaving portal, going mid and time warp the kitten out of them if needed…so i’m basically asking for a 4-1 or 1-3-1…simple, it’s up to them to decide how to do the homework with their specs..already told them everything they need to know..

Greatsword it’s just an hotjoin fun weapon (Aka nabs exterminator) imo… S\P – S\F or even S\S (Don’t like this one very much) + Staff are way better for tpvp…or at least for me.

Just dodge\invulnerability\block or whatever when the mez points his gs to the sky during his combo…oh and btw you just spotted the real one while negating his burst..amazing uh?

Think i saved many lives with this…now i can go to bed…into my batcave, obviously xD

Retaliation and confusion are simply bad mechanics full stop that bad players use as a crutch. It shouldn’t exist in sPvP at all IMO. Passive damage with no downside at all.

It’s always up to you chosing to attack a target with retaliation on or casting skills while under confusion….this reminds me of ppl keep skilling while under spiteful spirit in gw1, and going down that way had never been considered a balance problem…it was only bout l2p…good players knew they had to stop while under it waiting for end\remove, newbs just suicided while damaging allies…noone ever complained about..if you had someone not caring bout ss keep spamming dmg on himself and the rest of you team it was usually an istant kik for the next run…problem solved…play smart next time, if not just go back pve..

Old good days when gw pvp wasn’t casual oriented and was actually way more competitive and gratifying…now everyone must suceed even if playing like kitten…so sad…

imo tPvP / sPvP thiefs are not as good as WvW thiefs…

dont get me wrong they do their job very well (jumper for example) in tPvP and i would agree that it takes skill to play a thief in the higher skill lvls of tournament play but its in no way comparable to 1vsX that some thiefs do in WvW enviroment consistently.

Watch some Yishis videos for example

lolled hard at this btw….really epic..even hotjoin thieves are better than zerg vs zerg’s ones..

Best thieves like best players in every other class are the ones who have a very good team behind…teamwork makes single players play good…if you have a bad team you can’t play good even if you’re supposed to be the best out here…no matter what if your team is bad you’re going to fail…thare are probably many many very good players around who can’t do much just because they haven’t a decent core team to play with..

Btw youtube videos aswell as streamings are pointless…there are very good ones who never made a video or a streaming…and there are really bad players streaming all day…

as an example….old but gold..

Maybe because you have to focus the mesmer instead of phantasms…..when you’re playing engi i don’t think ppl actually focus your turrets instead of you…

Fix mesmer’s mantras too…sick of being oneshotted by mantra of pain, it’s just riculous. Noone running shatter or phantasms because everyone rolls this op mantra spec on mesmer…time to stop this bs. Btw i just got hit with a 168.4k hundred blades…with a broom with sigil of rage on it o_o …..but since i’m an op mesmer with 340k hp (I know…but i had to sacrifice a ton of vitality for running my spec) i survived.

Go and try yourself, press 2 3 times really fast and see how many is performed.

lol if there’s a bug i never noticed it in something like 400+ tourneys with thief…and that’s because, as i said before, you don’t need more than 1 hs so i never found myself mashing 2 like a crazy hotzerg hero…maybe i’ll give it a try…or maybe not, if bugged just sit down and wait…usually it takes from 2 to 6 months to fix bugs here (Or make them worse…) take your time…or just totally leave thief as i did 2 months ago and everything would be fine xD

@Archaon, I think you’re missing my point. I’m just stating that a player who is rank 7 is almost always a new pvp player. Let’s do the math:

150 tourney wins for the champion title gives 30.000 points of rank from the final award alone.

Rank 7 = 5.000 points required to get there, which is about 25 tourney matches won with 0 points, or around 15-25 tourneys won when taking into consideration mid-match points. Even lower when taking into account all losed matches, and even less when taking into account all hotjoin matches.

So yes, it’s easy to assume that a rank 7 player is a new player, even if they have never touched hotjoin.

That’s for sure…and for sure a r<10 is pretty much dead meat in tpvp, but everyone starts from being dead meat so it’s normal, all i said is that end match score means nothing…scoring more points than a r40 (Like in that screenshot) doesn’t mean you’re better than him…at all…as i said before a mid bunker could save you kitten for the whole match scoring less than 50 pnts, but he still saved your kitten and maybe he did better than the other 4 with 3 times his points…

Someone who have, say, a champion pvp title, won’t merely be at rank 6 or rank 7. Rank might mean nothing most of the time, but in this specific case, when it’s low enough, it’s easy to determine that a person has not had enough experience at pvp yet. So if players with extremely low and quick to obtain ranks can play well, it supprts his point that new players can be good at pvp.

Just for you to know…quick ranks mean hotjoin…hotjoin means you’re bad…even if you are r40 if you just made it in hotjoin pretty much anyone even much lower (Well not r10 for sure lol..more likely r30+) but who did it in tpvp would roflstomp you anyday…more than ranks the only thing that actually matters a bit in tpvp are champion titles because you get them after 150 tourney wins using a specific class so you actually have to win tourneys to get them….waiting for some new tpvp title maybe…

Points show the time spent playing pvp. Not very accurately, but they do. New pvp players will have very low points naturally. That’s enough to support his argument.

It’s a bit sad, however, that there is some baseless elitism around here.

…wtf? Score shows nothing…dps have higher scores, bunkers have really low but it means nothing at the end of the match…a bunker can make you team win scoring 10 points for just holding mid alone for the whole match, you didn’t get my point…if you mean rank then yes, even if he’s an idiot who just farmed his rank in hotzerg a r30 would ever be better than a r5 no matter what…if a low rank gets higher score at the end of the match it doesn’t mean he’s better, if you look at hotjoin ppl with high scores are usually the ones who zerg all day without knowing how the kitten pvp is meant to be played…if you try to play good in hotjoin you’re not gonna get top scores for sure, even if you’re better than the rest of you team toghether…

btw i bet you were with a pew pew ranger (Those spamming sbow with quickness) am i wrong?

The point I am trying to make is, not all pve-er are noobs in pvp. Please do not remove laurels from pvp, I am having lots of fun with solo-q, might shift my play style in the future too.

Matchmaking (If it even exists) is just kittened….with our premade we go from roflstomping 3 pugs in a row to good fights vs others 45+ premades all of this without a logical connection…

Example:

1 – vs pugs 500 – <150
2 – vs pugs again…hot knife through butter…
3 – oh thanks god…nice team, let’s suppose we win something like 500-400

oh so we’re finally starting to get good ones…we won so maybe we get even better ppl..

4 – another suicide pug

and so on…totally random..

Defining roles for sPvP in GW.

There is a ton of terminology that gets passed around about builds roles etc. but there’s not a huge amount of information on what they mean. When we talk of roles in sPvP its interchangeable with a build and can be combined with other roles or builds so not a definite this or that it’s not just a build or not a in map function. So to take this at the very basic level you build your spec / build out of the roles you want to fulfill.

Bunker…Ele…yes you can leave it at mid if you have fast backup…other eles off course

Node Defender…Ele

Backpoint Defender…Ele

Farpoint Assaulter…Ele what else….

Support…the same ele…starting to get boring btw…

Roamer…still ele

Team Fighter…when is not contesting…ele

Burst…guess what? Yep…you’re right…

Morale? If you have to play something…play ele…

Double points for winners half points for loses…at the end of the match obviously…not during it and if you leave, no points at all…same as now, autobalanced\volunteers get win bonus ppl who just switch team with the green button still get points based on team they were before changing

Maybe tournament played would be a better parameter to see the real experience in tournament.

Everyone has this stat, so i think is not hard to do a filter with “tournament played”

I think is a better stat than rank because atm people can reach an high rank in hot join without playing a single tournament match.

This really makes a CLIKing sound for those in EU

Full of commanders in hom now u.u Went pug with one guildmate and we faced a guild premade with 2 commanders….500-150 lol free worthless chests for us…even without a bunker…just 3 nice players and done, no problems at all..

Btw one of them was playing mesmer with commander icon on…lol…all hail pve

Since you can usually complete the monthly just after…well…maybe 1 hour? But at the end of the day i don’t give a kitten bout laurels so it’s ok… xD

Right now:

1 – Ele (Even more broken after quickness aka dmg nerf)
2 – Guardian (Same as ele)
3 – Ranger (Bunker-Trapper what else, toned down a bit noob pew pews)
4 – Mesmer (Still the same, tw still viable and better than the other elites)
5 – Necro (Well it’s sort of ok…worth it if he’s good)
6 – Engi (Buffed to a decent level, same as necro imo)
7 – Thief (Hit hard by quickness, revealed and caltrops patch, not really worth it atm both burst or cond dmg)
8 – Warrior (N\A Rip)

If you need more drawings just tell me…i think everyone who studied just a little statistics can clearly get it.

Your entire argument is based off of the assumption that pvp dyes have a worse crit chance.

Pvp and pve dyes have the same ‘crit’ chance and it’s garbage for everyone. Even if you tried to do any statistics yourself, the sample size would be way too small for it to be worth typing out your alleged conclusion.

I tried to explain something really simple to you, and it’s the same principle found in all rewards in this game. If you can expect it / farm it then it’s account bound. If it’s based entirely on chance then it’s not account bound.

Already testing it on a 3000 sample…and for now on 1500 already tested pvp dye’s crit chance is less than half the pve’s and so the tp average value…around 7 silvers/each compared to 16

So if it’s based on chance and its the same…why pve unid are not account bound and pvp are…while both are sellable when opened? Give me a decent reason for that…with the same chance they would have the same value both unid or opened…

Ok listen up you purring meow of a kitten, it’s like this:

—pvp dyes are easy to craft and obtain from chests

—therefore pvp dyes must be account bound, by the tenets implemented by anet economists

upon opening the unid dye the value returns to being entirely chance based, aka mostly worthless, and thus stops being account bound

I’ll give you a few days to figure it out.

I think you definately can’t read….if pvp unid have the same crit chance as pve they would have the same value " after opening"because they would give you the same number of high priced dyes as pve ones….fact is that making them sellable after opening means they have lower chance to give you something valuable and you cannot sell them as unid because having a lower chance the are not worth the same as pve unid ones…

If they are the same:

10 pvp unid dyes x% (worth x on tp) —> 1 rare + 9 crap (worth y on tp)
10 pve unid dyes x% (worth x on tp) --> 1 rare + 9 crap (worth y on tp)

They still have same value as unid or as opened but:

If pvp ones have lower % then:

10 pvp unid <x% (worth x on tp) —> 10 crap ( worth <y on tp)
10 pve unid x% (worth x on tp) --> 1 rare + 9 crap (worth y on tp)

See? They would have the same value as unid…but value matches crit chances after opening, and that’s why you can’t sell them as unid, because value is based on crit chance and crit chance is lower for pvp ones in this situation and you would sell less valuable stuff for the price of better one.

This is just a part of “If you want something you must go pve” bullkitten anet’s policy…

Btw on a 1.5k unid dyes sample average unid pvp dye’s value is 7.2 silvers, less than half the value of pve ones…still need confirmation from another 1.5k, need some time to get them…since pve dyes’s price is based (Obviously) on what you can get from them for now we have like less than half the crit chance from pvp ones..
